Incredible to see Gregg Rolie. Love the Rolie Perry duets.
That's not Steve Perry.
It's Arnel Pineda and Gregg Rolie duets
Greg Rollie is the man! He is incredible!
OF A LIFETIME!!!!!
WE LOVE YOU GREG ROLIE!!!!!!
GREGG ROLIE DESERVES ALL THE RESPECT HE GETS!!!
AMEN to that!!!
WHERE'S STEVE PERRY ?
Gregg Rollie is as much a part of the Journey legacy as Steve Perry..
Jonathan Cain should not have any animosity towards Gregg Rollie.. he hand picked Cain as his successor.. John Waite called Open Arms rubbish!! Journey provided Cain with a talented vehicle to get his music heard!! Without Rollie, Perry and Schon he would be nothing!!
@@gregeaton6938 that’s just not close to being accurate.
AMAZING. WISH THEY WOULD TOUR THIS WAY .
I don't know what was more special, seeing Neil and Greg play old Journey songs or old Santana!!??? Both are historic and may never be seen again!!!!!! ❤❤❤❤
That looked of Gregg Rolie to Arnel Pineda seems he's amaze how he engages with the crowd and how awesome his voice is.
They knocked "Of A Lifetime" out of the park right there! This was always my favorite era of Journey. Infinity/Evolution/Departure and of course, Captured.
Gregg, welcome back; you have been missed. You are what has been missing. What an awesome show. Congrats on 50 years of badassery to all of you gentlemen.
Watching Neal and Gregg playing together always makes me smile. It’s awesome to see
Gregg and Neal are all smiles. It's great to see them together.
Feeling that way/Anytime are their best songs.IMO. Gregg Rolie is great on them!
Arnell never dissapoints
Because he’s the one saved the journey back
kudos to arnel... great voice
Yan ata ung nppblita na ipplit daw kay arnel na vocal un gusto ng asawa ni schon

Oh ano napailing nalang c Greg rollie KY Arnel super amazing TALAGA c Arnel Godbless you 💕💕💕
Love you, Arnel!!! ❤❤
While watching this, I realized that I actually had forgotten how great of a voice Gregg has, and also how much his voice reminded me of Steve Lukathor, and then it happened, Steve walked out for a song. I did see Journey in concert a few times, but not before Gregg left the band, and I missed this most recent tour, but even just sitting at my computer and watching this on a big screen, this has to be my favorite Journey concert moment. I have to wonder just how many of Journey's younger fans are aware that Gregg and Neal were actually members of Santana before starting Journey.
Journey was actually a good band before they went bubblegum in 78.
Probably not many, Deens band is totally awesome, Neil has always been great. Santana, those were the good old days
Absolutely love seeing GR up there. Magical
If only Perry would do such an appearance with Rolie sharing vocals. Oh well, I can dream.
We Love You Gregg Rolie!! God Bless You and Neal For Creating Journey 50 Years Ago! Some Of The Best Music Ever!! Thank You For Picking UP Neal So He Could Make It To Practice Every Day!! 😊
Thank you Arnel Pineda for introducing us to Journey and its music and making us proud. Without a singer like you, Journey would not have been able to keep going and continue playing in sold out concerts.
Gregg Rolie amazing his voice is amazing. He is exactly correct music brings out the best in people makes them happy put some in a different frame of mind I'm just so grateful that I was able to hear the music from Austin. Thank you Gregg Rolie. Oh I forgot to say one other thing Neal plays a whole lot better and more intense when you are there he knows where his home is and it's with you and him just absolutely the best.
My musical hero Rolie is back onstage with Journey. I am amazed and my gf has tears in her eyes.
If your girlfirend has that good of taste in music, you should marry her.
Heaven on earth. Greg, Neal, Jonathan, Arnel, Dean,…. absolutely killing it……gives me shivers hearing this…..class of 82.
You are SO RIGHT!!!
Class of '74 here; caught them 4x....including this line-up in the 70's.
Barf
Feeling That Way/Anytime has always been my favorite.
@@censorshipsucks9493 Their best!
We the fans want more of this!
Thank you for capturing this extraordinary moment on film. Hearing Rolie in the lineup, those early songs, was truly monumental.
Steve Lukather is the gold standard of guitar heroes. That was a jam for the ages.
