One of the most frequent questions we get is "what size race suit should I get." The only real way to know what size race suit you should get is to try it on and see how it feels when you're on your bike. Watch as Van shows you how your suit should look and feel when you receive it from us. Don't be afraid to take pictures or video of what you look like in the suit, so you can see for yourself how it looks. the only thing that keeps me from a nice suit is the 1000 plus bucks lol
D man oxford has a closing out sale, excellent prices on rp-1, rp-2, and rp-3 one piece suits, go to oxford-products dot com and check out the close out products page,
thx man. ill look
What do you want a suit for? Track riding or street riding? If it's for track riding, go ahead and buy one. It's worth the investment. If it's for street riding, reconsider if you really need one. Suits get very hot and aren't that comfortable to walk around in. Do you really need a race suit for street riding? Look at a separate vest and pants instead that can connect with a zipper.
jonasv19 I have ridden 1 peace suits and 2 peace suits that connect with a zipper on the street, during riding holidays in the summer and on track. I do not see any benefit in a 2 peace suit anymore. If you want the best protection get a perforated 1 peace suit. If its to cold and you want to ride anyways, you can always wear warmer underwear and/or a large hoody over the suit. Want more comfort, get kangaroo. Want even more comfort, get it tailored. If you are willing to sacrifice safety for comfort, get textile.
New versions of the suits from all the brands come out frequently and you can usually get a good discount on the "old" version. So look out for that if money plays a big role in your decision process. The improvements are often not substantial.
I ride a gsxr or my R1, I grew up with my dad and bikes always about.
The best advice he ever gave me was.
" A decent helmet and decent kit is very high for it all. You have one head and one body. You buy cheap shit or second hand and it fails you could be dead!!.
Always pay the most you can save, even more than your bike, your bike you can replace, your body and head you can't. The money these cost is nothing compared to your life and what you leave behind"
Best advise I have ever had. A friend died after buying a shit and cheap helmet. I'm still here.
Great demo and explanation. For whatever reason, I have never been able to get it off as easily/quickly as you did.
That suit is BADASS!! You look like a superhero!! 👍
Nice Carrie Anne Moss reference! Another excellent instructional video!
Damn fine walkthrough -- much appreciated!
Thank you. This video really goes above and beyond to show every aspect of evaluating and using a track suit.

I am only looking into buying my first 1pc (or 2pc connected with a zipper) and I honestly find this very helpful. You presented some issues I wasn't aware of, in the slightest. So thank you :)

I just came across this video, and I must pay you a compliment as you have done a stellar job of demsontrating the fit of a 1 piece. Being a track racer and owning 2 suits myself, (looking to get a new one) you show us everything we really need to watch out for, especially too small a suit. from year to year our bodies change in size so it doesnt hurt to have a couple of suits. I hope you do another video like this for say 2024, perhaps pointing out some new features of different brands, pros and cons. Thank You
Thank you for watching and for the kind words. We should do an updated video that covers some or airbag options for sure. - Van

I didn’t really pay attention about protection until I broke my leg following a small high side in November.
Don’t get we wrong though I always wear protective gear (at 56 I learned the hard way their use when I was younger 😂)As my dainese fancy suit didn’t prevent the damage I started to read a lot.
Your site gives so much practical and useful info I’m really grateful.
Being able to choose the right suit size seems really to be a basic but it’s the only videos I found 9:22 explaining clearly how to do it.
Thanks for all of this!

Thanks for sharing your knowledge and experience with a track suit. I just got my first one.
Happy to hear it was helpful and thank you for watching! - Van
Thank you for making the video
You answered my concern exactly. I went from a 2 piece to one piece. It was tight from the groin to shoulders trying to stand up straight. Feels good when sitting on the bike though. Thanks STG.

