Here's how we feed our tortoises

In today's video I discuss how we feed our tortoises and discuss ways to get variety into your tortoise's diet. Feeding tortoises the right kind of foods is incredibly important. It's equally as important to know the different tortoise species' needs when feeding because some require more or less of different food items. For example, you don't want to feed fruits or proteins to Mediterranean (Testudo) species like the Greek tortoise, Hermann's tortoise, Marginated tortoise, or Russian tortoise. Same goes for the Sulcata and Leopard tortoise. But others like Redfoot tortoises or any of the Mountain tortoises can eat limited amounts of fruits and proteins. While I can't exactly mimic what these animals would find in the wild, I try my best to mimic the types of nutrients they would find and replicate that with the food items available to me living in the Northeast. In the video I focus primarily on Redfoots and Eastern Hermann's tortoises but this method can be replicated for almost all tortoise species.
