Not only is your brickwork top notch but the way you put these videos together is something else!! Especially after a hard days graft. Hats off to you mate keep up the good work!!
Hi stu, great peace of advice you wrote up, life can be difficult at times, but there is great advice out there, once you surround yourself in good people it helps a lot, I am a bricklayer over 20 years here in Ireland, and know A lot of bricklayers, currently working in Dublin for sisk building apartment's all brickwork, I must say your brickwork is excellent, and you're apprentice if he takes your advice, keep himself on the straight and narrow, he will have a brilliant future a head of him. Keep up the good work. 👍
I stumbled across your channel by a coincidence... I just want to say your bricklaying looks more like an art than a trade job. Really neat and precise. Well done to you and your team! Just a quick question, is this the best type of insulation to apply for the walls, or that one which is more like pressed foam better option? All videos I have seen from you use this wool like one. Thanks
As Richard says, depends on the ty[e of brick and the weather. Typically though not less than half an hour later if the bricks are taking the moisture, and although I never used to time it, not more than maybe an hour and a half if memory serves. As I say I never really used to time it. What I did was to try say, one perp joint or something if it looked dry enough, and if it wasn't and it would be a bit messy so leave it half an hour or an hour more and try another one. There was one time years and years ago when I built a gable end on my own garage and it was a really wet November day , and the cement remained so wet that I wasn't able to point it for 2 days!!! That's really extreme though! The work was fine though, mortar went perfectly hard alright as it was brand new. It was a seriously cold and foggy week that was.
Hi stu looking to. Buy 1st set of profiles for a garage build. Which do you recommend Blake's, Ali box section or Marshall's, your never able to buy anything from bt engineering as they always sold out that's why mentioned Marshall's with the stay bars. Any advice
Stu. This might come in handy mate. Where you put in the temporary brick for the window sill, stick a 10mm pice of installation on top of the muck. It makes taking out the temporary brick alot easier, no need for a hammer, just a little wiggle and it pops out.
Stu I cant get my mud to stick to my bricks like you do I use hydrated lime and sand should I use mortar sand washed sand?I'm getting frustrated?I do 4 to 1?
4:1 but you must add plasticizer to make the mortar workable, add bits of water at a time because once you out to much water in you will have to wait befoe it drys
I am putting a drive in my garden I need to build walls front and round the drive how do I build my corners so Square can't afford to pay somebody to got to do it my self
Look up the 3 4 5 rule on UA-cam this is one way of getting perfect right angles or buy the large folding square from eBay, think they are about £15 or £20. 👍
@@Mark... quite right Mark - the 3:4:5 method is a geometric wonder for a bricklayer sometimes. It always amazes me when I (quite often) come across other builders who aren’t aware of it !!
There SHOULD be a LARGE air-space GAP in-between the face of the cavity-wall insulation BATTs and the OUTER WALL inside the cavity ; this ALSO includes an air-space GAP in-between the face of the cavity-wall insulation batts and the cavity-wall-tie drip point-which should be in the centre of the cavity. Ask N.V.Q. City & Guilds BRICKWORK teachers for PROOF of this ! With the cavity-wall being bridged with insulation (insulation touching the outer walls inside the cavity), damp will travel from the outer wall through the bridging insulation to the inner wall !
A bricklaying apprentice would be very lucky to be trained by this guy. He is an artist with a trowel. Does tremendous work

Those that aren't bricklayers will struggle to appreciate how tidy you are. Class Stu 👍👍
Cheers mate
I was just looking for satisfying bricklaying videos before I go to sleep. This works perfect. Thank you for this!

He must be loaded
The speed and quality of that was incredible
Makes it such an art form. Great job 👍👍🍺
Great work...
how many bricks do you put in a day
I realized that this is the UK on a brick texture. brick texture is sandy interspersed with small stones
Still beautiful seeing you working mate! 💪🏾💪🏾💪🏾
Cheers mate, hope you’re well.
На это можно смотреть вечно!))
How to check cut brick back mack sir
Very clever the way the sting holds the brick in place , how come the bricks don't fall off when you lift the wool for the next row
Хорошая работа. Вы чувствуете кирпич и раствор.
Nice clean job
Really nice bricking that
Missing ties at the window or is it just the camera angle?
Great Sirr👍
How long do you leave roughly till you go back and smooth out the mortar joints with the pointing tool?
It depends on every type of brick your laying and the weather
@@richardcruickshank4026 Ok..Obviously I'm not in the trade..Just wondered...thx.
HAVANTPAL press it with your finger when it’s soft with bit of resistance it’s ready

Very neat Stu
Do you cover cavity up so the insulation does not get wet ? And what happens when it does get wet, do you pull it out and change it🤔
No answer to this one 🤔
How do you mount the iron posts to the corner ?
perfect teamwork
Thanks bro❤😊
Neat job mate
Mc Crompton the water from the morter Wigan styly lol great job as usual tho stu
You really are a very good trowel, do any heritage work?
when do and when dont you butter both ends of the brick. i was told that buttering both ends will give abetterr bond
Does the insulation ever get damp from rain water absorbing through the bricks?
stu what size trowel you use 11inch philly is it? savage work nice and clean as usual

@@Stucrompton1 no problem mate. Great content as always.
yeah we usually use insulation or similar like expansion foam if its around, good tip.
@@mikegalway2023 cheers. It's handy for toothing walls also. Yeah, expansion foam will also do the trick mate.
Отличная работа.

Why does the mortar become more wet than it was out the mixer. Must be because the mortar absorbs the moisture in the brick.
Does your step nephew go to college or your learning him on site only?
Can you make alright money as an apprentice say , guess it depends on your ability right ??
