Hollow World Building | inFAMOUS: Second Son (Part 3)

- For part 3, I take a tour of Seattle and find the reflection of reality to be a lot more boring than made-up cities. Two more parts to go. (Also, I apologize if I come off as uneducated when it comes to Native American culture.)

This is a pretty good video. I'm just commenting to gush about inFAMOUS 2, because holy shit that game is good. I've played it over at least 10 times just because I had so much fun with it. Seriously, if anyone here sees this comment and hasn't played it, get yourself a copy of it for whatever you have that it was released on and play it. If you regret it, then I will eat pant.
i tried to get my friend into it and all he could do was shit on all the intro dialogue and sound of his voice. it really sucked XD
I'd rather if they just stopped at 2 (and festival of blood)
I agree! Infamous 2 is a great game! I really hope they make a remaster or remake of the oringinal 2 Infamous games
If we got a remaster or remake I’d be so damn happy it’s one of my favorite game series I just wish Delsin wasn’t so bland he was let down by his own game
"They turned InFamous's equivalent of 9/11 into a ballet" HAHAHAHAHAHA
Anyone want to go watch 9/11 the musical? Or 9/11 on ice perhaps?
I want this to be a thing. Just two guys standing in tower costumes next to each other, and two people dressed as planes run into them
Osama On Ice
Snapvine Watermelon I mean there’s sort of a 9/11 musical. It’s called Come From Away. Though that’s more about an event connected to 9/11 rather than the event itself
Snapvine Watermelon there is a 9/11 musical. It’s called Come From Away. But it’s about an event that took place because of 9/11 not strictly the event. Look it up, it’s actually a great musical.
Have you pointed out how underdeveloped the powers were? all of the powers just seem so bland, every single power is just dash, glide, and shoot missile or fast projectiles. They had the opportunity to create an awesome combinations of powers were delsin for example used smoke in combat as in shooting, digital to create minions and neon to travel. but instead they just decided to give delsin the same power with four times with different visual effects.
Good ideas
Yeah, that was a shame for me as well. Personally, I wish they had stuck with just one power and used their imagination to come up with clever application of it instead of the random assortment of samey projectiles we got.
Bending electricity to your will was cool but controlling a character that IS essentially smoke sounds even better. Second Son really doesn't do anything with that tho. Nor with the other powers.
The powers discussion is next.
Rod VonBoche I agree!
Rod VonBoche same I alyaws felt his power is lazy
One of the biggest shortcomings of Second Son's Seattle imo is that it doesn't convey the mood and tone to the player. It was meant to be a city under military occupation, but it never felt that way. Civilians behave rather casually and don't react to DUP troops or even tanks. 'Show don't tell' is an important rule that gets broken. We're TOLD how oppressive the DUP are, but we hardly see it. Outside of the story they're little more than re-skinned cops with powers.
What infuriates me is that the first two games were excellent at doing this. Empire City was in chaos. We didn't need to be told that because we SAW it. We saw citizens eating out of trash and fighting to survive as gangs fought for control. We saw conduit lynch mobs and mass hysteria. New Marais meanwhile is under a military takeover similar to that of Second Son's but once again, we see and feel this. We see the militia rounding up conduits, attacking the police and generally being dickheads, while being bombarded with Bertrand's propoganda. Later on in the game we see Bertrand's control begin to slip away as rival factions emerge and engage in battles with the militia and each other. In 1 and 2 we got dynamic settings that were affected by the events of the story and felt alive. Seattle meanwhile feels like a static background totally disjointed from the plot.
Here's the best way I can describe Infamous 1-2 and Second Son.
In Infamous 1-2 I could recognize each part of the cities, I knew where to go without the minimap, and I could tell where I was at a glance by architecture alone.
In Second Son Seattle is unmemorable aside from the China Town section. Which is memorable by DEFAULT since the asian architecture is such a stark contrast from everything else. I had to constantly look at the map to know where I was. I had no enjoyment getting from Point A to B.
To be honest, I think it's a good thing Infamous 1's graphics were kind of shit. It fitted with the atmosphere of the city greatly
It's also fun to see Sucker Punch's stepping stones of graphical quality improve drastically over Sly > inFAMOUS 1 > inFAMOUS 2 and Second Son. It takes them a long time to make games, but they use the time wisely.... most of the time.
