God I love Donna Burke, she's got such a powerful voice. She voices the main device you use in MGSV the Idroid. She also sings one of my favourite songs from the Final Fantasy franchise which is from Chrystal Chronicles.
It's sorta become a meme song at this point, and I don't know everyone else's opinion on it, but this is in my opinion one of the best vocal video game songs ever performed. It just hits you like a truck every time you hear it.
If you like this song you should listen "Heavens divide" from MGS Peace Walker, the prequel of the MGS V The Phantom Pain. Also both song are vocal by Donna Burke.
Sins of the Father is so damn great! Such an amazing build up, with small teases of what's to come in that final breakdown, which is just breathtaking in it's results. Definitely gotta give Heaven's Divide a listen, Donna Burke really killed it on that one from Peacewalker, starting like some kinda 60's love song, it quickly finds it's way into a galloping, driving rhythm that is just invigorating! The passion from Heaven's Divide is there just as strong as Sins of the Father. Great vid as always Jessie
Where the song plays in full, I wont spoil, but the "Woah-hoaw" part plays on its own when you fast forward time function in-game. MGSV is a direct sequel to MGS Peace Walker, and Hideo Kojima's last game during his time at Konami.
By far one of my favorite songs in gaming as a whole!! Sins of The Father is so powerful not just because of Donna’s voice but the accompanying instruments work together perfectly and does not distract from the main vocals!! Such a powerful and haunting soundtrack!!
Peace Walker is a must before going into MGSV, if you ever get to those games. I personally didn't see what people loved about V so much, but I did largely enjoy Peace Walker.
Its peace walker, in bigger area, kibda open world. Juicy juicy beloved fulton. Grinding, sneaking, snaking. I enjiyed the fzme But i regret it as my first preorder on steam got. Got the gzme one week AFTER LAUNCH, in physical FOR WAT? 1 cd with steam installed in it and stezm code. OOOOH THE RAGEEEE. But i didn t mind. Just enjoying the shit of the game. When konami decided to delete your hzrd earned in gzme cirrency in set period if time znd want to make you buy WITH REAL MONEY an insurance so that your fob get part of resource griefed ( ingame gzmeplay) i szid f it. And anyone could get on your stuff even if you re not connected. Add the suikoden case, znd i want them to blow up so much we can get the ips back
The song encapsulates the themes of the game absolutely perfectly. The theme being played during a rainstorm, *chef’s kiss*. It doesn’t happen every time given the realtime weather systems, but it is HIGHLY likely and usually works out that in the moment where the song finally plays in fill, it’s downpouring. I feel the song was meant to accompany it.
As a MGS fan, I recommend playing it, I think I put around 130 hours into it? Anyway, you gotta see it through, Kojima's final work with Konami. KOJIMA IS GOD! KOJIMA IS GOD!
I only wish that such an amazing song was used in a better way in the actual game. Aside from that, it's definitely one of the best pieces from Metal Gear Solid as a series. Donna Burke is absolutely incredible.
quite possibly the most hype trailer ever, so the song was prolly a lot of people's first introduction to the game, and maybe even the series. MGS hadn't had a console release since 4, Revengeance was a spin-off based on 4 too. "MGS is their baby, and they take care of it" If only....
Gameplay wise V is really good. There is a lot of crazy things you can do. The story is a bit of a mess though, at least in my opinion. It's really spaced apart and relies on the audio tapes a bit too much. For instance if you don't listen to them Snake talks maybe a dozen times total throughout the game and that might be too high an estimate. I will say though I still enjoy it and have even gone through it again recently.
It's literally incomplete is the problem. Kojima had an entire 3rd act planned, but he was removed from the project before he could finalize it and get it in the game.
@@smward87 the incomplete Part is 1 big Flaw of the Game. But for me it Destroys the complete Series because of the Ending. And specially the old Metal Gear Games.
You absolutely have to play this game, it's very different but very amazing still. Hideo doesn't miss. It's about Big Boss and the whole lyrics talk about Bigg Boss becoming who we eventually know he will be. Also you have to play Ground Zero before you play five it's the prequel
It’s still a convoluted masterpiece. I think the game is amazing the way it is, if you analyse the story for what it’s supposed to be. It’s an anti-war story, basically, and in that, it succeeds.
As someone who grew up playing every MGS game and has loved the series. V was a very flawed and unfinished game that suffered from development hell. However, I still managed to put a thousand hours into it just to 100% it and I had a fantastic time, it still felt amazing to play. It very easily could have been the greatest MGS game of all time but with the relationship breakdown between Konami and Kojima, it was not to be. MGS3 remains the peak, for me. (The spectacle of MGS4 is really fun though, as stupid as it gets)
The game has really good songs on it and even now it looks good and plays good too. I'm gonna go off on a tangent about the game so making a gap to save people reading it that don't want to xD MGSV is such a tragic game, mostly in its creation. It was supposed to be the last connecting game that joined the Naked Snake Era with the Solid Snake Era and it starts out strong but just *falls apart* at the latter half of the 2nd act and the majority of the 3rd. All the blame falls squarely on Konami. They forced Kojima to make the game in such a short timespan, didn't let him finish it and pushed it to release just to make a quick buck and then FIRED him. This made the finished game a mess. Plot threads are not finished, things are not explained and nothing is resolved, not even the main story. You just get the twist dropped on you then it goes 'Game over go home'. The story literally stops, it doesn't end. It stops midway through and then credits roll. There's even an entire ark that was in the middle of being made and has left over cutscenes in the game that had to be dropped because Konami was like "Stop what you're doing, we're dropping this NOW!". Even years later I'm still effing pissed about how Konami handled their prize franchise and Goose (Kojima) and basically went "We want to only make Pachinko games now so get out". Then they taint it Further with a blatant cashgrab and forced it into the MGS franchise, Survive. A zombie survival game that is the most uninspired garbage you could play that actually decides to put straight up eldritch monsters in teh game and try and call it 'canon'. Such a grand misuse of a beloved franchise because Konami couldn't just wait, ffs.
@@雨s because Kojima really wanted this game to come out great and how he wanted it to go, but Konami basically became too greedy and barely gave Kojima enough time to finish the game. Yeah, Kojima kept pushing the deadline, but that was because he wanted to finish this game and wanted it to be perfect. It's even worse that Konami even banned Kojima from appearing at the Video Game Awards back in 2015.
Sins of the father is incredible. I also recommend the song with the same singer 'Calling to the night' from MGS Portable Ops. MGS5 is worth a play I think. Gameplay is really fun but the story isn't great, it's not even complete. The game got released before it was finished. It's a sequel to MGS3 and Peace Walker and a prequel leading into the original Metal Gear (not Solid)
From a metal gear solid hardcore fan and a guitarist also lol,to another you are really missing a whole world of epic metal gear if you haven’t played V , the if you know you know about the climbing the ladder part , there’s so much of these moments in it, and the soundtrack is Epic cheers mate I envy you that you will experience it all as new , it was the last thing Kojima did before leaving Konami.
The MGS series was also a massive part of my life... I obsessed over every single one, and loved every single one... except 5 tbh. To sum it up it is absolutely a 10/10 video game but only a 7/10 Metal Gear game, which is disappointing as I genuinely regard 1 through 4 as absolute 10/10s.
The gameplay of MGSV is extremely fun and good the first time you play the game, it's not a game imo that you complete and carry on playing for hours, but more fun to play in a huge burst for like 2 weeks straight every 6 months to a year after initially beating it
MGS V is, excluding certain problematic elements, about 2/3s of a very good game. Unfortunately, the game's development was infamously cut short due to Kojima's fights with Konami's leadership, leaving the game feeling incomplete, and sadly leaving the series on a bit of a sour note, because he left/was fired (long story) right after MGS V came out.
MGS V is a bit of a mess of a game, the entire 3rd act is cutscenes with no real connecting parts, and it does not end where you think it does. that mostly comes from Hideo Kojima not wanting to make it in the first place and then it getting messed up by Konami who really just wanted to sell more Pachinko machines. but I genuinely enjoyed playing it, so there is that.

