    That 60s Lotus is awesome! So fast but very fragile. At high speed track like Spa or Monza, you went off, you were dead!

      At that time Spa didn't have the escape track on the Eau Rouge, so if the driver lost control there he would go straight on the wall.

    Those utility poles near the track in the 1930's and 60's would be disconcerting if one crashed into them, but also the houses and buildings at trackside too.
    Eau Rouge is simply the most amazing piece of road racing track in the world, with Laguna Seca's cork screw second to it.😎👍

      @@harrycop7944 You should have looked it up, before commenting. Those streamlined cars were able to go over 400 no problem. Rosemeyer himself died in a recordattempt in that car too, when the wind blew the car off the road, and he went in to the woods at over 400.

    Ahhhh la bonne vieille époque...1934, une enclume avec un moteur de locomotive monté sur 4 disques 33 tours, le tout lancé à 200km/h sur un bitume bosselé au milieu des arbres, des poteaux électriques, des murets, des gens...Nos ancêtres étaient-ils donc tous fous?! ^^

      It was a lot tighter. The 1960s Eau Rouge/Raidillon complex hugged what’s more or less the run-off area of the modern day version. You can still see pieces of the original retaining wall, and that’s a good guide to give you an idea of where the corner used to be.

      Fun fact: Officialy the Eau rouge doesen't exist science 1939. That year was the Raidillon build to make the track faster, and the eau rouge and the hairpin after that (L'ancienne douane) was removed, and that new left kink witch is the remaining part of the o.g. corner officialy just part of Raidillon.

    In 1934, the cars where able to go almost as fast as modern F1s, but, only on a very long straight. Driving them on dry roads was like driving on ice.
    1966 This one take those wide arcs at about 100Km/h faster than the 1934 car.
    Would be interesting to have all of those cars race the same track. Make it the 2022 track of the 1966 track.

      those cars where completely nuts and could actually go faster than modern F1 cars in a long straight because they where tiny and had no aerodynamic for downforce to speak of. so much less drag at higher speeds. with..well...tires you would put on a modern city scooter.

    The great thing about tracks that go many years at a time without change, is that you get a real good comparison of cars evolution in speed over time.
    Like when Prost set a lap record in 1993, it took 8 years to beat it. absolute combination of driver, car and regulations.
    my favorite version of this track is the 1982 - 2003 (minus 1994)

    Good. I just miss some cars between 1934 and 1966. That was a big leap/step forward. But frpm 1980's that was not that much of a difference. Yes, there was something but not as much, as from the early 90's up to 1980. ;)

    jeeeeeez if I was a wealthy Qatari or Saudi, I would definitely offer to buy this whole area, use the 1966 track but cut the raidillon and let them use the 1937's loop and organize 24h of Franchorchamps on this good old legendary track. and let the F1 using the actual track . that could be epic

      It was built as a bypass to the hairpin on the public road so it didn't exist originally. I think they did use it once constructed

    If 2000s had extra gear like 2022, top speed would be as good. 314 vs 330 9.92 MPH diff and 2000s was near rev limiter.
    2000s 7 gears/2022 8 gears

      Camera tilt is probably a mod to simulate driver head movements

      @@rohanalias9053 but.. it's in VR... so either he tilted his head like that which would make no sense at all, or the VR actually depicted it like this, which would also make no sense at all. How would such an extremely tilted image simulate any kind of realistic head movements? Especially leaning out of corners like no real driver would ever do.
      Why would one need a head tilt simulation mod in VR anyway? All it would do is make you seasick

      Because the first car is the Streamline version of the Auto Union Type C, which was adapted for high speed runs and not grand prix racing
