I just stumbled across this video. What the man is telling you about copper and aluminum is true. From my simple metallurgical research years ago, I learned anytime you put two dissimilar metals together you are setting up conditions for corrosion. If I recall, it doesn't matter matter touching, welded, or whatever. A good example is refrigeration. That's why an AC, Refrigerator, or Freezer develops a refrigerant leak, more than likely, in the metal lines. Just wanted to throw that in.

2 questions best "madtic" for sealing gopper to brick along the top of counterflashing. 2) best way to secure copper counter flashing to brick chimney in the "field". Original counter flashing curf in the brick is 14" above the roof line. It covers original step flashing . Tried drilling and inserting a copper roofing nail that had been dipped in 52 hundred. Didn't work so well. Ended up using lexel behing the copper and to originaly set the bend into. Clamped and shimed the copper tight to the chimney????? Now need to seal the copper to brick at the curf? No one is really adressing that on line. I see a LOT of ( to me) bad info on using masonry nails to secure. Electrolysis??? Originag coil stock was eaten away at every fastner used. Ocean front ( in the dune line) in obx of n.c. HARSH ENVIORMENT. Thank you!
