Before this was even announced, I always thought 2 was gonna be the last of the series, and then second son comes in and says "hey, remember everything that you thought mattered in the first two games? Um yeah, none of it matters"
Dxpress they legit could've made it take place in an alternate timeline... the one BEFORE Kessler went back in time and started the events of Infamous 1
Ryan Howe exactly. I have to go off ok people saying this is the best in the franchise. Also I have to go off on the ones who just starry the series and because they grabbed this game first it’s the “best”
Or run with the conduit gene idea. Something like "Dr wolf's device didn't have the ability to wipe out the capacity for human genes to mutate and give rise to conduits" *SUPER SIMPLE STUFF* explains the reemergence of conduits, is simple and straight forward
The evil ending had way more potiential, i would've been extremely interested in whether Cole redeems himself on the good path, or keeps on the path of evil and be the Saviour of conduits and Destruction of Humanity. Both endings should be great and leave no room for a sequel.
I agree, suckerpunch should've done EXACTLY what they wanted, I didn't like the good karma ending because they basically killed the series in the second game
The fact the RFI was the first and only time it was used in human history does not mean a small few couldn't have resistance to it. What happens with natural selection is that species tend to mutate from the original in minor variations, if the individual survives they reproduce and pass along there mutations while their offspring also generates their own mutations. With conduits, they likely have a genetic structure that is inherently more unstable/ greater variability than the average person. Thus their would be a small fraction of individual conduits who may have some sort of genetic variable that made the RFI not click with them like a "normal" conduit.
Glad to see someone out there knows what they're talking about when correcting me. You're right and thank you for your comment. If only videos could be edited without bringing the whole thing down like they used to.
I was hoping somebody commented something like this. I didn’t want to go through the effort to type it out myself lol. You did a great job tho so thank you. Cheers!
wait... so does that mean that Delsin's father or mother were a potential candidate to becoming conduits after the RFI blast? If so then this definitely proves the Charles Darwin theory on evolution, if I'm correct?
Darwin has been proven time and time again. Much like the theory on gravity, a videogame is not needed to know it's real. Also, Delsin’s parents don't need to be Conduits for the Darwin theory to be correct, nor his grandparents or great grandparents. Darwin's evolution is based on environmental stimuli for a species' evolution as a whole, not an individual.
I like Second Son, it was the first game in the series that I played. However, after playing through the first 2 games, i can see how underwhelming it is.
Ryan Daniell Same thing with me. Second Son was the first game I played that got me into the series, and, while I see its faults, especially compared to the first two games, I still have some fun with this game.
Zivalene I think he means that Second Son, while lackluster, is at least successful at attracting noobs into the franchise so we can check out the other games and enjoy them more as well.
Me too, as far as I'm concerned, inFAMOUS 2 is the end and second son isn't remotely canon Unless we get inFAMOUS 3 (set after the beast ending of 2) after Ghost of Tsushima
I’ve actually never put much thought into this. For me, I just accepted the thought that since not all conduits had their powers activated, not all of them were killed by the RFI. But I see now that explanation doesn’t work, especially since I remember at the end of inFamous 2, with Zeke stating people all over the world were dying, he also mentioned how some of those people probably didn’t even know they were Conduits, implying they hadn’t activated their powers yet.
@@Zivalene I don't think it's as small compared to other games. It might be a launch title but that's not necessarily a bad thing. There's still plenty of great qualities about it. Since it was my first inFamous game, I went into it without any attachment or bias and thought it was a pretty solid game (not as good as 2, which I played afterward).
Michaeljason25 but after reggie's death, why he didnt change at all?..... he change a bit after his brother's death, he's type of guy who want to save his people, "the akomish", just like cole protecting the empires city, and why delsin personality like that?....of course he's still young, not adult enough, unlike cole who's old enough to be a good character
@@erenjeager1070 he's saying that Delsin has yet to grow as a character Cole had 2 games to flesh his character out Delsin only has Second Son also Delsin is still getting better as a hero he has a lot to learn he's not saying Delsin is a bad character he's trying to say that Delsin has yet to grow as a character like Cole did by Infamous 2 at least that's what I think he's getting at
Auxemplary it's not coming because what she or he idk there gender said they back themselves into a Conner and guess what they didn't care about infamous after infamous 2 you know why because they fucked it up and it doesn't take an infamous game to come out but we're is that
Im sorry but im not sure what you're saying in your running sentence. Are you suggesting she won't upload a part 2 of this video that she subtitled as "Part 1"?
One more thing that pisses me off about this game (there are more things that piss me off but I don't feel like writing a ton more) is the simple fact that we have no idea how anybody besides Augustine activated their powers, in any other super hero story I wouldn't mind but this is inFAMOUS, where how people get their powers is huge
Zivalene I will do that, and the whole tension activated powers is just a dumb idea, it works in something like XMen (I think... I'm not much of a comic book person so I really don't know, I just know Deadpool and I'm assuming that's consistent across the XMen stories) but in infamous, that's not something that fits with the way they've explained how to get powers, even Kuo fit better despite them not directly explaining it
My original assumption is that the RFI somehow mutated the conduits that survived so that they’re powers would activate without a ray sphere Don’t ask me how that works cuz people were paid to make a game about it
superdude 2411 my assumption is that Sony asked for the game to be made and Sucker Punch just did what they could and made up crap that they hoped would make a tiny bit of sense
Mickspad tbh Sucker Puch was definitely rushed when making this game, but that's to be expected when both companies didn't really have any good games ready when they first released the PS4 and Xbox One.
My biggest problem with Second Son actually was the gameplay. First of all, Smoke is not nearly as cool as Electricity. Also, electricity made more sense, since you're in a city meaning electricity is pretty much everywhere. The absorption points were also more easily recognizeable to the player, as we're aware of how it works in our daily lives -- lamppost = electricity, car = electricity, generator = electricity, anything with lights = electricity. Second Son with its smoke made it way harder to spot power outlets. And the different powers meant you had to absorb individual types of energy for each (unless I'm remembering that wrong), whereas Infamous 1 and 2 had one source regardless. And the different powers weren't even that distinct from oneanother. All of them had the same default attack, blast/bomb attack, with only maybe one distinct attack for each, like the sniper attack for Neon. The powers also weren't nearly as creative in Second Son. In Infamous 2 you could levitate cars (even while standing on them) and chuck them at helicopters, or just one poor, lonely militia. You could errupt giant icespikes beneath your feet to launch yourself into the air, combining them with the powerline surfing to make for some amazing traversal. And the enemies were so much more diverse, even in the first game, with giant street brawls breaking out between normal goons, big monsters, and attack choppers. Meanwhile in Second Son there's two enemy factions, and they're all human. And you can just run up a building by pressing a button with Neon, taking away the size of the gameworld.
CasualShinji the powers also made no sense smoke, neon, digital, paper, and concrete? Wtf at least fire, ice and electricity are actual elements! neon, digital, paper and concrete are all man made and makes no sense how they would even be a power to begin with. That annoyed me so much. Also not being able to switch through each at them on the fly made Delsin’s Powers to absorb any power become a bit obsolete considering since he has to be near paper, satellite, smoke, computer, tv and concrete to activate them. This game blows this as disappointing as Max Payne 3 was. Sometimes is just better to make two games and never do a third if the story felt complete with just those two games.
Abel Villa Shit, I forgot about paper. Yeah, that was goofy. Beyond it being man made, they just never made you feel like you were wielding a badass power.
I feel like they tried to go the way with powers that X-man does. Smoke may not be as cool as electricity, but it did make as much sense especially because it's something that has been there since forever and it's also way easier to get than electricity when you think about it. Neon technically is a element, but the other ones definitely didn't make sense. Also the whole idea of the powers were kinda messed up in the second game, especially when you choose to swap powers with Nix or Lucy, and you do get a little, but neither one of them got the power of electricity.
I agree completely. If they make a new Infamous game it should be Infamous 3 with Beast Cole. (In the beginning.) But as you progress through the game you can become good and find peace with humanity, or complete the beast's mission. I think this would also improve Second Son. By making it a spin off on the good ending, and not a continuation.
J.A Vance Dude, just watch "Infamous second son, 40 easter egg" at Playstation grenade channel, you will see, and hear augustine mention about cole and the beast, about the gene, and everything, this is the same universe after cole saga, watch at 8:40 minutes at that video and you will see the truth of the story and one more thing, your theory about this video, and the other 3 parts, is not perfect, you said, the story about "Second son" is completely wrong...well i'd like you to see about "Infamous second son 40 easter eggs" watch in minutes of 8:40 if im not wrong, augustine mention about cole and the beast
I haven't played this game since I beat it. I've literally replayed Infamous 1 more times than I can remember. I wish Sucker Punch made another Infamous that retcons Second Son. Start from the evil ending and go from there. I guess one good explanation for there being Conduits after the good ending is that maybe the Conduit gene still managed to pop within 7 years. I mean, it is an evolutionary gene present in humans. Maybe it popped up again quicker this time due to the evolutionary state of humanity? Idk. I'm no biologist, so I can't say how concrete this theory is.
