Liked the vid, but was really hoping to see a GRADED neutral/standard profile against graded c-log comparison- would've been quite helpful for rp shooters or folks trying to decide between r and rp (as well as to see how the time-lapse is made closer to c-log in that regard and how much it entails). The search continues!
Great video ! Everything I was searching about was in this. Thank you !
Ah thank you. So pleased you found this helpful! 🤩🎥🙏🏻
Thanks so much! I've been looking for this simple-type comparison, and you nailed it. I hit the subscribe button just because you did such a good job. Enjoy the barbie.
Hi. Thank you so much 🙏🏻😃 I’m so pleased you found what you were looking for here. You are a valued subscriber and I hope you keep enjoying the videos 😃🙏🏻🎥
I have noticed that preserve highlights on Standard and rising up shadows in post gives quite good effect.
Nice Vid and great channel dude! keep up the good work! I am just starting out on the video front so I appreciate all the tips and helpers.
Thank you Paul 🙏🏻 Great. Keep going with it! All the best 🤩🎥
That's a great explanation. 👏🏻👏🏻
Thank you 🤩🙏🏻🎥
This was super helpful! Thank you so much! ✨
I’m so pleased this helped. Thank you for watching 🤩🙏🏻 if there’s anything else just let me know 🎥
@@SamHolland sure thing! 👌🏽
Super helpful, film real estate videos and always struggle to get the room exposed without the windows being completely blown out on sunny days. So sounds like if i get the Eos R6 when it comes out and shoot in C-Log it might help to get a better balance between the dark rooms and bright sky. Thanks Sam
Im here before you hit 100k subs ! Goodluck bro !
😂 Thank you bro! And thanks for watching! Hope you’re well 🙏🏻
Great Video man! Thanks
Thank YOU 🙏🏻
Nice Video, I am still a fan of the EOS R C Log, just gives me way more options in post. And i am really hyped for the picture of the R6, looking on buying that if its nice
Keep on going man, enjoy your vids!
Hey thank you Julian! C log is so nice isn’t it 👌🏻 I cannot wait for the new canon lineup to come out but I think I’ll be waiting a little longer before I get one 😂
love this vlog stile ! more skate and drone footage pls1!!
Thank you my man! 🤩🙏🏻 i will take that onboard! An excuse to get out on the board a little more 🎥🛹
Good comparison Sam! Thanks
LOG For better control over your image
The standard profile for quick turnaround
🙏🏻
I have a canon t7i which is a little old and obviously does not have c log so what I do to record the videos is not only to set the neutral profile but also to lower the saturation, sharpness and saturation and in this way it gives me flatter image with more margin in color correction.
Great job mate!
Thank you
really cool video. NICE music, well done finding that free! #Brilliant
Thank you so much! Hope you like some of my newer videos too 🤩🙏🏻 thanks for watching. All the best to you! 🎥
A great video. Great as usual.
Thank you William 🙏🏻🎥
@@SamHolland don‘t thank me because you‘re welcome.
🤩🙏🏻
Amazing!!!
🙏🏻 thanks for watching
I got cinestyle and it's actually pretty good. Nice comparison
Muito bom! Keep rocking!
🙏🏻 thank you! 🎥
"It's a hot day, 24 degrees I think"
*Laughs in Australian*
Great channel though :)
😂 were not used to it here in sunny old England! 😂 thank you 🙏🏻
We had 48 deg C this year in Sicily during summer, ouch!
For sure C-log is the best. Cool video, thanks Sam.
Thank you Will 🙏🏻🎥
I shoot clog3 in sunlight scenarios and standard picture profile in low light scenarios to avoid grain
Can you please explain the c log colour matrix... cinema vs neutral? Thankyou
This was a very good review. I’m trying to get the Canon log to download onto my computer with Vegas pro 17. I think I made the mistake of using a UHS I SD card when the camera requires a UHS II SD card.
Thank you 🙏🏻🎥
Thanks for the video. How can I install C-Log in mu Canon 700D (Rebel T5i)? Is somewere I can download?
Wishing you all the success mate!
I got this camera for UA-cam and tried to set things up,
at the end I noticed there are a littlie bit of a noise.
What's the best settings you recommend for indoor shots?
of course the lighting matters but any tip I should take? am just a newbie.
loved the down to earth video you made.
