Hi Scotty I have a 2009 forester with 158,500 miles on it I got it about 3 years ago I paid $2,000 I am getting a po420 code with the price of cars today should I keep it and fix it is running fine The transmission shifts OK with Subarus software when you have a check engine light on it turns off the traction control and you can’t use the cruise control either which is kind of annoying I only drive about 3000 to 4000 miles a year just looking for solid advice I’m in Ohio the car is in decent shape only has super facial rust on control arms frame same solid
Yes the review I been wanting for I have 08 37 coupe 180k miles very reliable and got it for 5k from a 1 owner just only have the p0420 code
A smooth V6 with a good manual transmission.......hard to find these days!
I’m an original G35 coupe owner since 2004. I wish I would have created a UA-cam channel myself considering I’ve had that car on autobahn roads in Germany from 04-09. Hitting 155 mph was a daily occurrence to and from work for me. Then went to Turkey and the UK after that. It’s a rare car overseas and definitely a looker. Still have my G at 252000 miles. Now I’m supercharged with a built engine and still enjoy the car everyday. It’s been very reliable overall; just normal wear and tear for the most part. Since being back stateside in 2018, I don’t drive as much as I used to but enjoy taking the G out now and then. It’s just not as fun as being on the autobahn.
The nissan maximas are pretty reliable too and they share the same engine
Dam these can go 155mph comfortably? That's impressive
@@leadnsteel1428 no they not stop it
"Twice the amount of crap that can go wrong when it breaks.." Amen
What my dad always said about a car with lots of goodies!
In principle yes, buuut in practice the MAF sensors and air boxes for the VQ37 are rock solid.
190K on my odometer and never gave me a problem. * knock on wood*
Got a 300 i6 in an 81 f100, never breaks, and when it does, it still makes it home lol ! None of that computer junk, I’ve been through 4 newer diesels, a jeep and a car and I just gave up and restored this old baby, put 155k on it, mostly highway and she’s going strong, no major issues, love this truck
@@Zac-ft7id that 300 i6 is imortal can run on 1 clyd
These cars are reliable the only reason why they're seen to break down as low as 100k miles is because most of the owners are teenagers, (I am one of them) that drive the car really hard and to its limit which wears down both the engine and transmission. If you drive the car like a normal person it would last much longer
I have a 2005 g35 coupe 6mt (same as the one in the video). It has 200k miles and still purrs like a kitten. I love this car, it’s such a blast to drive and always leaves a smile on my face whenever I’m behind the wheel.
Hi Scotty! Great review. I'm still driving an '05 G35 sedan with 6-speed manual. Bought it off the original owner in 2012. I wanted a family sedan, rear-wheel drive, performance engine with a 6-speed. Not many options were available, but this car has been great. Now has 178K miles and still on the original clutch. Car has been kept stock. My family has had their share of Honda's and Toyota's and love their reliability. However, this G35 has been a workhorse and hopefully it continues. Always enjoy your videos!
I was in he same kinda predicament, I got a 2007 Lexus is250. Same thing, sedan, rwd, manual. 173,000miles on OEM too haha
Is250 is a dream especially an excellent condition stock example
@@hisheeelijah1482 yeah I got somewhat lucky as it has the x package too, so fully loaded. Honestly surprised me that it has cooled seats for an 07 lol
@@rubbertoe. cooled seats in an 07. Well that was some levels of luxury back then. How reliable do you find it
@@hisheeelijah1482 just oil changes every 3-5k miles. Only thing that’s gone was the AC condenser but that’s just because it got hit by a rock in the highway.
Used Infinitis are actually an excellent value. They are generally pretty reliable. Very cheap to fix as far as a "luxury" brand goes. Also, simple to work on. Just be sure you get an infiniti with 3 pedals.
What happens if you get a automatic?
@@garrindecembre9229 want to know this as well, i own one with an automatic at 200k mileage and it runs like when i bought it at 12k miles. Ive just been doing regular maintenance and no issues.
@@garrindecembre9229 Just do your research, you can buy a auto, just don’t get anything with a CVT transmission. Which are the ones the G35s/G37s DONT have.
i mean the auto in g35/g37 is just fine reliability wise, CVT is where the real issues are
@types4212 need your advice, u ever change the transmission solenoids?
