We use turmeric paste for skin from the time a girl comes to puberty. It helps to curtail hair growth. We apply castor oil to eyebrows and even scalp for thick hair. Oil baths (a full body massage and after half an hour, bath in warm water), mostly on Saturdays, are still a common practice here. Oils differ based on regions we come from. For wrinkles and skin tightening, it's always Aloe Vera gel. Mostly it's only after 50 years old. But, nowadays girls are using all these chemical products and ageing so quickly and it's such a sad state of affairs.
I just found your Channel and I am so enjoying it!! I had to chuckle when you mentioned about Audrey Hepburn using a needle to separate her eyelashes after putting on mascara. I have three daughters all born in the 1960’s and they used a baby diaper pin to do the same thing! It always freaked me out that they were doing that!!
"Bath in olive oil" just means adding olive oil to your bath water, not literally getting in a tubful of oil haha Same goes for that "Cleopatra bathing in milk" myth.
I’m watching this video right now, and my husband just said, “Ya know, it’s funny… because she’s got a classic look too.” 😂 I let him know that was on purpose. Lol
I'm a former model and just wanted to mention somethings. Olive oil in the US cannot be used as it's almost certainly not made of olives, or at least not the quality of oil claimed on the label. Also, I have really bad acne and as much as I hate the way we source it petroleum jelly has worked wonders for me. I mix it with aloe for an after shower lotion and then I'll use it straight twice a day making sure to give it time to soak in before applying anything else or going to bed.
Thank you for letting us know what products you are using, what works for you and for getting us a deal. I look forward to your videos! There are only a few I can say that about.
You are beautiful! I have been using different things on my skin and considering buying a dermaplaner! I have experimented with sunscreen! I recommend Suntegrity! It has a light tint that looks nice. I used to use witch hazel. It did not do much for me. I swear by squalene oil. It helps seal in day or night cream.
Carol Lombard was in really bed car crash in the 30s, she had scar on left side on her cheek, she came up with a remedy to to disquise it, reduce the look of the scar👍 so she was ahead of her time invented contouring, as you said, very good😢
My mom was taught when young to wash her face with warm water and seal it up with cold water, like you had mentioned here, because it closes the pores after opening them up with the warm/hot water. I therefore was taught to do the same and my sons do the same too. Not sure how true it is though. haha.
My granny told my mum, she in turn told me the same. At 96, my granny still had beautiful skin, my mum looks amazing in her early 70s, and, if I may say so, people take me for at least 10 years younger than I am, often more!
I've been doing Audrey Hepburn's eyelash/ mascara trick for years! Except I don't use a needle, I use tweezers, and I don't separate every eyelash, just the large clumps 😃
Just starting video!! Excited!! Wondering if you will mention Caster Oil!! my roommate, close to my age, 47 she is… Has started using castor oil on her face after she applies her other serums after cleaning her face. It locks and all those other serums. Swears by it! Ok, on w the show! ❤😂
When I lived in the Middle East I would never towel myself dry after a shower. I would use a damp face washer which I had squirted with some "baby oil" and use this to dry my body. It left a very, very slight layer on my skin which then always looked glowy.
I have a skin condition called itchthyosis vulgaris and I soak my scalp in olive oil just to get soon relief from the dryness. Very interesting for that to be a beauty hack too!
I have been shaving my face for a few years for the same reason, I hate how much peach fuzz I have. I have also been using a needle on mascara since I was a teenager, I did poke my my only once about 30 years ago.
This is a little trick I learned from my mum years ago....if you forget your lippy while out on the town, get your teeth to rub against your lips.... circulation redder lips, I would always be asked what lipstick you wearing from my friends lol and I always had my lipbalm just applied it over😂🤫
My make up vanity is also my sewing desk lol so one side is all make up and the other side is sewing stuff. It’s nice to be able to pop open a drawer and grab a pin to separate my lashes. I’ve been doing it for over 20 years, not every single lash, but just a few that might get a little stuck together. A lot of people actually do this!
When I though out one of my old mascaras, I saved the applicator brush. I cleaned it and now I use it to separate my lashes after applying my mascara. ~ Heather ~
Please don't shave your face ladies! Get it waxed instead. Shaving thickens and multiplies hair, regardless of what they say. If you have light colored peach fuzz, it's not as noticeable but I have tested it on my arms and armpits. My armpits, which I would shave regularly, I had waxed a few times and was amazed with how drastically different it was, thin and much less hair! I have dark brown hair and have some excess hair growth on my face (ie, mostly upper lip and chin) and still would never shave, as I know my body would not handle it well. Please don't shave your face ladies. Try waxing it instead. It makes a much better appearance. Trust me ❤️
Oh honey, no, that is a myth that it grows back darker or thicker and faster! That has been disproven long ago. Waxing the face can cause ingrown hairs and inflammation. I’ve been derma blading my face for 10 years now with absolutely no difference in hair growth at all, and I have a pretty fuzzy face!
@@gwengwen4535 that's good to know. Thank you. Maybe it's better for most ladies than. I had known a girl who has Hirsutism and you could tell she shaved her chin and neck because of thick stubs you could see 😬 Maybe it's a matter of what works best for certain people. 😊
Thank you for the "buccal" comment!!! In veterinary medicine we use the long u. But in the dental industry they all say "buckle" and it makes me cringe every time lol.
The bathing in olive oil makes sensr. Since it contains squaline, which is known by dermotoligists to slos down aging. Plus soaking dyed hair in olive oil, lighens hair colour due yo thr hyfogen paroxide in olive oil.
When I could take a bath I would put baby oil in there and just soak I use to have soft skin the bath tubs now are to small and can't get out of the tub
Witch hazel is what my mom used. There is a brand at the drug store and probably at Ulta called Thayers. It has been around since 1847. They make a Facial Mist as well and it comes in different light fragrances. It is aloe vera and is alcohol free. I've used two different blushes. Most people probably would use a blush and bronzer instead but it's about the same thing. They didn't use bronzers back in the day. Pulling the hair back is not bazarre. These days you can buy the clips that pull the hair from the face tightly to create a facelift and I'm sure Hollywood uses that method still. These things that the stars did in the day is not unusual. Olive oil is great for many things. I have used it in my hair when it is dry and I do the same with Coconut oil sometimes. I would bathe in olive oil. It's good for you.
There's a traditional Aryvedic (Indian science) way of bathing with oil. Apply an oil of your choice, on your body, ( you can use olive oil) using upwards strokes towards the heart. Wear slippers, turn your shower on the hottest to create steam. Then sit on a little stool in your shower soaking in that steam for 15 minutes breathing deeply. Now, shower as you normally would. With slightly cool water for your head, and medium to warm water for your body.
Eek ahh no thanks.Crazy what they did. Has anyone seen Kate Winslet advert think it might be Loreal....removing her make up, what she says knocks it on the head❤ they used to melt wax for mascara....yes before Maxfactor came along for the movies.
W😃W. Much less dramatic but as a youngster, I watched a relative take a match to her black eyeliner pencil + use it on her bottom water line which made it very black. 😊
Marilyn Monroe also famously shaved her face. I think it was actually pretty common among young starlets back then. I'm currently in SEAsia and it's a common thing here as well. I actually started doing it myself after my first visit here a decade ago. There's something very satisfying about seeing all the dead skin and fuzz that comes off when you do it, and the skin feels great afterwards. You have to be careful though because it's easy to cut yourself if you don't know what you're doing. Also you should never ever use a regular men's razor to shave your face as a woman. I personally use those little "eyebrow razors" because they're easy to control and give great results.
Wow. I've sort of dropped off of these videos, they've become commercial ads. It feels like Angie is coming up with videos topics Around her sponsors. I don't like that at all. Sneaking in a 5-10min (!) ad mid-video, is also terrible. I prefer when a podcast is just real with you & does an ad-break. This "casual" working-it-in feels icky in some way.
Once a youtuber becomes famous they are crowded with social media advertisers. So, it's quite natural for them to turn from originality to ...it's only if the youtuber consciously declines such offers, they'll be able to retain their people. Otherwise, it's like cutting the hen that lays golden eggs. 😂
For decades, I have used (and still do use) a safety pin to separate my eyelashes if they’re too clumpy.
Love your Old Hollywood look today Angela! These types of videos are so fun..thank you!
I love love love all of these “back in the day” videos you’re doing! Keep ‘em coming! 😍
Enjoyed. They were all so beautiful.
Will you please do a hair tutorial? You’re hair always looks phenomenal!
Thank you! I was also taught the pronunciation is bee- you- cal fat in nursing school .