Also, what does trophy data have to do with whether players will play a game? More people saw the good ending? Is that the excuse? UA-cam was around when Infamous came out, so it wouldn't have taken much effort to look up the evil ending in case someone didn't actually wanna play it. I hope Ghost of Tsushima is good.
What made me annoyed was how they dummed it down by so much; in the first game the squads of reapers or bag men there was at least 2 rocket launchers and you climbed slowly so that you couldn’t just escape from any fight you want to, also the ai were very smart in the first and second games but in second son the ai so stupid they won’t hide, they just wait for you!!!!
While I love this game, I gotta agree since conduits existing creates a giant plot hole that doesn't make sense no matter how you look at it. I also have to add that another reason I think the game's story was so weak is that it was so focused on being its own thing that it forgot to tie it in with the rest of the games. For example, in SS it takes place after the Beast tore his path halfway across the country, yet the only mention of him is in Augustine's backstory. Granted he was tearing shit apart in the east coast which is a fair distance away from Seattle, but nothing references all the damage that the Beast has caused. It also didn't make sense that "conduit racism" is still a thing since one of them gave their lives 7 years ago and took hundreds, if not thousands, with him. There was no mention of the Plague. You know, this disease that happened 7 years ago that caused people worldwide to drop like flies. This plague was even described as people dying the same day they showed symptoms, this isn't something you just not mention after 7 years. This coupled with the Infamous First Light, while a good game, it did retcon half of Fetch's story to the point that her story no longer makes logical sense.
Infamous 1 and 2: Long game, fun,VERY emotional at times, not necessarily the best graphics yet sustained a strong interest and finally the story is amazing! Infamous second son: Short game and literally the opposite from 1 and 2 however the gameplay is somewhat fun
David Luiz graphics for second son were good and the ps3 versions were a bit of a mix. Infamous 1 was very grey and depressing however the story kept me interested however infamous 2 had a lot better graphics and it was a lot more vibrant
It doesn’t matter which game or book or movie you’re doing, if you want a good story you need to have a “ why is this happening” sort of thing. Instead of doing just story where everyone is alive and that all the information we need, we could of have a game where you create your own protagonist and you start off back at the ending of Infamous 2 where cole activate the RFI, and mostly every conduit dies except you, and it’s your job to figure out how you didn’t die and find other surviving conduits.
So, I went into this video expecting to disagree, but honestly I don't. Don't get me wrong, inFAMOUS: Second Son was beautiful, but it was just that. Eye candy. While I do enjoy the story to an extent, the same magic that I experienced through the first games was never visible. Me, being the edgelord I am, always liked the evil playthroughs more. It really hurt to see that sucker-punch was going to make the game that made the most sense, but changed it for sales purposes and relatablity. Infamous has always been dear to my heart, so I have a soft spot for even this game, and I still do like it. But, with how far removed it is from the core of what inFAMOUS was, and the story it told, I wanna say it's as good as the next well written fanfiction. Lotta' those fanfics being arguably better than this to begin with. Hell, after reading through yours, I was inspired to start my own. I remember playing the first and second game for hours, and hours, enraptured by the settings, characters, and gameplay, to the point I've played each side, on each game easily 10 times each. Easily. I hope after SP's newest project, Ghost, they'll maybe throw us a bone and remaster the two games we love, using a polished engine and assets from Second Son. A girl can dream, right? It makes me happy to see that these games are still fresh in people's minds. Gives me hope.
Thank you for your extended comment Skye! I appreciate the time you took to share your opinion and respect for the series and my own work! I hope you will join me in my future videos and perhaps on my Discord server. :)
I actually had an idea where Sucker Punch actually teamed up with the unreal 4 engine and remastered Infamous 1 and 2 on the PlayStation 4 and seeing how Kingdom Hearts 3 looks unreal 4 engine I'm pretty sure that Infamous 1 and 2 would look beautiful on that engine.
Just rewatching this as something of a refresher. Its good to come back and see you are still working on inFamous content with part 4, just cruising through essentially, good content
One thing I really loved about the first and it continued into the second game of infamous and even the comic post blast and the one after the first game showed the government's reaction to the existence of conduits and threw the dead drops in the first game and even cole finding the briefcase in the second game we felt the weight of conduits and how they were changing the world for the worse why people like Cole change the world for the better along with the conspiracy stuff. Second Son throws all that out the window for a crappy X-Men plot. 1 twist that might have somewhat redeem Second Son is there being no good or evil karma and they're being a set ending when we find out Delsin is FBI agent and he was freeing conduits so the government can start rounding them up and using them as weapons or to kill them off kind of like the comic no hero. I almost thought that was going to be the ending just so they would throw us over our heads and give us an Infamous sort of feeling ending where we get fucked over but no they went to safe route. Nice vid girl subbed.
My personal theory for how inFAMOUS: Second Son could take place after the good ending of inFAMOUS 2 is that the RFI was still a reverse Ray Sphere, but in the sense that it drained Conduits instead of regular people. The catch is that it instead took the neuro-electricity from all the Conduits and put it into the user, which would be Cole. This energy was too much and thus it was excreted from him into a blast that spread across North America and turned a small amount of regular humans into Conduits. Or it could've just drained his too and then have reallocated it across the Earth covering field. I call this "the Ray Field Nebula" as it would've acted like a dying star. It started large to drain the Conduit's neuro-electricity, imploded, and then respread but smaller throughout North America, giving regular people powers. That's how Delsin wasn't caught as a Conduit earlier, he was given his powers when the RFI went off. This could explain why there aren't any organizations similar to the DUP in other parts of the world that we know of, they don't exist because they're only in North America, that's where the RFN took place. Delsin could've just gotten his power sponge ability as a combination of bio leech and the Conduit power. So the Ray Field Timeline would look like this. The initial Ray Sphere blasts in Empire City and potentially other areas in America spread those waves across said small sections, created the plague and thus the quarantines, the second Ray Sphere blast in Empire City turned John into Ray Field energy, which brewed during the inFAMOUS comics, then re-emerged as the Beast. Cole's failure to eliminate these waves culminated in Empire's destruction, and then led him to New Marais, the Beast following because Cole as the other largest source of Ray Fields attracted him there. The use of the RFI draining the Beast's Ray Field energy and redistributing it, the nature of his Conduit activation powers spreading across North America and creating new Conduits. While there's basically no evidence for this, it's an explanation I just came up with to justify it.
I played infamous second son, I played for both endings and honestly, the only possible way second son would make sense is if sucker punched made the evil ending of Infamous 2 canon, however it isnt, it just a game and they expect us to ignore the lore, the story and shit, I think the only other thing that makes a game good other than its gameplay and graphics, is a damn good story. And second son, doesnt have that
Delsin was 17 during inFAMOUS 2. He should be dead because he was alive during the RFI event. As for evolution, it happens over generations through mutations, random assortment and survival of the fittest. In the case of polar bears, possible albinism. Either way, you can have an intellectual conversation without resorting to insults.
Darth Caasi that doesn't mean that a person or multiple people could have been born with a conduit gene that makes them immuned to it, or their gene could have been strong enough to survive it unlike Cole or Beast.
I can see your point, it really doesn't make sense how there are still people with powers if infamous 2 canon killed them all. But still I still love this game, it's the first infamous game I completed from start to finish. I just thought different universe different canon. But that all shat on with the Cole's legacy DLC. But that's just me, I respect your opinion and I thank you for respecting mine.
that would make sense but there's one problem according to the infamous wiki infamous second son takes place 7 years after infamous 2 and Delsin is 24 so in infamous 2 Delsin was 17 so yeah, but even tho it makes no sense, I still love the game, it's just so fun to me. Plus I find Delsin Rowe much more relatable then Cole, I think it's because of my personality and I did the hero route because there was no reason for me to be evil other than some different powers. But I thank you for your contribution to this conversation and taking the time to read my comment. Really all suckerpunch had to say was "Infamous second son takes place 24+ years after infamous 2 and new conduits have been born."
Finally somebody that isn't deep throating Sucker Punch just because the game has an Infamous in the title. The Creator said that Infamous 2 evil ending was supposed to be the Canon ending but everybody pretty much went good that he had no choice but to do Second Son which is why it's such a shitshow and it feels like it takes place in a different world and needed a crappy download content to tell us that this is the world Cole was in. Even the download content Cole's Legacy takes a shit on the first two Infamous and everything Cole accomplishes. This game doesn't get the infamy that prototype 2 got but to me second son is the Prototype 2 of the infamous series.
I'm not sure either SuckerPunch forgot how to tell a competent story or Sony forced them to make the good karma ending canon and intentionally made this game poorly
Summary for how conduits survived RFI: Sucker Punch retconned the idea of them all dying after 2. There's no overly elegant explanation or context clues hidden in the story to explain it otherwise. They just wanted to make a sequel so they covered the retcon with poor and varied explanations. It's really just as simple as poor writing on their part.
I honestly lost alot of respect for Nate Fox because of this choice, even if ghost of tsushima ended up being a good game (and I'm sure it will) I don't think I'll ever have the same amount respect for him again
People ask me why I don't like Second Son, I tell them things exactly like these. Dunno if you remember me but this is the kinda content i love to see you do Ziv! Can't wait for part 2.
