- In this video I attempt to introduce Tasha to the Metal Gear series.
The Metal Gear series is one of my favorite gaming franchises of all time. I initially started with Metal Gear Solid on Playstation and worked my way to final game the Phantom Pain. Although the story is incredibly convoluted, I attempted to explain to this to my wife as I introduced her to the franchise.

@@FATMAN162x It's bad of course, but Kojima wanted to finish the series and create something new.and Metal Gear is over anyway, now we can only wait for remakes and relaunch of the series, from some other talented Japanese creator.
Teaching the basics of quantum mechanics is easier than teaching someone about Metal Gears story who hasn’t heard of metal gear.
As a teen girl in the early 2000s. I grew up watching my brothers play metal gear solid. And now years later in 2023. Im picking up Metal gear solid V. Its so goofy, tactical, sad, dark, beautiful, anti war, and magnificent. The metal gear solid series is a master piece from the first old game to the very last.

Poor girl: just saw a lot of torture scenes and gore with no context, then child soldiers, a guy sneaking then killing then chocking a child for no reason... I understand why she doesn't want to see nothing more of it

it is impossible to make people understand what he feels. you had to be there for the whole ride and evolution of video games to fully grasp what this series and hideo did.
ofc some people still get into the series and play the old games too and enjoy them but its something different when you grow up with them, being a child often even dont understand the nuances of the deterrent story he is witnessing. playing these games over and over for month until finally the next one comes out which also brings gaming into an new era every time. starting today finishing one oafter another and only look at them as old "ugly" games just does not give people the same perspective. i applaud every young person that can get into playing the old games and truly appreciate for whty they are and not just what they were.
this makes me happy seeing Metal gear Getting shown to the uninitiated.

I felt that showing the MGSV trailer without context was too much for Tasha😂. You should introduce her by how most of us learned about Metal Gear series through MGS1 cutscenes and then MGS2. If she grows to like it, then you can find a quick vid explaining what happened during original Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2:Solid Snake to learn about Solid's green days and Big Boss going from Commander to villain then watching cutscenes for the CLASSIC, SNAKE EATER. I thought about that too but with MGS series you have to play it to really get the game. I think playing it might too much for her although the story is so good until they butcher it.

Too bad Phantom Pain was an incomplete game with the downgrade in storytelling and repetive sidemissions. Ya the big trailer that opens with 3 mins of torture and pain, that then showcases game mechanics that are exciting for long time players of MGS, isn't going to draw a newcomer in. I'd recommend trying again with Snake eater, it's more cinematic and like an old action spy movie.
Certain themes in metal gear are serious but there are definitely fantastical elements and characters and gameplay silliness that will allow you to dissociate and keep the game from being too heavy and traumatic.
Please give it a chance. Or at least start off with cutscenes from snake eater. It is an excellent series. Either way enjoying the reactions.

New to games as of 2022 I bought this game because everyone recommends it and it was like $8.50 CAD and only now I realize hadn't even seen the trailer.
I'd seen the first few hours of gameplay but this looks even wilder than I thought!

@11:26 Metal Gear franchise show A LOT of what happens in real life.....and if you start with the mgs1 and especially mgs2 you will see how they "predicted" or rather predictively programmed (showing or hinting at future events in real life) actually real events
and MGS4 gives the chefs kiss for the conclusion
Love the video, it's always good to see metal gear videos these days! you should react to the Phantom Pain's Kojima trailer, it shows most games in the series and feels like a proper goodbye from the series.

Calling MGS The phantom pain, confusing, is an understatement. Lol the whole MGS is confusing, cus you can't play the games by order of release, if you want it to be chronologically ordered.
Show her the 2014 E3 trailer too. It will not change her mind lol. But she needs to know that the maker of Metal Gear cares about the problems in the world and that's why he put them in the game.

There is a video called Metal Gear Solid -The Movie [HD] Full Story by KefkaProduction that I seen after a quick search, it's a 4 hour video but it seems to have all the cutscenes, the important codec calls and a little gameplay if you want to get the story without playing it yourself.

I think it be best if you just show her the "metal gear retrospective" by Gingy. Yeah it's 5 hours long, but that's still shorter than playing the games. Plus I think showing her Phantom Pain first was a bad move, it's definitely the darkest one in the series.

It's like any other big story. You've just gotta take it piece by piece. I recommend starting with Metal Gear Solid 1, and play them in order of release from there.

The gameplay is hard for those who havent been used to stealth so I think the cutscenes would be perfect tbh.

The first metal gear game I’ve played was MGS2 sons of liberty and I understood the story then I played mgs3 the mgs4 and went back to mgs1
Aw man. MGS' story is so fuckin convoluted, I had to drop it. Thing is, I read a summary of the games twice, at seperate times, and enjoyed it, and still haven't retained all the damn info, especially when folks keep coming back alive and dying and coming alive again 😂

Peace Walker falls between 3 and 5 and is actually quite important.
Also another great anti-war game, that worth watching, is Spec Ops: The Line

I really don't get what's so difficult about explaining MG's story. It's not short so it'll take a while but it's not hard.
MGS story line is incredibly difficult to explain to a non- gamer since it usually takes someone to play the games to become invested in the characters. If someone never played MGS3 they would never truly know how bad ass Big Boss really is. The same can be said about the MGS1. I can imagine if someone watching a short video or listening to someone explain the events of shadow moses. The listener could never really appreciate how cool Solid Snake is.
@@TNTGamingonline I don't need to explain how awesome or cool or badass the characters are if I am explaining the story itself though. If I remove unnecessary details about the story and explain only the important parts, it's pretty easy but long winded.