@@Zivalene well there be a part 4
@@shadowmasterking6542 dude it's been 2 years
The first few sentences sum up how I feel about the Festival of Blood DLC. Sucker Punch could have made a whole lore that Conduits have always been a thing throughout the history of the Infamous world. One example could have the common vampire. Making a vampire a type of conduit would explain her powers: she relies on blood to heal herself or replenish her strength (like a typical Conduit), she can make forced Conduits by biting them (like how Sasha can control her Reapers), and she could shape-shift (like Bertrand). However, making her weak to holy items just makes her a typical/atypical vampire.
(I understand it was non-canon, but it would be cooler for the whole Infamous franchise to centralize their universe on the idea of Conduits being the accepted term for super humans).
I like the passion you have for this game. I don’t see people make videos about franchises that have fallen off. God I hope Infamous one and two get the remaster treatment.
I would love an inFAMUS 1 and 2 remaster. The first game is probably my favorite, but the animations, models and some textures have not aged well.
The Spongy Mallard and i hope they increase the frame rate
The first game for sure.
You know, when I first played this game, I absolutely loved it. Not once did I ever think about all of the points you've made in this series of videos. Reflecting on it now years later, I'm seeing all of the flaws and differences between the games. Literally everything you've said in each of these videos I have agreed with. Looking forward to seeing more from you.
This is fast becoming my favorite analysis series on UA-cam.
Thank you! :)
Ik I'm late but same
As someone who has lived in the greater Seattle Area for almost my entire life, I was very disappointed in the in game interpretation. Sure the atmosphere is right and seeing local businesses was nice, though, only for a while. When real world locales that are featured in the game, such as the Space Needle and Pacific Science Center, are not where they should be in relation to each other it removed my sense of immersion. It really started to take effect when I was using real world directions to find Pike Place Market and the Gum wall, two of my favorite places to visit, and failing to find both. This made me realize this is not the city I know, just some Northwestern city with Seattle's land marks. It remains my biggest problem with the game to this day, even more so than the fact it follows the hero ending of 2.
Thanks for sharing that as a local! It's nice to hear some first hand account to validate the game.
Is it wrong to love second son
As someone who was born and raised in Seattle, and has been to all the locations several times, and has been near Sucker Punch's studio in Redmond, I was "A interactive Seattle, but with InFamous superpowers as Troy Baker?", you alreadly had my money. Then going through the game, I was like, "Wow is this Seattle REALLY small and condensed", then getting the Platinum trophy, I realized how bland it is, though pretty. What disappoints me further is the fact Sucker Punch KNOWS Seattle, you'd think there would be more details, but oh well.
Sucker punches studio is in Bellevue
Which is near Seattle.
You don't get it, graphics are everything, this is the greatest thing since sliced bread!
It is so weird how New Marais is much closer to the feel of New Orleans than "Seattle" is to Seattle. I love InFamous Second Son (my favorite game in fact) but I think they should have called in Seaport if they were going to take SO MUCH liberties with how the real Seattle is laid out. I swear it's like they had never been to Seattle at all! :)
I'm guessing there were places they couldn't put in the game without paying a lot of money, but they could have done a better job of at least getting the "feel" of Seattle.
In comparison to second son, the side missions in infamous 2 really made sense and I didn't feel like just having a boring to do list to complete, without any meaning...
I thought inFAMOUS 2 took place a month after inFAMOUS 1. Didn't cole mention meeting Kuo a month after finding out who Kessler is?
You're right. The comic takes place in the remaining days in the month and a few days after the comic itself is when inFAMOUS 2 begins. I was speaking relative to the comic and event therein that I was citing.
I subscribed to you today because of these InFamous videos, and lo and behold you post a new one the same day
I really love your analysis for this series
Keep it up
I played “second Son” when I lived in Russia, after playing it I wanted to visit Seattle very much. When I came to America and visited Seattle I was very happy (seeing Space Needle in real life was very cool). It’s just interesting how a video game can make you wanna visit so place in a different county.
Review is going good, keep it up~
One minor note: Paper Trail isn't DLC; there's no separate purchase or download. Instead, it's an ARG: a part of the game that's played on the internet (plus in whatever external method you use to solve puzzles, be it MS paint or real life origami). While it's accessed in a unique way, it's technically included as a part of the main game. The website is also currently up and fully functional on my end (though it seems it was having technical issues for other users recently).
It was added in a patch released after the game. You had to download the patch. Downloadable Content.
