    I’ll give you a quick rundown of how i got into drifting, i always liked cars but never really wanted to learn manual or work on them or whatever they were just fun to look at. I got rear ended in my Jetta and it was totaled, i got 5 grand for a new car and i bought a 5 speed Miata and learned how to drive standard. I was driving with my friend trying to do a donut and he told me to clutch kick, i did it and the rear end kicked out and i counter steered and held it for a second and spun out, i looked at him mouth open and said i want to do that forever, currently saving for a drift car so i can actually get some seat time

    would you be interested in making a video like this for getting into trackdays, I appreciate drifting and enjoy your related content but it's not something I'm looking to take up and I suspect maybe a chunk of your subs feel the same (just guessing, you will know better than me).
    However I'd love to get into track days but I have literally no experience, not even a passenger seat lap. I know this is a bit of a selfish request but the format of this video was awesome, literally a duplicate of the video with a different subject would be perfect!
    Regardless keep up the good work, Drifting/Honda/BMW/anything related or not!

    Nice to hear some love for the mx5! I'm 6ft2" with a removable wheel with a standard seat and I fit fine. Tho I have done the "fomosectomy" on my seat. Mx5 guys should know what that is. But another great video dude, looking forward to more Dc2 vids

    • @dannyDC2
      @dannyDC2  7 років тому

      You're going to have to tell me what fomosectomy is... :)

    • @archieroku4534
      @archieroku4534 7 років тому

      Its basically just taking certain foam sections out of the standard seat. A few guys do it to help the taller driver gain a bit of room. I only removed part of the back foam which allows me to sit deeper back into my chair. It made a noticeable difference to my seating position, and probably one of my best mods to be fair. Hope that makes sense. Oh and I spelt it wrong, its "Foamosectomy"

    What people forget to mention that you'll also need a van or decent tow car, a trailer, tools, etc, etc, which cost a lot of money to even own, tax, MOT, etc.
    Especially the tow car and trailer are going to cost you a lot of money in tax, insurance, etc. And all that just to get into drifting.

    Hey Danny, count me in that 5%. I hear you loud and clear and I like the idea of drifting. ;o) You're a hell of a circuit driver (big fan of your Nurburgring work) and you're picking up drifting pretty quickly, too. Looks like you're havin' a fookin' blast! I know next to nothing about drifting, but your video was well done and got me eager for more. Not sure if you mentioned, but what tire setup are you using for drifting? Is their a preference for really hard compound for the rears and soft for the fronts (or is my thinkin' way off)? Love your videos on this side of the pond, man. Keep 'em coming! Oh yeah, give a shoutout to my new friend, Pete. LOL! Cheers!

    • @fuolku1006
      @fuolku1006 6 років тому

      (I know im answering a year ago)
      Yes hard compound for rear and front is your own taste (why hard compound in rear is because hard compound = less grip = drifts easyer and hard compound wears out slower! So tires last longer

    Great video Dan - so glad you explained about letting the wheel go. When I watched your first video, I was going to advise it but didn't want to tell you to suck eggs. You've got to let the car do the hard work, and you just need to work the throttle.

    You should get an is, seeing as your still in the buy every car stage of life. I have had e30, e36 and own a is300. The beams engine swap would be cheap and fun. Mine came with a 2J NA, but will put the turbo motor in eventually. All of the cars have different feels but you can beat the is way more then the bmws. With suspension mods is feels very much like a slightly lighter e36.

    What do you think requires more skill, track driving or drifting?

    • @dannyDC2
      @dannyDC2  7 років тому +1

      Well I'm still learning the skill of drifting, so I can't really say. There's a lot more danger involved when driving on track I think, getting it wrong can be fatal, you don't feel the same fear when drifting so I'd say it's easier to pick up. That or, maybe I just got over the fear with my previous experience on track. Tough question! That'd be a good one to use in a Q&A...

      what do you mean, register?

      Jesus Carbajal In the US, no, not if you're planning on never letting it see street. Registering and such is mainly for the DMV and local PD to keep track of who has what where on the road, so they can be traced to any road-based crimes or unfortunate whatnot happening. Since this car won't be on the street to begin with, it doesn't need that. Have fun modding and sliding, stay safe out there

    How old do you have to be to start drifting

      Not sure about the UK, but in the US, you can start learning to drift at age 12. Check out Drift101. I'm 37. I'd like to learn, but I live in Australia. No such thing as a cheap drift car over here.

    So...i moved from the UK to Germany 2 years ago. Turns out their selection of cars is quite shite. Powerful models are much rarer as they seem to favour the economical engines....
    I've been looking for an e36, but finding a 323 seems incredibly hard. The price they ask for them is also ridiculous, budget drift cars they are not (in Germany).
    So i've been looking at the e36 318.... more common, but still not so cheap. Worth a buy for a budget drifter?
    Maybe its because im up north in Hamburg but i am beyond disappointed with the car scene & used car market here in Germany. Totally not what I expected.
