Because of Prime the discussion of Sonic's "true" character has once again resurfaced. Whether you believe Sonic and the Black Knight portrays Sonic's "true" character, or whether you believe Sonic has never had one "true" character, I think there is one thing that needs to be understood regardless of where you stand. One interpretation of Sonic does not invalidate the others. Is there a "true" Sonic? Yes, the true Sonic will always be the one you enjoyed, the one who inspired you, and the one who made you want to share that joy with others.

Shadow was done right in this show. He wasn’t too broody, he isn’t a complete jerk, he understands that sonic is important and is willing to help him and do what is right. He doesn’t just fight for no reason but for a reason he believes to be right. It felt like they actually took the shadow from sonic adventure 2 and mostly imported him into this show
The fact that we didn’t even SEE the Boscage this season-my favorite world-is kinda frustrating and a good idea of how (at least IMO) there’s so much potential wasted
Ironically i did watch the season all again and i felt it was better the second time around. I also feel if i go through the older episodes knowing whats going to happen, I'll pick up things i missed, especially character wise. When i sit back not seeing what's going to happen and not thinking to hard into it, i feel i like this season better. Seson 3 high points are really "peak" and good, which does save it overall . But season 2 is more well-rounded. And overal the whole series gives every character a solid arc which is veeery hard to pull off so kudos! It's definitely something I'd love to watch all over again and again! But in the future (if they continue), they can build on the criticism for sure
this show could’ve been honestly one of the best netflix cartoons but i feel like season 3 let it down and they just dragged on the fight too much it was really underwhelming
All I can theorize about the closure of the other shatterspaces is that according to Sonic, they came back 20 seconds before the shatter. Only the second time, Sonic missed, and Shadow chaos controlled the paradox prism out of the cave, so I think they altered the timeline, so now I don’t think the other shatterspaces exist anymore. As for the explosion at the end, stories end with a beginning of different events all the time. Maybe the explosion at the end was something completely unrelated to the paradox prism. Maybe what we thought was a cliffhanger was truly an officially solid ending that brought the whole story of the series full circle.
In the middle honestly, I enjoyed myself watching this season, but the more I think about the season, the worse it becomes
I really loved when the different versions of Amy becoming sisters was amazing!!!!! I was also hoping Shadow got the prism power just like sonic did in the end of Season 3
I havent seen this season yet but I heard its really reptitive and also wish they spent more time on the sonic and tails sprite animations

Not having Prism Sonic complete for the finale was SUCH a missed opportunity. Like yea the writing could've been much better, and that's a big bummer, but the ending neither felt complete or climactic. There was no memorable part of the fight other than maybe Shadow saying he's the ultimate life form. If they were going for spectacle and scale with this finale, they should've gone all the way
There were many problems with Season 3, but one that I haven't seen anyone talk about yet is the big missed opportunity with Rusty Rose. When the first episode revealed the bird inside her, it shocked me. I thought the show was opening the doors to a huge moral dilemma that we had never seen before with Sonic (though implied with Gamma in SA1). I thought that Rusty was once an ordinary citizen injured in an accident and gave herself up to the Chaos Council in exchange for saving her, but also turned her into their robotic slave. I thought that the organic Amy was possibly still in there under the control of a robotic brain and wondered what kind of moral conundrums about having the flicky in place of her heart would result if she were to break free of its control. Would she sacrifice herself to save the bird inside her? But then the robot Rusty Rose turns good in Season 2 and joins the pirates. Okay. Is the real Amy still in there or is Rusty just controlling a dead corpse? IS that the real Amy? Then why does she talk like a computer? Is she not a cyborg and is all robot? Well that doesn't seem to make sense. Are we just gonna forget about the bird powering her?! The same questions remained in Season 3 until near the end when they pull a bait-and-switch, kid-friendly cop-out. In just one scene, Rusty out of nowhere brings up to some random robot that can't even process what she's saying that the bird wasn't powering her at all! The Chaos Council just wanted her to... think that? WHAT?! What sense does that make?! What reason would the Chaos Council have for making Rusty think she's powered by a bird? Why did they even bother putting the bird there? It seems like the writers were going for something impactful and morally challenging but then chickened out at the last second.
Holy crap someone who actually noticed this. Another issue I had with the season was Mangey who has never interacted with technology before, suddenly becomes more adept than the ENTIRE Chaos Council and Dread whose arc was leading him to be a better captain and finally choose his friends over treasure, saves his friends and IMMEDIATELY gives up his captain position...
I think it was Netflix shenanigans cause I think they did it with the Cuphead show and others. Don't quote me. Netflix wanted this many by this deadline and that's what we got. But yeah this season felt rushed.(like a lot of Sonic productions.) I felt the Chaos Council were the better villains of the show in my opinion cause Nine, was just Tails but darker and misunderstood, like Shadow. (Shadow carried the Show no question about it.) Nine could've been a good villain but, due to rush eh. Ian Hanlin, Devan Mack, should be Sonic and Shadow in the games, I mean come on Sega! I through out this entire series loved Shadow. He's the G.O.A.T in this series. I wish he was in it MORE! So to conclude Sonic Prime is not my top show. That's Sonic X dub don't at me. But this was a close 3rd. Still waiting on Knuckles Paramount!
I agree with everything you just said. Although the show could’ve handled better, instead we got an 06 “events erased” except this time sonic and shadow remembered. When fadel doesn’t like something you know it’s bad. Although as always, Shadow is the best character and after that infamous “cowards run. I win.” Shadow has literally said “we have to run” and I hope this characterization continues in the games and evolves him moving forward. Also, knux and rebel was my favorite knuckles and rouge variants. For the next show, I wish we get one that has pretty much has all the IDW cast, and what I hope is we get an adventure maybe in silver or blaze’s worlds. and yes I would also love a Team Dark show as well.
When Netflix announced that it was made for 24 episodes for Sonic Prime, this is why. Also, I still can’t get over the fact that with all of the locales most games and supplementary media has built for the franchise, they just have Green Hill which it is a part South Island. I just wanted to see West Side Island which I feel had a lot of broader sense of scale than what South Island has brought up.
My opinion on this season is kinda similar to yours. It had a lot of good moments, but the pacing really brings it down and, to be honest, the ending kinda brings down the entire show for me. It doesn’t make it BAD, but I doubt I would watch it again because of the resolution being a letdown.
But of course, like you said, the animation throughout was very good and the voice cast did an excellent job. Even if it wasn’t perfect, I still had fun watching the show and I don’t regret my time with it despite its flaws.
Also, wasn’t expecting the Fadel cameo here 😅. I had never seen him so genuinely upset over something Sonic related before.
The biggest problem of Sonic Prime was how it utilized the Multiverse. When you're dealing with the multiverse, there's a lot of fun interesting things you can do with it yet Prime usage of it was pretty boring. New Yolk City was fun, but Boscage Maze and Nowhere were pretty boring and gimmicky. And of all the multiverse Varisnts, Nine was the most interesting one since he tackled a concept that fans have always pondered "What if Tails never met Sonic?" Rusty Rose was cool at first but she was never explored as much as she should have been. There’s also the missed opprtunity of not getting to meet any variants of Sonic himself.
Honestly, three show should have just taken place in New Yolk City since that was the most interesting and fleshed out universe.
Sonic Prime season 3 was somehow simultaneously my favorite season, and the one I was most disappointed by. I enjoyed it more than the other ones personally but my expectations were way higher than the other seasons and it didn’t really deliver.
I was mostly mixed about this as like I do see what the ending is suppost to be their just isn't enough in the show to say that it's a "And the Adventure continues" or a "Off to the next Adventure" kind of ending, but like with like no shot to say who Team Sonic was going to fight, it's there a shockwave a shadow. Who is the shadow, what is next? Nothing, like bro, he ending I thought I think would've been a lot better with it starting with Sonic bringing a plate of Seadogs And Shadow along, everyone is surprised, Shadow says he hid the prism so Eggman can't find it and then the Eg Fleet shows up, Team Sonic and Shadow pose and begin to fight. We then cut to Nine, Rusty, and dread in the Bosgage Maze, they drop off the Bosage crew and ask whats next, the say their going to look for the legendary hero and Nine and theothers leave. we're on a new Angels voyage fully repaired as the pirates say their going to look for the old Pirate King. Nine and Rusty make back to New Yoke with the Egg in complete flames. Rusty says the Concil mostly deadly prisonor was freed, as their ship is taken down as the ship crashes down, Nine sees the prisonor and sees its, Sonic

