      If it makes you feel any better I’m barely learning my wiring myself, and i realized I didn’t have a board on my first either, I didn’t panic just continued with the wiring, come to find out I plugged my red24v to white/heat. And left out my 24v coming from transformer I stayed at the job for an extra hour till I realized what I did lol 😂 the board wasn’t the problem it was my brain 🧠 I kept looking at my fuse like “ I think that’s supposed to be wired 😂 and followed the White wire going to the motor and said ahhh shiii

    Thank you so much Craig, today I've just finished installing an electric heat kit for a ComfortMaker AH today. The problem I had was I couldn't find the exact electric heat kit for that AH so the installation was not simple as plug in the molex connectors together but I got to trace the wires and their functions cut it, wire nut them to make it works. I'm a veteran tech but still your video make I feel more confident to do it. Thanks again.

    My Trane Ac unit has this huge complicated board and an expensive multispeed blower motor. This multispeed blower is too expensive for my liking. They are not very reliable neither. I already bypassed the board and used a single speed fan and capacitor instead. Now I need to wire my heat, but the thermostat wire is only an old 18/2. I may have to move the thermostat to a more convenient location since it is nearly impossible to run a wire there. I want to put an 18/8 wire even if I don't use all the legs. I have been learning so much from your videos. I viewed them a few times. You are contributing a lot more to this world than you know. Thank you so much, sir.

    Very informative video, thank you. I have this setup, same motor too. The motor won't stop even when the thermostat is turned off (ECOBEE), so I am guessing the control board on the motor is messed up. is that right? The only way to shut it off is to cut power at the 240V breaker.

    • @officerkrupke4966
      @officerkrupke4966 2 роки тому

      Maybe adding a relay to kill the 240 volts coming in to the blower motor would work. Something similar to the one in the condenser unit that controls fan and compressor. 15 dollars vs hundreds. Just to be certain, buy a two pole one, so you break both lines of power, the same as throwing the breaker.

    Perfect I was looking for this type unit makes me understand the wiring on the carrier. I been working with heatpump alot more in my area... quick question 🤔 I been leaving W1 wire disconnected from from the air handler since there no connection for W1. I connect the W2 wire from thermostat and w2 from condenser unit to white wire on air handler. Well that's the way I was train.

    • @proanswers
      @proanswers 3 роки тому

      The W2 on a heat pump wiring setup is for secondary heat, so by not connecting w1 instead utilized W2 you utilized this circuit for the first stage heating you are taking out the heat strips for emergency heat or, furnace or hydronic secondary heat * if purchased feature/ some heat pumps client does NOT buy heat strips (rare). W1 left unhooked may be a problem if there IS heat strips present- to prevent blast of cold air during heating. IF there is a furnace and W2 is not connected properly or at all then that could be an issue. Some manufactures bundle W1/W2 , need read and interpret the wire schematic *i.e. relay used. Furnaces are being added more in the south i.e. texas due to Natural Gas availability and temps going below 40 degrees. Provide model # on unit your referring too in your comment. Being trained based solely on model is not a good trainer or education. Being trained on how to READ wire schematics would be the best practice FOR ALL models. If there are components mentioned above heat strips, furnance, etc and these circuit loads were not incorporated or left out of the circuit; then there will be issues.

    • @emilionunez4566
      @emilionunez4566 3 роки тому

      @@proanswers thank you for the feedback. I'm also learning about the heatpumps.. the schematic is the same as the video heatpump. Schematic only shows w2 but not w1. Yes the unit I been working have heatstrips. I just want make sure the way I was being trained is the correct way.. also on the thermostat ecobee I'll modify by turning on W1 if you understand what I'm trying to say because thermostat won't program with out stage 1 heat.

    • @proanswers
      @proanswers 3 роки тому

      @@emilionunez4566 Sounds like you have W2 conductor/wire installed at the thermostat (ecobee) under the W1 push tab which is correct since you dont have a W1. In 2004 I had a York heat pump system installed in my Virginia home. The rep offered me a variable speed air handler with delayed fan cut off a d a few seconds of delayed fan start. The rep informed me that this would add one seer in efficiency. The new Trane unit that replaced it in 2021 has a 1970s antiquated peace of junk for an air handler with no modern efficient features. CAN ANYONE EXPLAIN TO ME WHY A COMPANY WOULD MOVE AWAY FROM EFFICIENCY? I will give credit to the 15 seer heat pump that it is quieter.

    My Blower Motor cuts on and off continuously. The condenser is running. I jumpered the thermostat and the same thing occurred with the motor. Since there isn't anything in the control circuit, besides the resistor, it must be an issue with the motor.

    How to wire up the ac to this

  • @10acScottyP
    @10acScottyP 2 роки тому

    I have been looking for a year now for someone to go step by step, adding wire by wire in sequence WITHOUT the fan control board. For instance when the thermostat calls for heat this is what happens the white wire and the red wire inside the thermostat “touch” and that 24 volts goes to the blank. Or show step by step in sequence how the power goes through each device. Another way to say what I’m asking for is I guess a video where I can walk up to an air handler WITHOUT a control board and no wires at all connected and me be able to add each wire step by step correctly. I have the basic concept down but I’ve been in situations where due to others working on the unit and not exactly knowing what to do the whole air handler needs to be re wired….I’m looking for a video that shows me how to do that. Any ideas please let me know thanks

      Thats just damn near impossible for some one to do. Every unit and how it was set up is different. Colors change all the time. There are many videos about low voltage and high voltage wiring of ac , furnaces, and air handlers. But mostly I'd suggest watching videos on how to read schematics and wiring diagrams, cause most units give you a very specific layout on how to wire everything if you can read them.

    Why does common go to ground???? Don’t you need common to complete the 24vcircuit on your contactors?

    • @ralphgiampietro85
      @ralphgiampietro85 3 роки тому

      This explanation isn't really all the accurate but for simplicity you can come across a 24. Volt ungrounded control circuit that utilize what is called a "floating ground " which if you had a situation where you had a direct dead short would take out the component with the short as well as the transformer now with a grounded common given the same condition hopefully the fuse would blow on the transformer in other words the ungrounded way would let all the affected components just would sit there and burn up until the transformer gives out

      If there is no fuse in the air handler, check to see if the secondary side of the transformer has opened up. Check the resistance with a multimeter to make sure it is not 0L, thanks!

      Ac service tech , I pulled out the transformer and I checked the resistance, the secondary reads 1.6 ohms and the primary reads 12.1 ohms. So does this mean transformer is good? I checked the relays resistance also contact 1and 3 reads OL and the two opposite side contacts has resistance of 9.6 ohms.
