Being 10 forever sounds like eternal happiness to me. Remember how cool everything was when you were 10? Now imagine that but with magical, monster pets and all the money you get for essentially being a major world sports star. Sign me up. Has anyone ever suggested that Ash could be cursed? Trapped in an ageless 10 year old body until the day he finally wins a National Championship. He can never age until he is, in fact, the very best. I'd love to see a Timeskip that lead to a storyline where the protagonist keeps meeting a mysterious, middle-aged mentor who turns out to be both Ash and the League Champion; winning a League started him aging again but he got all of the intervening decades in one go.
Digimon actually added new protagonists and brought cameos of old ones back multiple times. I always thought that was one of the coolest things about it.
That coma theory does not make any sense. When you are in a coma, you can't imagine things that you have never scene before, let alone generations worth.
Hey maybe the reason he loses in the eternal happiness theory is that he wants to be better (the best). Sometimes being better means learning from your mistakes!
Remember the first ever episode of the anime, Ash sees Ho Oh. The pokedex entry says "anyone who sees Ho Oh is promised eternal Happiness." What is eternal happiness for Ash? To forever be on a Pokemon journey. That's why he's forever ten.
The reason Ash keeps on losing the Leagues is because Ash's eternal happiness is an eternal Pokémon journey, so as long as he doesn't win the League, his journey will be eternal.
DChipMunk Exactly, but until he wins the leagues, his journey will continue. And as Ash's eternal happiness he received from Ho-Oh is an eternal journey, he'll never win ALL his battles, so he has something to work towards on his journey.

The reason why James Bond, Spongebob and Mario's aging aren't in question as much as Ash is because their adults and their development already reached their peak, so you don't expect a lot of change in appearance. Ash is at an age where he should be experiencing major changes AND is traveling in an Odyssey type journey which means time IS passing so that's why his aging is more in question.
Also unlike those others, Pokemon is an anime with every episode ending with "To be continued". This suggests that Pokemon is supposed to have some sort of continuity, with one episode happening after another.
That makes a lot of sense. To be honest I think that Satoshi Tajiri (creator of Pokemon) never expected Pokemon to be so huge. The reason the 1st and 2nd Gen games intersect is because that was supposed to be the end of it. Hoenn and everything that followed was made by popular demand. Now they all have dollar signs in their eyes and will not let the series die gracefully. They will drive it into the dirt before it finally ends. Oh...wait it already has.
During the indigo league it's clearly stated in one of the episodes that ash turns 11. Since all the main regions are approximately the same size it's reasonable to assume that collecting eight badges and taking part in a league takes one entire year therefore by counting the number of leagues it's safe to assume that by the start of X and Y ash is between 14 - 15 years old. Furthermore ash's behaviour is clearly different in latest season showing that he is older. I don't understand why the writers refuse to abmit it.
Totalwarking7 if Ash Ketchum is on each journey for about A year or two and according to A they if Ash Ketchum did actually age at all he would be twenty and he left out one the pikachu and pichu mini movie well one of the two did and clearly the pokemon animer has no desire to age Ash Ketchum up to any age past age 10 on the pokemon anime at all
Mario: No chronological pattern displayed in the series Bond: Movies aren't chronologically connected, or in some cases at all. Spongebob: well... He's not alive(?) Bart: Sure he ages, he just never grows (blame it on Homer working at a nuclear plant) Tim Duncan: ....No chronological pattern displayed in the series Ash: Chronological pattern showed in the series, chooses to ignore them.
I think ash is actually aging pretty realistically. Think about it. he was ten at the beginning of black and white, but since then his age hasn't been mentioned at all, and he looks pretty 11 to me......
I think the ho-oh theory makes a lot of sense. Ash's dream is to be a pokemon master, so if Ash never wins the pokemon league, it would be eternal happiness and he would always be chasing his dream.
I've heard that in Black and White 1, he is eleven and in the 2nd ver. of B&W, he is already twelve, so in X&Y, he looks older because he "is twelve", and yes, this is a hypothesis, I think is pretty close to it right?
Ash's route in the anime somewhat sticks with the games of BW. After awhile in BW, it turns a little more into BW2 (ghetsis' clothing, southwest unova...) If this is following the games, ash will be 12 at some point, it is often mentioned that BW2 took place 2 years after the original games.
