This combat instruction is huge on the Maine. In this HE span meta, having a consumable that helps you deal with fires is the best. I think this is the most tanky ship in the game for HE meta by far.
Having the guns be more accurate than Montana's would be overkill. It's already more consistent than the other superbattleships. Giving it the 1.9 sigma of Montana would make it even more obnoxious to fight against than it already is. And to be honest I think they designed this ship with a furious build in mind, so they expect its reload realistically to be 30 seconds and below.
The weird thing is is that your previous maine videos with the exception of the secondary one were mostly really good performance. And you seemed pretty happy about it. Including the AA build one where you were able to stay alive along time despite getting a lot of carrier focus. Obviously, this one had some really good games too but I’m gonna take away that overall. This is probably the best Super ship for sure in just about every circumstance.
Best build on that one is still full survavability one, as with maximally minimised fire duration those combat instructions can cover 2 fires, that set one after other, in one go. So if you get 1 fire - use combat instructions, while case if you caught 2 fires instantly - use DCP (unless your combat instructions were already activated). That allows to rotate consumables and combat instructions and be permanently immune to fires. With this build on Maine, I died only 3 battles out of 27, despite my very agressive playstyle for EU server
I do find it funny, when the first sets of superships were coming out with ships like Annapolis, Conde, the super carriers, people were bitching about how unfair it was to T9s that those ships were so good.(remember the fear and panic that fell over the community when Russian superships were announced? Only to have them effectively be the T10 but with more HP?) We've now reached the point where those same people complain about a supership that's not a large upgrade over the TX of the line. Maine is still an upgrade, stock Maine has ~19k more HP, 54k higher alpha strike, ~46k more DPM, the funny button that makes fires a non-issue allowing for the taking of Heavy AP and Furious without really having to worry. Maine is slightly faster, with a better stock rudder shift. 14% better torp protection. Sure she has worse sigma, but it's funny... her sigma of 1.7 reminds me of something... oh right, Massachusetts. You know that ship everyone goes crazy for because it's "so good" and "really consistent". Maine is a more accurate Massachusetts(due to having access to the dispersion mod) with a massive boost to it's alpha strike, and far better survival.
> You know that ship everyone goes crazy for because it's "so good" and "really consistent" sir that's North Carolina, not Massa Massa just has US 16" guns that tend to more to stick into the ship and overpen less due to their high mass and low velocity
@@arczer2519 Not watched PQ much have ya'? Massa is his favourite ship, and the comments every time he makes a video on it, are full of people agreeing with HIM that it's super consistent and really powerful. I agree NC is better, but PQ's community would not.
@@Stephen__White he says it about shells being more consistent than gun accuracy. especially compared to French and German with overpen half the time, even through "technically" they have same or better sigma
Glad you are enjoying the Maine. I am also puzzled by the lack of spotter plane - doesn't seem like it would be a huge buff, but it would be welcome in certain situations. Also the nerfed sigma would make it not *quite* as useful at long range so it isn't like it's going to make the ship OP at all. Only subs and CV's get to be OP.
The ship already can have a huge main gun range, and with how the spotter plane works it would shadow buff its dispersion by a lot. It doesn’t need one, especially with how many guns it already has. Imagine that devstrike against the Izumo happening at least once every game with a spotter plane up, and you can imagine the problems it would cause. Even Satsuma struggles to pull off devstrikes with how bad its sigma is, and its funny button is meant to facilitate that. Now imagine Maine essentially getting a funny button that lasts 120 seconds base.
Glad I'm impressed for your gameplay of Maine so far. I kinda honestly for that is being a super Battleship has a 16 guns in total getting a massive damage on it. I'll getting on that this Super ship to be available on Update 13.4
The lack of a spotter plane makes since as it is supposedly a more modern design, you can see that it actually appears to have a helipad, and more modern ships with helipads would have no reason to have a plane catapult, however since helicopters aren't in the game, you get nothing lol
Call me crazy, but I'd totally love to see an all in, balls to the wall, skill setup. Swap Heavy AP for reduced fire/flooding time, and the extra heal for CQC. Then swap the concealment for longer secondary range and preventative maintenance. Push and make those guns get down to a nice 20s reload with fires and secondaries going off.
