So good to see young people that understand that the experiences of life are way more important than money or material things. Yes there must be balance, but so far you two are doing a great job. Happy New Year
Agreed! But your carrier should always be amongst your highest priorities. Without a job you cannot travel.. as you said you need a balance
So glad I found this channel!! Who’s with me
Loy Clements thank you ☺️ stoked to have you along for our journey!
I've been following for a while
Ooo... me me me! I wanna do a road trip around the USA!
Waiting for more sailing, but at least there was cleavage. Loy, keep searching. These guys are fucking off.
Same here!
So impressed on how well you guys kept costs low. This really makes me want to do a similar trip someday!
The way she looks at him... so sweet
I just went on a Roadtrip with my boyfriend for six months across the U.S. I love the idea of mini fridge and campsite. We spent a lot of money on Airbnb because we need to work in separate spaces to avoid zoom meeting conflicted at the same time.
We just love food and cook a lot in Airbnb, and we even brought our own cooking element if the room lacked one. Cooking helps us save a lot of money.
Thank you for sharing. I also shared my experiences of digital nomad for six months on my UA-cam Channel to help people know different types of living style.
Right now me and my girlfriend are planning a year long road trip!! Almost like this one. Got a bit over 10k saved for it atm but definitely know now I need a lot more thanks for your help with this video. I’m truly excited!
WOW, I just did an 8 day road trip and spent over $32,000 spared no expense and really enjoyed all the luxury suites, villas, skylofts, and penthouses etc shot out to the waldorf astoria great views!
do you still need a gf? ;) haha just kidding
,32k wtf
You know how live it up. :)
could have bought a car. maybe 2 cars but fuck it 8 days of living i guess
@@justjunk3268 Just spent 12K on new supercharger for truck only live once!
Drive to Alaska. I've done it twice just for fun. It is a great trip.
Binging from the beginning. Sailed long ago on a 25’Pacific Seacraft. Now retired in FL the dreamin has begun again! Thank you for all you do!
I just came back from 1 week road trip for 2000 miles across 4 national parks, and now I'm hooked up
Klamath Falls, Oregon, I lived in that area when I was younger, beautiful peaceful little town. Fond memories.
Very good adventuring on a budget. One word on tents. Our family of four, when our children were small, we purchased a new Eureka 11 x 11 tent. That was over 20 years ago. The tent is still in great shape other than one bent pole. It pays to invest in quality sometimes because it will last!
pahunter3 absolutely! Our tent was actually from some credit card rewards points that needed to be used up 🙂
You guys rock, I’m 50 with 3 kids and one in college, wish I had you two when I was 20, I really hope your generation is listening and will follow your footsteps, your experiences will teach you so much and help you rescue what we screwed up. By the way Minnesota is not just a way to get to Chicago’s pizza, next time your passing through, my couch is available and I’ll make you stay a day or two.
You will make them stay?
@@halloween7275 did he stutter? God damn right make them stay lol
I'm very happy for the both of you for living your lives the way you've chosen. Time goes by so fast and the next thing you know is you've gotten old. I applaud you both! And Ryan you have to be the luckiest man alive!
I love you $ nerds... just so open with how you do what you do... great vid as always now go sailing ... much hugs from the UK
Men, I really want to RV all over America! I love my job but I would love to quit and just RV throughout america!
Me too
Be smart about it but do it sooner rather than later, you never know what might happen, enjoy YOUR life
First. Need my license. Second. Buy a cheap and good car. And them I can plan
You can tell how in love they are haha
I *love* adventures. (Visited 26 countries so far) That's why I love this video.
Sometimes avoiding tolls can add upwards of 10s of 20s of miles so you'd actually be putting that money into gas vs paying a toll.
I sure hope you two stick with this journey because it is fun to watch. You answer all the questions I have, and you are both really good on camera. Remember to always keep your videos moving, a great short video is always better than a not so great long one. Also I hope you remember that YOU TWO are the stars of this channel. The more you let us into your lives the more connected we will be and loyal as viewers. We can find great travel channels anywhere, but I would bet most of us are more interested in YOU..How are your feeling about this journey, about each other, what are you cooking, eating, spending, how are your keeping warm or cool, showering? What do you love or not love about each other? All of those little fun facts build a bridge between you and your audience..never let the facts get in the way of a good story, feelings are what makes viewers care..you two are awesome, and we feel good after watching your stories! Cant wait until the next one, it sounds like big things are coming your way. Maybe a company got real smart, and gave you something to promote that is really cool..I hope so.