I just placed an order for all new gear through you guys (everything except helmet), thanks to this video. My way of saying, I appreciate you guys doing this for guys like me. Websites like Revzilla make it difficult to figure out your size, because you are sure if their sizing is in US or not… Your website had both types of sizing. Looking forward to my new RST suit and gear for my next track day at homestead!
Thank you for watching and for your business! Enjoy the track time and the new gear. - Van
Very nice video! Great info!
Very helpful as always, thanks.
@SportbikeTrackGear Thank you for the very simple & practical video of choosing the right size. Van thank you for all the videos you & your team is putting up, great help & feels home. You guys are awesome. I am from Kuwait, now my problem is that I would love to do a custom suit apparently after watching your video how am I suppose understand what would fit me right given the fact that I am fat guy. Appreciate your assistance on this matter. Thank you once again & keep up the great work STG team. Loads of love & respect from Kuwait.
Thank you for watching and all the kind words! If you are going to go with a custom suit you will need to get measured by a tailor and give those measurements to the suit maker. Most of the companies offering custom suits have a measurement sheet they can provide you with that they will use to build the suit for you. - Van
@@sportbiketrackgear perfect! thank you so much Bro Van you are awesome. I am really not an expert but with STG I understand & I am learning. Appreciate all the effort you & your team are putting forward to educate and guide ordinary people like me. Moreover I am so happy that most times you work on a Yamaha R1 & that is my bike. Going back to the question so STG is not into custom fit suit? also wish to know the inner wear you just had beneath the leathers does that come custom as well or how would i determine choosing the right size for me being a fat person.

Great video. Thanks. I think you just demonstrated that my 2-piece suit is too tight. I thought everyone feels like they were kicked in the nuts all the time. I've had the leathers for years, and they never felt even remotely broken in. Again, excellent demonstration.
You are welcome, thanks for watching! - Van
A good friend of mine who’s an avid biker told me to go more comfort that sport, id seen multiple UA-cam channels of guys shoehorning their way in to their leathers and they can barely move in them ! I’m usually a 40 but went to a 42 and what a difference it is. I don’t feel like I’m fighting the suit anymore ! I’m not a professional track racer so comfort all the way got me also makes bathroom breaks a hell of a lot easier too !!!
@@pug-man6861 agreed man, you also need to try on different brands for different sizes for instance in dainese im EU size 56 or 58 for comfort BUT in RST (a british brand) im an EU 60/62.
The one piece skin underneath is so important too iv found! makes life so much easier!
The "too big" suit is a beautiful suit.
I can't stand the star logos, but that is a beautiful suit.

Bought a 1pc suit today for the first time. Man it’s a relief seeing you say that shoulder to crotch can be tight because lord knows I feel like I’m being cut in half with this thing
That is normal and a very common complaint from first time suit customers. - Van
Just got myself a shiny new RPHA Helmet and a one piece is definitely next on the list. I'm 100% sure I'll have sizing issues because I am 6'3", 170lbs and I already have a really hard time finding an overall that's not too short shoulder to crotch. That said I like a tighter fit, which is one (of many, quality feel being the biggest) reason I've picked it over the Nexx XR2 for example which was pretty sloppy in XL.
I don't blame you at all for the tight fit, I am cold natured and when the weather gets the slightest bit cooler down here in south Tx like it is now I don't own a leather suit and would not wear one but I do put on my leather jacket and will soo need pants too, I would rather sweat a bit than feel coolish at all riding, I have a 2009 BMW 1200RT love it, people love looking at the bike, it's black and light grey, the black is really a dark grey very fine metal flake and it runs like a bat out of hell. Get a tight fitting suit if your headed for the track, you won't be sorry.
such a helpful video, thankyou

good to know about that inner suit...aero is life
The undersuit is a game changer. - Van
You made that look a little bit easy to get one hahahaha. I love u make your own language also “conversate “ hahahahah love it
That is a real enough word. - Van
Just bought the A-stars Missile. The sizing chart puts me at 52 in most measurements. Feels like once stretched and broken in, will fit perfect. Wife laughs cuz I've been wearing it around the house.
We recommend wearing it around the house before you take it out for a ride to make sure you are happy with the fit. The best way to determine whether it will work out or not is to have someone hold your bike and get on it while wearing the suit. - Van
How tall are you and what’s your weight? Not sure if I should get a 52 or 54. I’m 6’1 175lbs and the 52 was tight but felt right in the riding position. The 54 I had a really saggy butt area.
Thank u. Very informative