Nissan’s VQ35DE is an excellent engine. They can go forever if properly maintained. I’ve owned two 350Zs both with the Revup DE engine. In terms of reliability, my 350Z is the best car I’ve ever owned. Granted I’ve always owned MT equipped cars. Nissan’s rwd ATs aren’t bad (CVTs excluded). But beware of their fwd ATs.
Nissan's vq35de engine reminds me of the Ford cyclone 3.5, people will rather send them to the salvage yard than fix the timing chains, and then they'll call it unreliable these engines can 300,000 miles, I've seen some with 200,000 miles abused and still running.
I’ve owned an ‘03 g35 sedan and now a ‘12 maxima. In my experience the auto in the g35 was awful. It’s one of the slowest/slushy feeling autos I’ve driven and it started going into limp mode around 130k miles before I sold it. Tbh the cvt in the maxima is way quicker to respond and I got 150k out of it before needed replacing.
Would you happen to know how well the AT's in the 4wd g37s last? Been looking at one forever, still can't make myself pull the trigger because of how little I know ab the VQ and the trannys in that gen
@@samcardenas1991 vq engines are great
@@samcardenas1991 I drove mine for 4 New York winters, it never missed a beat. Always adult driven, never abused.
I had an automatic 2005 g35 coupe about 10 years ago . The insurance company total it out because of a small accident, the day after the accident I drove the car to a funeral and it ran well without any concerns. Now I have a 2007 automatic coupe with 52,ooo miles on it and it runs like a new car . What I enjoy most about these cars are the dependable, speed, driving ability, and the cruise control because after u set your cruise it will keep that same speed regardless of what hill you have to go up. Inifiniti is a great vehicle, drive one and you will agree .
5:17 Scotty never leaves an opportunity to insult the poor quality of chevy
Well someone has to 🤣 as a long time fan of GM anything built past 2005 has been problematic.
That’s the legendary V6 Nissan engine the has been rated as one of the best engines in car history!! Today is something hard to believe when Nissan/Infiniti reliability is pretty much gone after their deal with Renault and those terrible CVT transmissions!!!
Bought my 2010 g37 vq with 100,000 miles. Now it has 166,000 miles with no issues driving it for UBER & all. Normal brake & oil changes 👌🏼. Highly recommended, still drives like new.
I have a 2010 G37, still looks and drives like new. I redline it every day.
I’m planning on getting one Have you had any issues w the transmission?
Have owned 3 infiniti G’s over the last 15 years and still own a 2010 convertible. All autos and all great cars. Minimal issues. About as reliable as our 2013 lexus is350.
It’s because you got the years before the cvt transmission. We have a 2011 g37 and has 125k runs great.
I got a 2003 g35 with 285k miles
@@Geno20916 lmao what??? G35s g37s never ever came with a cvt 😭🤣

I have this exact same model. Best car ever. Ive had mine for years and it runs like new. Awesome car.
seeing scotty drive the car i daily and speak good praise makes me love my used 2006 g35 even more! i happened to have a automatic but everything is somehow still ship shape except my fuel senders don't work well but oh well thats what manually tacking mileage is for! :3 202k and counting! awesome video scotty! love your channel, thank you for all the knowledge you've passed along over the years.
G35 is a lovely design. Glad to hear your appraisal, Scotty! Merry Christmas.
one of the most beautiful, fun to drive, reliable luxury sports cars out there. Ive always kept my eye out for a infiniti coupe 6spd
Also, the Nissan 3.5 engine has a timing chain as opposed to a belt that can break. Thumb up as usual.
Great video, as always Scotty. I always buy used needing repairs and fix them, save a ton of money that way.
I used my noggin and didn’t listen to Scotty and bought a 2006 Toyota Tundra a few years ago when he recommended not to buy them. Best $6800 I ever spent.
It's still a Toyota.
Worst model tundra probably still better than most other trucks.
My 06 has 270,000 thousand miles how can you go wrong.
These are easily my fav Scotty videos
My 06 g35 manual coupe made it past 185,000 miles without major issues. Only sold it because I wanted a g37x
I loved everything about Scott enjoying his drive on this G series... i feel like that everytime i drive mine....