Your channel reaches all ages, we have grand kids your age to give you an idea. Your channel, your commentary and your adventures are extremely enjoyable. Travel safe.
Jim H thank you so much for the kind words and support. Really makes the time we spend on AC worth it when we know we're making an impact on people's lives.
As always... great video with a lot of useful how-to information.
Happy to hear the info helps, Rusty!!
Next hurricane season Alaska for sure!!!!!!! Please make sure you do the northern California, Oregon Washington part again...........sooooo gorgeous. (100% transparency, I'm from the Pacific Northwest so a little biased)
Oregon, Oregon, Oregon! (sorry from there)
Great adventure hut off to y'all I wish everyone get to do this on a yearly basis. I do this every day for work.
The gas is just sooooo cheap in the US. And crossing a big bridge for 46 Canadian dollars also an ok price compares to prices in Denmark :-) And the average income in the US is not that bad either compares to Denmark.
Denmark is noted to be the Happiest country on earth. Yes high tax rates, but free health care, free education and higher learning, 12 months maternity leave, 5 weeks of annual vacation time. There are many things to envy there as well. Keep being the happiest country :)
Richard Thomas I have spend some years in the US. Denmark has a very well thought through system to provide the cittizens a good and safe life. So yes, I'm happy to be living in this wonderful country. Btw, 6 weeks annual vaccation time.
Bridge to pei is like 150-170$$$
@@richardthomas9263 Says high taxes, but also free. That isn't how free works.
@@differentlyabledmuslimjewi4475 I understand and you are correct that is not free but there expenses is shared.
Loving everything about this vlog. Might be doing a road trip across the US myself this summer. Didn't know what the price point would be. Thank you!
Best of luck to you two. You are following my dream, and I hope I can one day do the same!
Good hope you have lot of experiences in the Ways.100 Days. Thanks sharing.
That Free Camp Sites tip is GOLD! Thanks!
Thank you so much for this video! I plan on doing a USA road trip after school and the whole time I was afraid I won´t be able to afford it :) guess I might be now haha
If you road trip again and end up in Central Mississippi, stop by for some fresh eggs. My wife and I have a smallish flock that produces more than we can eat.
Really useful info in here guys, especially for someone from outside the US (i.e. me) who is planning a trip.
In 2013, I spent February through September living (working) in Redding,CA. I noticed you may have driven through Redding heading North through the Mt. Shasta area. I used to go camping on the weekends at various spots between Redding and Mt. Shasta. What a beautiful part of the Country! The drive alone in that area on highway 5 through the mountains was spectacular. Your trip was epic, and I'm happy you were both able to accomplish it. Thanks for posting this video! Oh, and before I forget... we're looking forward to 'bikini weather', (smiling).
Google maps has an option to avoid tolls
Love it! 😍 Thanks for the lowdown on the apps, had no idea. It seems too many folks wanna do things 1st class, which is fine if you have the money, but many don't and then they go into debt. 😐 The fact you guys love PP&J - 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Something to consider next hurricane season is heading toward Panama. Theres an area that's outside the "hurricane zone", but you'd still be on the Gulf side. There's plenty to see and when hurricane season is over you can head back to the Carribean or continue your journey west.
Hope you guys have a fun, memmorable New Year's Eve celibration! 😊⛵⛵⛵⛵⛵😍👍👍👍👍
bill4nier Panama is definitely on our list! Itd be a 4-5 day open ocean passage from Cayman Island so itd definitely push our comfort zones. Guess well have to wait & see !
Push your comfort zone??? You should be ol' salts by then (including the little guy)!! 😉
I am about the early retire and this is what my wife and I planned for it....thanks for sharing R & K.
You guys are living many people's dream but you are very awake. I am loving this channel. Very informative and inspiring.
You guys did what I'm just about to do myself. Actually, last night was when I finally cracked my route to go from SoCal to New England, down the east coast and return home in an indeterminate amount of time. I'm on s motorcycle , not a prius (and that model car is responsible for about 65% of cars who almost kill me in traffic. But you seem like nice people, so all is forgiven.) Im shocked at how close we are with our routes.
This is the first video of yours I've seen, but I'm a big fan.
Thank you for the video, it has been very inspirational for me as I'm planning a trip across country. Breaking down costs and giving great ideas has been very beneficial. Again thank you!
I drove to Alaska with my two wheaten terriers and unequivocally the best road trip ever.
Y’all are goals ❤️
Loved the Mr. Money Mustache reference. I figured you guys might be Mustachians. ;-)
You two look great together.. I leave Naples, around the first week of April.. Gonna sail away, myself..
