Where are you in Canada (province) and the civic shouldn't be, you can pick a running civic for 1000 or less. You probably won't get a base motor you can do up, but with some patients and hunting your can get a good base from auto Wreckers, it tougher now with inflation I hear you.. don't use your bank as reliable store of weath get real precious metals and crypto.

“Maybe you’re 6’3” reminds me of the time I saved and saved, finally got home from deployment, had a buddy drop me off at the dealership because I KNEW I was driving home in a Z4M. I get in (tried to get in) and immediately realized I didn’t account for my ability to fit in the car.
I never knew how adult males drove those things. Not because of style. But because you could put your arm out the window and touch the ground.

@@ROSEMILITIA For tall men the roof can be altered in the Mustang to accomidate your size as well as adjusting the seat. But it would require body work and welding. Or a Targa/T-top roof. But then again you still have to alter the roof.

Knowing what he was up to, my cousin was in the passenger seat and asked if I was going to race. I said no, just let this guy keep playing. Well, then the guy starts the whole, goose the throttle, back off, goose the throttle, back off. He finally annoyed me enough, and I tell my cousin to hang on. The next time he dropped back I downshifted to 3rd and dropped the hammer. I pulled on him hard, grabbed 4th, still pulling, grab 5th at 120. I look in the rear view and see him approaching, FAST.
I look at the speedo and I am at 130 and just at that moment he passed me like I wasn't moving. My jaw dropped, my cousin was like WTF was that? I simply said, that's one fast ass Civic is what that is. It is a memory that I will laugh at forever.

These are some great project cars! I actually have a NC MX-5 though and am extremely happy to have it, as a semi project car. Yes, it's not like a go-cart MKI or MKkII but it still handles brilliantly and I actually like the refinements.
Acura RSX's are pretty nice, small, light and suprisingly quick for what it offers. type S is obviously preferred but it's alright if all you can get is the base.

idea for number 8: a classic vw beetle, you can find them in almost every junkyard for cheap, they're simple, they have loads of aftermarket, the community isn't enormous but chill, and you can go almost every way, you can make it a time attack car, a rally car, a cross car, a Baja car and if you are feeling quirqy and have some skills with short wheelbase cars, drift it

I remember my mom had a mkIV golf, it was so fun to be in that car, she drove probably more than 2000 miles in that car before an accident that forced her to sell it, because repairing it meant dumping a lot of money in importing german parts (it was a german golf and we live in Argentina)

None of the 1990-1994 motors experienced crankwalk, as far as I'm aware. As for the 1995-1999 engines, I think it was a bit overblown. It apparently was only a problem during low oiling scenarios. I never had a problem with my '97 Eclipse although I disabled the clutch switch as soon as I was aware, as I hated the idea of putting pressure on the crank with zero oil pressure.

Helps to do your homework though, some mercedes are junk, some are bulletproof. Stay away from the cheap entry-level ones, ones that scream abused, and no air ride helps.

I had a mint 1994 325iS 5 speed when I was 21. I put it through 4 pieces of guard rail after losing control going through a turn. I still miss that car every single day, was amazing. Eventually got an E46 and just wasn't the same.
I picked up my first mk4 5speed jetta. Didn’t have any clue what I was getting into. Was just looking for something for going back and forth to work. Probably will never turn it into a project car, but I wanna really take care of it and make it pretty again. I think they’re really cool looking old cars. Seem reliable as hell too.

Another good things about the foxbody is that fitting large engines is much easier than 1st gen Mustangs, which are close I'm weight. I used to have a 460 in my 84, different mounts and bolts right in

A $1k 944 is called a “part car”.
They're hyped up so much as "the cheap project car" recently that they've gone up in value so much in a few years.
I have a friend with one. It's a great cruiser, very comfortable. It certainly isn't fast, and corners like a soft 80s car. What it has though it lots of character.
And half the parts on the 944 are vw.
@@fastinradfordable they're mostly similar to VW but their parts are 3x the price. Just take a look at door handles for example: mk2 VW handles ~$15, Porsche 944 door handles ~$50 and they're literally the same except Porsche ones are either a different color or have Porsche scripted on them

I got a dirt cheap mini r53 and I’ve had a really easy time finding parts. Yeah they’re super leaky and stuff tends to fail, but if you can find one with lower mileage that’s been taken care of then you’re set. There’s also a lot of online support for k-series and 2jz swaps. Honestly one of the funnest cars I’ve driven