Iowa is a great battleship, I would say the top of her class, however remember to cover the broadside because it is relatively weak. Now if you are enjoying the Iowa you are going to love the Montana trust me. Also the legendary upgrade of the Montana in slot 5, gives rudder shift improvement and fire-flooding recovery time. Montana has been my go to ship since 2018
Honestly Iowa can be better than Montana. It’s much more maneuverable. Go in bow first at a range of 14-15km with allied support and aim for broadsides.
yeah i noticed that a lot, with my yoshino, shooting a DD (marceau) ~12 km i hit all my shells into her, and end up killing her, but i shoot at goulden louw my HE shells just went all over the place, it's ~12 km and same match btw
Dispersion against cruisers was nerfed years ago. That’s why dispersions are always tighter against dds. That’s the normal dispersion without the nerf.
I do feel like I have much tighter dispersion on DDs, especially in something like my Graf Spee. I've had both turrets in a full salvo have their shells touch before hitting a DD a couple times. Of course outnumbered was procced, but it's still wild to see.
couple questions as someone returning to the game. 1. is using Airstikes to draw AA fire and increase enemies detectabilty worth doing? 2. also I have been firing main guns while undetected early game to check if ships detect me. Caught a DD sneaking through once. is that a good idea? or is not worth it.=?
1. The concealment bloom goes as far as the ship's AA range when that armament is firing, and even then those planes don't have any spotting ability. This also gets countered pretty easily if the player you're trying this with knows how to turn their AA off. 2. That is DEFINITELY not worth doing regardless of the ship you're using, outside of extremely niche endgame situations. Doing that at the start of the game only ensures you get yourself spotted by everyone within your firing range and you make yourself a target for no real benefit.
As with all of the super ships, there is a fine line between "T11" and "utterly broken." Personally, I'd be fine with reasonably broken if they proportionally tax you for playing it; just my opinion. Thank you for the content.
Every time PQ greets at the start of a video, I am confused for about 2 seconds thinking I accidentally clicked on ChrisFix. Maybe should do a collab, repair a battleship in someone’s driveway.
so lets say someone has Yammy and Monty, has checked the boxes to buy a supership and wants to buy a T11 BB? Do you go Maine for all the great reasons described in this video or go Satsuma for the main gun sound effect and being able to dev strike CVs 4 min into the match?
Satsuma has a lot of the same weaknesses that Yamato has, so Maine will be much more consistent (unless you're doing super dumb stuff every game), simply because the F key is much more consistent and doesn't rely on a completely bugged to hell aiming system.
So, what irks me, beyond the Constellation having the wrong guns, the "Tillman" battleships in game not being any real designs, and instead odd amalgamations of paper and fantasy from the Devs, and the overreliance on garbage... is the fact the US Navy HATED quadruple turrets. They're not beneficial, and they're a bitch to make. Why, oh sweet lord why, with every paper Navy in the game, does the US not have a SINGLE ship with Overmatch capabilities? The Maine should have 12 457/48s. We have a ship (Montana) with 12 406/50s. That makes sense. According to the Dahlgren facility, the 457/48 didn't actually offer any real benefit over the 406/50, as the negatives simply outweighed the positives. BUT, this is WOWS, so 457/48s make sense. Somehow 3mm gives overmatch... I still don't know how they figured that, but there should have been a more numerous gunned 457mm armed US BB in the game, and the super ship was the way to do it. Also, Halsey is impossible to get unless you have paid actors on the enemy team or are lucky. WG hates me. I have the luck of the Irish during the famine.
not to be a "But Ackhsually, Potato," but your first ever salvo out of the Maine was HE. hey, speaking of, have you tried HE against destroyers/Those Underwater Pricks yet? i'd love to see what 16 16" HE shells do to, e.g., an Elbing. would be pog.
Maine is CBs is some of the most irritating shit to deal with. it's like a legmod Monty that can still take concealment anyways. unless you hardfocus the hell out of it it's practically immortal.
Well, considering the space and work load, the reload time should be slightly greater. However, the only possible reason for reduced accuracy and/or increased dispersion would be if they claim the additional gun per turret introduces additional vibration, and/or structural integrity is reduced. I don't buy either.
If WG builds an unkillable armored ship that has laser-sharp accurate 20-inch guns with 150k hp PQ would definitely not be satisfied and spend a lifetime to find the errors to expose them.