Yeah, I have watched it and it is really impresive, but childhood plus the rare motive to play pokmon after watching an episode makes me watch that show
Not that this has anything to do with Ash's age, but anyone else wonder what he did with his ORIGINAL hat? Just wondering, since he FREAKED out about losing his hat at the episode he caught his Primape at. xD
Probably left it at home, as a memory of his past adventures. He's grown mature enough not to be obsessed with the hat ever since that Primape episode. Personally, I don't mind now because he's currently wearing the hat I always wanted him to wear since Gen III.
Isabella Moore Hehe. Just watch my video called, "My Interview with the Chosen One - Ash Ketchum". I ask him a bunch of questions, including a question about his Official Pokemon League Expo hat. :)
Ash is definently a good pokemon caretaker, and understander. Possibly even a great pokemon ranger if he ever became one. But he's terrible at actually succeeding. Red breaks down and beats down giovanni twice and disbands the entire rocket organization, while giovanni seems to be extremely over glorified as an unreachable villain in the anime with ash usually having trouble with the 2 most inept rocket members throughout his 4+ region journey. Red takes down the elite four and becomes the champion, while ash never reaches the top 3 in any of the league championships despite having what could be considered years of battle experience. NOT TO MENTION HIM LOSING TO THE FIRST GYM OF THE KALOS REGION.
Are you referring to the games? Or Origins? Giovanni in Origins wipes the floor with Red with one only Pokémon, and Red barely won against him. Gamewise, Giovanni should really step up his difficulty, it's quite easy to see his weakness. Also, Ash made to the top 4 in the Sinnoh League, and considering how no else defeated Tobias's Darkrai, I say Ash is in the Top 2. Btw, I never recall the first gym leader to have Ice Beam, Signal Beam, Protect, *Psychic*, and Solar Beam in the games. Usually they have weaker moves such as Bubbles or Quick Attack.
Evan Pan-Bao Even if we're counting origins, red still wins and beats giovanni in the end while ash never comes close to even fighting him. And I said that ash has never made it into the top 3 of the leagues he's been to. And still, top 2. He has never became the champ or the "very best" in his 6+ season journey over 4 regions. I didn't know that the first gym leader had those moves, but pikachu at this point has fought well enough battles to be level 50+. A first gym pokemon is still a first gym pokemon. Pikachu still should've been able to win.
NeutralGuyDoubleZero Considering that in the last battle Red has six Pokémon, while Giovanni only had two, it's not really a fair fight to begin with. Not to mention that Giovanni had a change of heart in that special, and it's that change that caused Team Rocket to be disbanded as they were still an active organization (All Red did was thwarted their plans). If you know anything about how rounds work, it goes from Top 16 to Top 8 to Top 4 to Final Round. There is no Top 3 in any of the leagues. And considering that the runner up against Tobias didn't even defeat Darkrai, I say that Ash has a really high rank (Top 3 at least) in Sinnoh. Not to mention that Pokémon Leagues in the games is nothing like the anime Leagues. Ironically, the League that actually fits the game format is the one that Ash won, the Orange League. Let's see, four trainers you must face before heading off to face the Champion. And I highly recommend you actually watch the XY Gym battle before making statements like that. If there's anything I know about first Gyms of any regions, is that they must prove they (and the rest of Kalos) are not pushovers for any trainers, even if they have over 42 badges. Viola is also the sister of Alexa, the one who brought Ash to the Kalos. Viola knows that Ash is coming, that he's from Kanto, and is with his long time partner Pikachu. It is likely she had prepared for this since his arrival.
Evan Pan-Bao Very true that it was a 2:6 battle, but Red is still written to thwart team rocket and actually get stuff done. Ash is for some reason left in this endless void of constantly battling the most inept members without actually moving up the food chain for any extended period of time. At least from what I've seen/heard. I'd gladly try and watch the first season of the anime if I could find the subbed versions since the english voice for ash in that season makes me want to puke. Literally. Oh god it's everywhere... The fact that Ash still never actually comes out on top despite doing the league challenge 4 times is still sad. I guess my biggest problem with ash at this point is how the writers handled him instead of the actual character. He never truly progresses or improves in the grand scheme of things. True he ends up learning a new strategy or 2 but in the end he never becomes the very best or catches em all in any region despite having over 300 episodes of time. Is there a solution to this? YES. CHANGE UP THE PROTAGANIST LIKE THE GAMES INSTEAD OF CONSTANTLY REUSING THE SAME GUY! Aaaaaaannnnnnddd end rant.
