    There is a way that Synchronoise can get even worse.
    Eevee gets it as an egg move. If that Eevee then evolves into Umbreon, you have a Syncronoise that only hits Dark types. But, it's still Psychic type, which Dark is immune to.
    It's literally a move that can only hit Pokemon that it can't affect.
    Also, Kinesis has an even better reason that no one remembers it. In generation 1, it was complete inaccessible.
    Technically Kadabra learned it at a low level, but since it was learned before Abra could evolve into Kadabra, and the wild Kadabras in the Unknown Dungeon were very high level, there was no way for a player owned Kadabra to have the move.

    • @mushroomdude123

      What were they even thinking making that move?

    • @autobotn1815
      @autobotn1815 9 років тому +32

      RydelFox But that would also mean that every other Eveelution gets it, giving it decent type coverage. Also, since Ralts gets it as an egg move, you could give it to Gallade and get fighting coverage.

    • @Sealedaway
      @Sealedaway 9 років тому +17

      Commander Cody But does it though? Remember that Synchronoise is ALWAYS a Psychic type. None of the Eeveelution types are weak against Psychic, so you wouldn't be able to use it for anything anyway. Gallade is a Psychic/Fighting type already, doesn't it get enough fighting coverage from that?

    • @autobotn1815
      @autobotn1815 9 років тому +8

      Do Not Remove This Seal And when did I say that it hit those types for super effective damage? When I said decent coverage, what I meant was it can hit a good amount of types. And besides, while none of the eeveelution types are weak to Psychic, all of them but two (Psychic itself and Dark) don't resist it. Really anything with a base power of 120 is going to hit pretty hard, and Psychic can hit almost any type for neutral damage.

    • @Sealedaway
      @Sealedaway 9 років тому +4

      Commander Cody Oh right, forgot about that 120 power buff. Well, now I'm starting to see what you mean.

  • @lunacappell9285

    Fun fact, there is actually one case where Synchronoise is useful, but it is extremely unlikely. In Pokemon X specifically, if you are horde hunting on Route 8 and you run into a shiny Seviper in a Zangoose horde. If you have a Normal type with Synchronoise in the front of your party, you can KO all the Zangoose before they KO the shiny Seviper.

      sure in the 1/1,000,000 chance of getting a shiny on top of getting a horde on top of it being a zangoose/seviper horde which is like 1 - 5%

    • @elijahpadilla5083
      @elijahpadilla5083 5 років тому +13

      @@LoverofSquids Fun fact: This is because Eevee gets Synchronoise. Technically, all Eeveelutions have access to a 120 BP Psychic move that works on any Pokémon that shares their Type.
      I learned this because a friend of mine got their Crabominable nuked by a Glaceon with Synchronoise.

    • @BaBooTubeVideos
      @BaBooTubeVideos 5 років тому +5

      @@Mst3kfanatic1 Horde battles give you 5 encounters, each of those pokemon have a 1 in 4096 chance of being shiny. In horde battles, the odds of getting any one shiny pokemon is about 1 in 820. Since we need to have the Seviper specifically be shiny, our odds are still 1 in 4096. Since Seviper/Zangoose hoards happen for 100% of all hoard battles on route 8, let's assume you were planning for this. It is also worth considering that shiny Zangoose don't matter, since all we need for this use of the move to work is a shiny Seviper. So, with all this in mind, with planning involved, Synchronise is useful at least 1 in 4096 times.

    • @WaterKirby1994
      @WaterKirby1994 4 роки тому

      Glaceon could use Synchronoise to prevent opponents from taking advantage of Ice Type resistance to Hail which it can then abuse. Flareon could alternatively make use of it to prevent opponents from taking advantage of Sunny Day weather. Synchronoise isn't that bad a move in the grand scheme of things if you know how to use it thanks to the base 120 power.

