I gave some of your games to my editor as well. Check out his video here: ua-cam.com/video/1KOJ8EQctoM/v-deo.html 😊
We would be very happy if you could play our game Moose around ! :D yrgo-game-creator.itch.io/moose-around
Please say fog more :)
I am a 17 y.o and made a metroidvania game, try it : "Dora Diginoid "
I would watch a whole episode of "I Photoshop Your Games" 😝 It's honestly just as interesting as watching you play the games. The feedback about art style, lighting, drawing attention to the right features, it's super valuable!
Thank you so much for the feedback. I have removed the first level because so many people(based on data from unity analytics) quit the game before even entering the open world.
Everybody leaves my game in the tutorial? Solution: remove the tutorial. Yeah... high level gamedev
@@knightlon @Knightlon Did you even read my comment? I have removed the first level not the tutorial
@@knightlon who hurt you
Ajay bhai ye bhi bata do aapne unity ads lagaya ya admob
Hey it’s their game. The can do what they feels is best to improve the quality.
Thank you very much for playing Star Sign and taking the time to give such great feedback! Very helpful!
I haven't played the game yet but from Jonas's footage one criticism I would give is the camera. The camera clipped into a lot of objects when moving it around, maybe have a shader or something that fades objects out if the camera is inside of them. Another thing is that the camera looks to be orbiting around the crosshair, not the character, so it's sorta got a weird perspective.
Some inspiration you may use.
For art direction, I recommend you take a look at Grow Home, it is very similar in its design.
Secondly, for the grapple mechanic, look at Just Cause 2's grappling hook and how the grapple icon will snap to edges when your crosshair crosses over, so that your aim does not need to be 100% accurate.
@@tac_caliber Thank you for the suggestions! Definitely need to do the fadeout shader. And the camera does orbit around the player but with a slight offset upwards. To get the camera right is a little challenging because the player is so small and so close to the ground I think :) Thanks for the feedback!
@@Waffles_Syrup Grow Home is actually one of many inspirations I have for the game. Thank you for the suggestion on Just Cause! I'll take a look at that :)
Any chance you could do a Linux build? With WINE it doesn't display any of the menu text. Is there a way to configure the input? I'd like to use a gamepad if I could. Looks beautiful though.
Glad you enjoyed Beans on Chain! The feedback is much appreciated!
Use 31:58 as the main theme and guaranteed GOTY(?)
That is a tough game, especially when playing alone. I very much appreciate that you included a Linux package. Works great, looks awesome. I'm really starting to love itch given that I can download free stuff without having an account.
Thanks so much for playing Poly Vita! Appreciate the feedback! Super helpful!
I guess it wasn't obvious that you can zoom in using the scroll-wheel.
Also, definitely need to fix that weird walking bug, never seen it freak out like that lol
( you missed level 6 btw )
I loved Monument Valley and have been looking for another game like it! This one seems to fit the bill. Did you take inspiration from MV? I love the aesthetic that both of the games had.
@@junemck.5531 Yeah Monument Valley was definitely one of the bigger inspirations! Make sure to wishlist on Steam to get notified when it comes out!
the path bug was so funny atleast
I think when you screenshot and photoshop scenes to make them look better is such a great thing. Play testing feedback is always good when o visually show how a game could look better to me is priceless.
➤ As you sent me so many games I gave TheShelfman some of your games for testing as well. Check out his video here: ua-cam.com/video/1KOJ8EQctoM/v-deo.html
Howdy
Uh, lemme think of a good comment

Only people who have played will you snail can subscribe to ancrobot
The interactables in that painting styled game were like that on purpose. It mimics old style hand drawn cartoons where objects to be animated were drawn over the background and looked different. You can always tell if something is about to be moved in an old cartoon cause it looks more "crisp".
Thanks again for sending me some games to play too!
Poly vita looks like a really cool puzzle game btw. Will definitely play that sometime!
On the star sign game there is some indication of what you can grapple onto (I'm not sure if you noticed and I've missed where you said), the aiming crosshair in the centre gets bigger when you are pointing at something you can grapple to I believe.
If he didn't notice I guess it could be made more easily noticeable?
@@GamePhysics yeah true
That recoloring of Freeway Fiasco was lovely! Most of the time developers dont go the extra mile for polishing but you showed them the potential! Kudos!
