I don't think GLaDOS actually deleted Caroline. That was the human part of her that had the emotions. Deleting that would have had GLaDOS actually going back to wanting to kill Chell. Because the game nodded that Chell is Cave Johnson and Caroline's daughter, more than likely GLaDOS learned this during the game and without showing any emotion toward Chell, just told her to leave and have a normal life. More proof? Translate the Turret Opera... "Goodbye my little girl. My darling..."
The proof is in the pudding... literally! The line "if I delete you, maybe I'll stop feeling so bad" suggests she didn't actually delete Caroline. Since Caroline would've been GLaDOS's only real ability to feel any real emotion a line like that is completely out of place. Plus the "maybe I'll stop feeling so bad" part implies GLaDOS still feels some kind of remorse or emotion. My theory is that GLaDOS faked deleting Caroline as either one last witty joke or as a way to make sure Chell doesn't come back to the Aperture Science facility. If Caroline's side of GLaDOS is gone, Chell would have no emotional attachment to Aperture Science, lore-wise Chell has been through a lot, and it's implied she had been through so much more with the possibility of Cave Johnson being her father. If Caroline was deleted or gone, so would the only real reason for Chell to want to come back to Aperture Science. I'm going to go with the latter on this one, as funny and in-character as it would be for GlaDOS to delete Caroline to just have been one final "screw you!" to Chell, the want for her to not come back to the facility makes more sense... Sorry, I'm 8 years late on this one heh...

I seriously doubt that; there's almost no evidence that Chell is related to Caroline or Cave. She might have been the adopted daughter of one of the Aperture scientists, but I don't think she was related to the heads of the company, and if she was, they didn't know about it. Although that would be kind of interesting, if Caroline gave up a girl for adoption before becoming GLaDOS... but they'd have to state that in-game for me to believe it.