I just got a 2006 auto coupe with 70,000 miles for 5k. It was imported from Japan last year (Skyline 350gt) so it was dicey with service history, however after driving it was practically flawless. Will be servicing the ATF and Engine Oil to keep it running smooth.
I’m not even really into cars but I just love watching Scotty talk about them.
especially with his hands moving like an orchestra music conductor!
Bought an 05 FX45 in 2014 still have it no problems only changed brakes. Great car fun to drive
Scotty my men. I always come to check your videos wen I get a new car. I use to own a infiniti 2004 g35 mine worked fine until I got bored and got rid of it. It had 180k miles
Scott you're the man! I have always wondered if that cam noise was excessive on my g37 that has 134k but it sounds very very similar to what the video is thank you for easing my mind :)
car has a similar story to mine, 07 coupe AT and it’s been great. I boosted it and the car rips, even on the AT, great engines, great car, as long as it’s maintained correctly
You got a great spirit Scotty
Democracy was meant to be an App! with love from 🇨🇦
What Catalytic converter 🤣 that was the first thing I removed when I got my G35 . Awesome video scotty keep up the good work .
Got an automatic AWD infiniti g35x. All I've gotta say is yeah the manual mode has lag to it between shifts. You can buy a valve body upgrade for the transmission that is supposed to eliminate lag and have a more responsive connection in manual mode. It's a 200$ bolt on. I modded and tuned mine without and it's fine but it would definitely benefit the car. Otherwise, this is the fastest car you can get today for under 10 grand.
I have had an 07 g35 sedan (HR), 2012 g37s (vhr) and now a 2014 q50s (vhr). Extremely reliable v6 engines when taken care of well. Ive averaged over 300,000kms on each of them wothout any engine issues and i regularly abuse and track my cars
Imagine your neighbour just standing out the front everyday yakking to a camera. Gold.
Loved my g35, bought new in 2004... such a fun car
I still have my 2004 G35 6mt. Runs well. The only thing that’s concerning is that it burns a lot of oil and my furl gauge is funky.
Typical g35 problems, but well maintained they’re pretty good lol
Car looks great Scotty 👍. Clean!!!!!
Big up yourself World's greatest Scotty Kilmer.
That cat when Scotty quoted the price of the starter button...😂
Picking up a 2014 infiniti q50 next week. Glad to know it's one of the good ones
My wife's 06 g35 was bought with 80,000 just passed 135,000 only repair was a thermostat. Which was 13 dollars and came with housing!!! And it's auto. Great car so far.
I have 183K on mine. No issues at all.
How much did you pay for yours currently looking at one 88k miles for 9k
I have an 06 G35 couple mt with 55k miles. I love this car and it'll drive for another 200k miles at least. Glad Scotty gives it 2 thumbs up.
Scotty's right I dont even like *Power Windows!* because they do eventually break and Im tired of fixing them! Give me the old cranks please! 😄💕👍 Ohh and manual cranks are safer in case or accident or rollover in which you lose power 👍
Or have a unwanted trip into deep water. Too many have drown because power door locks and windows wouldn't work trapping them in their vehicle.
That's why I spray silicone on the door frames to help the power windows motors have an easier life. Another tip I learned from Scotty!
You really right mine are broken too , and my car's parts are hard to find
Loved both my Infinitis 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
5:35 Scottys driving straight imported JDM right hand drive baby!
Nice going, good luck my friend.
I love the vq engines. Hard to get away from them once you drive them. I have this 3.5 in a 2011 maxima and their 3.7VHR in a 370z. Also had the HR. All so fun and powerful. For the next daily, it's going to be hard not to pick another nissan v6 offering. Liking that frontier. Holding on to that good ol' port injected 3.5 for as long as I can. Their manuals are some of the best you can get and I'll be honest, the maxima's cvt has been a gem for daily driving. Smooth and responsive. I changed it's fluid at 60k and 90k..I'll do it again at 120k. It could just be luck, but the Nissan dealer I get anything done at has been so good with my cars. They babied my 370z when I got it and I didn't even buy it from them.