Holy crap! Just to see them jam out Black Magic Woman with Lukather alone was worth price of admission. Unreal!
Absolutely! Lukather is a legend. Little do most folks know, he is playing on nearly every song they know and love!
@@braddsn 🥰👍🩷 Truth🩷
I saw Lukather jamming with Steve Morse and he had to ask Morse how he was doing certain things on his guitar. The real gold standard is Steve Morse and the one that say's it more often than anyone is John Petrucci.
@@markrobertdevison1227 There is a reason that Lukather has played on over 2,000 studio albums. I would bet money that nobody else can tout those kind of numbers. There is a reason.
Gregg Rolie is a class act giving honors to Steve Perry and everyone who has ever been in the band who has made journey so successful through the years. Kudos to you MR. Rolie
I wonder if the crowd knows how great of a musician Lukather is? The songs he wrote can fill a whole week of concerts! Rolle is awesome love his voice!
Arnell made it possible that Journey kept performing at the highest level for so long, uninterrupted. Arnell Pineda is a legend. Journey's longest standing frontman.
But not the most famous . Perry will still be that . I do like Arnell very very much .
absolutely right i am a filipino but since steve perry left the band can we jyst be happy guys that the journey still performing amazing with arnel pineda i mean arnel has giving his heart and soul when he is on stage u can see it he love what he is doing and many ppl are also love him hope ppl stop comparing arnel and steve deen and arnell let''s give respect love and support to arnel and the journey with out comparison
Uninterrupted? Augeri took over for Perry for 8 years. Why do people think it went right from Perry to Arnel? That’s what “uninterrupted” means.
@@PeachWNK meaning augerri didn’t even exist no one remembered him just my 2cents and that’s what I thought too! his presence dont have impact that is why maybe!
@SweetLove Oh, my gosh. You are so wrong. Look at any Journey fan page. Augeri is well loved. Arrival is beloved, as well. It’s a fantastic album. If you haven’t listened to it, that’s your loss. Steve was there from 1998-2006. He was the bridge. If it wasn’t for him, there would have been no Arnel. Didn’t exist. So derogatory.
This was a great video, thanks for posting. I was texting a new friend down way south. He never heard of JOURNEY. OMG!!!!!!
Nice great Collab Arnel and Greg rollie. Good job Arnel and Greg
Yes.. and it would be great if with steve perry too.. journey being united that’s a good sight to see
@@antonc2k3 Arnel wouldn't look at Gregg
@@paolovincent6800 Arnel doesn't lie very well.
@@paolovincent6800 Come on now, Pineda looked at Rolie plenty of times.
@@paolovincent6800 Ridiculous - he looked at him several times. Do you think he should stare at him through the whole song and ignore the audience??
OMG I just discovered this. How awesome is that! I love the Rolie/Perry era. I would give almost anything to see Journey perform a few bangers with Rolie just like they did here.
Probably the first time in 50 years where there were 3 keyboard players on stage for a Journey! 🎹🎹🎹🎹
Gregg was an original member of Santana (1966) on keyboards and the voice of all their early hits. Neil joined the band early 70's. They left to form Journey. Give Gregg his props. He was a founding member of 2 highly successful bands.
Yep, Gregg was the original vocalist on big Santana hits like Black Magic Woman and Evil Ways
*Neal, not Neil.
Amazing!!!
just loved Greg in original journey band -it was great, wild energetic composing-not commercial.and my fav journey.i played i in cover bands that played that stuff
As much as I loved Steve Perry's vocals for Journey, I MISSED Gregg Rolie SO MUCH when he left Journey!! The band was NEVER the same again without him...These songs played in Austin, are A JOY to hear Gregg taking his rightful place at the keys and mic! It was TOO LONG comin' and I HOPE he plays with Journey more often! Get rid of John Cain especially since he's rippin' off the band and BRING GREGG BACK!!😍🥰💗💗💗
Ohhh, Love me some Gregg Rolie 🙋🏽♀️💕
Arnel keeping the flame alive and living the dream for 15 years now! Congratulations Journey for reaching 50 years!
Yeah
arnel has it 😁
that guy kept the legacy going.
Great to see Rollie back on stage.
As for Arnel, never understood why Schon went that route.
Looks like they put Arnel's flame to the left of stage. What's up with that? And why 3 keyboard players?
