UA-cam has everything. I searched this information just as a lark --- I do need to install one, but I didn't think there would be one. By George, I think I've got it now, at least it looks easy-peasy. But with do-it-yourself projects, there's always a snag somewhere. Thanks for your excellent video; you showed and explained everything, step-by-step.
Thanks for the video. My dad basically has the same setup, but with the fancy handles. I was either gonna replace the spring inside or just the entire setup because the latch won't stay catched because the spring isn't holding the side out anymore. My issue is I can't get the damn thing off. I think this handle has been on there for about 15 years so maybe that's why. Or that spring part in the middle is just broken in a way that it won't let me pull the two handles off of both sides of the door. I guess I'm just gonna have to put some elbow grease in
That’s the problem with working with old stuff. It’s hard to fix because it’s usually corroded as rust on it and then end up having to drill out the screws. Good luck on your project. Thanks for watching.
Random question would i be able to put the button inside of the house and have the push handle outside? Just reverse the order of the handles? Do you think it would make a difference in how it works?
Yeah, whenever you start doing a project, there’s always gonna be something that doesn’t work right and then you’ve got innovate or figure out a way to make it work. Good luck thanks for watching.
Dudes, great video. Glad you kept the catch mistake, because we were sure to do it ourselves. Saved us. Thanks! Just one thing....um, I think you have the door installed backwards. Isn't the screen and spline supposed to be on the inside?
I ever thought of it that way most of the screen doors that I do have the spleen facing out but I could be wrong anyway anyway thanks for the kind words and thanks for watching
That’s how I do every single project because the experts show you in the perfect conditions how to do it I’m showing you how to do it in real life. I just make videos of me fixing stuff around my house for the first time I got a couple I tear apart my dryer and washing machine and I never did it before.
@@TomLeeman, It's cool to see your thought and discovery process. I think I get it now. I went through it with my screen door even following the instructions. I got to the end and my latch doesn't catch, because the door frame where the door fits in is the correct size, but the inner door frame where the latch attaches is too big. In the instructions it must've been assumed the inner and outer door frames were flush with each other, not the case with a home built screened in porch.

You bet good luck on your install and thanks for watching

This was very helpful, thank you.
You're welcome! good luck on your install and thank you for watching
Might be a dumb question but did you need a special drill bit for the door?
This is all aluminum so you need like a steel bit
I installed this exact handle and I have no idea what I did wrong. The push button sticks unless I untighten both screws.
Maybe some silicone spray would help or your spring is a little defective good luck thanks for watching
You can trim down the push button rod to adjust. Worked for me!
Take the handle off a widen the hole. It sounds like the spring is catching on something on the inside.
I JUST figured it out. The push button is upside down! You have to put it in correctly in order to utilize the push button to not get stuck
Thanks for the storm door installation tips
You’re welcome good luck on your project and thanks for watching
Everything good as well on mine but the button does not so spring right😮
Check the spring that you put on the inside and make sure that it’s working good luck thanks for watching
Thank you got it!

I guess you could do that, but then you can’t lock it from the inside
No you can’t do that because the latch handle has to be on the inside to catch the latch plate.
What is the brand of push button kit used? Thank you
Of this hardware came with the door that we purchased at Home Depot
@@TomLeeman thank you