    What about Flatter? A move that is unquestionably worse to its counterpart, it confuses the opponent but at a cost of raising their Special Attack. But since confusion damage doesn't take Sp. Attack into account all it does is buff the other team and cause a temporary status ailment. There is literally no point to it when Confuse Ray or even Swagger are available to a hefty majority of Pokemon..

    Kids these days better be thankful they didn't have to deal with the monstrosity known as generation 1 "wrap".
    The fact that you couldn't move, and the TM had 90% accuracy, and a 12.5% chance to hit you up to 5 times, made this move unbearable during the first gen. Especially since you would find yourself repeatedly sitting there, sifting through potions, finally to be allowed to move again, JUST TO HAVE YOUR OPPONENT MOVE FIRST AND USE WRAP AGAIN AND IT DOESN'T MISS. Next thing you know, you're sitting through 4-5 more turns, watching your health dwindle all over again, as you wish you could do something.

    Frustration has some competitive use. In a format when Ditto become common, you would like to have Frustration to weaken the attack power of opposing Pokemon that transform into your Frustration user.
    Squash is a pretty useful move in doubles and has been used a lot in White Kyurem teams during VGC2016. I agree about the singles part tho.
    Kinda expected Conversion 2 on the list. Conversion has at least some use as a Z-Move.

    Teleport is a pretty sick move outside of battle for the beginning of *any* Pokemon game. Instantly teleport to the last Pokemon center you used, and save a ridiculous amount of time waaay before you can even get Fly. Not to mention Abras can usually be caught before you reach even the third gym.

  • @alexanderstilianov

    It's funny how great Pokemon like Kadabra and Alakazam learn two of the worst moves. I actually like Teleport because when you've caught an Abra early on in the game (when you don't have a bike or Fly) you can instantly teleport to the last pokemon centre visited. Of course i replace Teleport as soon as possible but it's fun while it lasts.

      It can really screw you over if you use it without thinking though; the first time I played a pokemon game, I caught an abra in cerulean city and when I checked it out in the menu, I saw that teleport could be used out of battle, so I used it. I had no idea what it would do and ended up being taken back to pewter city because I hadn't been to the pokemon center yet. For years after this, I hated this move for making me trek through Mt. Moon again for no reason. Though provided that you know where it's going to take you, it can have some out of battle use.

      I'm not sure if it is, but it is a battle option in secret bases. It's still generally useless on Umbreon, but the point, I think, was to give it to Eevee. On Vaporeon, for example, Synchronoise might actually be pretty good, considering it may have no other way of dealing with bulky water types outside of shadow ball. Of course, Toxic might be better, but let's say theoretically you're up against a Tentacruel. There it works brilliantly, I guess. Same goes for Glaceon. Sylveon doesn't really need it because it has access to psyshock, but yeah. The designers wanted to be cutesy by letting Eevee have it. It'd be pretty odd to put any special attack on an Umbreon, especially when it has access to Foul Play, which would also be super-effective against other dark types in an Inverse battle.

    4:22 you forgot that certain pokemon can learn Synchronoise through breeding, and one of those pokemon that can learn it through breeding: Eevee. That adds about 7 types alone to the coverage of pokemon can be hit by it. Sure, on some eeveelutions, it's useless, *cough* Umbreon *cough*, but on something like a Sylveon, it's fairly reasonable. Other pokemon that can learn it through breeding are: Psyduck, Natu, Ralts, and Woobat. I would say that it's still a bad move, but if I had to place it on this list, it be #8, not #5.

      Well, supposing Kecleon survives a, let's say, fighting attack, the now-fighting-type Kecleon can hit back with Synchronoise. But only if the opponent is a fighting-type also. If it's any other type - like a Heliolisk that knows Focus Blast - it's not gonna hit said Heliolisk. And even if the opponent is a fighting type, it may be resistant to fighting-type moves [like Breloom, Heracross, Gallade or Hawlucha, just to mention a few]. So, it's still pretty bad.

    Early game teleport is very helpful, allowing you to quickly return to a pokecenter before you get fly.

