Metal gear is inspired by James Bond Kojima himself confirmed this as fact, so yeah the spy film feel is very much appropriate for this series of games since it is an infiltration and stealth game where every now and then you fight some goofy Bond-esque villains who have their own niches and you are a lone soldier a special one who mastered infiltration being sent to deal with them much like James Bond, minus the fancy parties and martini's just the rugged action of being in uncomfortable situations and environments with the bare minimum of essentials

The reason it gives that James Bond feel is due to MGS3's setting taking place during the Cold War in the 1960s and Naked Snake (Big Boss) being tasked with traversing a jungle in the Soviet Union to kill the person that trained him while at the same time preventing a nuclear war. Hideo Kojima's storytelling is something else. Man originally wanted to be a director, but went on to tell his stories through gaming as a medium.
That's because MGS 3 basically is a bond film, if instead of a secret agent, Bond was instead a marine. And it DOES have the James Bond Opening animation in the game itself. Hideo Kojima, the creator, describes himself as 90% movies.

The reason this song sounds so different from Revengeance's osts it's mainly because Revengeance is really different from other Metal Gear Games. While Revengeance is a fast-paced action game, the other games lean more into the stealth/infiltration genre. That's also why Snake Eater sounds like a James bond song. Metal Gear game series is a homage to James Bond movies, it was meant to bridge a gap between movies and gaming, to make you play a game as the main protagonist in a bond movie. Not only the song, but the way the story is told, with the richness of cutscenes and stories add to the gamers feel of being in a movie.

As for the games OSTs - Hollow Knight and Celeste have some great ones. All of Celeste soundtrack is made by Lena Raine, an amazing musician, she also made quite a few soundtracks to minecraft. I would recommend "Mirror Magic" and "Resurrections" made by her. As for Hollow Knight, probably "Sealed Vessel", "Grimm", "Nightmare King" or "Truth, Beauty and Hatred".

The Metal Gear Solid games always had the subtitled "Tactical Espionage Action." They are the story of multiple super soldiers who hold the name "Snake." Stealth is the focus. Metal Gear Rising is a spin-off and is entirely action-based with a completely different main character to Snake. The "Solid" entries in the franchise all had epic soundtracks. I could recommend pretty much any song from Supergiant's games but I will go with The Spine from Transistor. Darren Korb is my favorite maker of music and sound design (and he does voice acting) in video games.

If you want to play MGS3 Snake Eater yourself, it actually still totally holds up to modern games. It even does unique things that other games don't do nearly as well. And the boss battles are all epic. The End's boss battle in particular is known as one of the best, if not the best, sniper vs sniper battles in any game ever. And even if you dont know anything about the series, you will be fine playing Snake Eater cause is is a total prequal that you will be able to enjoy even and understand as a first time MGS player. Now you have to listen to The Best Is Yet To Come. That is from the first Metal Gear Solid game. It is totally old school in the best way possible. While you're at it, the Main Theme from MGS 1 is great too. The Main Theme for MGS2 Sons Of Liberty is an updated version of the same track. Finally, the MGS3 Main Theme is the final and most updated version of this same track. All three tracks sound very similar, but they are all distinctly different and fit the vibe of the game they are connected to perfectly. None of them have vocals. They are pure action. The next MGS song that is an absolute must listen is Love Deterrence from MGS Peace Walker. I would recommend you find the full animated music video for the song for the best listening experience. I believe the next song is also from Peace Walker. It is Heavens Divide. A beautifully powerful song. The final song I am going to recommend is called "Two Han Princess Oishii Two han Seikatsu". That one is not technically played during the game per se. However, it is very important to many MGS4 Guns Of The Patriots players. I remember putting it on the in game iPod and running around fighting battles along side the militia in the Middle East and the rebels in South America. I would also play it during boss battles on higher difficulties cause it was good for recovering Old Snakes Psych Gauge. Plus is just a total banger!

