    Coming from 2012 G37 IPL coupe to 2018 Q50 redsport back to 2015 Q50a 3.7 I would go with the 3.7 ALL day. I loved my redsport I dumped $3000 into it went FBO then both turbos took a shit at 44k then cooling issues at 70k engine blew at 79k. After the nightmares with the VR I said fuck it let me go back to a VQ and bought a 2015 3.7 Q50 for $17k I miss the power but enjoy the reliability of the VQ. I plan on supercharging the VQ and calling it a day.

    3.0T no comparison and doesnt need an upgraded transmission. Can easily make 500 whp with bolt ons. On a VQ you will need a supercharger or turbo kit to get 500whp. 3.0T will also be more reliable at high horsepower.

      The 3.0 T cannot be stock at 600+ hp and be reliable no it is not nor is any other motor maybe a 2jz or ls stock could bang 13+ psi daily and still run. That is a difficult task. Not easy.

    • @supremecy187
      @supremecy187 3 місяці тому +6

      @toxicity6629 what do you mean it can't when it has been doing that for years on pures and rt turbos. Bonnie & Clyde beat on their 800+ whp car and it held up. People are making 700+ whp all day on the new Z1 turbos and has been stated to be very reliable by Racebox. An easy 700whp is the standard these days for these cars when they upgrade to the Z1 turbos. Plenty of motors these days are doing 600+whp on stock block.

    That white manual swap q50 3.7 is the way I would build one. I am currently looking for a RWD Q50S 3.7. The VR is solid but too many issues from what I’ve been researching. Also the 3.7 is very cheap to find if you do blow one up.

    Good video, Boost. I've been running my A2A Z full on balls to the wall for the last year. The motor has been holding up extremely well. Although, I did go overkill for the fueling (CJM Return Kit with Twin Hellcat Pumps). Mainly, I believe the dividing line was opting for the Flexplate upgrade.

      Can you make a video on your build? Everything that came with your kit what you bought after and anything else that comes to mind and maybe throw a list of it all in the description and build cost? Very curious about this platform and was looking into it but it seems 3.7q50 has way less support but the vq itself has crazy aftermarket

      @xavierc2161 I'll probably end up doing a video on all my cars once I am done with modding and tuning. I'm planning on taking the Q60RS, A2A Z, and 440iX all to the track and see how they hold up on a 1v1. My tuner is Admin btw, he sales the SC kits with all supporting mods.

    I think for a street car, 550+ is a good spot to be at. Some of you guys are expecting racecar performance and it's not adding up. If you wanna spend less than GTR money but have GTR performance, you might as well save that bit and get a used GTR imo. Youll get everything you're looking for. Otherwise just be happy to get this power out of a street car and enjoy those sweet beautiful turbo (or supercharger) sounds! 🐌🥰
    Also I don't see the point in doing a manual swap Q50. Just buy a G37 lol

    Keep in mind you can pick up a G37 with a manual transmission for $10k or less. You can get a single turbo kit for $6-7k, fueling $2k, clutch $1.5 & tune $1k. So for around 20k you can have over 600whp. Most 3.0t’s cost more than that out the door and then you have to worry about the shitty reliability of 3.0t’s.

      You can get a max of 750whp on the vr30. Nissan is literally the greatest company to produce a turbo charged car. Why do you think the GTR has achieved so much hp in the aftermarket?

      Thank you . Vr 30 guys don’t realize that. Vhr is a stronger engine but the trans is not designed to handle the power unless you build it or swap with manual or vr30 trans.

      I know the 3.5 and 3.7 have more displacement but aren’t they open deck blocks like the VR30? Nissan confused me when they made the VR30 blocks open deck while the VR38DETT is a closed deck block.

      Being so passionate I hope you realize consumers that have intent on modding 3.0t aren’t as dumb as you might think and going for the 45-60k 2024 redsport trim. That’s the only way a G makes any logical sense in this scenario. You can pick up a 18+ 15k-18k 70k+ miles if you going all out and don’t care or mid to low miles for 25-28k. 5-7k to go fbo and be 550whp on kill ST. It’s 2024, all these manual elitist such as obviously yourself in most cases can bang 1-6 perfectly fine causal driving but as soon as shit hit the fan y’all missing gears. If that’s the case get a 350/370z. Boosted VQs top out at 650-700whp. They don’t reliably touch 770+whp, also the reliability with VR30s have been proven already it’s countless on forums and yt with 75k+ miles OEM engine/turbos, you just have to know how to upkeep a turbo car and not treat it like the SLOW NA VQ most Q owners used to beating on (VQ35,VQ37,DE). Turbocharged is a different ballgame that’s a fact. Btw you not finding no $10k G that ain’t clapped out or got major issues knowing within the next 5k miles.

      @@toyor8888not a manual elitist, I know modern automatics are faster but a 6mt is so much more fun to drive and that’s what it’s all about to me. I bought my 6mt G37 coupe for 8k with 120k miles on it. Daily drove it for over a year and boosted at 150k hasn’t skipped a beat in 2 years. 10k for the single turbo kit, fuel system, greddy exhaust, & upgraded clutch. I was 18k in all said and done for 650rwhp and a 6 speed manual in a reliable platform. I still will probably get a q60 in the near future as another daily because they make great power, they are beautiful and the vr30 is legendary in its own way.

  • @SlateBlue_VQ

    There are plenty of boosted 3.7’s making over 600whp with close to 200k miles still going strong. You’re lucky if your VR30 makes it to 100k miles before it blows turbos or has a porous block 😂

      Vhr is for reliability , vr is for blowing up your turbos 😂. On a 3.7 all you r need is single mid ,top, or twin turbo (gtr) kit . and vr 30 trans swap mainly where your money will be spent beside smaller modifications and the is no difference in power or price . You pick what you want . But a vhr is better for the long run.

    • @toyor8888
      @toyor8888 3 місяці тому

      @@hc7786 the turbos aren’t THE ENGINE those 2 often get confused when VR30s get included in reliability conversations. That is the one thing as a consumer you have no control over, such as the gallery gasket issue VQs have or high mileage valve body issues cute cope tho. You obviously know NOTHING it’s a reason nobody does top mount on the Q chassis….no room and produces entirely too much heat, rear mount too much lag and literally subjective on where you live. You will NOT get away with daily driving a rear mount on the east coast or mid west shit not ideal try again. Mid mount is 50/50, say you go through with it it’s $6k-10k+ turbo kit alone, fueling $2500-3500 on the NICE SIDE, transmission boom nice. Hopefully when you take it out it doesn’t rain all that for nothing huh !! 10-11k into a VR30, $3-4k to go fbo maybe even cheaper if you careless about new or used products let alone being a company bandwagon. Mind you, you don’t have to go fbo FIRST to attain 600whp I’m just being logical lol. Can easily take that VHR money and get fdp intakes exhaust turbo kit lpfp hpfp = 600whp VR>VHR in every aspect but sound.