You do not want to drive to Alaska in a Prius. It's a 2500 mile dirt road with wash outs. If you're going to do it, take a truck with a good suspension and plenty of tools. Otherwise, the best way is to take the ferry from Seattle.
Regarding the free campsites in Oregon, we pretty much just pitch our tents where ever and I've never had any issues with it. The organized sites used to all be free, but unfortunately, that changed a while back. There's still plenty of places where you can pitch a tent though. mostly we just clear off a level area and have at it.
Thanks for your video. I'm doing this soon in a 4x4 F250.
I'm so happy I stumbled upon your channel. You guys got it together. Carry on.
Hey guyz! Enjoying the vids...
kind of a unique approach for this type of channel, but I think it works ! HAPPY NEW YEAR !! Bruce/SW Florida
Love that statement “Just Go!” That is so true! What does one weekend away mean when you can explore your own backyard. Love your videos!
Good job on providing detail on the costs of your road trip. Personally I think you provide plenty of detail although I understand others might prefer more. I love our National parks and there are few that I have not yet visited in the western US. Looking forward to seeing you guys back on the water.
Miss you guys. Thx for mentioning Spokane
I love that you have the Chicago pizza place on par with some of the most beautiful natural wonders in North America.
I've made 3 roadtrips in the US, all lasting 21 days and they've cost me between 3000 and 4000 each!
Just found you guys!!! We are wanting to do some road tripping in our Prius with a rooftop tent!
I've preferred free campsites to paid ones as well! We camped inside Zion's paid campground, but actually preferred the free areas right outside the park.
Flip side was Yosemite- the free camping outside the park was an hour away and really not pleasant. The campgrounds inside the park are AMAZING.
But there are definitely some amazing free campsites. Only limiting factor is coastal areas and areas around national parks without free camping.
I love this video. The best videos I have seen of this type!!!! Amazing, thanks for sharing!
Some great suggestions! Re. the toll roads, I have found in the past if you avoid the commuter toll routes the alternate roads are usually much more scenic and pleasant to drive.
me and my internet friends (ive known them for 3 years but we've never met) are planning a roadtrip during a planned gap year after graduation in 2 years so im prepping myself on info😂
kaylin h still a plan?
$4000?! You guys are awesome! Thanks for the video!
Thanks for all of the info! You guys rock!
I'm planning on moving out of Florida and I figured I'd make it into a month long road trip. So I'm going to travel to several places in in the US on my way to California. This was a super helpful video- although I won't be on the road for 100 days like you two did, this was still super helpful and gave me a good insight. One day, I'll take a trip as long as you two did.
Thanks! Much love to you both
Hey guys, I got enthusiastic to hear you in this video. I am from Israel and wanting to do such a trip..
Doing this is definitely on my bucket list for the near future
Get on the boat and get to the Bahamas and then see how you feel when hurricane season gets closer. If you need a break from the boat, do a road trip! If not, sail home and see the fam!
Agreed! This is more than likely what will happen but we really have no idea what awaits us around the corner. I guess that's the beauty of this lifestyle :)
Awesome vid!
So, you've spent about $950 for lodging in 100 days. Taking into account how much inns and motels cost in the US during summer season, then you should have stayed in those for about 10-12 times during the whole trip. That means having a shower once in every 8-10 days? Or did you exploit other shower possibilities besides at motels?
On the grand total, it would look quite different for me, as I'm renting my apartment, my monthly running costs including all bills are approx. $1700. Being away for 3 1/2 months and without work/income, that would add up to $5700, that I would have to come up with. So, in my case, the actual cost will be around $10000.
No one ever TALKS ABOUT THIS! ty for doing that.
Just because you take 3 months off doesnt stop 3 months of living expenses. and they say the money you spend on rent you can do on the Road trip. if i stop working how do i come up with 4k for the trip.
I make min wage 1200$ a month. my monthly expenses are 1000$. i only got 200$ left. so i got 2 options to make a trip like this happen for me
Option one - never spend an go out and have fun for 2 Years! 200$x 12 = 2400 x 2 - 4800$ so almost 2 years of boredom to make that happen. then i have to quit my Job and when i come back start all over again finding a stable Job.
option two - sleep in my car, an essentially become homeless, and in 4 months i can then go on the trip.
People like them they have better Jobs or there owners and can pick up where they left off when they return. But for most people , we make min wage
Hi all the way from Trinidad and Tobago. ........ You guys are inspiring. I dream of doing the things you guys do.
