    36:36 I thought it was quite mature of her to say that she doesn’t trust herself to be civil in the moment. For the mum to stay despite and then get angry when the exact thing happened that Debbie wanted to prevent is kinda lost on me.

      @@rukashniazi3178 No, it's not, it’s a reason. I very much doubt that you've never in your life accidentally sworn - be that at someone specific or just in general.
      Not to mention it’s not the kid’s fault the mum decided to stay instead of giving her a minute or two, very well knowing that 1) there is not any parenting going to happen in that moment & in the kid’s current state and 2) that the situation was charged enough for the kid to become emotional enough to want to remove herself from the discussion to calm down. At least the kid had enough emotional maturity to want to shield others from her mood. To have willingly exposed herself to that regardless was entirely the mum’s decision. You wouldn’t follow around a colleague or friend who’s telling you they would like to pause an argument to regain a calm demeanour, would you?

    • @Xinnabst1
      @Xinnabst1 2 місяці тому +14

      I think that’s the point. Debbie needs to learn proper ways of dealing with and communicating with other people even if she doesn’t want to hear it. Iman wasn’t even saying or doing anything crazy. She was just trying to enforce her rules and show Debbie why it’s wrong to act as spoiled and selfish as she did, which definitely is not a good reason to lash out and cuss at someone, especially when that person has let you into their home, has fed you, treated you nicely, etc.
      Debbie basically freaked out whenever someone did or said ANYTHING she didn’t like and that’s just not a healthy way to live your life and it would be very hard to function in society with that kind of mindset too

    • @TVPMLP
      @TVPMLP Місяць тому +1

      Well the root of her issue is her incapacity to stay civil / composed in the first place. I don't think constructing an environment where people need to distance themselves from her when she is feeling these intense emotions would breed any healthy long term coping strategies for those emotions. I think the show did a good job of showing her progress of losing all emotionality and then synthesising the inappropriateness of her actions, and think about how she shouldn't be dealing with these situations as a zero-sum game (or winner takes all). While its great she recognises her emotional state, its not so great that she has no mechanism to self-soothe and mitigate these emotions, which will be necessary for her in life for difficult situations. I think the mothers reaction was perfectly fine as a result, as debbi herself needs to do the next step of self-soothing and controlling the emotions instead of what she most likely as been doing, which is avoiding them. (Also let's not forget theres probably a considerable language barrier between them, lashing out at people who don't understand any the emotions being expressed in words is not any better)

    The only discipline my mother taught me was when I was very young, from 7 to 12. She didn't educate me on anything past that age because she didn't have to. I was respectful of my own choice and didn't like drinking smoking and being loud either. 1st of all why would I get addicted to something that is bad for my health and requires me money? 2nd why would I drink? Alcohol tastes like crap, you need to go out of your way to wire your brain to like it, no thanks. I never liked noise so that is that. My mother is a calm and kind woman, and that also helped. But without a father, I always felt like one side was missing. As a boy, you can feel an element of darkness in your heart without one.

    Debby is a sweet girl, born innocent like all children. I'm sure she has loving parents, but even the most caring parents can sometimes struggle to instill the best morals. Often, these patterns are passed down through generations. I hope this experience brings clarity to Debby. While she may not be able to change her parents’ ways, perhaps she has learned something valuable to pass on to her own children, fostering a new approach to parenting. Wishing love and understanding to all families.