      XelNigma Mud Sport is somewhat useful as it helps the whole team, plus: mantine, Relicanth, Kingler, Blastoise, Slowpoke, Seaking, Feraligatr, Crawdaunt, etc can learn it.. There are are more pokemon that are weak to electric that learn mud sport, than ones that are immune. Water Sport on the other hand is a poor man's version of rain dance.

    Moves like constrict are kind of useful for catching Pokémon. Say you took over half the opponents HP with one move and you're worried it will faint if you hit it again. But you know your best chance of capturing that rare, hard-to-catch Pokémon is to get its HP in the red zone. So moves like constrict help to carefully whittle that HP bar from yellow down to red, provided it doesn't crit and all your efforts go down the toilet.
    Also, Pokémon like Delibird lead me to believe that some Pokémon weren't meant for the big leagues. The guy clearly just likes to give presents. (Hey, if there's a Santa Pokémon, is there a Krampus Pokémon? Which would you think it'd be?)

    Synchronoise might be sort of good if it had the opposite effect. It would do neutral damage to any type that wasn't the same time as itself but any Pokemon that does share a type is unaffected. It would even make sense. The Pokemon makes a psychic noise which has no effect on Pokemon that are synchronized with the user but any Pokemon that isn't "in sync" with the user gets damaged. And it could even hit Dark type Pokemon! That would help out the Psychic type Pokemon that learn it

I suppose using them in double battles would be decent if Rain Dance didn't do that Water Sport did as well as activating abilities and boosting water type attacks by 50%. Maybe Mud Sport could be usable in doubles? No, the lightningrod ability is 100% better as it completely negates electric type attacks aimed at your side of the field.

    After watching another Pokemon video, I actually say another move should be on this list. Flatter.
    Flatter is like Swagger, only it raises the target's Special Attack instead of Attack. This is another one of those moves that you wonder why it even exists. Swagger raising Attack means the opponent will do more damage to themself in confusion. Since confusion only factors in Attack, Flatter's raising Special Attack doesn't affect it at all. In fact there's absolutley NO WAY Flatter's Sp Attack boost can ever be BAD for the target. At worst, it'll influence nothing (used on a physical attacker). And if they're special-based... congratulations, you just helped them. Kind of like Present.
    If you want to inflict confusion without the risk of Swagger, just use Confuse Ray. Same effect, just without the possibility of giving a special sweeper a boost.

    • @MrDemonicfang666
      @MrDemonicfang666 10 років тому +6

      swagger and flatter are awesome moves in double battles, use them on your own poke who is carrying the de-confuse berry and bam they can wreck shop and get a buff, i used flatter on a poke that had surf once in a double, and when the berry went off and he de-confused he started sweeping, killing both each turn it was awesome

    • @BigKlingy
      @BigKlingy 10 років тому

      There are actually better ways to pull that off without wasting your partner's turn, or at least doing better than +1. You could have one Pokemon use Draco Meteor and have its partner use Topsy-Turvey, you now have +2.
      The Swagger Own Tempo/Substitute/Persim/Lum combo can be great, but Flatter isn't as good because it only gives a +1 boost. Probably not worth wasting an ally's turn for. Remember Double battles are very fast-paced.

      I never said anything about Swagger being bad. In fact, Swagger-Foul Play was so good that was one of the reasons Smogon banned it.
      Flatter can't be combined with anything like that, since there's no special equivalent of Foul Play.
      This list DID incorperate at least one move that was considered bad because another did everything it could and more (Bestow vs Trick) so why not Flatter? (confuse Ray and Swagger being the better options)

    I am gonna be that guy here, but technically you could argue that Frustration is more useful than Return. Lets say you have a Pokemon with Frustration and your opponent sends out a Ditto. That Ditto will transform into your Pokemon, thus getting the move Frustration. However, that Ditto's Frustration is probably going to be very weak because there is a very good chance that the Ditto will have max happiness. If you opted to use Return, then that Ditto could use it at full power as well.
    This is VERY niche, but nonetheless it is a selling point for Frustration over Return.

