My life has been a lie I never knew this could be done on the color tab 🤯
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 this is getting pinned to the top
Lol here I was thinking resolve was super difficult dealing with the edit tab thanks for the pin btw 😂
Thank you Sir!! Im moving in.....................or probably just go hide in a closet for now!!
Bro... I've really been learning a lot from your videos. Thanks so much for sharing these tips with us... People like me who are just starting out in DR and don't have the money to pay for courses, we're really grateful for it...
That adjustment clip just changed my life. I can't believe I've been doing each clip manually for so long.
Glad to help! 👊✌
Kept forgetting that the adjustment clips are there!
Thank you Marcel. You are someone who really knows what he is doing with Da Vinci Resolve.
Thank you Marc!! 👊✌
So helpful... I'm a life-long musician trying to figure out working with video. I don't "think" video yet, and your lessons are helping me to figure out how to get a vision for a project. I'm so not there... but I appreciate your chill attitude and showing all the little things.
I am also a life long musician! Great minds think alike haha... I made the switch only about 6 years ago and have been in love with video ever since. I still produce a lot of the music heard on this channel and when a video job calls for something custom and/or specific but these days most of my time is spent in the video world. Enjoy the journey! You will love it
Your tutorials leave me feeling like I owe you some cash for real. You give way too much, be blessed for that.
Thank you!
It's my pleasure Pearl 😃 I appreciate the kind words 🙏
Beautiful Marcel! I appreciate you sharing these wonderful techniques, well film, well explained. Thank you!
Thank you Alex! Glad to help 👊✌
Just installed Davinci Resolve yesterday and found your fantastic tutorials. What a blessing!
Thank you Christian!! Enjoy the journey, Resolve is like a whole new world ✌
Love DaVince Resolve, still hard to believe what you can do with the free version.
Man, I love your style! We recently switched to Davinci Resolve from Premiere, it's a great NLE, just need to get new habits. Your channel will surely help, thank you!
Thank you for the kind words!! Welcome to the party Windy Burrow 🎉🎉🎉
Finally someone does technical tutorials on Resolve. New sub!!!
I got you BAMA!
Man this blows my mind. I am just a casual user and love to learn about editing. Already liked your creative clip and was amazed by your comprehensive guide to follow along. Great use of the Color station to "track". Good tip to use the adjustment layer. Thank you very much for your insight.
Thank you very much Fabian!! 😁✌
So awesome! I’m using the free version right now of 15 but saving for the full studio edition. Your vids have been super helpful, been learning a lot!
Thank you Jeff! 👊 The Studio version is AWESOME! Best value for the price and it's just getting better
Thanks Marcel. Learning alot from u again.
Cool! As a side note, you could grade clips together before the adjustment clip too. You just select the clips you want and put them in a group. Sometimes groups are more appropriate since you may have similar looking clips in different parts of the video. Thanks for making great content! 🤗
Great advice Alex! Thanks for the comment bro ✌
Hey man first things first, THANK YOU.... this is one of the best videos I have seen that actually breaks down Resolve! You have got a new sub! Look forward to reviewing more of your work!
Thank you Andres!!! Really appreciate the encouraging words my friend 👊✌
Great stuff man! I don’t sub too often but hard not to sub to a guy that provides a quality tutorial like this! Love how you don’t fly through it, keep up the great work.
Thank you very much my new friend!! 👊✌
Thank you for all your hard work
Thank you Kevin!! 👊✌
You're amazing. Thanks for all the help, I'll never forget you.
Thank you iJONATHAN! I'll never forget you either bro 👊✌
Just stumbled on your channel last night man! Already a huge fan. I can’t stop watching. Can’t wait to see what other tips and tricks you have up your sleeve! 10/10
Thank you! 😁👊✌
You just have a new subscriber bro. You made it look so easy. I took a post production class last semester in college and to be honest with you, I learned more with you than when I took it last year. I am looking forward to watch more videos from you. Blessings!
Haha that is awesome Philemon! Glad to help sir 👊✌
Super helpful man! I’ve been practicing my edits on my snowboard vids and your vids make it much easier! Stay motivated
Thank you Craig!! 😁👊
The Modern Filmmaker for sure! Also, a video on how to track a text behind an object as it pans left or right would be awesome! I’m trying to figure it out on my own and it’s frustrating!
Great video! Both effects turned out great, couldn’t tell they were effects. Well done. Great presentation. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you CB!! 👊✌
This was a really helpful video. Thanks for posting it.