Just looking at Ash, I wouldn't mind for him to grow. Getting new clothes is for someone who grows bigger. But if he doesn't get bigger, then new clothing should be out of question. Mistakes were made when they made it into a pure children's show. They didn't even try to fix episodes. They also got rid of amazing characters. Misty, Brock, Tracy... Ash doesn't even act like his usual self. The show just needs to end.
+William Winder Ash may loose from time to time because the world may not be believable and the illusion is shattered. All of Giovanni's horrific experiments would be wasted and he would have to start again to create the worlds most powerful pokemon trainer to tame the beast that is MEWTHREE.
the theory of eternal happiness makes sense, if ash won the champoinship he would have to stay as champion and wouldnt be able to continue his adventure
Ash seems like he's aged in X and Y and he looks about 14. Serena is his age and she appears to be "developing". I haven't seen it since like episode 5 or 6 is Serena a legit love interest for Ash finally or am I just imagining things?
I've been watching X and Y lately and in my head I was like, "HOLYCRAPHOLYCRAPSERENAHASACRUSHONASH GAH!" I really think this Pokemon series will be really good!!!
Joshua Kelly Probably because they know this character will not be sticking around, and don't want to have to make a mess severing threads when she has to leave. Not to mention that the anime is for 10 year olds, who are less likely to be concerned about relationships than older viewers.
Joshua Kelly Serena is a legit love interest in the Japanese version there is an episode where they introduce serena's rival and at the end of the episode the rival whispers into her ear saying "if you don't do better ill win him from you" something close to that don't remember the words exactly but it seems like it
I have a theory! Maybe Dialga and Palkia were just having a cup of coffee one day, and said, "Hey Palkia, let's keep this kid and his friends at the same age forever, they seem to love their life of catching and training pokemon.", "Yeah, that sounds like a great idea!". And THAT, is how this all happened... I think...
Ash is in omni-purgatory. He is locked at a constant skill and age. This is why all his friends leave him and Pikachu is his only partner. Arceus is trying to teach him something but he just wont fucking LEARN!!!!!!!
Ash is really fourteen years old his birthday is February 29th that's why he's still 10, up until the day he started his journey, his mom and Professor Oak kept track chronologically until he hit 10 After his journey starts, he goes back to the 'date aging' in which he only gains a year when February 29th officially passes. His friends know about it and love to make fun of him for it, so he doesn't bother correcting anyone anymore.
I believe that the Ash Coma theory is actually the most realistic one i've seen. It makes sense if he went into his coma in this order. Ash got shocked by lightning, saw Ho-oh and blacked out, and so this allows him to be in a coma with eternal happiness which would make some sense.
I have my own theory on why Ash is still 10, it's because the anime is basically the pokemon games, how the trainer you play as doesn't age (yes I already know characters do age through the game storyline, but not in-game), how no other characters have any in-game changes (especially the professor of every game), the same happens in the anime so I assume that the anime is just a way to represent the games and how there are barely any character changes throughout the games.
Am I the only one who isn't bothered by Ash not aging? Sure, he's only 10. But remember, all of us were around that age when Pokemon first came out. :) Why have so many fans forgotten this? It doesn't make sense to me. Personally, I think Ash is a very positive character. And he's a great role model for everyone. He's kind, caring, and he never gives up! He's so confident and determined! And I love the fact that, Ash always stays positive, no matter how difficult a situation may seem.