At first, based on the thumbnail, I thought this had to do with Delsin's 1st morality choice(either way stuck with concrete). Thanks for digging up and compiling this info with solid reasoning as to why the "story" didn't make sense.
Just came from InFamous Amino, and after seeing this video, you make a good fucking point... Second Son shouldn't have even happened in a logical sense. There aren't even any excuses for Conduits to still be around. Makes me wonder if Second Son is even a canon thing since the R.F.I literally made anyone with the conduit gene drop like flies. What the fuuuck, Sucker Punch...
or the genes are survived after the good ending, or the beast, i mean cole and kuo are defeated by normal human, or some conduits are fight against beast cole, and kuo because they want to change humanity with a wrong way, or augustine when she became conduit, and get her concrete power, she's making an army with normal human forces, but she gives them concrete power, the DUP's start to fight cole, with augustine became giant golem, and all her brutes forces and defeat cole after infamous 2 bad ending
Echoing others here, they really could have just explained this as a parallel reality or a what if story but they had to go the route of making this a continuation of the good ending, screwing up the otherwise very interesting story of inFamous with these questions completely unanswered outside of fan theories. On a different note, inFamous 2 is my favorite PS3 game of all time. I'm hoping for a remaster of the first two games before this console gen ends, next year it'll be 10 years since inFamous 1 came out so I think the time is right.
This video was in my suggestions a week or so ago. I ignored it because I thought it was a let's play. After the second video popped up in my suggestions feed tonight, with the title "Incomplete Characters" I had to do some digging. Turns out this is exactly the kind of series, and channel, that I've wanted without knowing for years.
Haven’t finished the video yet but god is it so nice to hear someone who respects and appreciates that some people like the game despite its glaring flaws. Beautiful work!
It's amazing how quickly something can die when you throw out the story that everyone was in on. When you have fans, they became fans because of what you'd done. So naturally when you throw that out and act like no one cares because they shouldn't, they all fall off the boat.
For the first reason as to why Conduits still exist after Infamous 2: The reason why soap doesn't kill 100% of bacteria is because there's a small chance that one bacteria has a mutation that allows it to survive. Even if a new type of soap is invented, it is never guaranteed that all bacteria will die from it. So having some Conduits alive after the RFI is plausible. Having said that, if this was the case, there is no way ~500 Conduits would still be alive. The chance of having a mutation that allows you to be immune to the RFI would be so small that having 500 still alive would be beyond a miracle. Maybe like 10 max would've survive (activated and inactivated Conduits), and that's being generous. This, to me, is where the first reason falls short. For the second reason, at the good ending of Infamous 2, Zeke said that the Conduits that didn't have their powers activated also died. "News said even some folks oversees were keeling over. Poor bastards must have been Conduits and didn't even know it." For the other 2 reasons I completely agree with you with the 4th one still being the most likely.
I actually thought the reason why conduits still existed was that when Zeke hit the RFI in inFamous 2 they said he broke the power regulator. He might have not fully repaired it so it could've been that some conduits were "too powerful" for it to completely kill them, or some other bullshit. I wish they went with the evil ending in 2, would've made sense, been fun, the story would be faaaar better as they already were planning on it and COLE MAC-FREAKIN-GRATH! Great vid Ziv
@@Zivalene Yeah. That excuse was practically laid out for them. Though, it probably would've helped if they didn't also make that idea implausible with the fact that Conduits halfway across the world were also dying to the RFI.
Personally, I actually love the game despite its... many... _many_ flaws. First I want to point out what I think makes the game enjoyable, and then I want to go over all the parts I agree with in this video, and some comments i've seen. As a person whose obsessed with superheros, super powers and the sci-fi science behind how superpowers work in people and the genetic factors, naturally i'm gonna love this game. You play as a badass delinquent superhuman with potentially unlimited powers. Smoke, neon, video, concrete. The one thing this game has a leg up on, may not be the choices you make in the storyline, but it's definitely got it when it comes to choice of play. The thing about the first two inFAMOUS games that made it great was the dark and gritty and often brutal fighting that came with the gameplay. There were tons of different enemy factions, who would often fight each other, and the game just made you feel like this totally overpowered superhero (or villain :) ), yet at the same time it was hard enough that still made you feel somewhat vulnerable. And the story line was nothing less than amazing. Every decision you made, every action that counted towards your karma, it mattered. Like, if you were evil the entire city felt darker and more dangerous, and in especially the first one, just made you _feel_ the amount of evil you are. and in the second one, it mattered so much that it *completely* changes the entire outcome of the story, to the point where it becomes a life and death choice, and not just for one a few individuals, the game made you choose whose lives were more important, those with powers and those without. Not to mention how much time you spend playing the game, and the sheer LENGTH of the games made you _really_ bond with the characters. So in the ending of the second game, it REALLY made you feel the weight of that final decision and either way it broke your fucking heart. Or at least I did, I cried like a bitch when Zeke and Cole faded into the sunset and the credits rolled. Even the fucking song choice as the credits rolled made it that much harder. Second Son did none of that. It's story line was flimsy, and the missions were pretty short with no depth. I think the reason they didn't include a new game plus mode is because I gaurentee that if I didn't have to spend an hour and a half shard hunting, I could straight up beat the game in probably 30 minutes. This was a major letdown. They promised the player a variety of powers and they somewhat did that. However they failed even still because the way they introduced the game made it seem like you were going to end up with 10 or 15 powers or something, but only ended up giving you 3 and a half. Yeah, I know what you're thinking but let's get real here, nobody here is really gonna consider concrete actually being a complete power. The characters were super cliche and their character developments will give you whiplash. Either you choose to save or corrupt them (And canonically there is absolutely no reason to go evil, like delsin seems like a good guy, why is he all of the sudden just gonna go "Fuck it, let's kill some civilians"?) and they will go into either role pretty quick. Like if it was seriously this easy to convince someone into becoming a serial killer I would have done it already. (I was trying to make a joke there, failed epicly. Now i look like a psychopath. Fantastic...) overall i was just majorly let down by the number of powers you got in the game, and it was just cruel to tease us with paper. Then theres the way they decided to introduce blast shards/cores in this game AND how Delsins powers work. They have no reason to be calling those tracker drones and boxes blast shards and blast cores, personally I wish they would have gone with a different term as it doesn't really make sense as it's not exactly a common term. Then theres this whole thing with not being able to switch powers or even have _as many_ to start with when you first absorb a new power, almost like he's getting weaker, which i just don't like... (Actually, I have a theory on why this is, ill post at the end i guess) I could go on all day pointing out individual flaws but we don't have time for that. But heres what "redeems" inFAMOUS Second Son imo: I liked the change of atmosphere. Everything was nice and bright and the graphics were amazing and overall it's just fun to run around in and look at everything. And the powers looked beautiful too. Then theres Delsin himself, who I actually liked as a character. He's sarcastic and actually is trying to enjoy being a conduit! He LOVES having powers, he's having FUN beating up bad guys and jumping across roof tops and soaring through the air! Unlike Cole who hated being a conduit because for him all it ever brought was pain and misery. However this time around we have Delsin, (Who I actually relate to a lot as a person, his personality kinda matches mine, which is one reason I think I love the game so much is because it feels like i'm playing as... well... myself.) a guy who just wants to have as much fun as he can because of the incredible things he can do. Yet at the same time, he's going out of his way to help save his entire village from dying, not only is he a good guy at heart, but he's someone who isn't all serious and just trying to enjoy life. Now as for the powers you get in the game go, I like them. Each power works and feels a little different from another, even if they all do seem pretty similar in function. Let me break it down: Smoke is for combat thats all up close and personal, the missles work well for when you see a nice huddles group and the smoke bomb works really well when you're making a bunch of dashes around the place and the subdues are really fast allowing you to get in and get out really fast. It may not be the best in traversal but this is definitely the power you're going to want to pick in an enclosed space or small area. Neon is for long range for obvious reasons. The missles are stronger neon blasts that shoot farther and more precise with a slightly bigger hit on impact. The traversal is good for running through a bunch of enemies or escaping the area and allow to really get the edge you need. Using the aim ability to take them out by hitting their weak points is what this power is about, which is what makes this ability so useful in more open areas with lots of buildings, especially if you use the stasis sphere to suspend them in the air. And not to forget that (assuming you're good) dashing will instantly refill your focus meter to slow time. Video is for really open areas kinda like the final Eugine mission where you fight the D.U.P in the park with that statue in the center. On one hand if you're good you can summon a single angle, or if your're bad you can summon 3 demons, which is good for open areas because they have more space to fly and less obstacles to block them from hitting their target. Meanwhile invisibility is nice because it allows you to either subdue upto 2 enemies before becoming visible or instantly kill one enemy before coming visible, and the missles were literally made for taking down helicopters with ease. Now there are more ways each power is used for different situations, but I like how each one is tailored for different situations. I saw a comment that said they thought the powers were just too similar with only minor differences but truth is they're a bit wrong. If you know what you're doing then you know there are just certain things you can do with one that you just can't with another. And this brings me to another thing! *SKILL!* You can be either really good at the game or really bad, and over time you can get really good with each ability and be able to know which one is best for what situation, you can get more skillful as you play, and you can get BETTER. And the powers is where the Karma choices really come to shine because depending on whether you choose to be good or evil will lock down some paths of the upgrade tree, which will further tailor to that fighting style. I know the first two infamous games do this, but I do think inFAMOUS Second Son handled this pretty well in it's own way. I like the way inFAMOUS 2 did it as well, maybe even a tinier bit better, but I think Second Son was still pretty good. Could have been worse. Honestly I don't remember too well how inFAMOUS 2 did it, but I recall a little bit. Overall I think the game had its ups and downs when it came to it's features and lore, and the story was honestly a major let down, but I think the combat and visuals and overall feel of the game are where it shine. Like I know the combat doesn't have the same feel as the first two, but I don't think it was meant to. I think they nailed the combat in the ways that they as the developers had _meant_ to, making you feel light, agile, fast, and really powerful because of it, in contrast to their first games where it made you feel godly powerful almost like a tank! Especially since power sources were literally everywhere. Okay I said I'd post my Theory on how the power absorbtion really works but it's really long and I can't find where I posted it, if i ever find it ill come back and edit this one.