So what you have to remember here is that this is Metal Gear Solid, the main series, Rising is a spin off with a very different feel to MGS, Snake eater is supposed to have the cold war spy thriller feel to it which this song really does invoke in spades, it really is amazing. MSG 1 and 2's main themes are stunning as well but sadly they had to drop it cus of a rather questionable copyright dispute. 4's theme is also stunning and really does add to the feel of the story. All in all MGS's themes are stunningly good, all of them. Not to mention "The best is yet to come", that song is so beautiful.
metal gear rising and metal gear revengeance are in the same universe but have nothing in common with the metal gear solid series that why they sound so different

I've never actually played Metal Gear, but even still this song legit gives me chills every time I listen to it.
Metal Gear game series is a homage to James Bond movies, it was meant to bridge a gap between movies and gaming, to make you play a game as the main protagonist in a bond movie. Not only the song, but the way the story is told, with the richness of cutscenes and stories add to the gamers feel of being in a movie.

As for the games OSTs - Hollow Knight and Celeste have some great ones. All of Celeste soundtrack is made by Lena Raine, an amazing musician, she also made quite a few soundtracks to minecraft. I would recommend "Mirror Magic" and "Resurrections" made by her. As for Hollow Knight, probably "Sealed Vessel", "Grimm", "Nightmare King" or "Truth, Beauty and Hatred".
If you haven't already I'd love you to dive into some of the Silent Hill game sound tracks. Akira Yamaoka is an absolute legend in the horror survival genre and he kinda gave birth to the whole Lofi vibe that exists today.

The Metal Gear Solid games always had the subtitled "Tactical Espionage Action." They are the story of multiple super soldiers who hold the name "Snake." Stealth is the focus. Metal Gear Rising is a spin-off and is entirely action-based with a completely different main character to Snake. The "Solid" entries in the franchise all had epic soundtracks.

If you want to play MGS3 Snake Eater yourself, it actually still totally holds up to modern games. It even does unique things that other games don't do nearly as well. And the boss battles are all epic. The End's boss battle in particular is known as one of the best, if not the best, sniper vs sniper battles in any game ever. And even if you dont know anything about the series, you will be fine playing Snake Eater cause is is a total prequal that you will be able to enjoy even and understand as a first time MGS player.
Now you have to listen to The Best Is Yet To Come. That is from the first Metal Gear Solid game. It is totally old school in the best way possible.
While you're at it, the Main Theme from MGS 1 is great too.
The Main Theme for MGS2 Sons Of Liberty is an updated version of the same track.
Finally, the MGS3 Main Theme is the final and most updated version of this same track. All three tracks sound very similar, but they are all distinctly different and fit the vibe of the game they are connected to perfectly. None of them have vocals. They are pure action.
The next MGS song that is an absolute must listen is Love Deterrence from MGS Peace Walker. I would recommend you find the full animated music video for the song for the best listening experience.

The final song I am going to recommend is called "Two Han Princess Oishii Two han Seikatsu". That one is not technically played during the game per se. However, it is very important to many MGS4 Guns Of The Patriots players. I remember putting it on the in game iPod and running around fighting battles along side the militia in the Middle East and the rebels in South America. I would also play it during boss battles on higher difficulties cause it was good for recovering Old Snakes Psych Gauge. Plus is just a total banger!

Metal Gear 3 does take place in 1964 so your on the noes of James Bond style and feel cause thats what they were going for.
So what you have to remember here is that this is Metal Gear Solid, the main series, Rising is a spin off with a very different feel to MGS, Snake eater is supposed to have the cold war spy thriller feel to it which this song really does invoke in spades, it really is amazing. MSG 1 and 2's main themes are stunning as well but sadly they had to drop it cus of a rather questionable copyright dispute. 4's theme is also stunning and really does add to the feel of the story.
All in all MGS's themes are stunningly good, all of them.
Not to mention "The best is yet to come", that song is so beautiful.
This brings me back to being a young teen on my PS2 completely immersed playing this game for hours on end. Good times.
