Can't believe the couple other videos I watched on this take out the entire bench seat and trim. Just to keep from tearing that a little bit.. thank you for the good, to the point, and perfectly in depth video, deserve more views on it
Thanks - perfect video. Did that as you have, it works. NOTE ON GLUE: The tube I received was slightly gummy on the top, which I didn’t realize was not how it should be. I began squeezing some onto the speaker, then it suddenly became liquid, and gushed out… eek. Cleaned it up reasonably well, but it was a little stressful. So if you read this, squeeze some glue onto scrap paper till it’s liquid, then start on the repair. Simply speakers! Great product.
Just did this same repair on my Mark Levinson Subwoofer & OMG! I am so happy with the results I went a little crazy with the glue because I wanted a tight seal. Man my shit is hitting now.
Kind of insane that a simple foam replacement would make such a huge difference. I'm in a similar situation with my LS430 where the bass is not present whatsoever so it looks like i'll have to try this trick out.
I got a 2004 ls 430 recently with I think a blown subwoffer. It seem to rattles when music is played and almost no bass. I am assuming I have to repair it the way you did it. I took off the cover and touched that inner rubber/foam circle, and it was falling apart. Please help.
What do you think about the LS 430s audio system quality? I like very base heavy music of the hip hop variety and am wondering if it would be satisfactory, I’m coming from a GS with a very similar speaker setup but just wanting a opinion on it
Was your subwoofer totally dead or was it making a tinny noise? How do you check to see if it’s getting power and does that power come from the amp or where does that wiring harness run to that goes into the clip you showed, sir
While I️ don’t agree with cutting the trim (however I️ do respect it and see why folks would choose this), I️ would still like to thank you for posting this video. Your gluing procedure was very helpful, and I’m glad I️ didn’t have to pay and arm and foot for a new or used sub!
Nice repair of the speaker but I definitely don’t agree on cutting straight thru the parcel shelf to get to the sub. An extra 30 min of work and you could have done it just as well without cutting the shelf. Sure nobody can see it but that’s the equivalent of cutting thru the rear seat area to get to the fuel pump on other cars.
I fixed my LS 430 subwoofer with the same kit from SimplySpeakers few years ago. I took out the back seat & door trim. It took a little more times, but everything is still cosmetically in its original conditions. I did think about cutting it like you did, but ended up taken the longer route. I am glad that I did with the longer route. Great video. 👍
What is the benefit of doing it the hard way? Pride? As I see it, the only person that's ever going to see the "hack cuts" is the next owner or a shop and that's only if the sub ever has problems in the future. The speaker cover totally hides the cuts. I personally would be more worried about disassembling the interior and accidentally scratching something with a tool, breaking a clip or knicking the leather. Don't get me wrong, I've torn lots of interiors apart on Fords, Jeeps and lesser Toyotas to do audio work. But my LS430 is immaculate inside... the less its disturbed, the better IMO.
@@Maybe1Someday it doesn’t rattle anymore now that the foam is new but doesn’t get as powerful bass as yours sounds. In the front seat the most sound seems like from the door speakers. I cut out the top to take out the sub so it’s possible i cut out too much? Idk how crazy a difference it would be.
@@Maybe1Someday haha yeah it’s all the way up first thing I changed when I got the car 😂 does make a decent difference from it off to all the way up but once I get used to it, like getting in the car after work it just feels not enough bass unless I really turn volume wayy high
@@AHarmlessPear I will admit I like the sound of the system. It does give good bass. Its not 2 12in subs though. I dont like overpowering bass anymore, I usually only have it 3 clicks up
@@Maybe1Someday I don't know yet. What I do know, is that I ordered the FS6-BT for my 2001 LS430 Ultra with Mark Levinson and the foam wasn't even as big as the cone of the sub. I guess I'll just order the whole Mark Levinson kit to get the right one.
RIP to Sam, he was a great cat. Im thankful for the time I had with him and the pictures and videos I have to remember him by.

Great job!! Thanks to you and Simply Speakers. I'll be ordering a kit as well!!

Great video! Thanks for the plug. Very cool. 😄
Thanks for the kit
Simply Speakers Ordered. Thanks bro.
Just done mine a couple weeks ago with the repair kit. I didn’t remove the seats either
Nice car good luck with speakers

When it works right it’s undefeated
Part number should be
FSK-LS430
Make sure you buy the right kit

I would have simply removed the back seat as supposed to cutting the deck the way you cut it
You should make a video fixing the little drawer that goes in and out next to the transmission button
Thanks for this video bud great work!
How hard is it to change the front dash tweeters?
Never done it but the dash needs pulled as far as I know

If a tree falls in a forest and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound?

Just curious why foil tape ?
Strongest tape I had
What size was this foam rubber? 10 inch or 8inch?
Go on simply speakers website and look up “fsk-LS430” pretty sure its a little less the 8”

Do you get any rattles? not from the sub itself, but the rear deck or something else back there. If I hit certain frequency’s it rattles pretty bad
Sub never rattles. Tweeters make some noise on some songs
@@Maybe1Someday if I change sub woofer in ls430 bioneer sub woofer it's good or bad choice?
Stock is best
How many ohms is the factory speaker? I want o replace all together with a better quality one.
Do you have the parts numbers?
Try FSK-LS430 (full kit), also FS-6bt may be the sub itself.
Does it still sound good? Report now and in year please.
Still sounds good, you need to come back in a year and ask again

They sell kits for almost every car
FS-6BT is definitely NOT the kit for the sub.
What is it then?

This is the part number for just the sub foam.
@@UZForLife that’s for the 8in though the rear sub is 10 right
