My sleep position is same but without a formal mattress per say. I just filled in the low spots on the floor w small pillows then two exercise mats then I cut the foam out of old mattresses 2 layers equalling 9" of foam. Then I go round and round and round just like my dog do and settle in snug as a bug. I sleep better in my truck than I do at home.
Thanks for posting. I’m about to start my hotshot business as soon as I get my CDL license which it should be soon. Since I’ve been in trucking school I understand the importance of driving speed limit and have greater respect for semi drivers and people who obey the law. Your CDL license is your life and any violations can break a company.
Very smart guy. I did the same on my 2012 cascadia. I have a champion 4250 generator since my 5th wheel is enough far away from my cab, and a floor portable 9000 btu a/c, and I connect the ac exhaust in the passenger side window, in a piece of aluminum sheet that I cut molded same like the glass, but leave a hole in where I connect the a/c exhaust. We do what we have to do, to survive in this tough times...😉👍
My 8000 BTU Midea AC uses 150 watts on low and runs on a lithium battery and inverter that I can charge when driving or with a solar panel, total cost under $1000.
I have the Predator 2300 watt inverter/generator. Small enough to fit in my toolbox. Has 1 gallon gas tank that lasts 10 hours if it doesn't get to cold. Ain't got nothing for summer yet.
There used to be a company that made rear window Sleepers for pickup trucks just big enough to have a single bed inside. That and I'd love to see somebody actually put together some type of diesel Apu and a separate AC system allowing to disconnect the engine AC compressor to see what type of mile per gallon increase you would get. I'm willing to bet that set up would pay for itself in 2 years or better and be much better return on investment because of the reduction in where on the motor.
Cheers, mate! Great video! And yep, i have a 92 f350 crew cab......all the seats are gone (minus the driver seat😃) and i sleep diagonally...im only 5' 6"....couldn't imagine being 6'.
Most truck stops sell a 12v heated mattress pad that you sleep on. I have slept at down to -18° f. And I don't have an Arctic grade sleeping bag either. I haven't really figured out how to stay cool yet. Have a Milwaukee M18 fan but not really put it to the test yet.
How much do you tow with such added weight. Been Hotshoting since 2007 and 2016 still date i don’t idle much. In the winter i use 0 degree sleeping bag and in the summer i use a small twin blade rechargeable fan. I go anywhere in the lower 48 state and i hual 19000lbs in load my total wight is 40000 registered.
The GCWR on my truck is 40,000lbs. I just never exceed that weight. I could load 19,200 on my trailer if I chose to but I try to shy away from loads that heavy. Thanks for the comment.
Do you still have this unit? And do you think the ac unit could keep up with texas heat for a truck trying not to idle during the day? I have a job where I'm in the truck all day and idling is costing me a ton of money, do you think the unit could keep the truck, at least where I'm sitting in the seat, comfortable?
Of course. I love the unit. I still have it and still is going strong. If its 110 outside and you plan on using it in the blazing sun then you will need to cool the truck off inside with your truck ac for a few then throw on the unit. Otherwise it will take some time to cool the cab down but you will be comfortable for sure. This unit has saved me so much money and maintenance cost.
I was driving a ford f550 4x4 dually. Tha transmission was rough. After 6 different breakdowns, ford rebuilt the transmission. Barely 62,000 miles before rebuilt. The owner sold the truck. Now driving a dodge.
@@cokiea57 The dodge ram was a good truck. Unfortunately, a drunk driver plowed into it in the holiday in express parking lot. Insurance totaled the truck. Currently driving a 2023 chevy crewcab dually 4500 4x4. This is as nice and as smooth as the dodge, but very quiet. You don't hear the diesel unless you roll down the window.

Nice setup, I’ve hauled that exact same load before out of Elkhardt and the guy at the drop off location was a bit of an ass! @@gmstrucking155 us hotshot guys are a little less likely to have issues. We are 98% all highway. I also use the blue Def platinum helps clean dpf and scr. Never use Def from the pump very contaminated. When I was a Cummins tech most repairs were after treatment due to idling and poor Def quality.

I had this same question.... years ago dot didn't conside sleeping in the back seat big enough to get proper rest but it seems like they have slacked off on that these days !
My next video will go into more detail about the unit, but i can answer your question. If you allow the unit to intake from inside the cab it will exhaust your cold air out of the vehicle. Thank you for your comment!

Make sure you park in designated areas for campers and RVs and not truck stops since you invested to undercut the trucking industry. You are not a semi truck and have no compliance to use their resources.
@@TheGeorgenc40 not an opinion my compliance folder looks identical to an 18wheeler including IFTA not an opinion its actually a fact we can meet at a truckstop and compare ill show you the only place we save a little is in the rig price to start up maybe a slightly cheaper commercial insurance since the big rigs are more expensive so they carry a higher replacement value