@@TheModernFilmmaker I just kinda started editing career and left the old job, and people like you inspire to become a professional in editing and grading. Thanks

You are so welcome Chuseto!
perfect tutorial
Thank you 🙏✌
I love your videos man
Thanks Ed! 👊✌
You are Blessed
Thank you!!! 🙏🙏
Great ..🍻
I love it! The only major thing that got my eye was when you softened your skin, you should mask out eye for that because skin looks even better in a contrast against something sharp, plus otherwise everything is washed out like a bad footage (I guess it works if we go for overall dreamy hazy look though :) ). But that is probably just what you'd do but couldn't fit in the video. Maybe the eyelashes can be masked out based on luminance only with a hard feathering, maybe not - but we would mainly need sharp hair at lashes and eyebrow. :) Maybe iris too, depending on the exact effect we want.
Thanks you for the input musaire, I appreciate you taking the time to comment!... It is really all just art though, it's like one painter telling another how he should paint his personal work of art. That is what makes art great. All of us artists have different looks, feels, workflows and techniques that make us unique among each other.
@@TheModernFilmmaker I agree.
Hi Marcel. Great video where you explain your working process. Hope you will make it also for the rest of your San Francisco clip. Cheers, Greg.
Thank you Greg!!
Thank you.
I sit here watching this...thinking holy smokes i didn’t even know you can use adjustment layers in resolve... just like I did in premiere
And the alpha channel.. just like you would do it in Ae
Damn how did I not get this earlier :D
Thanks man you made my life way easier 😅
Hahaha so many great possibilities man!
amazing tutorial.. thank you ..you desrve likes & subscribes.. which i already did..good job bro
Thank you Chan!!!
You are a likeable guy and thanks for giving out your tricks in DaVinci... but please stop killing the mouse button ;)
Thank you very much! Sorry bout the mouse
BMD comes up with something new that often ... 💪
They are so awesome, it really shows how hard they are working at getting this program where it needs to be for consumers
More like this, Please? Thanks!
And btw subbed already!
You got it Nadim! Thanks for the comment
@@TheModernFilmmaker👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼
Cheers man ;)

Hey Marcel, I love your channel and your enthusiasm!! I learn a lot every time I watch your tutorials.... I have a few quick questions though... Do you select your camera profile in the "Color Management" of your project settings or do you grade from scratch? I don't have a camera which is on the list (GoPro Hero7 Black, mainly for filming underwater or in the air)
How do I go about not having a colour profile for the GoPro? (GoPro is so widely used nowadays, why didn't they include it?)
Greetings from Poland, Chris
Thank you ask me, I really appreciate the kind words! I usually just start from scratch. Unless you are working with a particular color space like ACES or working with raw footage there isn't really a need to change any color management options.
Sick tutorial love your enthusiasm! How do you do the transition glitch at 18seconds to 19 seconds? Every video who has these strobe glitch effect transitions seems to be using premiere. is there a transition pack to get this effect for davinci?
Thank you Marc!! I like the way you spell your name, it's like half of my name 😂 ... I am planning to do a tutorial on glitches in Resolve and I will also make a transition pack to accompany the tut. Thanks again for the comment and encouraging words ✌
your a magician in video editing. Dam good.
btw what is the song in the video.
hi marcel, what do you think about colorgrade with aces cc and cct in the colormanagement?
It really all depends on which display your videos are going to be seen on and work flow preference. I need to try and make a video explaining how I would use the different color management options. Thanks you for asking!
Hey bro, I'm watching some of your old contents and trying to learn something new here! And one quick question: what exactly did you do with that "qualifier" step before tracking the eye, what's the purpose of this step? would you please explain that real quick? thank you and have a nice day!
The qualifier was so to select the inside of my eye so I could put the clouds passing in my eye. Thanks for the comment! 👊✌️
Great tutorial man, do you have any tutorials for hlg3 pp sony color grading
Thank you! I don't have any tutorials on Sony yet but I will soon!
new sub here. thank you for those tips and videos.
Quick question, do you use raw footage all the time?
by the way, you have to start patreon or something cause this work worth more support.
Thank you Targar! I typically use LOG footage
Sick video love the effect quick question I see in all your videos when you are in the color window you have the 3 windows across the bottom every time I go into resolve 16 it defaults to the 2 window view and I can’t find the option to change it any help would be dope !