Thank you my friend. 🙏🏻 I did a short video sharing my settings here ua-cam.com/video/TBP6qFBfft0/v-deo.html this should get you started. But to keep noise at a minimum just go for the lowest iso possible. Keep in mind though that iso 400 on the eos R has the most dynamic range. Hope that helps 🤩🙏🏻 thanks for watching
I am a bit confused, on the conclusion part of the video did you shoot just the standard pp using the default settings or did you tweak it?
Very helpful, thanks. I guess I need to get off my butt and learn to color grade C-log.
Thanks for watching 🙏🏻 it’s not that hard when you get used to it. If anything, it makes the whole process easier and more bearable because you have more control over the colours and dynamic range. I have some new LUTS coming to add to the collection if you’re looking to get started 🙏🏻🎥🤩
Let me know if you need any help
I noticed there's C-Log available for Canon [say, 5D4] only via sending it to a Lab + playing 100$ -or- Buying a 20$ picture profile by EOSHD.
Are those the exact same? [8bit Clog]
What if you turned on the d+ or the D++ while in neutral,, it should gives you 2 more stops of DR in neutral?
Interesting idea ....... what setting do you have your Rode MIC set on ? It always sounds ace ! Have you tried Neutral but adjut the Sharpness, Contrast and Saturaiton down to the first bar on the left in the settings ?
Hey Hieth. Thank you 🤩🙏🏻 I have the camera level turned pretty much all the way down almost to zero and then +20 on the mic. I did a full video explaining my audio settings if you wanted a more in depth explanation. Thank you again for watching bro. Hope you’re well 🤩
@@SamHolland arrrh it is the +20 I have not done I have it all the way down and back 1 but then find I have to up the db in post to 15 ... still sounds good with your sound profiles added but need a bit extra oomph so this should do it I'll checkout that video as well that BBQ brolly could have entered into my #unboxing challenge cheers H
Yeh just pull back the cameras recording input level and that will give you the least amount of noise/hiss and let the microphone do the work 👌🏻 Hope that helps man 🙏🏻🎥
Standard picture profile in Canon is a thing that you should always avoid :) I shoot in my own profile which is more like neutral, but I go down with contrast as much as I can and add a little more sharpness (2 stops). C-LOG of course is a very nice profile but I'm still learning how to use it properly in low light situations, and how to grade it. It's less easy for non-professionals like me :D
Thank you for watching. I’m sure you’ll get the hang on it. I must say that I always struggled with grading log footage in low light but switching to the R6 4K 10bit has made it so much easier. Videos will be up soon! 🤩 there is very little noise and it makes it so much easier and nicer. Thanks for watching
@@SamHolland Thanks for the reply :) I'm also impressed with this auto mode. I never use auto modes but this seems to be very good! I wonder what settings it applied because it looks way better even than the neutral profile... I need to check it out on my EOS R.
🙏🏻
For the standard shots, you could have just brought up the aperture. That's a really easy fix to the "blown out highlights" problem I'm surprised you didn't go over.
I'm still learning to color grade... i suck at it, but will get it eventually.
Yes! Keep practising. Every camera I try, I have to learn again.
Do you use BT.709 or BT.2020 when recording in C-LOG? I understand you'd have to convert the 2020 to 709, but are there advantages to having a 2020 input?
Hi Scott. I use 709 🙏🏻 thanks for watching
For the M50, would you recommend Cinestyle or CLOG3CCG? (both of which I apparently installed years ago and never used)
EDIT: Never mind, I tested and the "fake" CLOG3 is WAY better than cinestyle on the M50!
Question from a newbie: can't one just do c-log then use a LUT? Or is this more for fixed locations?
Yeah you can. There will always be a little tweaking to be done with LUTS, but that’s the same with anything really 🙏🏻
How do I like the vid twice hehe
😂 haha thanks you legend! 🙏🏻🎥
this helped quite a bit
I stumbled upon a stupid challenge: a client requests that I deliver a video within 20min after shooting a press conference.
Before that, I always filmed in a flat profile, and now I couldn't wrap my head around how to pick a profile on a camera and go with it.
The other day I filmed it in a profile mode on a cloudy day and it was really bad. Good for the client, awful for me.