Wow, really enjoyable and in depth video. There was something about Infamous Second Son that didn't feel as special first time playing like it did with Infamous 2 which has always been my favourite. Doesn't change the fact that I've played Second Son like 4 times cause it's so fun. Shame it had such bland and annoying characters unlike Infamous 2.
You know what would have been a cool concept? If Delsin *is* the new Beast. Like, the Beast isn't an individual, but a rare mutation in Conduits. It's not if the Beast wipes out humanity, it's just a matter of when. So Delsin would have to fight his very nature, and choose what he values most. Hell, the evil ending could have him basically become Magneto, and conquer the world for his people. Just a thought.
I have a theory on how the conduits survived the RFI my theory is that Zeke damaged the RFI when he slapped it out of Cole’s Head so it wasn’t as effective in killing all the conduit another theory is that Dr. Wolf didn’t know if the RFI would even work
I've seen people proposing this. They fixed it, the energy still killed people in other countries across the world, energy acts like waves and waves do not have internal inconsistencies. They only get weaker as the energy dissipates at the end of its frequency. Seeing as how it covered the perimeter of the planet, the only likely support to that theory would be that it had a light effect on China or in that general area. But people in America are alive, so you can't even go by that logic. And if it didn't reach China, then China no longer has an overpopulation issue if you get where I'm coming from.
Zivalene thank you for replying to my comment enjoy having conversations with people that have the same interests as me do you Think The infamous is Dead or do you think will get another infamous game eventually I also wouldn’t mind if they made a remastered edition of the first two games
Sucker Punch has never returned to a previous series once they've moved on to a new IP. inFAMOUS is dead. More than likely Bluepoint might port it to PS4 again.
"It's a Ray Field Inhibitor."- Cole McGrath The RFI wasn't completely guaranteed to do it's job. Wolfe was dead and only he knew how to fix it, and Zeke basically slammed that thing to the ground. Maybe the RFI suppressed the conduit gene, and those who didn't have their conduit gene activated resisted the inhibition. Hell, I'll even say that Cole's body has so much bio-electricity that his corpse emits enough to activate the conduit gene in those who had it dormant. Those people randomly dying maybe did have their conduit gene activated, given that the First Sons were a secret organization that have worked for centuries and we know so little of them. Sorry for the rambling.
Cole's electricity is just straight electricity, doesn't mean when he zaps someone that they suddenly become a Conduit. If that were true the plot point with the Beast would be totally uneccessary. And, the RFI killed people that didn't have their gene activated died as well. It targeted the gene as well as the Plague. If the RFI was made ineffective by Zeke it wouldn't have worked in the first place good enough to reach overseas, which they fixed so it could work at all. Waves don't have giant holes in them.
Zivalene Cole's power is electromagnetism, true. But then how does bio-leeching work? How does he absorb someone's bio-electricity and then become fully charged. Cole was powerful enough to beat The Beast, a conduit known to have immeasurable power, it's not a stretch to say that the RFI explosion could have just spread his bio-electricity. Sure, they fixed the RFI, but throughout the ending they're not sure that the RFI would work. Helping The Beast and damning humanity is guaranteed to save thousands of people, but sacrificing thousands to save millions was more of a bet.
You and I got into this series for the same exact reason. I really enjoyed the first one. The second was fun, and I liked it. Second Son seemed rushed, and overall it’s nothing spectacular. Anyone that hasn’t played second son isn’t missing anything. The neon powers were my favorite one though.
What I hate about the shotty lore is really The game isn’t like “Oh hey. You want the lore? Go and find all the notes and dead drops?” Second son was the first game I 100% (100% of all district on good. And beat story on evil) The most you get is basically the DUP insider say “Yeah Augustine is a cold bitch. Fetch and Eugene were abused by society and poor souls.” But from a fellow biology student. My idea is convergent evolution (Same evolution but different origin). Sure there may be a conduit gene in the first and second game, but notice how the powers are more different and a bit more abstract. Mainly Bertrand? Like what power is that? Hellspawn? Well second son takes more concrete and tangible ideas for their conduits. So my idea is. It’s a different mutation from the original gene. That may also explain their odd power awakening. They don’t have that need to absorb energy. Delsin powers just kind of, wake up. And so does Augustine’s too. It isn’t the same as the original game. So these conduits are different. Same thing as we might say, but this is the most sense I can make of it, I call it cannon in my head. makes me pissed tho that they could have had one simple character say this or something. I mean you could have a dead drop simply say “this isn’t the same gene as before. You’re a whole new breed of conduit. Coles rfi killed all of the conduits. But you guys ain’t like cole. You’re genome is different. But it’s producing the same effect. Same powers, same chaos, but different origins.” And it ALL could have worked out.
I'll be honest, I think this is the only bad game Sucker Punch has made. It retcons so much, Delsin is such a douche, Eugene is a stereotypical gamer in a video game (just... WHY), Reggie constantly has a stick up his ass, and Augustine is... Actually alright as a villain, not as good as Bertrand or Kessler, but I don't mind the story and personality they gave her, it seems kinda believable, and as for Fetch, I really like her and think she's honestly the best character in the game, and for gameplay reasons, this game gives you way too much in some areas but limits you in others to make the gameplay so cool at first but once you have the video powers, that's all you're ever going to want to use because they're so powerful and the game gets so boring, and I actually think First Light is the better game because it sticks to the classic way inFAMOUS handled progression with just being given a set of powers that expands as you go but takes away the main limiting factor from the games, the karma system, which was a welcomed removal. I just wanted to share some of my thoughts on this subject because while I don't hate the game, I won't be popping it in anytime soon, I got the Platinum trophy and then put the game back on my shelf where it will most likely never leave unless my brother wants to play it someday
Infamous second son was a good game imo, an easy 8.5/10. I honestly give them the same rating, as gameplay made up for it's shortcomings in story. I can see your points in this vid, and i'd say they're valid but i also feel like everyone is just butthurt that cole didn't get another game, i'm not too bothered by him being replaced by delsin, i do kinda wish they delved into delsins back story though. It would of helped dramatically, however i liked the chemistry between him and his brother.
They just had to make the timelapse much, MUCH bigger, say like, 20 years or more. THEN, they could've used the excuse of: after many years, a "new brand" of the conduit gene was created. Either from a similar triggering as the original gene, or from the RFI's radiation
As a Infamous fan, I find Second Son to be my favorite Infamous but, I1 was the best one in a narrative design. Sadly the problems with Second Son are all due to Sony having a year ripped off their hands to give it to 1886. Everything from the world, powers. script. story and development as a whole.
I feel like they should’ve set the game 20/30 years later. That would’ve given time to usher in a new generation of conduits born after the blast, and give a better explanation to this mess.
That'd actually be really cool. Shows the persistence of the conduit gene sort of like the X gene from marvel. It would also bring a new layer of fear to the normals when they realise conduits come in waves and it's impossible to stop the next evolution of humanity
I mean in InFamous 2 Zeke specifically says "Even some folks overseas were keelin over" he doesn't say everyone so the RFI just might not have had 100% lethality
It's Cole that says the RFI would "kill all Conduits, not just the Beast", and Zeke's expression of how people all over the world supported that claim.
@@Zivalene I'm specifically referencing the wording Zeke uses also there isn't a reasonable way Cole could know it would kill ALL conduits. It's just a theory A GAME THEORY lol
This is why Second Son has always been inferior to me personally compared to InF1 & 2. The moment I found out it existed, I was already calling bull because of InF's 2's ending as I'm sure many of us did. And while SS was fine with gameplay and having Troy Baker as the lead character, it was such a disappointment that they couldn't be bothered to give a real explanation to why Cole and many innocent conduits died for nothing.
Also, there are a couple other problems with these ideas for “Why Conduits are still around”… One that I can think up is that, Augustine had her powers activated by the Beast. It was shown in cutscenes that she was a soldier trying to fight the beast and when the beast did his ray sphere blast power it killed all of the soldiers on the battlefield except her since she had her powers activated. So the “Their conduit gene was not unlocked” discussion can’t work. Hell, I would’ve just accepted the excuse that “Some folks were in a lucky position when the blast went off”. Like, just say that “they were inside a concrete building when it happened” and that could’ve been a good enough excuse for me. I mean, 1 out of 16 of all people apparently had the conduit gene (that’s 128 Million) so I could imagine that a large portion of people were just “in a concrete structure when the blast occurred” to keep the gene around.