While technically correct, I think classifying that way ignores the colloquial meaning of the term. "DLC" colloquially refers not to absolutely anything that is downloaded, but instead content that is downloaded separately from the game itself. Hence why games that have no physical release are still commonly referred to as having separate "DLC," which would be nonsense if all digital games were considered "DLC" to begin with. The average person who watches this video without having played the questline themselves will be assuming that definition, and therefore also assume that Paper Trail is an element that will not exist in their game unless they go out of their way to make it exist. The difference is important: a patch is not only available to all players, it's more difficult to play the game without the patch than it is to play with it. Additionally, patched content is not inherently download-only: later prints of game discs are usually the most recent version of the game. This may or may not have happened with Second Son, but it shows that even a strictly semantic definition of DLC doesn't necessarily fit.
God I love this channel. Infamous is my favorite "super power/super hero" game franchise.
God0fCows Agreed. I’ll take InFamous over DC and Marvel any day.
I want to see you talk about how you could fix Infamous: Second Son at the end of this analysis (continuing with the general premise of the game). Just an idea, loving this so far!
It's an idea, but I don't think anybody will like it. But what do I care, this whole series has just been my opinion with evidence anyway.
I can't deny that Seattle in Second Son was breath taking. Imagine New Marais in the graphics quality!
To be honest I personally think Sony rushed this game due to it being a launch title for the ps4 and it needed to come out of think another year or 2 of development and world building it could have been one of the better games to be released in the infamous line of games thanks for making this video it made me open my eyes on this world
I think you're right, because all the powers were underdeveloped, and it was way shorter than any other infamous game. I can see the four powers thing being really fun, but they messed it up
Sir Peebles Exactly I totally agree the powers where fun but felt under cut and after a while was boring and most missions where going to get new powers
Considering killzone: shadow fall and Knack being the launch tutles instead, they should've taken more time to finish it
It wasn't even a launch title.
6:15 *raises hand* Uh, Empire City does that too.
I just want to point out how in the first game in some missions where there is a good or bad choice the good choice is often harder. For instance the help Trisha mission where you can make someone else turn the values so you don’t get covered, because if you’re good (which I always am in these types of games because I’m a coward) you get covered and get visually blinded and lose a chunk of your electricity pool. Or when there is a garbage monster holding an explosive can or something that you can blow you to damage it but kill civilians. I loved that because it felt like I had to try to be the hero, that I had to make sacrifices to be good. It wasn’t just about “Oh I want to to have these powers this play through” And the morality system changed the world with posters of you and civilian interaction.
Meanwhile in second son I don’t even remember much of either side of the morality gave you. All I remember is you either aim for the head or foot with neon and summon demons with cyber powers. Give me ice and sludge and day of the week.
This game made me think that Seattle was boring when I first played it. Thanks game!
You've literally ripped the words out of my brain about this game. Good job👍🏿
I’ve been a long time fan of the infamous series ever since one I’ve played to the mall I lost track of how many times I’ve completed infamous too and I love the world of infamous second son but that’s because I live i’ve been a long time fan of the infamous series ever since one I’ve play to the mall I lost track of how many times I’ve completed infamous two and I love the world of infamous second son but that’s because I live in Washington and never noticed how it would seem to an outsider that doesn’t know the local look or feel thank you for giving me this view I’ve never thought about before great videos love your work keep it up
Yay I love these inFAMOUS reviews
Thank you for speaking about these series it’s like everyone has given up on this series
The only way it dies is if we forget about it.
Actually one of greatest problem with Second Son was they said before release Delson will have the power to copy powers from other conduits.
I was really hyped to see what he will got after smoke and neon.
I was really sad after I heared he will only have 4 powers and the last isn't even complete...
God I want another Cole based infamous game...you would think at the very least they would go their original route and do another one based off the bad ending of 2.
Link10103 I feel ya man.
It's worth watching humanity die after seeing what second son's world was like.
Completely agree. If nothing else, Second Son made me like the Evil Ending more (even though I was already on board for it).
I wanted the bad ending to be canon. Just not with Cole as the same protagonist,as I prefer being like David fighting the Goliath. By that,I mean Cole - now the beast - is Goliath while this new protagonist is David. I think that's the story anyway.
Sounds cool to me. And one of the joys of writing 'Legacy of the Beast' is getting to play with that "David and Goliath" aspect. And making the Beast actually intimidating.
Zivalene yeah that must be fun I wonder if you will make Cole a character that everyone talks too or some unreachable "god" type of character guess we'll find out have fun!
Have you seen the concept art for second son? The game itself is pretty bland but the concept art is gorgeous!
Headcanon
First Light is the canon sequel to 2
Second Son is the Hollywood production Zeke was talking about in the inFAMOUS comics.
Rofl I'll take it!
