You know what I love about stu teaching someone. There's no shouting and raving, it's all nice calm and letting someone understand why you do this and letting them do it for themselves. Signs of a good teacher 👌
It's as it should be mate. There's a tiny fraction of the population that learn by fear. Most people just need as you mentioned...calm, clear and concise. Top notch 👌
You're a good teacher. Patient and realizing a beginners mistakes. Wish I had learned from someone like you rather than the dumb bullies I had to deal with.
Best video I've seen on how to learn. This is great, because it goes through the mistakes begginers will likely make and how to address them. Thanks mate!
This was REALLY helpful. Please include more novices because they enable you to provide feedback/advice that you might not have otherwise. This video is GOLD!!!
Extremely lucky to have someone like stu as a mentor, bosses these days just want a young lad for labour and don't want to spend the time teaching someone the trade. Time is money and in the end the time u put into someone will ultimately pay back in the end regardless, providing they aren't useless 😂 I'm looking forward to seeing how good jang gets over the next couple of years with a bit of experience and practice 👍
Most of them will leave you after they get the skills..and that time and money spent to teach them will not really pay off at the end. I know.. i used to do what this guy do here.. teach others to become better working for me.. and when they got better on doing the work.. 98% of them left.. and not because i wasn't paying them well.. they left and work on they're own..so... The real skilled workers .. steal the skills by working with skilled ones.. and they do not want to get lessions from others...and those are the ones that most of the time will stick with you at the end.
I have no idea why I'm watching this at 12:30am.... I have zero experience in brick laying, but one thing I noticed was just how calm and helpful Stu seems to be as a teacher. When you have a teacher like that,it makes you want to do well and prove yourself. Excellent stuff!!.
Yea this is my first video of Stu I’ve watched and I’m proud to say I’ll be back. He’s clear and understanding that he’s a student he’s new to this environment and I don’t have a shovel in hand nor a level or cement and I feel if I was to gather the appropriate tools I would be able to start laying brick. He’s a wonderful teacher. And keep up the brilliant work. Thank you
I love these videos. I barely even do standard DIY, so no idea why I watch, but Stu's pride in Jang on the little things like buttering the brick is just nice init.
Please carry on teaching this young student Stu from lesson 1 to becoming a professional brick layer people all over the world are also learning at the same time we are waiting for lesson 2 You are heading for one million subscribers I have learnt so much from you ,can't wait for you and KC to do a garage extension with your young student .
Bet Jang has not been sent to stores for skirting board ladder or sky hooks etc... Great teacher lots of patience we'll done Stu. Jang will make a good bricklayer because he's so willing to learn.
Thank you Stu for your time and skills teaching bricklaying. I am teaching a class of High School students about the Trades and I found your videos very helpful. Thank you. JLS
Nice Job Lad!! That muck was setting up on ya quick, did a great job even with that. Stick with Stu and you will do great in life. You don't realize it right now but your learning more things with this than how to lay brick. Keep it up!! Great instructor as well!!
Wow this guy is doing really well being a student and he has a great teacher too. I suppose it all takes time but in the long run, it's worth it in the end. Well done 😉
Hi stu nice video my friend I have sent you a message from time to time and you know I have been a bricklayer for about 40 years. lovely to see you passing on your skills mate .its really rewarding for us old bricklayers to give some one else a chance .May be try giving jang a 10inch trowel and not hit the level to much try tapping the middle to the back of the brick no bad habits.good luck stu in all you do mate.

Wanted to retrain in being a brickie... managed to find an older gang that SAID they'd get me on the trowel waited a year and become a master of only one thing... loading them out and making a mix 😂 I was gutted really because I was all excited for learning a new trade
Just did this with my 4 year old son in the backyard but we ran out of bricks after first course Self taught joined a commercial masonry company building cinder block schools as a labour then went on my own
Good video stu funny how we're all slightly different I was always taught at college cut forward to not smudge bricks and 20 odd yrs later still do which ever direction I'm coming from