We did pretty much that trip with eight children for under 5k including food, etc. We had our travel trailer and boondocked a lot! It was so fun.
I hope when you were near Rochester, N.Y. you vosited Letchworth State Park.
Yes, gas is terrible!!
We want to do this SO bad!!! Thank you for making this video! We are planning a year trip soon!
Great job guys! If you do make the Alaska trip, make sure to hit that camp ground in Oregon again and after that I'd be happy to see you two before you hit Portland. Take care and have a great New Years!
this is goals.
You guys are amazing. My wife and I dropping double that for a six day vacation.
Hey guys! Did y’all ever publish the video on your favorite free campsites? I’d love to watch it.
You guys did great! We have a trip planned soon to travel 30-45 days. We have budgeted $6,000.00 but hoping to come home with around $1,000.00 because we have to pay a pet sitter. Happy travels!
**Sorry for all the comments-I tend to comment as I watch. I avoid tolls too, but I'm Gen X, not a Millennial-I don't have a smart phone. I use a map. AAA maps show the toll roads, and I don't take them (Unless I cross a bridge, or something where I have to)
Cool trip, only thing is you totally missed visiting is one of the biggest cruising/boating areas in the US. That would be the Great Lakes.
You kids pretty much hit the outskirts of the United States try the central United States there's a lot to see you there you can spend months and months and months in Tennessee Kentucky Virginia that's the east side then you get over and Memphis area and all through Oklahoma Missouri all kinds of stuff to do.... great video thanks for sharing kiddos.... Be blessed... BBE 🤗🤗👍 👍😀💗
Great tips for road tripping through the USA. I will definitely check out that free campsites website. New Sub.
Goes to show you can still have a great trip on a budget. LOL was eating PB&J while watching this episode :)
Awesome. greetings from Englewood, FL It's on my bucket lost to do a road trip like this cool!
Awesome shout-out for Mr. Money Mustache!!
Wow, well done! I really admire your discipline and you make me want to improve my own!
Do the Great Loop!!! That will totally avoid hurricane season! Cheers
Tnx for reminding me to update my Park Pass. Great video.
thank you very much for making this video and sharing your experience. just subbed.
me and my lass are busy planning a month long trip in the midwest and west coast. should be fun
love your channel, i think you guys are both brave. I applaud you both... GO LIVE.
That 50$ bridge to PEI, haha, I thought they misplaced the decimal 😂 but for 75$ you get to leave on the ferry which is pretty cool and saves time....
Thanks interesting, here in Scotland we can wild camp for free and we also have right of way that allows you to walk though other people's land. Makes seeing the country alot easier and cheaper. Looking forward to your 2018 sailing videos
Ok you guys are fast becoming my fav.
Love the costings, so nice to see. But what price is the experience! Majic.
Keep doing what you are doing, its worth it at 10 times that cost. More!
You dont know how lucky you are...And I feel guilty watching with out paying.
Thanks for the inspiration and sharing yr journey, yr dream.
Now get out on the water!
wow 23K miles.. I have been doing long road trip drive as well, but my longest per one road trip was 8,000 miles. drive safely...
In 1970 I hitchhiked alone around the country for about 3 months. I left home with $100 and returned with $120. Worked odd jobs along the way to pay for the trip. With inflation being what it is and there are 2 of you and you drove, you did way better than me.
Alaska/Yukon
What an informative video, guys! Thaaaanks a lot !
The feeling of finding like-minded people. It’s good.
If you drive to Alaska stay on the alcan pay the tolls the cassier hiway is BAD one and a half lane wide meaning if you meet someone comming towards you you have to pull over. And it's like being at sea if something happens you are alone. No help. Stay on the alkan
You should go surfing in Iceland next hurricane season :)
Thinking about doing this alone.
How did you “take your fridge” while camping?
So glad u too so many videos
Great breakdown video. Now show us your boat fit-out projects! :)
Would you please explain how to drain the oil through the axle ends? (saw hub caps on ground) :-) I am guessing you tightened/checked the lug nuts before the trip? Great money management for a trip around the country, and to Canada. Sorry to hear about the theft!
Great video. Lots of great info. I just took a holiday south bound road trip for a 8 days (ends tomorrow) making a loop from Virginia down to South Carolina going only places I've never been with no set plans. Had a great time and saw some incredible places. I can definitely see where the costs of such a trip can be. Food is definitely my downfall. Need to get a frig. That's the way to go.
Amazing y'all. Thanks for the awesome video.
Free camping is a way of life, too... Follow Steve Wallis channel, too. He's full of great ideas!