I agree 💯 with u. Im not mad with the show just bcos the ending is a bit underwhelming. I still find it enjoyable cuz it has such a great moment/character. Im hoping for more from this universe.
Maybe Sega will continue the story through the new game. So, maybe we can get a closure of it.
I feel season 3 would've been received a little better if the whole show was just one season instead of 3.
I mean, it's not perfect, but for the most part, this is a great show. After years of disappointing Sonic content, this is a breath of fresh air. Too bad there's not, like, one more secret episode to introduce proper closure, but still.

Haven't watched S3 but heard enough of the mix reviews and honestly its depressing cuz literally back at 2021/22 when the Sonic projects was announced, I was mostly hype for Prime because of it's concept. Especially since the writers hype up Prime being a self discovery story for Sonic and being the show that strengthen the ip, I was excited for the show. The writers had multiple of creative ideas for the story, characters, and zones yet we end up with this disappointment. Listen S1 has flaws but I gave it a chance and thought S2 would get better especially with Shadow n new dimensions. S2 didn't do that n instead shafted Shadow and stuck with reskins of Green hill. S2 wasn't a total waste since the ending was also interesting and I thought they might have something going for S3. But after hearing the mix reviews, it's just depressing Prime just ended like this. If Prime as a whole can be summarized in 3 words then I would give it this. Repetitive, uncreative, and miss potential. I don't want to give all negative points to Prime cuz ya it still offers good fights, good writing for Shadow n Nine, and overall good voice acting for Sonic n gang. While Prime ain't something that I wanted out of a Sonic show and I expected better after what the writers have hype up about back in 2021/22, still Prime is just fundamentally a 7 out of 10 kids show. Not a bad thing since at least Prime will entertain them, especially after Prime is getting top 10 on Netflix. Still wish Prime was more than PBS Avengers Endgame but if kids sees Prime as their first dope Avengers endgame then that's a good thing for them and overall bring in more fans to the Sonic fandom like the past Sonic shows. Still hope Sega/Sonic Team pitch in a new Sonic show (2d) and basically do the opposite of what Prime offered. Only thing I would bring is the actors but if yall want a good animated fight scenes n story, then Sega should go to studios like Flying Bark or try out a Japanese studio tho.
Tbh I didn’t like S3. It was real repetitive and (I can’t believe I’m saying this) a bit boring. It was boring to watch the characters just fighting for 3 whole episodes and just lead to no excitement, I had high expectations for this show and they were completely crushed, sure the character development was nice but it didn’t give me the feeling I felt when watching Season 1 and 2. Overall I feel like this season was rushed (since it had SEVEN EPISODES instead of eight) and not really enjoyable in my opinion