Amazing what you just typed ;) Do you think its silly that girls like Pokémon? (just wondering because the boys treat me like I'm one of them and they are friends with me but they just don't like *like* me.) Oh p.s touching story. But I'm with Team Rocket~ Sorry ;)
AshFangirlLisa I also personally don't see the big deal, most cartoons don't have normal aging protagonists. Now admittedly most also don't have an established continuity but obvious changes and references to the past do happen yet there is no mass hysteria. Why can't Ash be a kid forever? What does that even break in his fictional world or ours? Nothing. Sure I see the allure of progress and closure but its not like the current method isn't doing its job. After 800 episodes kids clearly don't seem to mind having a protag they can all, regardless of generation, see themselves in. Thats really cute even if we see the benefits of growth/change. For older fans we just move on and keep playing the games but even there we never age. Same concept, different medium and we know the games are capable of tracking real time. An aging system like the Sims would be possible yet there is little demand for such growth. Each protag just stays 10-14(?) forever and never advances to Supreme Lord of Pokemon (its way after Pokemon Master, I invented it), Ash is no different. Pokemon is a classic and classics that you can revisit at any age are usually timeless just like Ash (at least until the money runs out)
there is a trainer who is said to be the docter. he looks like TENnant, the tenth doctor, and says he has some kind of mission to protect the world. i don't know which game he apears in but im guessing diamond and pearl (and platinum), since that is about the space/time pokemon. and that he needs to deafet them to save the world, but when you win, he sees you are strong enough to take them on.
Spongebob does not age, because you can watch the episodes in no particular order. Same goes for Mario or Bart. You can watch one episode, without having to watch another episode in order to understand it, because there's no real progress in any of the episodes or games. In Pokemon, there is progress. Yes, you don't really have to watch all episodes to understand another one, but you get the point.^^
Realistic Pokemon: Ash arrives in Unova with his Pokemon that should be at least level 70 from Sinnoh, since that's the level you're supposed to be in when you finish the Sinnoh games, along with a level 100 Pikachu, and burns down the homes of the Level 12 gym leaders.
Coma theory: maybe if he won the tournament he wouldn't get the same joy of trying it, and there would be less to live for. Don't dump some explanations on me, I'm just trying to speculate on how that COULD work. It's just a theory, a gaming theory. Respond if you get the reference :D
Was Brock the same age as Ash is season 1? He had a really deep voice, but if he was older, why was he hanging out with a 10 year old? I'm also curious how old May, Max, and Misty are now.
The other theory I could think of as to why he does not age, is the first movie where he fights Mewtwo. After he took the blast from both Mew and Mewtwo, maybe something happened there that stopped him from aging. After all he did take 2 attacks from legendary Pokemon, and was brought back to life with Pikachu's tears.
He does't he mearly has many of that pokemon that can use transform he then proceeded to cheat the pokedex that or there is some sort of poke exploder that spawned them
my bad, I said "Ash confirms" I meant the narrator, it's the same episode that appears in this video where the narrator says "Ash Ketchum, 10 year old etc"
no it doesnt in japanese it says this is masara town in the kanto region, one of the boys living in this town is satoshi, who is 10 years old, he is 10 in japan aswell
Well regarding James Bond, I like there theory that James Bond is a codename and that's why there's multiple of them. I know in Skyfall, I think it's Skyfall, it contradicts this but still.
Nice fact but in the last episode of adventures in Unova and beyond it shows Ash putting his badge case up with all the other badges trophies ribbons ect on a shelf meaning Ash does not age. Nice try though
Did it say of he earned those? If not, that Ash could have had family who had gotten those badges. If it did, then the Ho-Oh theory is what I am going with.
Ash isn't the only one who doesn't appear to age, look at the other main characters like Brock. Maybe he's still the same age when he first met Ash at Pewter City
I like how people are more focused on the fact that Ash never ages, instead that he seems to suffer memory loss after every movie! Remember when your mom got captured by a fake Entei made by Unown?
I don't think it's only the teeth that make Ash look older. He looks thinner, like he's lost his baby fat. And if you count the position he's in (half crouching) he seems to actually be taller.
What about Ash being turned into stone in the pokemon movie by mew and mewtwo, and then being well unstoned by the tears of the pokemon, maybe thats why he is forever 10. idk just another theory
i get it but ill make it more sence. when mew and mewtwo turned ash to stone. the pokemon crying didnt work. its what he thoght it did. and thats why he never ages. another coma thery exept stone added
O_o imagine when that ever stone is taken away... He'll just wither into a (very) old man, and since humans are pokemon (game theory) and pokemon's can't die, only faint, he will forever be something like.... Uh..... 100000ish maybe a bit more
When you mentioned a series using new protagonists every season while bringing back aged previous protagonists, I thought you were going to bring up Digimon even if it was only the 2nd season that did that.
