Hey, I hope you enjoyed the video. Here are some common questions that usually come up with this format: *Will you do this again?* Yes. *How can I send you my game?* I announce these videos a week or two beforehand together with instructions on how to participate. The best way not to miss the next application phase is to join us on Discord (link in description) and grab the @PingMeForAnnouncements role. :) *When will do this again?* I don't know. I'd assume in a few months maybe? Depends on how much you smash that like button. :P *Where is the subscribe button? I really want to press it.* The subscribe button is the big red button right under the video. It's carrying the letters "subscribe", so you can't really miss it. WARNING! There is a common issue for people who are already subscribed. If you can't find the red button, that means you have to unsubscribe first. Otherwise subscribing won't work.
Nice - I think I’ll be ready to submit something next time! Not sure if it’s going to be at the level as these, but it’s my first one and it’d be good to get some feedback!
I mean, if your graphics is burned onto toast, your frame rate is only going to be as fast as you can stick bread on the toaster, so you might as well play with max graphics, right?
Just a tip if I were u I wouldn’t describe ur game as “short yet unique” in the steam description. It makes the buyer question how much content they are going to receive. There is no reason to say anything remotely bad about ur game in the description, and it’s not misleading to not say “short”. Obviously don’t lie, but there’s no reason for that to be in. Otherwise great video and game :).
Ye, and if you have a short amount of gameplay, try to take your main game mechanic and make it an infinite game mode. That way if they want more gameplay, they can get it and you don't have to make more story, unique levels, etc.
Jonas: 25:14 "But then, why am I a rocket and the enemies are squares" Also Jonas: Making a game where the player is a snail and the enemies are triangles/a floating emoji.
Oh yeah. My favorite game was that snail game, Will You Snail? It looked super polished, plus you’ve definitely never played it before just like everything else on the list. /s (though Will You Snail? looks great and I can’t wait until the full release :)
Agreed the game will you snail looked soo good and I would definitely subscribe to the creator of the game if they made a youtube channel to show progress to the game. Glad to see Jonas giving credit to other devolopers like the devoloper of will you snail.
300 mails? Ooph! That sounds overwhelming. You really got a great community! Some of the games also look very polished already. I'm impressed! 12:20 "Obviously I've never played this game, that's why I'm starting it from my IDE." That snail game looks weird. I don't know what the creator was trying to say with it. Guess I'll check it out when it's out ;P 18:15 Settlers of Catan vibes. 21:55 Du redest aber ziemlich übertrieben betont :D
Thanks for this vid! I completely redesigned my game sense you said "don't combine skill and puzzle." I decided to take out the skill part and after then I came with a much better idea that makes the game actually unique and enforces more memory and puzzle-solving from the player.
In germany we call people like Jonas "Ehrenmann" thank you Jonas for your Videos many of them helped me to improve my game idea and I wish that one day I can defeat my depression and show you what I created.
Thanks Jonas for the time you take to play all these games and your willingness to always give detailed feedback!! Lots of interesting stuff & hopefully I will be able to apply a lot of the tips in this video to my game Tempered Flames as well.
I loved seeing Horde being shown off! I remember seeing the WIP shots during the jam and thinking "I'm gonna submit my jam entry but this game is gonna murder it." lol. It's such an awesome idea and definitely wanted to see it go farther. Also the "Will You Snail?" game looked like a lot fun; wonder where I've seen it before 🤔 It's awesome to see you play and critique games from other creators. My favorite part of the indie game dev scene has been the community and how really nerdy and cool most people are. Awesome video as always!
Awesome video Jonas!! Not surprised my game didn't get picked(after all Phagocytes was my first game ever XD). Keep uploading quality videos like these!!
Wanted to get my game ready to send, but I ultimately thought that the game wasn't really good enough to do so, since it was a 5 day game jam game. Anyway, great video! Many of the games are looking really good!
I didn’t send my game in time sadly, I hope I could do this next time, btw the video is great, more games in less time is much better idea then playing only 3 games in video.
I like these kind of videos whe you play other peoples games cuz you give them feedback and the person whos watching i think you give you give them encouragment to start there own game too
LOVE THIS CHANNEL! Thanks for doing this Jonas! Also when you talked about the puzzle-platformer game. It got me thinking... and then I realized I think Zelda Breath of the wild does this. Either you're solving a puzzle or you're doing something with combat.. never both at the same time though... maybe I'm wrong?
Daaammmnn am I the only one whose ears were completely destroyed in the screens where you showed the title of the next game by this super loud, super high pitched sound?
Wow these guys are so talented . I am working on some games but they do not look anything like these games . I do however have an idea for a game that I would like to see you take a shot at making . It is a post apocalyptic skateboarding game where you kill zombies with the blades on your customized skateboard . I do not want to sell myself short but I do not think that I am going to be able to make it . I got the idea from playing all of the Tony Hawk games but I have also played a lot of zombie games such as all the Resident Evil games , State of Decay , Left For Dead etc... so I thought why not combine the two I am sure that would sell however I can not make it so you guys can have that idea. I played a Metal gear solid game that is probably responsible for at least %20 of that idea .
Hello wonderful game devs! How do I express a character personality from animations? Personality traits such as lazy/relaxed, Hot headed trash talker, and someone pretending to be a normal cactus when actually being alive.
Feedback. The zombies should 'hoard' when you walk near other zombies. If they are alive, they should kill them and move on. Leaving the body for x time until it stands as a zombie. Instead of a blood spatter. they area attracted to noise. So make it a sound icon. If there were ways to split your zombies and leave them so you can get attention of police then make noise to call in the zombies from the opposite side.
1:22 this game needs a lot of thought around performance and it will be great, for starters maybe only the very first zombies have some logic, the others can be empty shells that just follow, also a manager that manages them all in 1 script, it looks like each of them have individual logic attached to them
For the second game what you could do is add some better complimenting colors. Lower the Saturation, use more contrast composition etc. Make the level borders more interesting
Wow, ur german is really good! How long have u been learning? As a former german, i almost though u were german from the beginning and just made a english channel ^-^