I really enjoy when you do these, watched the whole thing when I woke up this morning. I especially love that you take the time to fix things up in photoshop to really show them what you're talking about. You do amazing work, and you are a big source of inspiration for me, keep it up man!
I just finished Will You Snail and it was AMAZING. I loved it so much even though I was dying every second. Thank you so much for such a great game.
Great Stuff as always jonas! You really help to inspire us game developers in every way possible. keep it up
best series, thanks for making it! your becoming really good at reviewing games, been binge watching your series lol
i like the line about the V mirror. keep that in.
Amazing vid! And great job helping people out with the coloring, coloring can be very hard
I really enjoyed watching these. Most of these indie games look great and I'll definitely be checking them out on my own! Also liked the constructive feedback, some good advice there on getting a better feel for the game!
Jonas : I don’t make text heavy games
Will you snail : excuse me?
the editing is so smooth :O
The monster design on that witch thing for the “there are more things” game is super cool and unique
This is a great concept for content. I wish more people would make these.
i love the blade sound you added! even funny mouth sounds are better than no sounds.
5:50 Really great explanation! I like the idea for both the visuals and gameplay wise.
Personally i prefer the first game's look to how you photoshopped it
You can tell that the art and sound style for Poly Vita was heavily inspired by Monument Valley and for fair reason! It really suits the game and makes it really pleasing and relaxing to play.
A thing Star Signs' developer could do is provide extra friction and gravity on platforms for a little bit of time after the player has landed - could make it easier to go onto platforms, I guess.
Also, the grass could definitely have a 'seperate out' animation when the player character walks into it, since... it is too small!
A solution to *try* for the gradient problem: based on the player's angle relative to something, so for example, if the player is _below_ a platform floating in the sky, the platform's TOPMOST height should be taken into account, and if that point in height is in the fog's range, it could be shaded completely with fog.
Ia slo agree with Jonas on the puzzle design suggestion - big puzzles with small units that could be "divided and conquered" would be much better to deal with. You could even end up connecting various units so they would depend on each other, which could make those puzzles where you do something in a unit to complete it, but have to come back to change something in it to pass through the very next unit.
20:30 usually when games have flavor text like this they require input from the player, like you walk by something, it indicates you can interact with it usually with a "look" prompt, and then it gives you the text, otherwise the text box doesnt pop up. And there's usually some indication if its important to story like it being highlighted when you walk near.
the way you critic the game it always remind my senior developer suggesting in my project HAHA.
Missed you!!!
Great series
Noo, don't stop the music in the first game, it was so nice. :(
maybe you could do a series where you go back to te games that you have givin feedback and see what have been inproved
Wow that was really cool
The fact you sponsored your own game was hilarious
This is content heaven :)
how do you choose which games to play , do you organise some polls or what is the procedure to submit games?
Love this series, i am making a game right now and i am releasing a demo on steam soon, i hope you will be able to check it out possibly in the next video. Keep up the great work!
Good vid!
HE IS BACKKKK
Some very cool games, I especially liked Freeway Fiasco, its a shame it broke soo early
Freeway Fiasco reminds me a bit of Does Not Commute
Lessgo! Love these videos
1:25 I swear I heard "I like that there's some fuck" lmao
Same
Any chance you could do one of these based on peoples' GMTK jam games? If so, could you try my team's game, Cow Capture?
thank you jon
Jonas video! Yay!
It can be hard to follow the short sweet brainteaser puzzle design. I recall one puzzle from will you snail that took a lot of jumping around to get the bridge to come out when you got to the top. Can't remember which level it is, one of the secret levels and I felt the puzzle had a bit too much going on in the same vein that you described here.
Yeah, that's certainly true.
Please make more videos like these
So iv'e decided to do a playthrough of your game
Remember to have a lot of people try your games. Not just youtubers. Professionals can give objective answers, but never single out their subjective answers. And I think game developing is an artform that is heavily influenced by our subjective nature
* That doesn't mean that Tyroller is not being subjective also. For instance, in the first game he's comparing graphical styling. Instead of saying, "It looks inconsistent", he says "That looks nice -- that's meh -- and that doesn't"
Then Minecraft looks terrible, but that doesn't mean it's a bad design choice. Perhaps it is perfect. If I would advice anything to Tyroller, it would be to remind the audience, that he's also just an individual. And be careful how and when subjective judgements are expressed.