Watched this this morning in hospital just having ng my knee replaced....made me forget about the pain!!🤪 Have seen Journey close to 30 times..... honestly can say they sound "better than ever"!! Can't wait to I get another chance...FAITHFULLY keeping this guy's in prayer!!🎸🎸
He is so soft-spoken he is such a gentleman very quiet just like he was when they initiated them into the Rock and roll Hall of Fame this was just perfect. I give kudos to Neal for orchestrating Gregg to come and perform. Thank you Neal
Love that guy. Always classy and still has his voice. BTW, what is up with Jonathan Cain? Leather suit...and too chubby for it. Elvis haircut and sideburns. He looks like a clown.
Neal had nothing to do with it. Rollie is founding member he and Steve can and WILL do whatever and whenever they want when it comes to Journey!
@@alfredooliva5175 I think Lavonne was saying that Neal orchestrated Greg coming to join in on that gig. So Yeah for that. But Greg quit Journey in 1980, other than publishing issues during his time in the band, he has no say whatsoever on happens in that band. When you quit, you relinquish your vote and you certainly can't come back or join in whenever you want. That is up to the active band members. Same goes for Steve. He has no say. If Steve wanted back in, the band would need to invite him. Even Arnel Pineda has a greater voice on the matter right now than Steve does. Of course Neal and Jonathan could override Arnel's vote in heartbeat if they wanted, and I am sure they would if they wanted. That's just how bands work.
He still sounds great!! Wow!!!!!! Always loved the dynamic with both singers. Much appreciated, sir!
I was on a Journey “Feeling That Way”kick four months ago. I knew the song forward and backward… seeing Journey perform “Feeling That Way” in this video and watching band go directly into “Anytime” was unbelievable. They sounded incredible. And the drummer singing was a huge surprise.
Dean Castronovo is a fine drummer AND vocalist to be sure.
G.R. is a legend. 75 years old and still tearing it up. Wow. Of course some of the vocal notes are a bit tough, but he's singing those O.G. Journey songs in the original key. Which is something very few if any of the "old timers', so to speak do nowadays.
And BTW G.R. was born in Seattle WA and grew up in Palo Alto CA and everyone knows that both Santana and Journey always considered San Francisco home base. I guess all that's missing at this show is Carlos lol
As singers get older 60+, it is usually difficult for them to hit the high notes (for sustained periods or at all) that they did in their younger years. Still got to appreciate the talent and skill regardless of the key.
@@drock9083 It was close to OG Santana and sounded like it. Tom Coster lives in Los Altos, Jorma Kakaunen from Santa Clara, Jerry Garcia Palo Alto but they all moved to the City once the band took off, then Marin County. Many still there.
@@drock9083 carlos turned into a diva somewhere in the 80's. in the 70's he actually played a whole show. later, he just walked out and played a few minutes and then disappeared over and over. and gregg was too much of a diva to go to his 50th HS reunion.
75 holy crap, he is awesome!
I was at this show. It was great. I’ve never been a big fan of Arnel, but his voice was great for this show. Was so excited to see Gregg Rolie. If I had known he would be there, I would have paid for better seats. 😊 Dean sounded amazing. I do think it was equipment failure, as he was loud and clear in the beginning. He sounds so much like Steve Perry!!! Would have been perfect night if Steve had been there also, even if to just walk out and speak to the fans. I knew it wouldn’t happen but was hoping.
I feel the same way. Did you notice how many NOT true fans leaving during his performance? I was disgusted....literally disgusted!

@@beckytabano2821 If was actually a compliment, indirectly. The casual fan missed out on a great piece of history!
Arnel is 55 years old, has been with the band for more years than Perry was and he can still sing Journey songs as he did when he debuted with the band. He has kept his voice healthy because he has no vices, does not do drugs, smoke or drink.
Now this sounds amazing, If they could all just get along and do this the whole tour this really is a freight train.
That’s right!
@Betty Wallace not when they take their dirty laundry and smear it in the faces of the fans. They should have zipped it up and focus on bringing the fans more value.
@Betty Wallace Not everything needs to be all over social media everyday. 90% of bands have inner issues, they just keep it inner band like they should.
They tuned down , he didn't even play the piano parts b leaguer
@@Dave_Wight_The_Rock_Oracle try sing the stuff you sang on the top part of your range when you were 25 at the age of 70. Tuning down is necessary and it doesn’t take anything away from the song.