I actually kinda like the Ash's coma theory, is it perfect(or better yet canon?)? No, but It's a interesting theory that a guy like me enjoy's reading.
The eternal happiness theory makes the most sense. In the 1st episode of pokemon Ash saw a ho-oh fly over a rainbow, In the DP/HGSS pokedex ho-oh's entry says that whoever see's ho-oh is promised eternal happiness. Since ash's eternal happiness would be a never ending pokemon journey, he will always be 10 and continue his pokemon journey forever. Unlike The coma theory, the eternal happiness theory works within the pokemon game cannon and Actually makes SOME sense. I'm not saying the coma theory Isn't a well written theory, but the author could have shown evidence that would help support their claim/theory. In conclusion, I think that the eternal happiness theory makes the most sense out of all the "Why is ash still 10" theories. If you do not agree with my opinion that's fine. but we all have our own opinion's and they should all be equally be respected. Thank you and have a nice day!

Remember the first ever episode of the anime, Ash sees Ho Oh. The pokedex entry says "anyone who sees Ho Oh is promised eternal Happiness." What is eternal happiness for Ash? To forever be on a Pokemon journey. That's why he's forever ten.
In the pokedex it doesnt say that until gen 4. So I guess he reversed in age in gen 4
The reason Ash keeps on losing the Leagues is because Ash's eternal happiness is an eternal Pokémon journey, so as long as he doesn't win the League, his journey will be eternal.
but...there are many leagues and other battels to win except the leaugues -_-

Lets just say that Sun and Moon happened between Gen 3 and 4
Totalwarking7 if Ash Ketchum is on each journey for about A year or two and according to A they if Ash Ketchum did actually age at all he would be twenty and he left out one the pikachu and pichu mini movie well one of the two did and clearly the pokemon animer has no desire to age Ash Ketchum up to any age past age 10 on the pokemon anime at all
Mario: No chronological pattern displayed in the series
Bond: Movies aren't chronologically connected, or in some cases at all.
Spongebob: well... He's not alive(?)
Bart: Sure he ages, he just never grows (blame it on Homer working at a nuclear plant)
Tim Duncan: ....No chronological pattern displayed in the series
Ash: Chronological pattern showed in the series, chooses to ignore them.
I believe that "James Bond" is just a codename for their best agent. So every different actor who plays Bond is LITERALLY a new agent.
thesynergy2 I would somewhat agree with this, except that some different bond actors are linked with each others storylines
Spongebob has been shown to have birthdays.
YumByte2 Spongebob should be mutilated, raped and put to the torch
if you take his employeee of the month plaques he ends up being at leat 31
It's more than obvious why Ash doesn't age... The game's internal battery ran dry... xP
lol
Except for the gen 4 games and beyond, which use the system time currently on the DS.
***** but Ash was born in first gen, where does that leave him? O_o
josh11735 he just doenst age .. well cartoon actually doesnt age the creators make them age ..
blader linker That answer is just too easy and not punny enough :P
I think ash is actually aging pretty realistically. Think about it. he was ten at the beginning of black and white, but since then his age hasn't been mentioned at all, and he looks pretty 11 to me......
6:34 Digimon has done this (though the old protags returning mostly happens in Sequel series/movies)
I think the ho-oh theory makes a lot of sense. Ash's dream is to be a pokemon master, so if Ash never wins the pokemon league, it would be eternal happiness and he would always be chasing his dream.
Let's just agree that Ash has a disease that makes his body age, but not his....actual...age...
2:51 in Black & White he is still 10 years old ._.
#thanksobama
#thanksobama
#thanksobama
I've heard that in Black and White 1, he is eleven and in the 2nd ver. of B&W, he is already twelve, so in X&Y, he looks older because he "is twelve", and yes, this is a hypothesis, I think is pretty close to it right?
Ash's route in the anime somewhat sticks with the games of BW. After awhile in BW, it turns a little more into BW2 (ghetsis' clothing, southwest unova...) If this is following the games, ash will be 12 at some point, it is often mentioned that BW2 took place 2 years after the original games.