Petition for you to do ‘conspiracy videos’ 🙋🏼♀️😂😂😂😂 I’d love to see you put on your tin foil hat and get your take on different historical events
So glad to see you today!!!
Angela, you’re so naturally funny! Thanks for all of the laughs! - Melissa

Castor Oil is also recommended for eyelashes ❤

Jhonson's baby oil gives cancer.
@@misbahailia3345ño it doesn't.🙄
Omgoodness I’m dying about the derma-planing and nicking the eyebrows 😂😂😂😂😂
So have done it

The vintage Hollywood look is very tasteful on you!
I use an eyelash comb that is metal,
And it works!! Also I derma plane my face on a regular basis, it is part of my skin care routine ❤
Ordered the wrinkle bluring thing 🙌🏽. Hope it works 😅
As a photographer and editor…. Yep I’ve used the red in the inside corner of the eye trick on models.

What color lip are you wearing?! I also have red hair very similar to yours and it is hard to find a red lip I really love ❤️
My mother taught me the mascara trick too. I never had the patience for it
Thanks for posting @angelabraniff have a wonderful weekend ❤
Great video
My mother and aunt used a needle 🪡 every application 😂
That’s is funny. I’ll have to ask my mom ab that 😄
I sometimes use an eyelash separator comb.

How did you shave your face????

If u did use cosmetics i would only use frangrance-free...simply can't find products like this. Does city beauty company make a perfume?
Lisa Eldridge has a video deep dive into Marilyn Monroe’s makeup and it’s 100% worth the watch
I had a roommate in college that separated her lashes with needle every morning.
Love this video and didn't watch it yet! Hahahaha
I always put oil in my hair. It works.
Yes!!! And a weekly deep conditioning hair mask I do so good in the fall & winter especially and color treated hair is a must gir it

Bathing in olive oil sounds EXPENSIVE 😂
What happened to Nivea body crème.
What do you mean what happened to it?! I use Nivea creme every day. Comes in a big blue tub. Best stuff ever!

That's why we have a full body oil massage every once in a week and bathe in warm water.