I’ve been a fan for this series for a long time. I’ve beaten infamous two multiple times on both endings and on my ps4 I’ve done every single trophy on infamous second son. I can agree with all of the points that you just made the answers that sucker punch gave us was a “sucker punch” to the fan who really cared about continuity. Not to say I don’t like the games I love them it’s just kinda disappointing.
just found this video, but you perfectly echo my thoughts on the game from when i first played it. though my problems dip into thinking it was dumb how the beast in 2 (either normal or evil cole) is NOT the one we were promised, the one kessler fought. but yeah, evil ending for this game is the one that could've worked. imagine if deslin had to go around fighting each one of cole's followers and gaining their powers. kinda like megaman. and of course ending would see cole realizing that even though his intentions of the "evil" infamous 2 ending were good, he'd taken things too far and become the very thing he meant to destroy.
I agree with most of what you said, but I generally base my opinion of a game almost entirely on my enjoyment of the gameplay, which was good but ad practically zero replay-ability Also, my head canon for why the RFI didn't kill all of them is that Zeke did permanent damage when he broke it and couldn't fix it completely.
I base my enjoyment of a game on story and gameplay because we're not in the 80's anymore and videogames have great potential to tell amazing stories. If there is a story, it is worth critiquing. If it doesn't, then the gameplay is the only thing to critique. Otherwise, you're ignoring half the game.
The thing about it though is why should you need to slog through a bad story to get to the Good gameplay? Why be forced to watch horrible cutscenes when the gameplay is good? You don't go to a restaurant and have an amazing waitress but then your food sucks and still say you had a good experience. A product has many elements to it, and gameplay isn't the only important factor anymore, especially when it comes to PlayStation exclusives like Uncharted, Last of Us and inFAMOUS. By your grading system, the game has a 50% and no more. It's still a failing grade.
Zivalene that makes sense, and I'm not trying to criticise your opinion, I just felt like sharing my own, story is still important to me, hell, God of War has become my game of the year almost entirely due to the story, but it's often second to gameplay by a decent amount.
Second son was my favorite. The setting and the story really spoke to me. I've played the other games and second son is genuinely easier to follow story wise. Yeah its at the cost of being skin deep and not much weight to it but it's still a really good story. I found the last games a little confusing tbh. I do like the gameplay of the earlier games better though, the combat is alot more interesting with them but I do like the powers of second son better or the way they look. I like delsin as a protagonist more than cole since delsin is a little more relatable and less serious and funny, to me he has more personality then cole. and personally I like that kind non serious thing, I loved his dynamic with his brother Reggie too. I can see where all the plot holes can erk a long time fan of the older games but not sure if the reasons discussed were really great to completely call it bad. From a personal view you can say it's the weakest of the games and maybe even a little bit objectively but in no means is it a bad game
There’s a few issues in this video. 1. Explaination 1: Immunity from a lethal disease does not conveniently happen because it is necessary, it happens through random mutations. If there is a huge population of conduits, then the probability that a few have the immunity naturally isn’t negligible. Natural selection is the process of those naturally lucky enough to have a higher chance to pass on their genes. 2. Explaination 4: The math is way off since she said 10% of all Conduits in the world survived but the government was clearly only rounding up the ones in the USA. So basically there were 1000 before the military in the USA, but we don’t exactly know how many there were in the world since it’s not an equal distribution to each country. 3. Wrap up portion: Infamous 2 also took the good ending from Infamous 1 and completely ignored the bad. It’s not an uncommon thing to do with multiple endings. 4. Wrap up portion: There is a storyboard, game design, engineering, voice acting, business, and other groups in most huge games such as Overwatch, GTA, Magic, and Infamous. The answers were different since they were from different people who worked on different components of the game. Go with the one from storyboard.
Tbh that would've been cool to have a game where you fight evil Cole. He goes to a town creates conduits but one of the conduits decide to fight back against Cole since he sacrifice many of the conduit's family n friends. You can even have the conduit go through a development where he hates himself at first for being the only survivor. So u can say he suffers from survivor guilt and improve along the way. But idk I suck at story telling Edit:damn I said conduit a lot.
Anyone who says "Oh it didn't effect them because they didn't know they had powers" or something to that agree didn't pay attention to Zeke at the end of the second game. He even mentioned "people who didn't even know they were conduits were dropping." So no that's not a good excuse stop supporting the milking of a great franchise. It's like Fallout 76 people act like I'm the villain for saying it's absolute shit.
Oh one more thing that pisses me off about this game is the fact that the dlc missions that explain the connections to infamous 2 were preorder bonuses and they are impossible to play now, I got to play them on my old roommate's PS4 but as soon as I got my own PS4 I planned on playing the game so my data would transfer to unlock the bonus stuff in first light and the missions were gone, and there is literally zero way to download them nowadays! YAY FOR BULLSHIT!
@@ryanhowe6543 the hell does that mean? Does it mean it's fact that it's trash? Because if so... you're opinion is not fact, there are good things about the game, I don't like it but it's not trash, it's just a mediocre game made by one of the best studios in the business that doesn't stack up to their other masterpieces
As someone who really enjoyed Second Son, I'd like to really show my appreciation for the respect you showed in your video by giving you my thanks. Also your video really makes me want to play the other Infamous games now. Nice video.
10,000 conduits would also have been enough that if they went with the bad ending they would have enough genetic diversity to start their own little civilization
Zivalene furthermore I had commented the following before I deleted the comment “ Finally! Someone who understands that infamous second son is a disappointment!”
Even though I have no problem with Infamous Second Son I kind of heard of this theory that the reason the conduits are still around is because some of the conduit mutation evolve to the point that prevented the RFI from killing them
I've recently been wondering these questions but for some reason always came up short even the wiki to this game gave up now I see why thanks I've been wondering what was going on behind the scenes of this game for awhile now thanks
My running theory was a sort of mix of two of those theories. Specifically the “some survived because they were lucky” one and the “they were artificially reintroduced to the gene pool” one. Except in my mind they were brought back by a smaller faction of the First Sons as opposed to the DUP (hence the title: Second Son). There was nothing really concrete there, it’s just what I kept telling myself to try and ignore the games flaws because I was one of those guys who really wanted to like where the series went next. And while I do like this game a lot, it’s hard as a critic to argue with the points you brought up here, and probably will bring up in part 2. Keep up the good work!
I practically agree with everything in this video when it comes to the story. This game has a shit story that really contradicts the the games canon. The existence of Conduits after the good ending, the fact that none of the events of the games before where never mentioned except for the beast, and don't get me started on how much lore this game recons. Another theory that people come up with is that this game takes place after the Bad ending in IF2 but that's horse shit because Cole, Kuo, or the Massive army of Conduits marching against normal people and new Conduits showing up is never mentioned. And the defenders for this theory say that the DUP took care of them, but that is also never mentioned in the game. I agree that the story really sucks and that this game's story should not exist what so ever. Great video and I look forward to the next part.
Zivalene i would like to say first that i agree mostly except that only 500 where caught thats not counting un awakened conduits in small citys with little to no dup occupation
In the thumbnail, it says Delsin should be dead. And that's incorrect because Delsin wasn't a conduit until after the events of Infamous 1 and 2. Fetch, Eugene and Hank spent their time in Curden Cay. Delsin got his powers from Hank when the truck was supposed to head to upstate Washington.
Wanna say first and foremost that I'm endlessly happy that I found this channel My boi Cole doesn't get the love he deserves (even if I'm adamant in my belief of keeping him in the Good Karma canon). And this basically highlights all of my problems with Second Son down to the premise. If Sucker Punch just wanted to make a new game with superheroes I would've been perfectly happy if they'd just been more adamant about the explanation for why it's all back in the inFAMOUS universe, but instead we get the flimsiest implementation of the plot of X-Men since freaking Dragon Age.
I agree. Infamous Second Son was definitely a letdown on character development, and fan service. I don’t care what ass-pull they would have to go through to bring Cole back, just as long as if I could see him again *alive.* Cole was And still is my favorite game character of all time, but like always, gaming companies care more about their pockets than their fans. Anyway, great video. I liked it a lot. Keep up the good work and stuff👍
What would have been an awesome game idea was continuing off the evil ending but still keeping the characters we had in second son. Cole being all powerful and evil woulda been op and awesome but provide little challenge, so imagine it 7 years later. Delsin and his tribe being secluded as they were hiding from the conduit menace while the world went up in smoke, cole and his army of conduits eventually finding them out and wiping it out, activating delsin in the process. Delsin swears revenge, maybe his brother lives because delsin shields him or something to keep the narrative? But is still infected with the plague so he has to get coles powers to try and absorb the radiation from reggie. Hank comes back around, a scavenger picking after coles army but not wanting to join, delsin gets his powers (kills him from anger of his home/lets him live seeing hes not the man he wants) and the game gos much how second son did, working your way up the food chain to get to cole. Maybe fetch or eugene are part of coles army? Or want revenge too and join delsin? Maybe kuo still has the change of heart she had in the good ending of 2 and joins delsin? Idk loose ideas. As far as your video i agree with most of it, the gameplay and graffics were pretty top notch in second son, story and side missions were crap. No variation or emotional build ups, even the side missions in the first two had their own little stories that were cool. I also wish there was more variation in powers, like theyre all same food just a different flavor with movent shooting and such. Atleast give more variation on how they branched off with the good and evil routes like in the rest of the series
Honestly i woulda been fine with second son had they gave it more depth. Given fetch and eugene more back story and development like we got from nix and kuo. I cared more about fetch and her brother in first light then anything delsin went up against. Reggies death hit a little and Delsin wiping out his tribe in the evil ending just pissed me off.