Yeah, I have watched it and it is really impresive, but childhood plus the rare motive to play pokmon after watching an episode makes me watch that show
6:11 This aged like fine wine
Not that this has anything to do with Ash's age, but anyone else wonder what he did with his ORIGINAL hat?
Just wondering, since he FREAKED out about losing his hat at the episode he caught his Primape at. xD
Probably left it at home, as a memory of his past adventures. He's grown mature enough not to be obsessed with the hat ever since that Primape episode. Personally, I don't mind now because he's currently wearing the hat I always wanted him to wear since Gen III.
Evan Pan-Bao Nice explanation! :D
Isabella Moore Hehe. Just watch my video called, "My Interview with the Chosen One - Ash Ketchum". I ask him a bunch of questions, including a question about his Official Pokemon League Expo hat. :)
AshFangirlLisa Okay, THAT is awesome. xD
Isabella Moore that is a good point if i remember the episode he enter some contest and sent in a bunch of letters to get that hat
also he has also also met jarachi, a Pokemon who only appears every thousand years, twice. So that adds another thousand years.
but he also meet both Celebi and Dialga multiple times each. Each are associated with Time Control.
Came back for the Tim Duncan joke, you're awesome Josh.
This video is as old as Ash
Fact: Animated characters rarely age. South Park is a rare exception and even then, they age slowly.
5:50 Winning doesn't always make you happy.
Really *****? Why doesn't it ever go anywhere? For character building sake.
Joshua Kelly Probably because they know this character will not be sticking around, and don't want to have to make a mess severing threads when she has to leave. Not to mention that the anime is for 10 year olds, who are less likely to be concerned about relationships than older viewers.
Joshua Kelly Serena is a legit love interest in the Japanese version there is an episode where they introduce serena's rival and at the end of the episode the rival whispers into her ear saying "if you don't do better ill win him from you" something close to that don't remember the words exactly but it seems like it
Zardan Hussain that i didn't remember what she said word for word
I have a theory! Maybe Dialga and Palkia were just having a cup of coffee one day, and said, "Hey Palkia, let's keep this kid and his friends at the same age forever, they seem to love their life of catching and training pokemon.", "Yeah, that sounds like a great idea!". And THAT, is how this all happened... I think...
It's a better theory than more than half of ANY poke pastas. My god some of them are horrible.
To grow you need to eat, Ash doesn't have teeth until X and Y,so that means he doesn't grow. GENIUS! :P
You know what's worse than the Ash's coma theory? The Ash is a clone theory
They both suck and make no sense xD
Well maybe the clone theory is better
I never heard of this theory and I think it's garbage
Ash is in omni-purgatory. He is locked at a constant skill and age. This is why all his friends leave him and Pikachu is his only partner. Arceus is trying to teach him something but he just wont fucking LEARN!!!!!!!
Cmon JWittz, Digimon was the obvious answer at shows that successfully bring back protagonists as older characters.
I'm guessing the reason we want him to grow up is because we are growing up.
"Tim Duncan never ages" - Video made in 2013
I totally lost it at that xD
Ash is really fourteen years old
his birthday is February 29th
that's why he's still 10, up until the day he started his journey, his mom and Professor Oak kept track chronologically until he hit 10
After his journey starts, he goes back to the 'date aging' in which he only gains a year when February 29th officially passes.
His friends know about it and love to make fun of him for it, so he doesn't bother correcting anyone anymore.
target demographic: 10 yrs
actual demographic: 20+ yrs
I believe that the Ash Coma theory is actually the most realistic one i've seen. It makes sense if he went into his coma in this order. Ash got shocked by lightning, saw Ho-oh and blacked out, and so this allows him to be in a coma with eternal happiness which would make some sense.
Watching this just after Ash’s retirement was announced. Surreal tbh.
Here's one theory:
Ash Ketchum doesn't age because if he did, he would become Chuck Norris.
"Tim Duncan never ages"
That might explain why he never smiles either.
Pokemon XY anime comes out. Ash learned Bite! XD
The Time -skip in Naruto is 3 years.
Am I the only one who isn't bothered by Ash not aging?
Sure, he's only 10. But remember, all of us were around that age when Pokemon first came out. :)
Why have so many fans forgotten this? It doesn't make sense to me.