Can you remove the high-pitched whine in the neon transition screen?

What happened here? There was a huge quality increase from the last uploads - well done jonas!
Happy to hear that. Thank you. :)
I loved it too
Hey Jonas. I play on a toaster. Thanks for adding graphics settings to "Will You Snail?"
It really is an underated controller method
@@tobyk5091 Agreed.
WYS is not quite as toaster friendly as I'd like yet. Still working on it. I'll try my best. :P
As long as it's playable :P

Thanks for checking out My Beautiful Paper Smile!
Hi! I'm the dev for brainstormed, just to say THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! This was huge for me. :)
that game was crazy! definitely something I'd play while just chilling. The art is amazing!
@George Henry hey man just to say your a great help and i really appreciate all your doing. Keep it up man :)
@@theletterg2370 thanks!
It looks surreal. Is this going to be a ‘outer wilds’ type game where you explore the lore of this strange place.
The aesthetic was cool.
What was the game about?🤔
This is the UA-cam I like, Independent creators creating the universe. So much upgrade in Quality of games!🔥
The quality of the games you sent me this time was pretty insane indeed. Had a blast playing them. :D
I like how a little mistake like not leaving a space after period makes an URL

In the snowy game it would be cool to see a grapple to save yourself from sliding into water, or to climb obstacles!
Thank god there's another one of these! I live for this series. Keep up the awesome work Jonas!

I am in a vacation of game dev watching anime....one piece .....how could I Miss a video of this legend......I remembered when you was 5.6k subs
Very cool that my friend Nick's game made it in (Rift World)! It's getting constant work done and the current build is pretty nice!
You know that feeling when you sweat the whole video waiting to hear what's he going to say about your game and your game doesn't appear.

I would recommend putting a little compass on the screen to tell the player were to go.
Great video. Not only you tested the games you enhanced a couple of them :)

Couldn't help noticing when Jonas starting playing his game "Will you snail?":
Jonas: "You are a snail in this game"
Enemy AI: "Hello HUMAN!" :)
That sneaky plug in the middle ;)
All the games look awesome tho!
Could you make another episode? :)
That was some sneaky self-promotion Jonas 👀
I didn’t send my game in time sadly, I hope I could do this next time, btw the video is great, more games in less time is much better idea then playing only 3 games in video.
You didnt play Dwerve 😢 (Tower Defense RPG)
You misspelled defense, because I'm pretty sure your game doesn't revolve around respecting the towers. Love your tutorials by the way.
Ok lol
No way... Pixel Pete is here. I love your channel ❤👍
Love Adventure's style!
Wow, that self promotion was extremely subtle and worked amazing xD
My man really just turned into the hulk at 11:04
I am also very glad to be part of your team in Will You Snail! :D

I SWEAR U ARE AMAZING AND PHENOMENAL PERSON. SUPPORT U UNTIL I DIE🔥❤❤
Nice vid! Good stuff!
Your video just got a lot more interesting
NICE cant wait for more episodes :D
Perfect video to watch while eating lunch
The snail game loooks kind of difficult even to discover why the snail died so easily in your video.
And here I am being a huge fan of puzzle platformers.
The jump sound effect in adventure sounds exactly like a jump sound effect I made in a game. It’s crazy how similar it is.

Hello wonderful game devs!
How do I express a character personality from animations? Personality traits such as lazy/relaxed, Hot headed trash talker, and someone pretending to be a normal cactus when actually being alive.

There are two kinds of games that Jonas is very nice to. Games that are really good and well made, and games clearly made by kids.