I honestly don't want to aknowledge the second son/first light continuity at all
Hey I've started to read your fanfiction and I must say.........God you're so talented!
Thank you!!!!! :D
Is Sonic in it?
Oddly specific for a fan fiction that has never been described as a cross-over.
It's not a real fan fiction without a Sonic sex romp. That's fan fiction 101.
You're very right. It's not a real fan fiction. I'm writing a story that transcends fan fiction and actually takes itself seriously like a actual published book. It doesn't adhere to the common abhorrent features of a fan fiction, it is going to be the best most respectable fan fiction ever made. I'm going to provide the inFAMOUS fan base a fan fiction the likes of which the internet had never seen and prove that there is more to it than Sonic and sex.
Nice video I throughly enjoy you talking about infamous
I found your channel not to long ago and you're the best Infamous UA-camr I know
Thanks! :)
You really opened my eyes with these analysis videos.Thanks.
Empire City musical is like 9/11 ballet? Try Japan making a ballet of thousands of people dying in Hiroshima and Nagasaki. The whole city was essentially nuked by the Beast ;)
Thought I loved your insight on my favorite playstation series before, but your Courtney Love comment clinched it. You're awesome and glad I found your channel.
Thanks. :) I mean really, she treats Cobain's memory as a cash grab.
HI I'm just a normal guy and I just found out your channel like 2 hours ago and I have been watching your whole infamous video essays all that time God they're so good and this might sound a little crazy but......I think I love you and I can't wait to read your fanfiction!
Thanks for ripping into this game.
I do personally enjoy this game, but I definitely feel your points against it are valid. I thought the idea of the power of power absorption was pretty cool, but the characters were kinda meh. I don’t even remember crying at Reggie’s death, but every time I play infamous 2 on evil karma killing zeke brings tears to my eyes every time. I do in the end wish that sucker punch would have gone with their gut and made the 3rd game based on the evil ending. I do hope they continue this franchise somehow, but considering their next game in development isn’t infamous we will have to wait a really long time if it even happens at all.
14:07 I didn't even know that they put Phoenix Jones in the game
You know, when i first played Second Son, i had an okay time. and besides it being repetitive, i didn't have really any issues. But i cannot dispute any of your points. Very well constructed video Zivalene! :D
Yeah, after SP makes Ghost of Tsushima 2, I hope they flesh out Delsin and the Akomish more in Infamous 4
Lol i think infamous is pretty much a dead cat after second son.
This series is great and it’s really cool to get some info from behind the scenes
Sadly I never got to try the paper trail mission because I didn't understand how it worked when the game came out,i didn't try cole's legacy either because I didn't pre order the game and I didn't have a ps4,I got the bundle that included second son with my ps4 and back then even if you were in the EU you couldn't buy cole's legacy. Now you can buy it for 6$ from the ps store and I am thinking about getting it because I like the game and I want to know what happened in between infamous 2 and second son, even though I love second son I have to agree with your videos, infamous second son didn't feel like a complete game and it feels like sucker punch focused on the gameplay and graphics more than the world and story, focusing on gameplay isn't a bad thing but they made the game feel underwhelming when compared to the previous infamous games, great video as always and I am looking forward to part4!
dragonballfox wait you can get coles legacy still right now? I thought you could only get it through preorder?
F7 Surma yes you can if you own the EU version of the game,it costs 6$
You aren't missing much really. Paper Trail was tedious and boring for me, but then again, I don't like puzzles. It just made me wish I got the paper power than just a mask and jacket. SP will never release other powers though, I have a feeling.
Irma-C ☆ at this point sucker punch is focusing on ghost of Tsushima so I don't expect anything infamous related until 2020
You're pretty optimistic when Sucker Punch has never released games (Aside from DLC) less than 3 years apart from each other. They are a small studio unlike the ones thay can have multiple teams working on more than one project simultaneously in order to pump out one game a year. You shouldn't even be expecting Ghost of Tsushima until 2020.
While I do love Second Son and all the characters, I do see your points in this series, and I do immensely enjoy these videos and your channel as a whole.
I do agree with the world building aspect as the interactions felt more stock than previous games. When you got to the side quests, the one that immediately jumps to my mind was past decisions. That in itself changes from a simple interaction in good karma or a straight up ambush in evil karma. It's my favorite because of that, where your actions changes a side quest in different ways. I just find it sad that Sucker Punch was more interested in looks instead of substance in Second Son.
I agree with all of your points. Past all the Sly Cooper jokes, Seattle feels less real than fictional cities. Good work! Eagerly waiting the next one.