Personally, I think Ash is a very positive character. And he's a great role model for everyone. He's kind, caring, and he never gives up! He's so confident and determined! And I love the fact that, Ash always stays positive, no matter how difficult a situation may seem.
Amazing what you just typed ;) Do you think its silly that girls like Pokémon? (just wondering because the boys treat me like I'm one of them and they are friends with me but they just don't like *like* me.) Oh p.s touching story. But I'm with Team Rocket~ Sorry ;)
You sound like youre in love with him
Jordan Raaymakers Yes. I love Ash because he's my childhood hero. :)
What's so wrong about that? Everyone needs a good role model.
AshFangirlLisa I guess thats reasnable
AshFangirlLisa
I also personally don't see the big deal, most cartoons don't have normal aging protagonists.
Pokemon is a classic and classics that you can revisit at any age are usually timeless just like Ash (at least until the money runs out)
I like to think that Ash is the Doctor (Doctor Who) of Pokemon. From the games to the anime, new personalities, looks, etc. Perfect.
there is a trainer who is said to be the docter.
he looks like TENnant, the tenth doctor, and says he has some kind of mission to protect the world. i don't know which game he apears in but im guessing diamond and pearl (and platinum), since that is about the space/time pokemon.
and that he needs to deafet them to save the world, but when you win, he sees you are strong enough to take them on.
Now I'm going to be going through all the trainers in my Pokemon Pearl, just to see if I can find him.
jilles13nl His name is Looker.
"Tim Duncan never ages" LOLLL
Fullmetal Alchemist. The one thing I never expected to see in a Pokemon video.
i think the ho-oh theory is the most believable one.
+CaptainGrovyle me to:)
Funny to think that Red and Blue and arround their 20s in Sun and Moon.
Same with Hilbert and Hilda from BW, who were 16 at the time of BW2.
It's so obvious!
Ash was born on February 29th!
LOL
but by the time he would have got his first pokemon, he would be forty.
Exactly! He hides his grey hair under his hat! Well, what little grey hair he has :P
Realistic Pokemon:
Ash arrives in Unova with his Pokemon that should be at least level 70 from Sinnoh, since that's the level you're supposed to be in when you finish the Sinnoh games, along with a level 100 Pikachu, and burns down the homes of the Level 12 gym leaders.
maybe the reason why Ash never ages is because.... he's actually peter pan in disguise. :P
lol
***** i thought he ate too much sprinkles
THAT GOD DAMN MOTHER FUCKING SNIVY I SWARE TO GOD ILL sry sry flew off the handle bars a bit my bad guys...
Yu-Gi-Oh has that thing where they change up the characters after every series and so does battle spirits
man, Ash must have one heck of a year.
i not really care about Ash's age much but the fact he still a noob all this time is annoying...
do you even english?
Zirus not everyone in the internet can speak english you know...
LOL I just tried to favorite this video AGAIN. That's how much I loved it. You're witty and entertaining, keep it up!
Kinda weird that I'm watching a 'subscribe to JWittz' ad...
On JWittz's channel...
When I'm already subscribed to him... _Nice job Google Ads..._
Coma theory: maybe if he won the tournament he wouldn't get the same joy of trying it, and there would be less to live for. Don't dump some explanations on me, I'm just trying to speculate on how that COULD work. It's just a theory, a gaming theory.
Respond if you get the reference :D
Digimon did a good job of bringing the original kids back having aged a little each time, and having more mature personalities.
pause the video at 2:08, take a screenshot, print the screen on a colour printer, and stick it on your room
It's kind of an accepted theory that James Bond is a codename.
Ash had one HELL of a year.
Sorry I mean he IS having.
Was Brock the same age as Ash is season 1? He had a really deep voice, but if he was older, why was he hanging out with a 10 year old?
I'm also curious how old May, Max, and Misty are now.
Brock was hanging out with Ash because Brock (supposedly 16 in the anime) is a true bro. As a side note, I always thought he was 20-something.
nope Brock was fifteen at the start of his debate on the pokemon anime
The other theory I could think of as to why he does not age, is the first movie where he fights Mewtwo. After he took the blast from both Mew and Mewtwo, maybe something happened there that stopped him from aging. After all he did take 2 attacks from legendary Pokemon, and was brought back to life with Pikachu's tears.
what if ash is like nurse joy and there are many of them and all the series happened the same time :o
nice speculation but how does get all the pokemon from other regions
THEDEMENTEDONE01 pokemon logic. that's how
He does't he mearly has many of that pokemon that can use transform he then proceeded to cheat the pokedex that or there is some sort of poke exploder that spawned them
I don't even watch Pokemon but I watched the whole thing. Not bad.