But this auto profile just might do the trick
Thnx Sam!
Hey gr8 vid, was it filmed in 4k or 1080 ?
Thanks Michael. This was all in 1080p 🙏🏻
@@SamHolland got to love cannons 1080p !! so good
iPhone XS it really has a great camera, at least better than my Nikon D7200. Anyways, I admire your work!!!! Also I would like to ask you a question about the timeline in YT, how did you cut it into chapters???
Hey! Thank you! 🙏🏻🤩 I’m so pleased you’re enjoying the videos. To make the chapters, all you have to do is write the times with a chapter name in the description. You have to make at least 3 for it to work and they have to be at least 10 seconds each. If you look in my description you’ll see how. I hope that makes sense 🤩🙏🏻
Sam Holland Thanks a lot! I will give it a try :) 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
🤩👌🏻🎥
I have this problem with files that i import directly from my new canon R6 in C Log. The original file codec is HEVC 10 bit 4:2:0 and when i import the file to the sequence and zoom in 200% or 400% I can see that the image loses quality, especially in areas with more information like hair.
In this video i used the original file and a converted file at the same time in the timeline and when i switch from one to another i can see that the original file with the original codec looks terrible next to the convert one.
Besides this when i play the original file on my pc the image looks ok, but when i import to premeire it what you can see. If i export the original file it will export as you can see in the video.
Can someone help me with this? has anyone experienced this? Cant find nothing online
My adobe premiere version its the adobe premiere CC pro 2019 Version 3.0.1
This problem only happens when i use C LOG Files, it's annoying to have to convert all files to edit a video when I shoot in C LOG
ua-cam.com/video/79aEI-HQWyU/v-deo.html
I didn't know the dynamic range of the eos R was this poor, the standard picture profiles look like they have like 8 stops or DR! It looks like I can get a lot more out of my Panasonic G80, hopefully the eos R6 will be better
Dude you have a tutorial on how to colour grade c log
Hi. I don’t currently but I’m working on it 🤩 thank you for watching! 🙏🏻🎥
@@SamHolland ...love your work brother...I have the C70 and R6 ... and I found the same problem as you did and when I watched your video it confirmed that I was sticking with my R6
Ah thank you! 🤩🙏🏻 pleased you enjoy the channel! Yeah the R6 is just so much easier to work with for me. Maybe with more practise I’ll get there. 🎥💪🏻 great combo you have
Does R5 take c log 4k ?:) did u try?
Hi. I haven’t tried the R5 but I’m sure it has c log. Double check on the canon website to make sure 🙏🏻
Sam Holland in canon page. Just 8k raw:( not 4k :( ı hope they can fix it with software update:(
I Think the automode outside in your video looks so much better than your c-log.
During your conclusion you have a side by side comparison. Again, your neutral looks ten times better than your c-log. The c-log looks greyed out, under-saturated, flat and boring. The neutral is much more warm and saturated.
It does say ungraded though. Shouldnt you grade it in order to actually show whether or not c log is worth it?
I really like your color grade. I'm terrible at it.
Thanks bro! 🙏🏻 I’m still learning. Trying to get it to look good across all monitor screens is hard. Thanks for watching. Hope you’re well 💪🏻🎥
It's Cyrus from Trailer Park Boys!
😂 just need the leather jacket! 😎
@@SamHolland Glad you're a fan! Thanks for the video, by the way.
This is a 35mm lense? it looks like a 16mm
I’m using the 15-35 RF lens at 15mm 🙏🏻
@@SamHolland ahhh that make, the quality is amazing :)!
C log gives too much noise in dark.
If you know what you're doing...You do NOT need LOG!
My god you are wordy. Thanks Sam. It appears you mainly favor C-log because you like your custom grading better than the Canon manual presets. When discussing contrast, you missed remarking on your raccoon eyes 6:28. I also have black walnut trees, which are very messy if you track smashed pods indoors. By the way to the American ear, at 14:25 it sounded like you said gay reviews. I don’t think you review homosexual relationships, although it became apparent after 15 minutes you are a handsome young man. 😏
Jed the Fish!!! How are ya man?! Remember me with Nic Capelle?? 🙏🏻
there is no difference in dr..its the same
Auto looks better. Log looks like brown smears on a paper.
I mean… they all look bad