I absolutely love my 2012 Infiniti G25 over 154k on the dash and still purring the only major replacement I had had to do is the rear main seal.
Man oh man, that car is a beauty. These are great.
I had a g35x I wanna say it was an 06 (I think) great car granted I got rid of it around 120k miles. During that time I only needed to replace a coolant sensor around $20 part
I've got an '05 G35x sedan. Single air intake, no Rev Up CPU. It's a beast, especially in the snow with the AWD.
EDIT: I would say that the one Scotty is looking at HAS been modified. They have swapped out the CPU. Nissan/Infiniti had 3 basic versions of the 3.5 V6. There was the basic (mine), then they released a higher revving version, was accomplished through tuning via cpu. Then they came out with the dual intake high revving package. Each of these tune packages required a different CPU. You can tell by the engine covers and hood. Basic had all Grey cover and "flat" hood. The 1st high revving had red detailing on engine cover. The dual intake version had both red detailing on engine cover and a bulge on hood for 2nd intake.
I had an 03 g35 sedan 6 speed.. i sold ot with 332000 miles on it still running. Rare car for the 03 model year
Lol I bought a used G37x and it’s been running perfect. A/T as well. (No such thing as an AWD manual G37)
I used to have a 08 g37 coupe. Fun to drive but does loose traction in the rain. Also expensive to repair. It’s fun though
Scotty thank you for telling me to get a Toyota, I love my vehicle
Same lol
Just brought a used 2004 Highlander for $10,000 with 99,000 miles
Have an 03 6mt sedan w/ 201k. Love it

Gotta appreciate the honesty from Scotty
I'm the original owner of my G35 6MT, Sport Suspension, Aero Package. The car is now 16 years old with 103k miles. Granted it has some wear gremlins but no major issues. Basically the motor has been bulletproof and still pulls hard. All the major components are still original. I've changed a radiator fan and an exhaust cam sensor. I'll probably keep this car forever since 6 cylinder ,Manual Transmission JDM cars are non existant for now. I don't want a 4 banger Turbo car. Great car to buy as long as it has been well maintained.
Greetings from Amsterdam Scotty!
I bought a 2001 G20 8 years ago and it’s still running great
I’ve got a 2010 G37xS sedan 7spd auto with 151k and runs perfect. Only issue I’ve had was a clogged sunroof.
Whenever Scotty Kilmers drops the new videos I drink the shot of whiskey and roll up the fat Woolford and get all schmoked up.

I have the VQ37 and it’s AMAZING. Reliability is off the charts and plenty of power
Hey Scotty, glad you came around on these cars.
I bought my daily 2006 G35 auto sedan for $1500 and it's at 282,000 miles and running perfectly fine.

Hey Scotty! Love your channel. Gotta say though I bought a used 2007 Infiniti M35x with 89,000 miles back in 2013 and never had any major issues. I did have to replace the AC compressor in 2017 but that's it. The car drove like a dream. Never had transmission issues and the car was maintained well. I lost it recently in a flood due to Hurricane Ida. However if Ida never happened I would still be driving it today.
I always wanted a G35 coupe but I have a 2008 Lexus IS250 instead. The Lexus IS is a very rock solid car so I don’t want to replace that with one of these G35’s unless I know the last owner took care of it. That’s my biggest concern, getting a car that is used and it ends up being a money pit.
But you're basically driving a loaded Toyota corolla. Just a boring, boring car. Never in the shop but just a lame car.
@@earlusmcdivett oh well. I admit it’s not the most exciting car but at the same time I didn’t want to be straddled with expensive repairs. The financial aspect inside me took over vs the cool side. These engines, per nissan are good for 400k kms, I can vouch for that, provided you keep the oil topped upit will go the distance. After that you'll probably have to change out the headgaskets from age and they do foul the cats from burning oil.

Hey Scotty! 3:35. Just wanted to correct on this part. The Banks don’t have to do with the MAF. Every V style engine has 2 banks, so that the technician can identify which side they’re working on or which side has an issue.
you can throw a lean/rich code with a faulty 02 sensor on bank 2 or 1 it doesn’t matter if doesn’t have a “bank 2” maf