Yes, lots of Sly Cooper Easter eggs and I liked to see them, but there were more of those than actual characterization of the city.
Really good points here. Especially the one about the space needle. I completely forgot that I tried to climb it and hit that invisible wall. I want Cole back, or another character just as good
The original Infamous had the best story in my opinion, a man with no knowledge of what happened trying to make sense of the explosion, and you choose how he goes about it. In the 2nd Cole felt so gimped by Kuo and Nyx, I couldn't care less about their motives, the shock about Kuo being a conduit, or Nyx and her family felt out of touch, and they never did much for the story other than antagonizing each other, although I did like the bond/oppossing ideals with Zeke. And in Second Son my biggest gripe is the tribe, you only know one person from it, and barely at that, so your entire gaming experience is revolved around saving them, no matter the path you take, it makes sense from plot perspective since it's his kin against the world, or so it seems, but nothing compelled me about that plot point. Also thanks for these retrospectives and critiques, having no means to play the ps3 titles, looking back through these videos really makes me nostalgic, and great work with these!
I don't know if you will agree with me but when I first played Infamous Second Son I thought it was pretty cool to have another hero but with a different power but then after I played it like three to four times it kind of got repetitive.
To me they could have done a lot better with the story I mean we get a DLC for one character and then after that everyone probably was hoping to get another DLC for Eugene or Hank or something.
in my opinion this is what I think they should have done I mean yeah the ability of a conduit having power absorption that was pretty cool but it was kind of stupid to have the character Delsin absorb a little bit of the power and then afterwards you get their powers of like absorb more of the power except for in Eugene's case because he didn't have to chase him down like you did with Hank and Abigail. But for Sucker Punch I think they should have done something a little bit similar to what they did with Abigail Walker on her DLC like literally have us play as the other 4 characters so that way we can have a longer gameplay then a game that's basically almost 2 to 5 hours long I mean I myself and still playing it and I'm on the evil side and I already got you genes powers and that was like within Maybe half a day.
and what I mean by I allow us to play as the other characters like give us a DLC for Hank Eugene and Brooke and then allow us to play from the beginning of their lives where they weren't conduits and then up to the point where they unlock their powers and then you know for the other three Hank Abigail and Eugene they get captured by Brooke and for Brooke we can actually use her powers to actually in case the conduits and then it the game would be longer like that would be a better game because then we would know their backs Tori how they were before they got their powers and how they were after they got their powers I mean all we did was a like a sped up movie reel about their lives and how they got their powers
I'm gonna assume you were absolutely wasted when you wrote this, because I don't understand anything you're saying
Sir Peebles if u dont understand how to read this then you’re either not good at reading or can’t spell autocorrect words even if they’re similar
Trust me, before he edited it, it was way worse
Sir Peebles okay first off before you start assuming that someone drinks when they type out their opinion maybe you should think about what you type out YOURSELF.
secondly to answer your question no I wasn't wasted when I typed this out I was actually if you can understand know what tired means then you would know that people aren't Androids and can't stay up past their limit so therefore when I typed this out I was dead tired.
also I would like to point out that just because you couldn't understand any of it that doesn't mean that I was wasted or high like most people would be when they type something up. so maybe you should stop assuming that when someone type something up full of typos that they're drunk and being a dick about it maybe you should be nice about it and actually ask them what they meant.
And finally know it wasn't worse before I edited my comment I was just trying to say different things on different points within the game so therefore maybe you should ask before you type up what you think
It's a fucking joke, jesus christ
I love your channel and I love these games... even second son lol I just love the story and world and your videos are a great place to open my imagination with the series and inspires me to write :D
Great video! I knew I wasn’t wrong about telling my friends the world of Second son was small compared to the previous games. About the part where you mention fan fictions. Yeah that’s true, I don’t like Self insert fics. Because let’s be honest, it’s the writers point of view that we are seeing in another person who thinks differently then us. The protagonist would just comment on things that we the readers may think too which connects the reader and writer, and then the times what random comments they make makes you feel detached from the hero we follow.
But seriously it like you said it just feels like there’s a lot of inside jokes that we the player didn’t understand. But common I wished Delsin got better powers or different various ability that only one power got over the other. I know that already happened Neon makes you run around like a flash, who doused himself in neon paint before going to save the day. Smoke just make area affect ability of insnaring enemies. Digital gave you wings and invisibility and summons, while Concrete gave you the ability to become an earth bender from Avatar the Last Airbender. Other than those small add on to those ability everyone else is the same. It would have been cool to at least fuse to powers Neon and Smoke, he can run a little faster than regular Neon dash, but with the added bonus of being untangle because the effects of smoke and it will drain you meter faster because using ability is taxing.
all these vids you’ve made about second son point out all its flaws perfectly. just straight undeniablefacts.