No matter how much time will pass "Woah-hoaw" will forever be remembered both as one of the best Donna Burke performances and memes out there
"Words that kill

Hits different after walkthrough
Real talk, I'm not fully through but just got doing Mission 43. That shit was rough
Yeah, 43 is brutal. But 45 more fitting for this line tbh

Kind of wild that she voiced angela in silent hill 2
She also is the English announcer on the bullet trains (as far as I know, in JR West). It was wild to realise that when last I was there 💜
She also has a great song in the Tokyo Ghoul soundtrack. Well worth a listen.
It's sorta become a meme song at this point, and I don't know everyone else's opinion on it, but this is in my opinion one of the best vocal video game songs ever performed. It just hits you like a truck every time you hear it.
doesn't help that how they put the song really helped fuelling the meme, my god that was bad... what a disservice to this amazing song
Hits more like a Jeep ride

MGS 3 Snake eater is also a banger
If you like this song you should listen "Heavens divide" from MGS Peace Walker, the prequel of the MGS V The Phantom Pain. Also both song are vocal by Donna Burke.
Yeah, I cant stress enough how important Peace Walker is, and Kojima only arbitrarily didnt give it a number because it initially released on the PSP.
Despite the problems I have with Peace Walker, I definitely enjoyed it more than MGSV. Heavens Divide is definitely one of the things it nailed.
Also calling to the night from portable ops while not done by donna it still slaps
I'm totally nitpicking here, but Peace Walker isn't a prequel. It comes before MGSV, but that's what makes something a prequel.
Heavens Divide is my favourite song from all Metal Gear songs. It's so beautiful