Also Zeke can come back, Trish can come back, we can see who Kessler's daughters were, we can see how Kessler got his powers, we can use variations of the electricity powers that we haven't seen before, we can see what job Kessler had, we can see who the beast was in his timeline, we can see how far he traveled back, we can see more of Kessler's relationship with Sasha and how they broke up, we can go back to empire city, we can have antagonists with glass and wire powers (they were planning on using glass and wires as powers in second son), since Kessler would be the main character, there would be no need for a morality system, I would like to see the gigawatt blades return, we can see how Kessler took over the fist sons, we can see what he was doing off screen in the first game, and lastly, I would personally like to replay the final battle from the first game, but from Kessler's perspective as the finale of this hypothetical infamous game. We can win the first quick time event (because Kessler did in the battle) and the game can make us loose the second quick time event (because Cole/the player won the second quick time event at the end of that fight). The possibilities are endless
I hope they make a continuation/reboot/entirely new game when they finish with "ghost of tsushima" this year, which has been postponed by 2 years since 2018. Fingers crossed they revisit inFamous
Second son is most likely following the evil ending because that was the one that was originally canon so there is that or because radiation takes a long time to go away and the ray spear activated and then the device activated had it where the both to mix causing conduits to still exist
im sorry i know im the minority here, but I NEVER liked infamous until Second Son. i rented the original and beat it then it became free so i got it in case kids wanted to play it. The first game's plot was stale imo. barely engaging or comprehensible until the last quarter of the game where i admit is probably the pinnacle of the original infamous saga. Cole is boring as a good guy, edgy as an evil doer and everybody around him felt plastic SAVE Zeke... Who betrayed Cole almost as if OUT OF NOWHERE. Then they become cool regardless of which side you pick which is unbelievable. infamous 2 was just sloppy imo the user generated missions arent that interesting. the auxiliary powers cole gets leave much to be desired. they tried to be creative so instead of using FIRE they use napalm...... not as good as an alternative as smoke. The choice at the the end of infamous 2 felt forced. As if there couldve been 4 choices instead of 2 but duality is the name of the game so you only get 2. the enemies are boring and dont look that great yada yada... in this comment im not trying to say youre bad for liking those games. i just dont understand your frustration with the continuity when infamous never was that solid with continuity or story in the first place. delsins choice of murder or let the smoke conduit go felt more real than cole's quick decision to murder the napalm conduit so quickly and brutally. also delsin pain in losing his brother is also a bit more jarring to me.maybe because i have a brother? Forgive my language but that asshole of a girl that left cole in his time of need dying just doesnt compare... im not looking to incite rage. this is just someone who did not like the other infamous games and loves second son.
I agree with you. I've only played the first game, had to sell my ps3 around the time the second game came out, and could never afford to buy another ps3 or a ps4. But I've watched people stream they're playthroughs, and honestly the entirety of the first 2 games seems really forced. First game: your future self travels back in time, screws up your life in the hopes that you'll be strong enough to kill the beast all because he failed.... That's just stupid. Second game: there's suddenly a plague.... AND people want to exterminate all conduits, all while the beast is turning more people into conduits.... it literally comes down to exterminate all conduits, who are immune to the plague and potentially immune to all diseases, OR turn everyone into conduits and save their lives in the process. Both of which someone would have a problem with. While in second son you're trying to save innocent lives from a corrupt government agent that happens to be a conduit, and thinks the only way to coexist with each other is to lock conduits up.... but it's perfectly fine if she turns her own troops into conduits.... with concrete powers.... that causes a lot of damage. And Delsin takes responsibility for the actions of Fetch and Eugene and influences how they use their powers. ALL Cole mainly did was fight a few street gangs with powers, some mutated monsters, and the beast. And failed horribly while fighting the beast... All in all Delsin seems like the better guy. He stepped up to protect people of his own free will while Cole's entire story was because his future self failed and felt the best thing to to would be to go back in time and screw up past Cole's life.
Richard the Zombie my thoughts exactly. Delsin with either route he chose to follow. Took a role model or therapeutic route to actually get into the lives of troubled conduits, in the pursuit of healing his people. Either ending on Second Son leaves a promising hope for a sequel. Free the rest of the conduits or free them to take their powers to push your own agenda. Also i feel like Delsin has a better built in personality/charisma than cole. Good or Bad
I’m glad that you are pointing out all of the problems with how SuckerPunch had handled the third inFAMOUS game. I felt that I was the only person who noticed the decline in quality. I would have loved to have seen a game based on the bad ending of the second game
I actually really liked the game. But I haven’t seen the video so I’ll comment again after the video is over. But we both played the game cause it was free 😂
Imma teach you a lesson. Infamous second son sucked and was horrible at that. The first two games actually had a great story and way greater play through. I bet you’re one of those”” infamous second son got me into the series. Infamous second son is horrible.
This game has little to nothing to do with the old inFMAOUS, from ignoring the mythology of inFAMOUS, ignoring the plague and RFI almost entirely, even with the DLC which really were treated like something to sweep under the rug,and finally which I completely agree with you with: this can't and shouldn't be remotely possible in the continuity of inFAMOUS, it may as well not be canon in any way, inFAMOUS 2 is the real end of the while series despite my issues with the RFI ending, it doesn't even feel like part of the same series, my conclusion: it can be ignored, we can all pretend this game never happened
First PS4 game I platinumed, and I kinda hate it. For the gameplay, why couldn't we have had power switching on the fly? They're pretty similar either way, and it would've made traversal a whole lot more fun, not to mention being forced into specific powers that you potentially didn't upgrade because you, as is the tagline, wanted to enjoy your powers. Furthermore, they kinda shat on the parkour system. I remember it being responsive and working in 1 and 2, and I certainly don't remember than in Second Son. I could barely climb up some buildings, sometimes I had to mash X, other times I had to hold it, and sometimes he'd just never climb up the thing I wanted him to climb up, plain and simple. Sure, it's kinda remedied with neon and, to an extent video, but ya still can't change your powers on the fly, and not every building has vents. Either that, or they're not very obvious. Which shouldn't be a thing if your game's designed around having them be a thing. But the story, now that's the real kicker. Never ya mind the lore breaking from other games, standalone it's pretty shit too. Delsin's horrified that he has Conduit powers when he gets them, but after that he's just "it's all programming deeeewd" whenever fear or hatred of Conduits is even implied. You shat your pants at being a Conduit, what the hell's your deal? Also, Augustine can practically concrete poison a whole community with zero reprecussions, yet she doesn't stick a shard in Delsin's feet or take him away to experiment on him, she just leaves him as-is. And for what, to test him or something? She experiments on Conduits and makes them hunt down other Conduits, without ever explaining to any of them why she's doing it. Speaking of, why does she even experiment on Conduits? It's a contrivance that makes her evil. She has zero reason to do it, and yet, she does, cuz we can't have a villain with a good point, no siree. It's not like she wants their powers for the DUP, she gives them their powers anyway. But back to Delsin, I don't remember a single point where he's confident of being a hero, and doing heroic things, but he fucking adores being evil. Even outside of moral choices, every time he's met with resistance towards Conduits, he just screeches instead of, I dunno, pointing to his heroic actions? Or admitting to being dangerous in with his evil actions? Now, his entire shtick in the evil route is blaming everything on society, but he's like that in neutral scenes too. Is he anything like his hero route self in neutral cutscenes? Not in the least. For context, I mean "neutral" cutscenes as in cutscenes that are the same regardless of karma. And let's not forget, Reggie occasionally gets on Delsin's ass for killing people, but if you're on hero, that never happens. I had a perfect hero streak when I played hero, but he's still talking about the people I've killed. Not to mention, he's proud of Infamous Delsin in the first Augustine fight. I could go on, but I think my point's been made. Also, the final missions are disappointing karma-wise, cuz it's basically just a few changed lines. Also also, am I the only one who wanted this to take place in Salmon Bay? If you look at the town, it looks so colorful, and fun, and creative, and it looks like it has nature as much as there's, well, non-nature. But no, we get forced into a boring city, cuz we didn't already have that in Infamous 1.
Nah, thank you for the video. Glad I could vent somewhere, really. Word of advice, though, the video kinda looked like a let's play at first, and not analysis. I think it's because you used a screenshot from the game, and not official art or something. Nothing too major, but it might turn some people away, I dunno.
I have a playlist for the let's play already that explicitly states that it's a walkthrough. This one is written as an essay or talking point video. And this video is already way more popular than I expected/wanted it to be, so guess I'm doing okay.