To be honest, I'd totally watch a infamous ballet. If only to see Cole in a leotard.
Oh and don't forget the electronic stores name after Cole, which would be like a real world chain of furniture stores named Jesus N's Furniture.
Okay so I fell asleep with this on and the distant sounding shouts with the music actually translated into my dream as kids screaming.
That kid was playing Second Son, clearly.
Just want to say I managed to get back across the bridge that was destroyed and REALLY hard to get across. It's been awhile but I THINK I was able to go all the way back to when you first get out of the truck. Either that or they didn't even let me get back into the tunnel.
2 years late but theres an elephant car wash on pacific ave in tacoma washington. Haveing been away from tacoma for so long coming across that easter egg brought a tear to my eye.
I climbed up the space needle and made it passed that invisible wall to do it you need concrete but when you get to the top there’s no physics to stand on
That's sad. :(
a week late but I'm here! great video as usual.
It would have been sick if Cole and Delsin actually met
The second I saw that Cooper and MacGrath store I said "Fuck You Sucker Punch you hacks!" because they more or less ruined the stories of Sly Cooper and Infamous (Yes I know Sanzuru owns Sly now but they just dropped it like a sack of shit and Infamous was written by them so my point still stands!)
Thieves in Time and Second Son, two games that ruined their franchises
I never even brother with paper trail because it was such a pain just to start it up but now it’s not even accessible? Pathetic.
I am thoroughly enjoying your videos on infamous and I'm starting to read your fanfic, which is great. And I'm truly surprised that they shut down InfamousPapertrail. I literally completed it when I replayed the game a few months back.
I remember looking at concept art for second son and the art work showed a more ambitious version of what second son could have been, it even gave ideas of what the open world could have been with floating concrete in the environment, and even has evidence that sucker punch was planning to have a boss fight with Augustine on a giant tower of concrete levitating over top of Seattle. Oh what could have been
I actually loved this video, keep it up!
You can use concrete to fly up the space needle but obviously it’s not a solid object so you’ll just slide off
very informative and well done.
Also you sound very familiar, you sound like a friend that I knew in highscool. Texas is pretty big I doubt you're the same person I am thinking about, but your content is A+
Thank you. It is a pretty big place. I do not recognize your name though.
Zivalene lol one more question if you'll indulge me a bit longer, but you didn't go Bellaire highscool.
No. Down south near Corpus Christi.
Zivalene well thank you for answering my questions, I would have gone mad with curiosity. look forward to your future content.
Didn`t know paper trail was down. It is honestly my favorite part of second son not only for the story but because it finnaly gives some other sidequest types than the ones available in the base game.
"Self Insert rarely ever creates a good character or a good world."
Take notes Mindy Kaling
Just talking about the 1st game is giving me flashbacks to playing
I'm glad someone is finally taking the time to deconstruct Second Son and why it ended up so underwhelming.
Still waiting for more...
I love your analysis series
You know, the more I think about it, it would’ve been pretty cool to parkour around the Akomish City or whatever it’s called and just check out more of it before heading out, or at least be able to revisit it.
Really enjoying these
I do like Infamous Second Son but I do have some issues with it like how the smoke Dash isn't like Hanks and I also don't like the attack with the concrete power
That's it I'm subscribing. This is some quality content you got here.
Thank you!
Second Son had a good environment graphically, but The Demon was the missing piece of the puzzle. Macgrath>Rowe.
Hello Miss Zivalene, nice to meet you, I just came across your channel and I would like to express my opinion regarding the subject you are dealing with in a respectful way:
I honestly don't think that inFamous Second Son is as bad a game as you say (in fact I played it again recently and enjoyed it) but I understand some points you made in your video-analysis series and I respect your opinion, but the truth is I have I am interested in knowing what will happen to Delsin, her friends and what they will do with the inFamous franchise in general and I am hopeful that in the future when a sequel to Second Son comes out they will improve things like the Script (which I recognize could be better) and develop a little to the characters, plan a better story, make a longer game and in general improve all the good things that Second Son has, because so far they have only released 1 game without Cole Mcgrath (2 if we count First Light) and in what Personally, I think that in the right hands, Delsin has a lot of potential as a Character, which I hope they take advantage of in the future (and I even wish Betty and Delsin had a dynamic Aunt May and Peter Parker / Spider-Man style in an upcoming inF amous) and in that sense Second Son would only be the cover letter for the following inFamous (Although I recognize that inFamous Second Son feels more like a Reboot than a continuation or a sequel) POSTSCRIPT: I will respectfully leave some points with which I do not agree
-I do not think that Eugene's Character is an insult to Gamers but that he is shy with people because he was locked up in Cordun Cay for 6 years, and for a physically and mentally weak youth like Eugene that would obviously affect him
-I don't think it's a bad decision to use a real city for InFamous Second Son, because a good or bad video game can take place at any time, place and have nothing to do with the quality of the game.
