- I love metronome. It's my favorite Pokemon attack. But why does GameFreak keep ignoring it in the newest games? Today, I decided to push Metronome as far as the move could take us.

@@SSM0770 If Cleffa has Magic Guard (which it SHOULD because that ability rocks) then it shouldn't take any recoil damage except from Struggle and self-destruction moves, IIRC.

Never have I heard the sound of a heart break so loudly and tragically as I did when that volt tackle ended everything. It's a sign from God, that this poor Cleffa was *too* lucky for this world.
The Cleffa that dared to unspool the threads of fate and weave for it a new cloth from which to bind the heavens, undone by its own hubris. She was Babel, and much the same, came too close to the Heavens. Her fall was brief, sudden, the complete inverse of her long struggle.

I was training a Togepi in Soul Silver, and was seeing if it could take down pokemon on its own rather than just getting exp through the exp share.
First battle, metronome into Fling, and it yeeted its exp share at the enemy.
I think the Togepi was telling me it was done with being babysitted.

In SS, my togepi won a battle with only swagger.
I've had that happen twice. So upsetting.
I read this before, not sure if this is an original story but might have happened to you.
That's as bad as when I was (trying to) train my Togepi in Crystal and he decided to use Explosion.

Pokemon Soul Silver: Ghost gym: My whole team was wiped except my level 10 Togepi, who only had 1 move that was effective: Metronome. Metronome got me that gym badge.

I had a Hustle Togepi Swords Dance into dragon rush once against a boss, which was awesome
Once in soul silver, Whitney's clefairy metronomed healing wish and killed it'self first turn. This left just her Miltank.
@Pepe I got Lock On and Fissure both in a row once. That gamble got me passed battle 50 in the Battle Chateau in Omega Ruby.

I'm glad to see someone else share my passion for Metronome. Having my Togetic haul off and launch a Roar of Time at my opponents every now and then was one of the highlights of my Heart Gold playthrough.
But metronome can only use gen 1 moves. And roar of time came from diamond and pearl. Correct me if I'm wrong, but r/quityourbullshit
@@swiftarrow1174 It can only use gen 1 moves in Let's Go Pikachu/Eevee. They're talking about the gen 4 game Heart Gold. (Also, I totally get you OP. My Togepi used Judgement in battle once and I was so proud of the little egg.)
This is why Pikachu became the mascot instead. Clefary eventually slayed Arceus and became the new god

OHKO's don't work if you're lower level, or slower.
Pokemon XD gale of darkness has a metronome data disk challenge......I was unfortunate enough to get hit with a metronome triggered Imprison.

Once I had a metronome duel with a friend:
-I attacked first
-metronome...
-lunar dance...
-ded...
You don't need to run simulations: You know this is possible now. Conversion to ghost type on the first Metronome, and then you just need to average 6.67% damage on each of the next 15 metronomes without damaging yourself. It may not have "Won", but you cracked the code.

TheJWittz, thank you for making this video. I’ve been waiting for someone to tackle this concept of using metronome for a while, and jeez was it a struggle. I’ve been looking for so long now for a video like this, and I can finally let it rest. This move has endured a lot of controversy, but I have always favored the move. I have even sketched out Pokémon using metronome in my art book. Some people are really flattered by the move, and some people are taunted by the move. In fact, I love the move so much people shoot me mean looks now and then for chanting about it all the time. I think it’s time for me to cut it out, and let y’all know that there’s something about this comment that you probably already catched :)
That cleffa losing had the same energy as losing the clefairy minigame in pokemon stadium, and then watching a cpu finish the song and win.
This video was about a slow, metronome-driven decent into madness. My condolences.

I have an amazing Metronome story. I was playing Platinum, and Fantina's Mismagius wiped out my entire team except for my Togepi, which I had never used in battle before, and was just sitting in the back on my party with the Exp. share. I decided to spam Metronome because I figured I might as well have some fun before I lost (although I think it was my only option against a Ghost type anyway). To my disbelief, I got a Metronome strong enough to beat the Mismagius (I don't remember what move it was), and then I was able to beat the Haunter because the only non-Ghost type move it had was Sucker Punch, and Metronome apparently doesn't count as an attacking move). I beat Fantina's two strongest Pokemon with a Togepi, all thanks to Metronome.
Soon as I saw volt tackle I’m like “Wait.... oh....”

So, something I recently learned, and something I'm not sure if someone else here mentioned, is that damage dealt is also dependent on your level.
For example, extrasensory is a psychic, 80 damage move that a lot of baby pokemon can learn. But the only reason they don't sweep everything at those levels with such a powerful move is because the game takes levels into account ON TOP OF the attack a pokemon happens to have. It's not a simple "DMG plus ATK minus DEF equals HP lost" type of deal.
So when Clefairy hit that Magmar with that earthquake, it was held back by being level 23. If it was level 50, I'm pretty sure it would have easily one shot it with that earthquake.
Metronome is one of the coolest move, normally you spend hours spawing the same 4 moves, but with metronome you can use 200 moves.