...off-the-chain excellent! When Gregg and Neal get together, it takes the music to another level...Steve Lukather was an extra added /fantastic bonus...I think music critical mass was reached w/ Gregg, Neal, Luke and Deen on the same stage...hair was standing up on the back of my neck!!!
Discovered Journey in June 1978. Saw them open for the Stones in July 1978 at my first concert ever. This makes me so happy to see this. Geez.
Nice.
Amazing emotions I haven't felt in years
Wow! Better than I could have ever imagined. Great job everyone! Welcome back Greg! Now stick around! Deeno! Your talents are truly magical. Man how you made that old song come alive. You know how to make the crowd really feel it. Awesome!!!!!!
Of A Lifetime!!!...never thought I would see a 2023 version!!! What a dream show if only they could all get along
I bet many at that concert didn't realize they just witnessed Journey's Original lead singer.
Beautiful music. Thank you.
Happy pinoy to see Arnel still in the band since 2008 up to now ....
Killer solo by Lukather, Neal just shaking his head.
Can’t believe they played the early stuff before Steve perry joined. Greg’s band used to come to Santa Cruz every year for a free concert at the Beach boardwalk. I got to meet him between sets and asked him why they didn’t play any journey stuff, they played mostly Santana tunes, he told me the band didn’t know the tunes well enough. I still have all of the early albums from those days. Very underrated stuff. Hearing these tunes live is awesome! Wish I was there.
Or maybe he doesn't want to play those songs without Schon
@@DgeminisM he never mentioned Schon when I asked him that. Most people know the old Santana stuff as apposed to the old Journey tunes anyway.
@@mikegrizwold2522 i understand, it's just a teory, cheers!
What a treat for you all there in Austin , TX . and Lukather :) good to see most of the origanal lineup with all that is going on behind all this .
Love to have been there for this show. Special. Love Gregg Rolie.
Incredible..The Luke solo is amazing. Taking nothing away from Schon though..both brilliant. Seeing Rolie up there again is unreal. Wish I'd been there.
Twice inducted the Rock hall of fame. Legend!
So great to see Gregg Rolie performing Journey songs again. I’ve missed his contribution to the overall sound. And get a load of that singing drummer! Who would’ve thought?!
This brings me back to seeing them performing live in 1980!
That's Deen Castronovo. He can do all the songs that are too high for Arnel ('Mother Father', etc.). Also, speaking of singing drummers, Steve Perry actually is one too. Most people don't know he started out as a drummer and is quite a good one. Cheers!
@@omnipop4936 By definition, not a singing drummer if he wasn’t singing while drumming. (Or that we know he did them together.)
Fantastic concert.
So freaking happy I was there!!!!!!!
Marvelous job guys! Greg Rollie your still a Superstar and your voice is still dynomite!!! I would love to see you stay on in the band and make more beautiful songs!!
Rolie has defied time. What a voice. :-D
Why did he not take Perry's place as lead singer after he left the band?
@@MARISSAFEHERRADURA A quick search would've shown that Rolie was gone way before that. Reading is fundamental. :-D

Arnel was in this concert?
@MARI 1:05 SSAFEHERRADURA Yes Arnel was there ..Greg had special participation on this concert..50th anniversary Journey Tour Concerts ❤
He sounds great 👍
I got this Album and Frickin love it!!!!!
How underrated is drummer Deen Castronovo? Not only an amazing singer, but killing a Santana song while being the ONLY percussionist on stage.... kudos Deen!!!!!
I was thinking the same thing. Deen sings like Steve Perry and drums like two drummers at one time. Phenomenal!
Massively. Love arnel but some songs actually sound better with deen singing. Check out journey through time if you haven't already
Have you seen him play La Raza Del Sol? Fantastic.
@@christianjimbomb8204 Well, the bad reputation thing can be left in the past. He does have a great voice. He said in an interview that he wanted to be true to the songs and make fans happy. I’ve heard him sing when not on stage, and he still sounds great. (With his “own voice.”) I think it would be hard to be famous, and it isn’t for everyone for sure. As long as you’re happy, that’s all that matters.
If Arnel was hired to replace Steve, why didn't he sing the Steve parts here?