-I like that Delsin is less serious because that way he differs more from Cole
3:49 surely I'm not the only person who's found that girl to be one of the prettiest characters in gaming right? I mean she exists for a single still shot but damn she's definitely up there.
Ah misogyny in gaming as always
@@nekokami3005 how is finding a fictional character attractive mysoginistic? I also find Cole hot does that also make me sexist? Or is it only because it's a girl? Get your SJW bullcrap out of here
Damn you really hate this game huh? lol
It's been really therapeutic talking about it.
Who doesn’t hate it
Zivalene right?!
sawgy patatos with cheese she doesnt hate it , he just doesnt like it , dont feel the thunder (get it ) (ok no)
I myself don’t hate the game. I still find it somewhat enjoyable, but I can understand it’s flaws.
Ever since I've played it, I've wanted to rewrite the story of inFAMOUS: Second Son (because it's my second favorite). Now I feel like I'd have to.
Fun fact: the graffiti at 12:37 is ripped directly from infamous 2, on the inside of the train yard wall
I have NO idea how much you know about modern Native American Culture…
But I was actually pretty ok with how they portrayed the Akomish in Second Son. Because it’s a dying tradition. Betty seems to be the cultural, political, and social leader of the tribe. She wears a combination of traditional clothing with modern shoes, under-shirt, and plain skirt.
Again, I don’t know where you come from, but I’m from Montana. Still live there now. And how the Akomish are portrayed, the little we get, is pretty believable.
It’s normally the older generations who feel the call to embrace traditions. If you want a good feeling of what life is on Res’, read Counting Coup. I personally don’t love non-fiction, they kinda bore me, but it’s a pretty damn good book.
Anyway- Having a heavily integrated culture with modern living is COMPLETELY normal. They have and operate a FISH CANNERY.
Delsin and Reggie are our only look into a young adults life, but they seem pretty normal. Idk, they are just- decently normal people.
Native Americans… MODERN Native Americans, with very few exceptions, are actually very modern and with the times. They have their traditions, sure, but atleast in Montana, they play Basketball and Football, they drive the same cars, have the same hobbies, and have the same… everything. They are just people with a different culture, they aren’t some aliens who you can’t figure out unless you know everything about everything about them.
Idk, it’s just- it sounds like you are grasping at straws. I agree with a lot of your points, but this one was painful to listen to.
Betty is the community Grandma who has a culture she has tapped into. Everyone else wears modern clothes… because they live modern lives.
The Long House is probably their cultural center; like a City Hall. It has rooms, and they can be changed into living quarters if needed, but I assume only the old or the sick actually sleep there at any time. Which is exactly what we see.
It’s importance is not in the past, but in the present. We see it how it is now.
And also, what about how you were complaining that the game doesn’t shift stuff around? Doesn’t the Akomish being a new named tribe kinda throw a wrench into all that?
Idk man; I like Second Son. I just platinumed it.
And half of your complaints are either you not looking at a different angle, or you saying “Infamous 1 and 2 did this so much better”.
Ugh- I hate being angry- especially at a 4 year old video but still…
Yes, the game isn’t as narratively gripping as the last two. Yes, it’s DEFINITELY not a perfect continuation. And yes, I’m sure Infamous 2 is better, like you keep saying.
But just because each of these things doesn’t meet the expectations of Infamous 2, doesn’t mean that it’s still not a good game.
Are the characters cut-outs? YES, because they work.
Is the story ignoring the past games and their endings? YES, because you can’t make a game following the good end of Infamous 2 without changing one or two things to actually make it work.
I just- I feel the need to rant because I agree with half of your points while the other half sound like you got your OWN hopes up.
Like, you said you’ve been writing your own Fan Fic? I read it, it’s good.
But DEAR GOD it’s like you expected the next Infamous Game to be like your Fan Fic!
I call this the “Kingdom Hearts 3 Problem” or the “Pokemon Gen 5 Problem.”
