John Swinney spending time 'defending sleaze' as NHS waiting lists at record high

- Scotland’s First Minister has apologised to patients on NHS waiting lists after news the number has risen to more than 840,000.
Statistics from Public Health Scotland this week showed the number of people waiting for treatment or tests has increased, with Scottish Labour leader Anas Sarwar accusing the First Minister of caring more about defending former health secretary Michael Matheson than cutting waiting times.
Mr Matheson has been suspended from Holyrood over a near-£11,000 data roaming bill he racked up on a parliamentary iPad during a family holiday, but Mr Swinney has accused the standards committee which recommended the 27-day ban of being prejudiced.
During First Minister’s Questions on Thursday, Mr Sarwar said: “Rather than protecting Scots, John Swinney chose to put his party before the country.
“While John Swinney spent all of his time this week managing his party and defending sleaze, waiting lists in Scotland reached a record high.
“Now over 840,000 Scots are stuck on an NHS waiting list - more than one in 10 have been waiting more than a year.
“Why is John Swinney putting the SNP first, not Scotland?”

Well that's a stupid question. SIT DOWN!
I remember the days when you could phone the surgery in the morning and actually get through. I remember when you used to be able to get an appointment THAT same day. If you wanted one for, say, a few days time you could get that.
Now you have to phone at 8 o'clock with your phone on redial, redial, redial and if you are VERY lucky you will eventually get through to the receptionist. The receptionist will triage you so you have to tell a receptionist your personal problems and THEY will decide whether a doctor will call you later to discuss that personal problem with you themselves. So you wait...and wait...and wait...and if you're the doctor does actually phone you only to tell you there are now no more appointments for that day and they can see you the next day or the next day. If you work, and yes some of us actually have this thing called A Job you have to take yet another day off on top of the one you've taken to sit by the phone waiting for the doctor.
The NHS is a disgrace and I strongly believe now (and this is one thing I never thought I'd say) people should be allowed to stop paying NI payments into it and have that money to pay for private health care. People who cannot use this service should not have to pay for it.