Wear riding liner to try new suit!!! I forgot abt it today and it took me a good 15 mins to get the suit on and off! And there is a moment that I thought I couldn’t never get it off unless I go out to ask for help lolll
Yes you should always wear an undersuit. - Van
4:50 thx for that I just picked up a Alpinestars Challenger V2 and had trouble closing that zipper on the legs.
You're welcome, happy to help! - Van
Hey Brian, Could you please tell me what size was apt for you, what size was too tight and what size was too loose. Share the size of the suits just to see and understand how small is small and how big is big. Thank you
What do you do if you are 5'7'', normally wear a 48 jacket, and 29" inseam pants? The one piece suit may fit the torso, but the pants would be way too long. (asking for a friend 😉😉
Every suit fits a little different. Please shoot the team and email on orders@sportbiketrackgear.com and they will get you sorted out. - Van
Good video Brian. Very well explained.
What kind of suit would you recommend for a non-track use and a non-sport position? A two pieces suit or textile?
Textile wears lighter and will protect the rider pretty well in a single crash. With leather is wears a little heavier as expected but has the potential to offer a higher level of protection and multiple crashes. In the end only the rider can choose the direction that makes the most sense for them. - Van
I need that cap! Nice!

This video is great!!!
I've been looking to get a 1-piece because I've been in enough crashes to now know that jeans just don't cut it. I haven't had road rash to the point of skin grafs, but enough little bits of impacts to know they're just no good enough at freeway speeds.
My problem, however, is I'm over weight for my height.
I'm 5'8" @ 225lbs. I've tried on a 1 piece, but I couldn't get it to zip. Some of that was from not wearing an undersuit to get it on. But the big part was my gut. And since the suit sizes don't have correlating measurements on the person to compare with, I don't know what the proper suit size should be. If I can even get into one that's "off the shelf" and not a custom fit.
Any ideas???
Good info, I was trying to decide between the size 48 or 50, now that I heard this, definitely the 50! The 48 might fit while just standing upright, but once on the bike would strangle the......
Mind sharing your height and weight?
My 2 piece suit size is eu48 and I can’t decide either 48 or 50 for the 1 piece suit.
@@hein0712what did you end up getting? I’m stuck between those 2 as well, I’m 5’7 with broad shoulders so it’s tough finding suits that I can zip up that aren’t so long on the inseam
@@chanoob4646 No haven’t given it a go. I am 5’8 and not wide chest. I think you can fit in 50 short.
Hey Van! Thanks for the video, I recently got a Dainese 1 piece suit in size 52, it is perfect in the chest, it’s a race fit, however in the butt area it is very saggy 😂 once I get in race position it’s good and tight. Just looks goofy when walking around 😅
Sounds like it fits perfect. If the suit looked amazing when you were walking around it would make getting into a tuck very difficult. Thanks for watching! - Van

Your videos are very informative, great work. I have a quick question. If I compare a 54 euro and 56 euro Dainese Laguna seca 4. Would the arm circumference be different ?
For sure the arm circumference would be a little larger. Not a massive amount but proportionate. - Van
Ah ha!!!!! Best tip ever with the zip first then pull lower pant leg up 😊
Happy is was helpful and thank you for watching! - Van
his removal of the suit that easily was some kind of voodoo magic
The undersuit is the secret. - Van
A good guide to fitting. Although when ordering online its hard to trust the size charts. Also id say the majority are priced out of these high line suits.

@@sportbiketrackgear just been on your website, really good choices of suits. I really like the Alpinestars motegi 2 piece although ill have to wait until i save enough thanks to a blown oil cooler
Van, I wish you told us the sizes in the video...
I just got my first suit today! Going to the track next weekend!!
I'm really a size 44 euro and I ended up getting a size 46 which is just the next size up..
My question is. Generally speaking: is 1 size up going to make a significant difference?
I would consider my suit (size 46, to be a comfortable fit vs. Race fit)
I suppose that takes me to another question. Is it okay to track a "comfortable fit" suit? Perhaps you wouldn't suggest it but surely there are many people that do it.
Thanks! I love what your doing within the sportbike market. Fantastic job!
You will be fine at the track with a suit that has a more comfortable fit. We did not call out the sizes in this video because many of the suits run a little different when compared to one another. - Van
Excellent thanks.