Zivalene No, I mean it looks like a let's play from the thumbnail. I'm not saying it looks like your other let's plays, I basically just found this channel, I'm talking from the perspective of someone who randomly saw this vid on the front page. I'm not telling you that you have to change anything, it's just some spicy opinions.
Delsin does get shards in his feet though. Augustine did experiments on the three conduits to make them stronger. Perhaps so she can plan an 'accidental escape' where the now stronger conduits can cause trouble and make conduits out to be the devil. This increases funding for her DUP nonsense.
i've been playing infamous ever since the hack as well, i loved it. i played the demo of the sequel nonstop until one of my brothers told me he had the second game. i had beaten both games. i've seen gameplay of second son, delsin shouldn't be alive. there's no the conduit gene hadn't been activated yet, you simply needed to have the gene to die (well that's how i think how it is.) water shouldn't even be dangerous, in infamous 1 and 2 water is dangerous because lightning, hell there was a flooded area in infamous 2, but the first fucking mission in second son water everywhere and if you fall in it you take damage. what the fuck sucker punch, you made 5 good games before this, what happened?
@@yourdad6122 yeah, when you are not on a mission, when you are on a mission and fall in the water-delsin die and the checkpoint restart like he died as well...
The evil ending of infamous 2 would’ve made an AMAZING GAME
I liked infamous second just because I love the infamous series and now knowing what I know it kinda makes me hate infamous second son
Boss fight with cole if you had good karma maybe?
Before this was even announced, I always thought 2 was gonna be the last of the series, and then second son comes in and says "hey, remember everything that you thought mattered in the first two games? Um yeah, none of it matters"
Too bad the director pussed out
Hell yeah
I would've been totally okay with their explanation being "We just wanted to reboot the franchise".
Dxpress they legit could've made it take place in an alternate timeline... the one BEFORE Kessler went back in time and started the events of Infamous 1
Dylan Jackson u mean before the beast attacked right?
That'd be hard to explain to the casual player as they progress. But it'd be dope honestly.
Dylan Jackson call it Infamous the First Son
so did you mean, this is a kessler world?, man thats a good theory
Infamous second son: *look at the particle affects*
infamous second son: sony paid us to show off their new console and controller features
Sadly, that's how most triple-A PS4 games are about.
I wanna look at them
Ryan Howe exactly. I have to go off ok people saying this is the best in the franchise. Also I have to go off on the ones who just starry the series and because they grabbed this game first it’s the “best”
Are you saying they are bad. I love the effects, much better than the first 2
They literally could've just been like hey different universe=Different Charecter
yeah,muiltyverse makes stuff make sense.
TrapShadow666 yeah, or they could have made a prequel
Or run with the conduit gene idea. Something like "Dr wolf's device didn't have the ability to wipe out the capacity for human genes to mutate and give rise to conduits"
*SUPER SIMPLE STUFF* explains the reemergence of conduits, is simple and straight forward
And Boris makes a better explanation than the creators
TrapShadow666 Why?
Does anyone else remember inFamous Festival of Blood?
Mask Nask weird, but fun 4 hour dlc
Alexander Becker
I wish they brought the UGC mission backs.
Danm i miss that dlc
It was BAD.
Yup playing right now
The evil ending had way more potiential, i would've been extremely interested in whether Cole redeems himself on the good path, or keeps on the path of evil and be the Saviour of conduits and Destruction of Humanity.
Both endings should be great and leave no room for a sequel.
I agree, suckerpunch should've done EXACTLY what they wanted, I didn't like the good karma ending because they basically killed the series in the second game
It would make absolutely no sense if the bad ending was canon and then Cole ended up being good in the next game.
Big Smoke but even IF Cole turned good after turning bad to the point of no return how would he cure humanity
Beast Cole doesn't need to redeem himself at all.
@@jerrodshack7610 but it could make sense I mean he could be the savior of conduits while being the demon to humanity lol .
Hm. I never considered that. While I personally don't believe the conduits should have survived,I can agree with this and Darwin.
Ryan Daniell well at least second son did something right.
Did it?
Zivalene I think he means that Second Son, while lackluster, is at least successful at attracting noobs into the franchise so we can check out the other games and enjoy them more as well.
Super Lombax yep that’s exactly what I meant
I'm happy that I'm not the only one that cares about infamous
Lol, same
here to fam
Same
Me too, as far as I'm concerned, inFAMOUS 2 is the end and second son isn't remotely canon
Unless we get inFAMOUS 3 (set after the beast ending of 2) after Ghost of Tsushima
The game was made to promote ps4, everyone knows it. Quality was not in their heads.
I thought it was of good quality
@@locococo8961 Oh, I think it was. In terms of graphics and scale, it's definitely of PS4 quality, especially on the pro.
For a PS4 game, it is exceptionally small. The fidelity is also not nearly as clean and pretty as other games. It is a launch title and it shows.
Finally somebody is talking about the shotty connections with the lore of the games
I think it went down like this:
Nate Fox: Ok guys, wer'e gonna do this instead
And nobody else wanted to make this game
Basically Delson's story is too lame compared to Cole's.
sawgy patatos with cheese its because delsin right now have one story, and he didnt have the sequels yet, i mean "Second son 2"
@@mfajriyanurian7515 so ur saying delsin is not a good character
@@erenjeager1070 he's saying that Delsin has yet to grow as a character Cole had 2 games to flesh his character out Delsin only has Second Son also Delsin is still getting better as a hero he has a lot to learn he's not saying Delsin is a bad character he's trying to say that Delsin has yet to grow as a character like Cole did by Infamous 2 at least that's what I think he's getting at
Interesting to see a well dissected take on the infamous series now. Can't wait for part 2
Auxemplary I'm say sucker punch is done with. Infamous
So then your comment was completely irrelevant to mine.
Auxemplary never said that but if that's what you think sure
One more thing that pisses me off about this game (there are more things that piss me off but I don't feel like writing a ton more) is the simple fact that we have no idea how anybody besides Augustine activated their powers, in any other super hero story I wouldn't mind but this is inFAMOUS, where how people get their powers is huge
Tension-activated powers.
Also, I would love to hear your thoughts. You should join the Discord server so we can talk. :)
Zivalene I will do that, and the whole tension activated powers is just a dumb idea, it works in something like XMen (I think... I'm not much of a comic book person so I really don't know, I just know Deadpool and I'm assuming that's consistent across the XMen stories) but in infamous, that's not something that fits with the way they've explained how to get powers, even Kuo fit better despite them not directly explaining it
My original assumption is that the RFI somehow mutated the conduits that survived so that they’re powers would activate without a ray sphere
Don’t ask me how that works cuz people were paid to make a game about it
superdude 2411 my assumption is that Sony asked for the game to be made and Sucker Punch just did what they could and made up crap that they hoped would make a tiny bit of sense
Thank you for your comment! I will keep this in mind for the gameplay portion of this series.
Paper wasn't a power you could get though.
James Vance I completely agree
James Vance Nope. Never going to happen. Second spn is canon, Cole's dead and staying dead no matter how much you ypu want him to be alive.
+Mario Badia I know, but we can hope that they do something to revive this franchise, because second son was meh.
J.A Vance Dude, just watch "Infamous second son, 40 easter egg" at Playstation grenade channel, you will see, and hear augustine mention about cole and the beast, about the gene, and everything, this is the same universe after cole saga, watch at 8:40 minutes at that video and you will see the truth of the story
and one more thing, your theory about this video, and the other 3 parts, is not perfect, you said, the story about "Second son" is completely wrong...well i'd like you to see about "Infamous second son 40 easter eggs" watch in minutes of 8:40 if im not wrong, augustine mention about cole and the beast
Making peace with the human race is impossible, given they the plague would still exist, I don't know why everyone keeps forgetting about the plague
TopKing63 exactly. They should’ve went with what they were planning
Infamous 1 and 2:
Long game, fun,VERY emotional at times, not necessarily the best graphics yet sustained a strong interest and finally the story is amazing!
Infamous second son:
Short game and literally the opposite from 1 and 2 however the gameplay is somewhat fun
2BNO and the graphics aren't good either? I really enjoyed this game. I had never played the ps3 ones tho
David Luiz graphics for second son were good and the ps3 versions were a bit of a mix. Infamous 1 was very grey and depressing however the story kept me interested however infamous 2 had a lot better graphics and it was a lot more vibrant
2BNO IF1 aged horribly graphics wisey but has the best story and karma system imo. In 2 and SS karma was almost only "go to red or blue mission"
Alexander Becker the graphics may have been bad but literally Every single other element in the game was amazing for its time
2BNO yeah, agreed. Regret selling 1 and 2, should play those again
Absolutely brilliant video- there's too little discussion on Infamous anymore. Looking forward to Part 2!
Gameplay-wise, I love this game, story-wise.... yeah, not so much
So, I went into this video expecting to disagree, but honestly I don't.
And second son, doesnt have that
Michael Von Patrick IV dude did you even watch the video, that isnt how genes work dumbass
Michael Von Patrick IV they were alive and adapted
cole killed all conduits, so there IS no conduit gene anymore to begin with
Darth Caasi that doesn't mean that a person or multiple people could have been born with a conduit gene that makes them immuned to it, or their gene could have been strong enough to survive it unlike Cole or Beast.