I'm 6'4. My first project car was a '64 Valiant. With a 340 V8 and a 4-speed, that car weighed only 2870 lbs, which was about 90 lbs less than my buddy's 327 Vega. Terrible stock brakes, but with some parts juggling I was able to swap to 11.8" front disc brakes from a '70 Imperial. Had to get custom-made headers done up, though, there isn't much room between the fenderwells.
6'3 and I've owned three NA Miatas. never felt cramped...
I had a 96 Civic with a 5-speed, I once accidentally forgot to put the cap back on after doing an oil change, I drove 20 miles before I even realized, never overheated. I loved that thing, they eat up the abuse

Former DSM owner here. The crankwalk mentioned in this video was only prevalent in the 2nd gen DSMs with the much maligned "7-bolt" version of the 4G63 2.0L engine. This was encountered mostly in 95-99 models, from what I recall. The older, 1st gen DSMs with the "6-bolt" 4G63 didn't have this issue, and so MANY 2nd gens had 1st gen engine swaps. The more you know. *ding*
My uncle is 6’4 250lbs and I’m 6’1 210 and we got a Miata project car. Managed to put a 5.7 V8 Hemi we ripped from a Dodge and cram it in that tiny car. Fun as all hell to drive. Even funnier that 2 big dudes driving it
The bundles ad is honestly the greatest ad ever made hands down!
The Crown Victoria. You can't walk outside without tripping over one, the parts are practically free, and it has, possibly, the most reliable engine ever made. And mods are everywhere, because it's basically a four door mustang. I've owned 3 and raced them all, until Chicago winters turned the frame to dust.
I think a huge part of why those aren't as popular with these car guys as other cars like the Civic, Mustang, and Miata is because of the auto:manual ratio. I've been looking around for a manual Crown Vic and there's very few around, at least where I live.
I have a retired patrol car 2010...they are slow and the transmissions were pretty weak. The other factor is when you are driving around town trying to get someplace the person in front of you does 35 in a 45 because they get paranoid. It kinda sucks
@@pawa303 they never made manual Crown Victorias. I think you can put in a Mustang transmission but no Crown Vic is manual stock.
Crown Vics have inflated over the years in Ontario, Canada. I myself own a Grand Marquis which I bought years ago but any low mileage panther platform car in good shape can run 6-10+k

A fun set of facts about my dad and his 92 Talon:
1. He is the reason Chrysler made it in Turquoise Blue Metallic. That color was only available on the Eclipse, but he liked the black top that the Talon had, so he annoyed some guy at Chrysler SO MUCH that they started making it Turquiose Blue Metallic and he got the second one made (the first was a showcar and he didn't want it because someone put a hole in the dash).
2. It was the very last 6 bolt car. Mitsubishi made a few changes to the 4G63 effective the second week of April of 1992. The changed motor was known as the 7 bolt (supplanting the 6 bolt). The 7 bolt motors were the ones that experienced crankwalk. This wasn't intentional, it just happened.
3. It had 315k miles on it and the motor has never been rebuilt, but it was customized by the Archer Brothers who raced the factory Talons in the SCCA World Challenge Series. It dynoed last year at 543hp across all four wheels.
4. It was the car that brought me home from the hospital and my dad REFUSED to sell it after I was born despite how hard it was to put a carseat in. My first memory of life is being in a rear facing carseat in the back of the Talon and watching rain drip down the rear glass.
5. It was in The Fast and the Furious. In the chase scene when the Supra and the Charger were chasing the motorcycles, when Brian slides the Supra sideways to shoot, you see the Talon stop in front of it.
6. The first time I drove it on the road, I had just gotten my license, I had a lot of parking lot miles on it, but this was my first road experience in not just it but a manual car in general. My dad was in the passenger seat, we were stopped at a light and an early S197 Mustang pulled up next to us and started revving. My dad looked at the Musrang, then at me and said "Don't lose." I was terrified I was gonna stall it, but I didn't, I SMOKED him.
And all these cars just got their price raised a good 1000$-2000$ just cause of this video

I had an '86 944 as my first car. Got it at 18 for $4300. I had the thing for 7 years and maintained it on a college kid budget, and honestly it wasn't even that bad. It was harder finding insurance than maintaining it. Such an awesome car.