You are welcome and thank you for watching! - Van
Fantastic video thank you. Maybe do one for ladies suits next.
Sorry to say there is not enough sales in that category to justify the time and effort it would take to make that happen. - Van
Dope r6
i had a lot of suits over 20 years and i buy them like the one you discribed as too small . if it has no extreme narrow points it will be ok , just stand under the shower with it and wear and ride it dry and it will suit like a second skin
the worst is a too big suit , you have a moving suit around you when you go flat out
Youre the reason I'm going to the Isle of Man.
Tactical x Recon same duuude 😂 ready to do both in a row!
I don't care if it's track riding or street riding, I ALWAYS wear a full race suit when riding, from my experience anything can happen and after being in accidents that were not my fault the suit protected me from horrible road rash or even worse.
The more gear the better for sure. - Van
Now a tutorial to get OUT of the suit haha, sometimes it gives me terrible cramps in my feet and shoulders. When i have the choice (@home...) i peel it off lying on the couch of bed.
Nice video, looking into getting myself a 1 piece suit for next season. Pretty big investment, i am only 20 and these suits are slightly peppered in pricing, but i'v decided that i need the safety.
Will most types "standard size" back protectors fit inside a leather suit?
Also, as a very slim guy, but with pretty broad shoulders, do you think Dainese would be a good choice? I'v read that their fit is pretty "slim"
I would take a look at the RS Taichi suits, similar fit the the Dainese with better quality. How the suit fits you will determine which back protector will work best for you. Many of them are similar in size, lots of options. When you are ready to get a suit give us a call and we will work through all of the options with you and get you dialed in. - Brian Van
Nice video bro, how tall and heavy are you, and what size is your suit? :)
I am 5'11" 200 lbs and wear a 56 euro in most of the suits we offer. - Van
I have a nice textile icon jacket with armor, would like a suit but doesn't make sense for me never really wanting to achieve speeds higher than 60 in my commute to work. That and I'm truly thinking mostly about the akward situation to take that suit off at work. Will have to do leather jacket and leather pants at some point
While some riders will use a full suit on the street they are really intended for use on the race track. - Van
Actually funny I got this video on recommendation because while getting another suit is on hold until later in year (my current one is a replica and i lost faith in its crash integrity), i was just thinking about looking at suits. I do like race fit but two factors really stop me from using it; bad left shoulder and my right knee gets rubbed raw something horrible just after hour of wearing so I go for comfort fit (knee gets rubbed but not as bad) which works better for me. I am considering perhaps trying my luck with a kangaroo leather this time.
You need to be comfortable to ride well in the suit for sure. - Van
Amazing information.Donkey proof.Well done.wish you was in the U.K
rc frenzy Are you calling me a donkey?
Great vid. I am due a new suit. I have a larger 1pc so i could fit clothes under and water proofs to use all year. Biggest problem i had was off the bike so debaiting on a 2 piece how will it compair to a 1pc
2 Piece suits are a good option for street use, for track use I prefer the 1 piece. With a 2 piece you have a lot of extra material in the midsection of the suit where the pieces overlap that makes them feel bulky and can restrict motion a bit. Also feel the 1 piece is safer because it does not have that connection in the middle. - Van
Hello! What suit (brand) will fit me the best? I am 170 cm tall, I weigh about 80 kg. My legs rung shorter and my torso is longer. I have tested Spidi Supersport Wind Pro, but it's a bit long on the legs. Let me know! Thanks :)
You kind of showed it when you were putting on your boots. I'm wondering where should I expect the pant leg to end (talking about the cuff) when a suit/leather pants fit correctly? Especially when I am on the bike in a normal riding position. Thanks!
Every suit will be a little different and we are all shaped uniquely. As long as the boots overlap with the leg of the suit a reasonable amount you are good to go. What you want to avoid is having the leg too long extending over the ankle, this will make it bulky in the ankle area making it harder to shift etc... - Van
this is good even for those who just go for a walk in the city or travelings ? I was thinking about the r 1200 gs, and I just wanted a safe walking device. although everything I’m going to buy is going to be 5 of each. I will have to leave 1 more at my mother's house in Brazil
I would not suggest a one piece leather suit for that type of riding. - Van
Superb idea to show us the 3 fits and how that matters. For myself looking for my first race suit it really helped although i am still not sure what size to go for. 5’10” 82 kgs, do you think 48 or 50 would be better?
Appreciate your reply, thanks!
At 180lbs I would put you in a 54 Euro. - Van