Zivalene I wasnt the one to result to insults. He was, Btw its *Michael Von Patrick*
This retcon findamentally breaks inFAMOUS lore
Summary for how conduits survived RFI:
Sucker Punch retconned the idea of them all dying after 2. There's no overly elegant explanation or context clues hidden in the story to explain it otherwise. They just wanted to make a sequel so they covered the retcon with poor and varied explanations. It's really just as simple as poor writing on their part.
Christian McGilton Pretty much, yeah.
Glad you liked it. :D
or the genes are survived after the good ending, or the beast, i mean cole and kuo are defeated by normal human, or some conduits are fight against beast cole, and kuo because they want to change humanity with a wrong way, or augustine when she became conduit, and get her concrete power, she's making an army with normal human forces, but she gives them concrete power, the DUP's start to fight cole, with augustine became giant golem, and all her brutes forces and defeat cole after infamous 2 bad ending
and Dr.wolfes mention "The first son" i mean.....WTF, so this second son is still makes sense
@@mfajriyanurian7515 .....what?
I know it's been three years but editing the comment removes the heart
@@omegaomg175 So it would seem.
For the first reason as to why Conduits still exist after Infamous 2:
The reason why soap doesn't kill 100% of bacteria is because there's a small chance that one bacteria has a mutation that allows it to survive.
Poor bastards must have been Conduits and didn't even know it."
For the other 2 reasons I completely agree with you with the 4th one still being the most likely.
I wish they would have just said that instead of giving us 4 crappy reasons.
Fantastic...)
overall i was just majorly let down by the number of powers you got in the game, and it was just cruel to tease us with paper.
But heres what "redeems" inFAMOUS Second Son imo:
I liked the change of atmosphere.
Let me break it down:
Smoke is for combat thats all up close and personal, the missles work well for when you see a nice huddles group and the smoke bomb works really well when you're making a bunch of dashes around the place and the subdues are really fast allowing you to get in and get out really fast.
You kinda just described the evil ending in inFAMOUS 2.
Zivalene ok thank you for answering my questions
Jakub Policht cool sadly will never know for sure because are so many possibilities not even funny
"It's a Ray Field Inhibitor."- Cole McGrath
The RFI wasn't completely guaranteed to do it's job.
Zivalene
Cole's power is electromagnetism, true.
What I hate about the shotty lore is really
The game isn’t like “Oh hey. You want the lore? Go and find all the notes and dead drops?”
Second son was the first game I 100%
(100% of all district on good. And beat story on evil)
The most you get is basically the DUP insider say “Yeah Augustine is a cold bitch. Fetch and Eugene were abused by society and poor souls.”
But from a fellow biology student.
I'm glad you were open about how you felt. I love that we, as fans, can have discussions like this without having to argue.
As a Infamous fan, I find Second Son to be my favorite Infamous but, I1 was the best one in a narrative design.
Sadly the problems with Second Son are all due to Sony having a year ripped off their hands to give it to 1886. Everything from the world, powers. script. story and development as a whole.
Hey, you actually know what's going on! Cool to see someone who's objective and studied and still willing to love what they love.
You make some excellent points with this video. There are too many plot holes in this game.
Also, there are a couple other problems with these ideas for “Why Conduits are still around”…
One that I can think up is that, Augustine had her powers activated by the Beast.
Subbed because this video had near flawless explanations.
I agree with most of what you said, but I generally base my opinion of a game almost entirely on my enjoyment of the gameplay, which was good but ad practically zero replay-ability
Also, my head canon for why the RFI didn't kill all of them is that Zeke did permanent damage when he broke it and couldn't fix it completely.
Zivalene well, I do like good stories, but a lack of a good story doesn't often ruin a game for me if the gameplay is good enough.
But idk I suck at story telling
Edit:damn I said conduit a lot.
It's literally not worth your time. More to come on that later.
This game is trash
@@ryanhowe6543 the hell does that mean? Does it mean it's fact that it's trash? Because if so... you're opinion is not fact, there are good things about the game, I don't like it but it's not trash, it's just a mediocre game made by one of the best studios in the business that doesn't stack up to their other masterpieces
Sorry, I just hate the game that much
As someone who really enjoyed Second Son, I'd like to really show my appreciation for the respect you showed in your video by giving you my thanks. Also your video really makes me want to play the other Infamous games now. Nice video.
10,000 conduits would also have been enough that if they went with the bad ending they would have enough genetic diversity to start their own little civilization
Agreed.
Sorry to see you had deleted your previous comment. I would have liked to have a conversation with you.
Zivalene oh heh sorry i made that comment before watching
Zivalene furthermore I had commented the following before I deleted the comment “ Finally! Someone who understands that infamous second son is a disappointment!”
Zivalene I’m all up for that conversation by the way
Even though I have no problem with Infamous Second Son I kind of heard of this theory that the reason the conduits are still around is because some of the conduit mutation evolve to the point that prevented the RFI from killing them
I've recently been wondering these questions but for some reason always came up short even the wiki to this game gave up now I see why thanks I've been wondering what was going on behind the scenes of this game for awhile now thanks
HOLLOW MAN hey hollow
sawgy patatos with cheese yo
All of this goes out the window once you know that the evil ending for infamous was actually the INTENDED ending 🤣
Don’t know who the hell you are or why you took so long to make this video but I completely agree
Thank you! I'm working on the next part right now, but it's slow going. My thoughts came much easier for how little sense this game made.
Zivalene i would like to say first that i agree mostly except that only 500 where caught thats not counting un awakened conduits in small citys with little to no dup occupation
I do believe outlined that and showed my work about 500 getting caught then worked my way backwards.
Zivalene is moth 👨 real in fallout 76
Lol @ Cole, the most powerful conduit on the planet being “taken care of”
In the thumbnail, it says Delsin should be dead. And that's incorrect because Delsin wasn't a conduit until after the events of Infamous 1 and 2. Fetch, Eugene and Hank spent their time in Curden Cay. Delsin got his powers from Hank when the truck was supposed to head to upstate Washington.
So long as someone had the Conduit gene, the RFI killed them. All of the characters should be dead.
Zivalene You even mentioned this in the actual video.
They should just admit its not canon
If they came out and said this was a non-canon spin-off I would be jubilant. But instead I have to pretend that it is.
Me too, this had so unbelieveably little to do with the first two games and even festival of blood, I like to pretend this game never happened
Wanna say first and foremost that I'm endlessly happy that I found this channel
My boi Cole doesn't get the love he deserves (even if I'm adamant in my belief of keeping him in the Good Karma canon).
Zivalene, would you like to see an infamous game that takes place in kesslers timeline that details all the events that lead up to the first game?
Hell Yes! And the final boss is the Beast (with proper difficulty and insanity) after his family dies and he goes to get revenge in a fervor of rage.
Omg this is your best video yet!!!!
Forgive my language but that asshole of a girl that left cole in his time of need dying just doesnt compare... im not looking to incite rage. this is just someone who did not like the other infamous games and loves second son.
for what its worth. even though i disagree. i did enjoy the video and i hope you keep it up
I agree with you.
Is it wrong to pretend that inFAMOUS Second son doesn't exist and that only the first two infamous games are canon?
That's what I do.
Nope. Nothing wrong with that. I enjoy the game myself, just not for the story. I like exploring Seattle and enjoying the visuals.
So the beast cole was going to be a dr manhattan reference?
Cole is one of my favourite characters I love him and zeke
I actually really liked the game. But I haven’t seen the video so I’ll comment again after the video is over. But we both played the game cause it was free 😂
Eh didn’t really like the first two games but loved second son
Imma teach you a lesson. Infamous second son sucked and was horrible at that. The first two games actually had a great story and way greater play through. I bet you’re one of those”” infamous second son got me into the series. Infamous second son is horrible.
Dude Quit being a jerk
Excited for part 2, please get it out as soon as you can! 👍🏼
Great video I agree with all the points :)
Thank you for your awesomely long comment! I will keep it in mind for future videos. :)
The psn outage is also the exact reason I got into the series. I would love to see inFAMOUS given a remaster.
they really need to port the infamous duo to ps4 cuz my ps3 is dead, as for the video all i can say is yes yes & yes
I'm like, the only person who likes all inFAMOUS games.
i've been playing infamous ever since the hack as well, i loved it.
i played the demo of the sequel nonstop until one of my brothers told me he had the second game. i had beaten both games.
i've seen gameplay of second son, delsin shouldn't be alive. there's no the conduit gene hadn't been activated yet, you simply needed to have the gene to die (well that's how i think how it is.)
water shouldn't even be dangerous, in infamous 1 and 2 water is dangerous because lightning, hell there was a flooded area in infamous 2, but the first fucking mission in second son water everywhere and if you fall in it you take damage. what the fuck sucker punch, you made 5 good games before this, what happened?
mage. Water isn't dangerous in second son. He just doesn't swim because it's cold
@@yourdad6122 yeah, when you are not on a mission, when you are on a mission and fall in the water-delsin die and the checkpoint restart like he died as well...
No, he doesn't swim because he doesn't know how. He even says so in the game.
Aight so nobody gonna notice how Fetch’s brother is in the picture at 12:39? That should be a given indication to second son all in itself