Thank you Paul!!! There is a menu at the top labeled "workspace" that should give you options to change the layout of the program UI
The Modern Filmmaker much appreciated keep up the great content you are really providing some great knowledge for all of us just getting started on our journey
Hi Marcel. Great Video. Could do a video where you show your approach how color grade video snipets that has different daylight or weather conditions to make the video not that harsh when the clip changed? I do sometimes some drone videos where I shot a video on two days with not pretty the same daylight conditions. Example: first shot, a drone circles over a boat and the second shot is from the inside with windows and sky in the background. On day one it was a bright sunny day and on the second shot it was as well but not really the same it is a bit more dizzy. Blue colors will not be the same. Do have any tips on that how to make both shot a bit similar?
This can be difficult at 1st but I will make a video. It is fairly simple once you know. Thank you for the comment geckoklaus!
8 Premiere users watched this 😂
Great vid Great tut Marcel
You’re making me miss Resolve even more, but I’m in hospital right now
Haha thank you Frank! Come back to the party man, I am sure Resolve misses you 👊✌
Hello my friend.. I would like to ask you if there is any basic workflow for color correction and color grading. For example: What do you always do and in what order do you make these corrections? If you already have the video, could you send me the video link, please? Thanks for your videos and for your help !!!!
Thank you Ednei!! It really depends on the footage which is why I have so many videos on color grading and many more to come. When grading DSLR clips I generally follow this workflow ua-cam.com/video/j2KRn1Bx6Ys/v-deo.html
you are a cool man. to sad you are not living here so we could do a film think together. too sad. keep the tutorials running
Thank you!! Where you at in the world?
I am from germany and if you will visit Europe, gimme a note
What’s up man? I have a random question.... I’m fairly new to video editing and Davinci Resolve. I’ve done a couple projects that I thought were 1/2 way decent but I’ve been going back thru them and noticed some lagging. Smh. What could I be doing wrong?
Would it be Possible to have you make a list of all your DaVinci Resolve 15-16 Tutorials with Main subject with title and numbered in order of publish & with the URL. You Tube doesn't make it easy to find one persons work and in order or with a description so one doesn't have to watch a dozen videos to get a simple answer .... Thanks Other than that great job.
If you search for the channel and go to my homepage, I have playlists. There you will find the videos in order and it is very easy to autoplay all of them. Does that help?
@@TheModernFilmmaker I'm OLD can you point me to your HOME PAGE PLZ
@@HoundDogMech yes no problem ua-cam.com/users/themodernfilmmaker
Please let me know If I can help you with anything else
By what standard r u color grading? We all know displays vary. Meaning, your display can be differently calibrated to mine, thus all colors will be off.
I used to physically splice 2" tape to edit
I just started learning davinci .. my question to u .. how long it take u to master this amazing app ??!
Hey Seleem! I came from the Adobe Suite and for about a year I only did my color grading with Davinci. Once I started making myself do everything in Resolve it didn't take too long to figure it out. They best way to learn is to just start using it, when you run into a road block find a tutorial on what you are trying to do and over time you will play the program like a piano.
I downloaded DaVinci for free the beta but I get to access it without the activation key how can I get on it
What is the blue Alpha output?
It is a way to control alpha through the Color section of resolve.
what monitor u using bro ?
I recently got the Dell U3219Q and love it! Great price, accurate color, and easy to use
I can middle click to duplicate any luts to another clip
That will actually copy the whole grade including lens correction and power windows which is not always necessary
@@TheModernFilmmaker Ah ha good point, still a beginner
Even more important, on which platform are you using DR? Linux users need and want this. There is ever increasing numbers of people moving away from windows especially.
I am using Windows 10. Does this run on Linux?
@@TheModernFilmmaker yes it does. Thanks for the quick reply
It is showing media offline even after relinking in davinci resolve 16
Please suggest how can I solve it
New beta recently came out. Try it and let me know if it works
lol does not show the video behind eye when i try...connected alpha output and followed all :(
🤣top
Hey !! What is up!! Are you checking your web Site? I did apply to your u know thing.... and nothing. Ok I get it. But next time please don’t you ask me to be your full time zzzzzzz k?
Sorry bro 😬 been caught up in work mode. Just sent you an email back! Thanks for the reminder!
I downloaded DaVinci for free the beta but I get to access it without the activation key how can I get on it
There is a free version. The Studio version uses a USB stick to verify ownership.
@@TheModernFilmmaker USB stick I don't get it
