Dude. Nine was the one trying to repair the tears caused by Eggmens portals. He needed Sonic's prism energy to do that. Sonic was the one prolonging the damage because he wouldn't cooperate with Nine. Think about it. Sonic had no plan. If he beats Nine, they all die. Only Nine knows how to work shatter tech.
