Excellent video, thanks. Useful information gained with locations. I love the Levinson stuff on my 05 model. Even the old cassettes I have sound better than anything I drove in the early days. It is nice to revisit all the music of my youth. Also an early Fluke 7-300 meter will quickly diagnose all there problems whether voltage loss, resistance and continuity. Hope everything goes well now.
For 95% of Lexus owners the screen saying "AUDIO OFF" means the Mark Levinson AMPLIFIER IS THE PROBLEM !! They suffer from dry solder joints, bad capacitors and blown MOSFETS ! If you're watching this and have the battery drain problem, just remove the under bonnet AMP fuse until you get it fixed....
Dont know if you will see this but here I go. 1. Ive seen part 1 before this and completed the same steps, take out ML amp and clean it. 2. The way you edited THIS video was confusing. So Im assuming the electric grease dye did nothing OR you used it as a preventative measure. My conclusion is the battery was the culprit the whole time, including the time period in which part 1 was filmed. 3. Im assuming your amp never worked or it worked very little/poorly. 4. Assuming the battery was always the culprit, im going to clean my battery posts in hopes it will fix my issue as well. Mine only comes on for 1 sec and cuts off, during drives it will randomly come on for a second as well. My battery posts are dirty so I will update afterwards for anyone reading. Edit: Cleaning the battery seems to have done something, now there is cracklin coming out the speakers. No full sound yet
Keep seeing these Mark Levinson fixes and speaker fixes. Sort of regret forking out a big sum of money for a Focal audio system. I really think the Mark Levinson speakers are on par with these Focal ES speakers I have... supposedly near top of the line from the range. Although I think the tweeters are a bit better, more clarity/brightness.. but was it really worth the cost... not happy about it and don't like to think about it.
There are a set of air openings for the trunk very lose to the Nav box and the amp. If you drive though a deep puddles in pouring rain these vents an allow brake dust dirt mositure and water into the wheel well, that will cause metal corrosion problems on your eletronics terminals. Seal up the "vents" with duct tape or HVAC duct sealer and keep the car in the garage if you can in bad weather.
Triple A (AAA) batteries caused my check engine light to turn. I spent grand upon grand trying to fix the check engine but it turns out the battery was the problem. They might have good services but stay away from their batteries.
I get in, turn the key. Whole dashboard stays black. Nothing lights up, engine doesn’t start. I bought a new battery two months ago, but still having problem with car starting some days. 🤷♀️
That positive battery terminal is Toyota’s Achilles heel! Not sure why it is made of such crappy malleable material! Have replaced quite a few of these with heavy duty marine type terminals
Hey man, My 2001 ls430 has 2 Problems. 1. That the car cranks very long before starting...atleast 3 full seconds. 2. The audio system sometimes (especially when its cold outside) has some loud crackeling noises im the beginning and the audio options are greyed out so no sound at all. The Audio comes on only after driving it for like 10 minutes...but you habw to drive it hatd or rev it high for the audio system to start working. The battery has 12.57 volt when the car is turned of so this thould be okay. Any ideas what could help? Dont want to buy a new ultra expensive amp for now.

can i just get new speakers, sub, and amp ? or is it not compatible. i saw on the forums that you need a 16ohm subwoofer in the mark levinson. that is a crazy number

Capacitors on amps degrade overtime depending on what material was used. I’d discharge and replace all the caps.
Please explain how to release the two white plugs holding amp in place in addition to the two screws.