    • @EliseArainai
      @EliseArainai 9 років тому +12

      +p4 Games Yeah but that's extremely situational. Also, I don't like the thought of having unhappy Pokemon at all, especially in Gen 6 where there's a chance that something good will happen to my very happy Pokemon during battle (potentially healing from a status condition faster, higher critical hit ratio, surviving a move by one HP that would've KO'd it, etc.) Not to mention in Black 2 and White 2, the main villain Ghetsis has a Hydreigon who knows Frustration, and guess what? It's at full power! Gives you an idea of exactly how cruel Ghetsis is to his Pokemon, and it's just one more reason for me to hate him.
      So yeah, maybe Frustration has a couple of uses, but I'll still take Return over Frustration any day.

    • @JigglyBooties
      @JigglyBooties 8 років тому +1

      +Elise Arainai that whole gen 6 thing you said with happiness actually has to do with affection, which has absolutely nothing to do with happiness. You could have 0 happiness and max affection and those good things would still happen in battle.

      Mani De Maki What do you mean ignores trick room? If your using Quash to make a slow pokemon attack first, trick room makes that move irrelevant because the slow pokemon will go first. Murkrow won't get to use Quash because it'd be faster than anything in trick room. Then if you slow it to use against trick room, the opponent will attack before Murkrow gets to Quash. Trick room makes this move useless. Plus, isn't Quash a targeting move? It's still possible the pokemon you didn't target will take out your slow damage dealer

    I've never been that big on Hidden Power. Obviously it has its uses in competitive play (a lot of the builds you see on Smogon implement certain types of Hidden Powers for the sake of type coverage), but in casual play, it's just not that good. A move with only 60 base power (as of Gen VI) whose type is determined by Individual Values? Most casual players aren't going to go through the trouble of trying to get a Pokemon with just the right IVs for the right Hidden Power, ON TOP of trying to get a Pokemon with a good ability and/or Nature, assuming they're even doing that.

    what about razor wind? it's a horrible move. it's essentially a normal type solarbeam with 80 power and an increased crit-ratio. You know what's better than this move? strength, same power, no charge up. Or slash, 10 less power, but still has increased crit chance and no charge up. This move is just useless.

    The irony is, in most other RPG and strategy games, teleportation abilities are overpowered (if not essential), providing you with instant tactical advantage.

    One of my least favorite moves is Memento. You lower some of your opponent's stats by two stages (I think), and you die. What? WHAT?! Excuse me?! I should be defeating that Pokemon if it means mine has to go down too! >:(

    • @CreepyPastaSlayer
      @CreepyPastaSlayer 10 років тому

      at the LEAST they should make it go down by friggin 5 stages because why should i waste a pokemon to lower my enemys pokemons attack a bit

    • @gabrieladonai9427
      @gabrieladonai9427 10 років тому +4

      Yea, Memento is bad... Unless, MAYBE if you had a pokémon with low hp and facing a sweeper, ever thought about it?

    • @RikuSucks101
      @RikuSucks101 10 років тому +3

      Memento is one of my favorite moves to run on Uxie, Reflect, Light Screen, Memento, Switch to Sweeper, GG

    • @SelkiesSong
      @SelkiesSong 10 років тому +6

      It allows you to cripple the pokemon, and bring in a sweeper that essentially gets a free turn to set up while your opponent is forced to switch out. If you saved it for the right moment, it can be very useful.

    • @DoubleJEspejwan6
      @DoubleJEspejwan6 10 років тому +2

      ***** No, Perish Song knocks out any Pokemon on the field that had heard it within three turns. Memento faints your own Pokemon but lowers the opponent's Attack and Special Attack. They are two different moves.

    Teleport is bad in battle, but good in gen 6 because it teleports you to the last Pokemon center you've been to
    That was a relief for me because of I'm low on items and some of my Pokémon's power points are very low, teleport will instantly take me to the place where everything about your Pokemon will be fully heald
