Great job Matt, I hope you manage to sell the lamp. I thought you might have bored a hole in the heavy base piece of wood and let the cable pass through that or mount the lamp down permanently so that the cable is not seen. It was a really interesting video though and can't wait to see what you do next.
Thanks Matt, you're experimenting with the content recently, I like it, good to see new things and it must be more rewarding for you too ! The lamp came out great, very stylish, I'm sure it will sell soon enough ! Please don't jump on the trend for converting perfectly functional old tools into lamps though, that's sacrilege to me , if they're not fit to be restored that's another matter !
Hi, an interesting idea and I love giving otherwise unwanted ‘thing’ a new purpose 👍 but the cable would be off putting for me, it sticks out like a sore thumb. A better way of managing it might help.
Great video as always, Where do you get your lamp parts from? I've only ever seen them as part of a whole lamp kit and it's expensive when a single bung is all that is needed to complete a project
A great video as usual Matt. I liked the three elements of it, searching for, building and selling the lamps. Looking forward to seeing more of them. 🙂
Good looking project just a couple of things. I know the lamp holder is earthed but would it be a good idea to earth the metal sconce as well? When I was taught to use a bandsaw I was told to move the blade guide as close as possible to the job the less blade on “show” the less movement. Not trying to criticise just making constructive observation. As I said a good job and hope you have great success in your new venture. I have made a couple of lamps but always struggle for design ideas.
A good watch. I'd be interested in more lamp making details, where do you get the kit from, how do you get the cables out the bottom of the bottles etc.
great project Matt and looks great, very best of luck with your money making projects... small crafting is the way forward I think too... may I ask a question. i believe (from memory) that your workshop runs from a (large) rechargeable battery (perhaps alongside) solar panels (also from memory) I'm contemplating how to get power to my workshop and weighing up the cost of running a supply from our house versus buying a rechargeable battery pack... can I ask how you are finding your large battery device(s) please. much obliged
Nice camera and editing work. I’ve noticed that you’ve upped your video game lately. Have you done a course, or is just learning by doing? Great colors as well btw.
I agree, your video presentation is really good and your content is interesting. It was organized so you had all the bits and parts neatly available to put that lamp together. On a technical note are you considering making any sellable solar powered items?
Just remember if you sell electrical items , you have to prove they are to a safety standard . As a retired electrical contractor I know it can be a minefield in this regards , most charities don’t won’t electrical items these days because they have to pay to get them tested . I’m sure you wouldn’t anything unsafe , but things like cable size and type plus fuse size and earthing arrangements have to be top of your list .
I make bog wood lamps. I don’t wire the LED light i buy them and I still need to do this and provide a sticker to say they have been tested. It’s a bit of a hassle but got to be done. Trading standards are always looking out for this type of thing.
Great video. Love the intro. Music parts were awesome. You should try to use it throughout the video. This new style suits your videos. Lams are great. I hope you sell them all. Keep it up.
Hi ! I wanted to ask you to please introduce the option of audio in other languages, Spanish! For your videos, it's something very simple and for the South American community that follows you, we can enjoy them without missing details of your explanations or following a subtitle that distracts us from the content of the video. The Blacktail Studio channel has already added this option in several languages and gained many more followers! Thank you and your channel is great.
Gidday Matt! So many thanks for this latest Patreon vide o of the bargain hunt. Absolutely loved the engaging and enigmatic style of the video, not to mention the intrinsic interest in the project itself. We're hooked! Don.
Great video, I have been making bottle lamps for a while, and people do keep pointing out the electrical safety issues of selling something like this. I am extra careful about the wiring up, and leave the electrical safety info sticker attached to the cable, if I ever get to the point where I am selling enough I think it would be wise to get some insurance, just my thoughts, good luck with the new venture...
Your videography is really improving. Have you tried on line selling of your stuff? Seems less effort, time, travel, costs than markets…… but I’m unsure how lucrative those markets are….

Love it; like a cinematic vlog with a bit of maker stuff included - and nobody moaning about the music! 👌👍

Very well made video, Matt! The story telling, videography, the different shots, the music: well done!
The lamp turned out pretty cool!
Good luck!!
I think driving an hour to get to a place is funny. Here in Texas, many people drive an hour one way to get to work.
Hi where do you get those bulb holders with the rubber bung I’ve not seen that before.
👍👍👍 As others have commented your camera and editing is coming on in leaps and bounds. Thanks Matt
Thank you very much
Love the 6am vibe in your shed.
Thank you
Did you make up your 'lamp making kit' or did you buy it as a complete unit? If purchased, where? Link? 👍
Excellent as usual Matt just a note this lamp must be earthed I am sure you did just didn't see it done , thanks .
Yes they all are
Awesome Small parts lamp making kit. Can you share a link?
Nice work. Good luck with your adventures in lamp making :)
Good luck with the new endeavour matt

Looks great, that peg is gonna burn from the heat off the lamp I think. Well done though 😊👌

Hi Matt, thst was a great idea for the lamp, good luck with the new lamp making ideas, best regards from a Kiwi living in Australia, Les
Thank you very much Les
Hi Matt, love your channel 🙌🏼
What are the rules and regulations for selling handmade lamps to the public?
Thank you. They need to be PAT tested
Cool lamps!
Thank you
Matt, good luck, with your new venture

😊

You have the best ideas for taking old, decrepit stuff and making something interesting and useful. I come away inspired after watching every video!
Thank you Terry

That was your most exciting intro yet, it was like a Christopher Nolan trailer.
Loving the intro 👌
Thank you Aiden

Try making LAMP using a 20 mm shell with a wooden base,,,my father was a sailor and he made lamps with a 20 mm shells ...
Call it an All-add-in lamp, that will sell😊
Very good

You need to earth your metal lamp, and indeed your brass bulb-holder
It is
@@Badgerworkshop good show, I only saw two wires
I was going to say the same thing, as the lamps are being sold I wouldn't want to be liable if someone got a shock.

This is interesting stuff. But who is your mate Matt. You can't leave us hanging like that.
My chauffeur
@@Badgerworkshopso there’s obviously good money to be made in the lamp business, or did you just get lucky when you polished one? 🤣
Just as a matter of interest. Do you earn your living from selling the items you make?
