    If you are cdl hotshot you really need the sleeper. Cant say enough about Roadmaster. Buster is a great and puts out an excellent product. Have had mine for over a year and love everything about it. My wife and I sleep in it every night. We will sometimes be on the road 60 days straight. I would recommend quad cab. More room for a bigger fridge, etc and entry through rear doors much easier. But it is heavier. Of course, With that aux tank you are giving up 1000 lbs of cargo.

      @@Kaatu-barada-nikto The Fords are a nice truck. You can buy a ford with a roadmaster sleeper from battleground ford in Virginia. I believe you can finance the purchase as well. For the Ram, theres a dealer in North Carolina that will sell you a ram with the sleeper. For cdl hotshot, a Ram 5500 or a Ford F550 is the way to go. Better for towing all around, and not much more money than a one ton. Love my 5500 Laramie! Registered at 43k, and we are close to that on most loads.

      Freight pays better than cars. BUT theres not alwsys freight on the board. There are ALWAYS cars. I can haul both, but i end up hauling a lot of trucks on my flatbed. You cant compete with a 9 car hauler for average size cars. They go for about 50 cents a mile. But trucks and vans go for much more. $2.00 a mile isnt unheard of. And No tarp!

  • @133dave133
    @133dave133 3 роки тому +3

    I hotshotted with an F450 for a short while. If I were to do it again, I'd get a medium duty truck such as a Freightliner sportsmobile with probably a 13 speed. Pickups just don't hold up to the mileage. You're going to be getting single digit fuel economy also. That's a nice setup though don't get me wrong, but it'll never pay for itself in the long run. That truck will be worn out in about two years, and the resale value will be low. If you find 7 dollar frieght, not an issue. I loved LTL freight. If it paid the bills, I'd be back in a minute. Good luck out there.

A pickup and trailer doesn't scare the Karen class of people that live there as bad. I've even parked in residential areas and never had an issue. I've also have never been hassled by DOT in my pickup. This was a few years ago, maybe things have changed? I bailed before the ELD manadate. Twenty thousand miles a month is a lot for any pickup.

      Climbing over the console to get in the back is like climbing over the doghouse in the old cabovers. It can be done, just not very handy. I never like getting out of the truck at night to get in the back. Unfortunately in the old cabover trucks climbing over the doghouse was the only option.
      I'd sure hate to have to remove my passenger seat just to get in the back. My wife wouldn't appreciate sitting in the bunk when she goes with me. I suppose if you're always by yourself it's not as big a deal.

    Great truck, hope it does everything you need ...but the trailer ramps, wow. Flipping two max ramps seems quicker and MUCH less maintance/things that will eventually break. I'm shocked this is an option...not really helpful

    What why are you talk about CDL and semi. Other UA-camrs say hot shot make more

    • @jlovetheflash5371
      @jlovetheflash5371  3 роки тому +4

      I think it is mostly being able to adapt and see what works best for you, Hotshot may make more in some circumstances, but I believe it is best for us to look at all options.

      It’s no secret that semis make more. Way more consistent too. Hotshots make great money but the consistency isn’t there for new people coming into the industry. Once ur established and have consistent freight cdl hotshot can become very lucrative. 450-550 truck and trailer sitting on 15k axles is the ultimate cdl hotshot rig.