The statements sometimes sounds very factual, rather than a gut intuition.
Interesting. So that first game looks like its crumble but the main character has limbs. Its a platformer that doesnt have much story, and you just kind of go forward while grappling to make it to the end. Sure, this has more verticality, but maybe there's a reason that crumble doesnt have verticality. Maybe not, im no expert... yet.
Thought on Star Sign:
It really, REALLY wants to be more about a gummy, elastic character. You should grapple with a long, sticky arm and slingshot with both hands planted on the dirt so you can back up and release in a direction.
The name and concept should be around that, not star sign.
33:00 there would have been an easy fix, an eeeaassyy fix! 😂
Somehow, I thought, that you will fall into healing coma, but clearly, I was wrong...
18:18 I would like to second that. add some depth to it and you could have something that would sell on the graphics alone.
Why you don't make any videos about your snail game anymore? You worked on it for years and then published it and now nothing, it's like it never existed before!
I'd guess he's a little burnt out at the moment and is taking a break. It does feature in an add segment in the middle of the video.
how do you get your game played?
These games, that are made by other people, look so much fun to play! We were going to continue on developing our indie game, which is Subnautica 3, but as a horror game, called: Eternal Inception, like what we said before, on a previous video of yours.
14:31 Ah, the classic mouse-"tap" on mobile ports
Star sign shows when you can grapple with the cursor though, doesn't it?
Part 3 maybe?
🥺
👉🏻👈🏻
Hey Jonas, would you play and review Smashball? I will send you a Steam key if you want :)
How do you make such good videos Jonas lol I cringe at mine so much
Just practice! His old videos are really goofy and honestly a little cringe occasionally but he kept going and he's gotten so much better at it! Just keep going and don't give up!
Can you review Escape From School on Steam?
1:03 broo whatt the cross hair literally changes colour😭😭what u talking bout no feedback 😭😭😭
24:59
This is a lot like the game "Does Not Commute".
28:48
And this is like "Knuckles Chaotix"
I think it's funny that I know of both the games you're talking about and can see exactly why you say that.
I want to send my game ,but i don't know when I need to send it.Jonas, please next time announce this on channel's comunity post, bcz I do not have time to check Discord or Twitter due to university obligations :(
I want to submit my metroidvania game "Dora Diginoid" , when is that possible ? Thanks !
Jonas ur game is amazing!! But as much as I would like to play it I can't afford it :P . But everything from the art to voice lines is amazing! :)
How you made your games
It would be fun to watch streamers play Wys. On mobile :smirk:
cursor turns white when can be garbed
Where do I request to send a Game?
wtf why didn't youtube remind me that you uploaded a new video :(
Your videos are very nice, could you give some tips on how to grow on UA-cam as a game developer? Please and thank you!
Probably you need some P A R T I C L E S
@@unitysparticlesystem Unity's particle system made by my long lost brother, Dani!
He has already covered it, it's call 'how to youtube | for game developers'.
It is pretty good, don't be intimidated by the video length. The important stuff is said at the start, the rest of the video is reviews of other people's channels in the same style as this video.
@@jaredcramsie182 Oh, really thanks!
Oh no I didn't submit our game in time 😐
One day i hope you will take a look of the game, i will make ❤️
Please play my game Ballfrog!
Thanks Jonas :) Your tips and insight have been priceless for all the years I have been carrying on as a gamedev. I would really appreciate if you can check out my upcoming game that was done in 20 months with 0 initial gamedev experience :) Name of my game is Timewell: Trail of Celestes (Steam PC). Cheers 😊
I did Not hit herr, i did Naotttt , Oh Hi Mark!
I am a 17 y.o and made a metroidvania game, try it : "Dora Diginoid " .
Im a game dev developing my first game called occupation: the final world
I really like how you pronounce the word fog xD
Im allways too late for these :(
bruh, it's not obvious to you how a slingshot works? dude hasn't been outside
its particularly interesting when Jonas says “fog”
we all like how he says fock ... fog*
are you from germany?
yes :)
My games are WebApps run in APK by a java
I don't agree with your second and third photoshop edit. In the second it wasnt obvious that it was bad weather anymore and the third just made the game look very generic, but maybe its better for the actual experience, idk, since I didnt play it.