In the original language, Ash confirms he has 15 years old, in the American version they lied and always keeps him at the age of 10.
what series/episode?
my bad, I said "Ash confirms" I meant the narrator, it's the same episode that appears in this video where the narrator says "Ash Ketchum, 10 year old etc"
no it doesnt in japanese it says this is masara town in the kanto region, one of the boys living in this town is satoshi, who is 10 years old, he is 10 in japan aswell
Well regarding James Bond, I like there theory that James Bond is a codename and that's why there's multiple of them. I know in Skyfall, I think it's Skyfall, it contradicts this but still.
I would have to agree with the Ho-Oh theory, actually.
minecraft
Maybe every series has a different Ash altogether. They could just be sharing a name, a Pikachu, and their mom's names in common.
Link mode much?
Yeah like that. Although, some of the Links are the same (OoT to MM, the original the number 2, and a few others at that).
If it did, then the Ho-Oh theory is what I am going with.
nintendomario007 Well Ash did say something like another memory we have made in another region so......... Prob the Ho-Oh theory
Also Prof. Oak ages, because in Pokemon 4ever they show his child self.
thing is Ash doesn’t _act_ 10. he’s pretty mature for his age. i’d day he acts (as of XYZ and S/M) about 13-16
What about Ash being turned into stone in the pokemon movie by mew and mewtwo, and then being well unstoned by the tears of the pokemon, maybe thats why he is forever 10. idk just another theory
i get it
but ill make it more sence. when mew and mewtwo turned ash to stone. the pokemon crying didnt work. its what he thoght it did. and thats why he never ages. another coma thery exept stone added
Or you know the writers just want ash to be 10 forever to meet the age of the target audience of the show.
akaRyan FAN THEORY BRO LOOK IT UP
zach rasey *woosh*
no I got wat ur saying but these are fun fan theory's not cannon that's wat I was saying to u man
I just remembered how fun my childhood was. Good times.
Maybe he's holding a ever stone. If pokemon can stop evolving while holding it, maybe it can stop humans ageing. Just a theory...
A GAME THEORY.
Sorry. I couldn't help it.
O_o imagine when that ever stone is taken away... He'll just wither into a (very) old man, and since humans are pokemon (game theory) and pokemon's can't die, only faint, he will forever be something like.... Uh..... 100000ish maybe a bit more
So he's like mother gothel, vainly holding on to his magic stone instead of sharing with those who need it.
Night Wing In the games pokemon die. The music to that was so depressing
*FlawlessLogic*
Perhaps he has an everstone in his kidney because he ate too much dust from loosing to battles.
When you mentioned a series using new protagonists every season while bringing back aged previous protagonists, I thought you were going to bring up Digimon even if it was only the 2nd season that did that.
well, as far as I remember, every single pokemon episode ends with sunset, so, we have 826 episodes now, right, wich it makes Ash be 12 years old.
Nope. There's another video on this. It's legit. He's suppose to be 16.
mimato I watched like 5 videos bout his age. I would like it to be 16 (I don't watch the anime, but meh), but if is as I stated, well...
xXAndreLink91Xx Check protomarios theory out on this it seems like its legit enough to bury the topic for the while.
xXAndreLink91Xx some episodes skips a few days, like when they stay a week in a certain area. So it's more than 826 days
Wolfsoulll we also have to count the League (wich sometimes takes 3 episodes for a single battle) and the Gym battles (sometimes they take 2 episodes)
Ash's dream of happiness, because he saw Ho-Oh, is never growing up so his adventures with his Pokemon would never end.
I actually kinda like the Ash's coma theory, is it perfect(or better yet canon?)? No, but It's a interesting theory that a guy like me enjoy's reading.
Driver San Fransisco
Tim Duncan never ages LOL
Watching this in a post-Ash world is crazy. First time I watched this was in 2014 in the 4th grade and now im starting my second year of college. Crazy how time flies lol