Great Video! Some people say that I should go one size up from the size that I am based on the size guide from the site. I’m 5’7 150Lb, chest 95, waist 82, hips 95, arm 58. Base on the size chart I am Eu48. I did try fitting the Eu50 but the elbow protector easily moves around. Should I go 1 size up to Eu50?

For aggressive street riding, would you recommend getting a two piece? Or is the whole split in the middle too crucial?
Thanks, Love the video!
I have ridden in a two piece suit before because I thought it was a good idea, ended up hating it. There is a lot of extra bulk where the two pieces come together right at the waist. You do not have this with a one piece, IMO this makes the 1 piece much more comfortable to ride in. Also feel the 1 piece is a little safer not having the seam in the middle. You are welcome for the video and thank you for watching! - Brian Van
how do you know if you need one size larger or two sizes larger? For exemple on the gp pro witch was too small, did you take a two sizes up or one size up for the gp tech v2 witch is the right size?
Thanks for another great video, Van. I'm curious How far up and down did you go on the suits that didn't fit from your normal size suit?
Also, on your fitting suit, would you classify that as your race fit or your comfort fit?
The suit that was too small is a size 52 Euro, proper fit is a 56 Euro and the too big is a 58 Euro. I would rate the GP Tech V2 I have in the 56 Euro as a "Race Fit" for me. Just rode in it last weekend for the first time and it required very little break in with all the stretch panels it offers. - Brian Van

I ride with my birthday suit
the too small one looks about like every single revzilla race suit vid featuring hi-vis brian... "6' 195# wearing a size 52" 😂
I'm 5'10" 145 and can barely zip up an Astars size 50 with a regular back protector... with a forcefield sub4 a size 52 is a race fit.
That is because the tighter the suit fits the better it looks in the video and marketing. I am focused on how the suit performs on the bike so you can enjoy your ride. - Brian Van
Sportbike Track Gear your videos are awesome!
i have got exactly same though. when you put that fancy AS suit I think it is really too big, like one size. when you wear "too small" I got feeling like - its ok, it will brake after few hours - thats what sellers tell me, when I try Ixon Mirage 54 EU (now wearing 2pc AS 54EU). I was trying SPIDI 54... can't put in on by myself, 56 was way too big. I'm on market for new one, and have to buy something until 14 may... Ixon Pulsar 54 - no problem on and off, but I got feeling like there is no space when I was in full tuck position.... but sellers says.. it will brake, you will see ;)
what to do?
I'm like 190cm and 104kg. Waist around 103 and reducing ;P , chest around 118.
I’m 6’1 215lbs. Would an extra large be good for me? I know large is probably going to feel pretty tight

I have this exact suit in a EU50. (I am a woman) I want the Women's Alpine stars Stella Missile, but lost as to the sizing, if a 46 or 48 womens would be equivalent as nowhere to try here. Any suggestions please 46 or 48?
Any advices fortall and skinny riders? If the size is too small is not gonna be long enough if is long enough if gonna be to shaggy everywhere. 😅
It will be give an take to find a suit the fits you well off the rack. How much give and take really depends on just how tall and skinny you are. Also important to remember you can make up for short sleeves and legs with gloves and boots. - Van
How would I go about getting the size of a suit I need? Is there a chart I can follow? Do you think I can go to a dealer or motorcycle store and try them there like how most people do when they want to see which is their helmet size?
Each of the suits we offer has a size chart in the listing so you can start there. We have plenty of suits in stock here at the shop to try on if you are local. You can also email orders@sportbiketrackgear.com to work with one of the team to help you find the right size suit. - Brian Van