Where fans get their hopes up SOOOOOOOO high, that they can feel nothing but boredom and hatred for the game when it comes out.
And then when people come back to it? It’s great! People love it because they let it simmer. They realize that a lot of what they wanted isn’t there, and that’s ok, because what is there WORKS.
It’s not perfect, but it’s FUN. It’s fun to shoot smoke missles. It’s fun to run up walls. It’s fun to fly through satalites. It’s fun to destroy DUPs with their own power.
It’s just fun. That’s it.
My complaint was moreso in the vein of "we don't know what their culture is besides Modern Native American". I want to know more about what makes them unique, and not just "Native American". If it's accurately represented, good for them. Just wanted to know what made the Akomish "Akomish".
And while I didn't expect Second Son to be like my own project, I see my project as an alternative possibility to "what if they stuck with their original idea?"
Thank you for leaving such a long, thoughtful and driven response. Please don't be mad, we all have our own opinions and insights. Thanks for watching the video and putting your time into your comment, I hope you had a better day afterwards. :)
Hey I had an idea for legacy of the beast if you haven't already thought of it, what if towards the beginning of the story Cole has nightmares about Nix and Zeke, maybe even Trish as well, and later on during an important battle he starts having hallucinations of them and it gets him mortally wounded?
This is a really interesting analysis. I've been meaning to do a video about how the Karma system in Second Son doesn't work as well as the first two games, and I'm curious if you're going to go into that yourself.
I will, but I am saving that for part 5.
Hey, Ziv, in regards to ypur question about why we cant get to the top of the needle, I read something about how they didnt want us "jumping off of the tourist location" simulation or otherwise. Thought you ought to know. Keep up the good work!
Woooooow. Rofl. Sucker Punch has changed. Going from a Chinese rooster in Sly three who was outwardly sexist to not wanting to offend Naitive Americans and defacing a virtual Space Needle. I am in awe. Thank you for informing me. Think I'll make a topic on that one day.
It was a requirement for putting the needle in the game. Apparently, if you fall off the needle during the mission you fail and start over instead of hitting the ground.
Zivalene u don't you make the next game come 2 3 videos explaining how would you update the characters what the signs he would change in it what gameplay elements see what they had what would be the next setting would you change everything how would you make tell Santa better character in the salon I'm so on even come up with ideas on how you change his powers and new powers to is Arsenal that certain characters don't have the heat unlocked or something
Zivalene o and hi hope you are good just trying to be nice
*face palm* Censorship.
You know it's super easy to climb space needle u just need concrete touch ing space needle will refill ur thrust then go out ward so no barrir affects u then in ward and bam ur at the top
It's so easy that the easiest and most straight forward method doesn't work because they didn't intend for you to get up there anyways. That's the problem.
Okay right off the bat, yes I wanted to know so much more about the Akomish and Seattle was pretty boring compared to Empire City and New Marais.
In Infamous and Infamous 2 there were times where I walked among the city streets just to take it in, where as in Second Son once I unlocked Video I just flew over the city not really giving a shit about what was happening on the ground. I didn't even really notice until you had said something. Because I wasn't spending time in the streets I didn't realize just how little I cared compared to the previous entries
you really manage to properly articulate all my issues i have with second son. i love infamous. it was the whole reason i got a ps3 and one of the pivotal driving forces of my current writing. when i talk about second son theres alot more yelling and disappointment involved. and ive straight up seen people irl with my rendition of delsins tattoo inked onto their body. it was before the official one was released. i drew it and made some of the DUP propaganda because of how much i love the series. i did if2 coles tattoos as well from reference photos and screenshots. but second son doesnt do anything as well as past games. it's pretty and has the bare-bones attributes of the series identity like powers and karma but i would rather the karma be stripped out if it meant the world and story felt real and not feel like a severe discount xmen story as well as being unbearably predictable.
This video series makes me want to play Infamous 1&2 again, it's been far too long.
Great video as always
I really appreciate your fanfic
Thanks!
@@Zivalene I read all of the chapters last night
The cravings for more are too intense
Gonna to my best to get it done.
What was the first name of the song from the soundtrack?
Also, great video. But I don't think I needed to say that at all.
I wish these games would come to a PC as Infamous is one of my favourite games.
PlayStation now
Pause at 1:13 and it seems like a familiar event
I actually climbed all the way up to the top afterwards, I couldn't stay there, but I did
0:05 *I* ❤ *NY!* *and Everybody loves NY!*
Can u plz make a video about Power Ideas for infamous? It would be sweet!!!
Oh god it’s happening again!!!
