    My doctor recommended apple and peanut butter. I often have low blood sugar but if my sugar spikes too high I get a headache. I'm glad that this works for you.

    YES!!! Big fan of PB here, and apples. I used to eat it with dates, but have come to feel too much impact from them as theyre so sweet. PB though, might be one of my utmost top favorite foods, despite sometimes bad reputation. I always get organic, no added palm oil. Until recently when my foodprocessor broke i made my own for years. Raw peanuts with skins, bulk from Indian grocery, organic when possible, roasted in oven, then milled with salt and sesame oil 😋 I think just about every plant on the planet CAN potentially be beneficial, but humanity is currently dealing with a slough of complicating factors. Peanuts are the bomb, especially as sauce or butter.❤

    Does it have to be a granny smith apple? Would a red delicious apple spike your blood sugar?

    • @luisv007
      @luisv007 4 місяці тому

      Any apple is ok. What you can fit in a cupped hand is a serve. Deciduous fruits (apple, pears), citrus, berries and grapes all have a low GI. Tropical fruits have a higher GI … just remember the serve size. Two serves a day and spreading your food throughout the day is important

    Can you do one on Smoothies?

    • @luisv007
      @luisv007 4 місяці тому

      can cause blood sugar levels to spike if portions are too large. Typically, the process of making a smoothie, makes it more digestible, therefore the GI goes up. Smoothies made with berries tend to have a low GI. It again serve size is important. A smoothie would probably count as an extra food, adding extra calories (if not counted as a milk and fruit serves.

    Would you do watermelon or watermelon blended in a mixer? 🙏

    • @luisv007
      @luisv007 4 місяці тому

      Watermelon tend to have a low - medium GI. The amount eaten is important. You’re probably look at about a wedge. With regards to adding a mixer, the more processed a food is (blending, mashing, juicer), the GI goes up because you are making it more easier to digest it

    • @luisv007
      @luisv007 4 місяці тому

      I read your note and thought that you can have fruit in your diet. Typically, fruit that comes from deciduous tree (eg., apples, pears and stone fruits), citrus, berries and grapes have a low GI. Typically, bananas have a low GI but the more ripe they become the starch converts to sugar and the GI goes up (medium). Tropical fruits tend to have a moderate to high GI. Important, is the amount of fruit eaten. Typically 2 serves a day and spread throughout the day. A serve is what you can fit in you cupped hand (typically an apple, pear, a peach, 2 or 3 apricots - it depends how big they are). Fruit gives you vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and fibre, all important for good health. If you test your blood sugars (BGLs), test before the meal and two hours after. HbA1c gives you a guide on how well your BGLs are going over the last 3 months. If you want to learn more about the GI go to www.glycemicindex.com. Good health to you