Two of the best guitarists in the world on stage together
Awesome! Glad Gregg came but, Deen is absolutely awesome his voice! 🥰
Deen Castronovo is awesome as is the entire set.
Wow! To hear Gregg sing Black Magic Woman again after all these years made me head straight to the old Santana video clips on You Tube
I saw these guys on the Infinity tour in 1979 when I was 10. I remember Greg Rollie specifically. “I’m sitting here with my arms a mile wide”
Bringing Dean and Greg back really takes you back to some of the best times ever to be alive! Real music from the soul will never be replaced by A.I reproduction. There is a magic there that can never be touched.
That would be Steve Smith and Greg
Neil Schon, I've always thought he was a very good guitar player but I have to say, the older he gets, the more he impresses me because his note for note precision is impeccable. This guy never misses a single note; not playing rhythm or in his solos. Incredible.
If you haven’t done so already, check out Neil’s solo work. I think you’ll be equally impressed.
you must have never listened to the first 3 Journey albums, go listen
@@905Alive I'm not sure what your point is. I did not say anything negative about his guitar playing. That being said, my point was NOT that he has gotten to be a better guitar player as he has gotten older, although that may be the case, I'm saying that as he gets up there in age, (he is 68 right now as I speak), he plays his old songs just as good as the day he wrote them. He plays everything note for freaking note. He's amazing. A lot of guitar players lose it. Look at Carlos Santana. He's lazy, he's sloppy, he's a hack...and a guy grew up worshiping. So sad to see. Now I grew up a moderate Journey fan, not hard core at all. But seeing Schon's chops now makes me think that maybe I should have been worshiping him instead of Santana.
It's called rhythm!!
@@BH530711 I am a fairly new all-out Neal Schon fan. In the last 6 months, I got 6 of his solo albums. All freakin' amazing. His music is therapeutic to me. He makes the guitar express so much emotion. He's a legend.
Liked how Neil and Lukather tossed a little "Third Stone From The Sun" in there.... 👏🏼
Gregs voice is still in top form so good to hear him brings you back to a simpler time thank you with all my heart for posting this your the 👌 best
DEEN CASTRONOVO is an unbelievable singer!! He's more impressive every time I hear him!!
So why didn't Neal use Deen as lead singer after Perry left?
@MARISSAFEHERRADURA Well it's well documented Deen had some issues, that eventually landed him in a bad place. Or maybe Deen didn't want to play drums and lead every song. Drummers who can sing, are a different breed
For the love of music and without the unnecessary drama smeared online, this comeback moment is one of the most epic ones.
However short lived this may be, it was great to see these guys perform even once together on stage.
Love seeing the EVH logo in the background on Neal's amps. Awesome jam with Lukather! We need to appreciate these guys while we have them here!
🥰👍Yes and AMEN❣️😇🙏❤️🔥
Looks to me like 3/4 of fans didn't even know the old stuff . Just there to hear open arms for one millionth time . I for one loved a lot of the first 3 albums. Oh well it was a long time ago. Great to see some civility among the band at least for one night.
wow, greg sounds great and you can see the joy again in neals eyes playing them good ole tunes, like they use to sound and he enjoys it well!!!!as all of us do!!!so great!!

Keep jamming Greg. You are the man
I just LOVE this, keep watching over and over.
Good stuff. All respect to Gregg! I am thankful Deen has helped keep this band going for 25 years. Having an awesome drummer like him with the vocal prowess he has is such a huge asset for Neal and the gang. Great stuff!
I thought it was the discovery of a new singer to replace Perry that kept the band going and introduced it to new fans not just in the US but also around the globe. Until Pineda arrived on the scene, I have not heard of Journey or its songs but now here in the Philippines Journey songs are the favorite of Karaoke singers.
While they were searching for a lead vocalist, Deen had to do all the shows singing lead for all the songs while playing the drums at the same time. That's why you still see him singing lead on a few tunes like "Mother, Father" to give Pineda a break during the show. Deen has the best voice in the band, but you have to have a lead man in a band like Journey to run around the stage and get the crowd going like Pineda does.@@MARISSAFEHERRADURA

Brings back memories of what I considered to be the best Journey... Schon, Perry, Valory, Smith, Rolie. Saw that lineup in 1983 I think. Still one of the best shows I've ever seen. Basically the show that's on the live Captured album.
