      You can make heavy cream using milk + butter. Also, when the milk comes from the cow, you can sit it on the table and the cream will rise.
      The milk you get from the store does not have that cream because they are forced to remove it (govt. doesn't allow it). You get a LOT of cream from a cow.
      So, it's expensive because they like to rob people of their money. It's nowhere near as expensive as it should be.

    Hello. Thank you for this vedio. It has helped me understand how whipping cream works. I want to try this out but I have a few doughts. Should I heat the milk on low heat or high heat? I also would please like to know whether I should cool the milk in the freezer or the fridge? Could I also be able to make this with just a few cups of milk? I will be very happy if these doughts would be cleared.

    • @OnyxFoodHill
      @OnyxFoodHill  3 роки тому +3

      You are welcome.
      Heat it on low heat, high heat burns the milk once it starts to boil.
      Just cool it anywhere that's convenient for you. You can even cool it on the flour just that it takes much time.
      No, few cups of milk will not yield anything tangible. At least 2 to 3 litres will do.
      And after scooping the fat the first time you can reheat the milk again and again to get as much fat as needed.

    Does this work with almond milk and coconut milk????

    • @OnyxFoodHill
      @OnyxFoodHill  3 роки тому +3

      Yes you extract cream from almonds and coconut too but you are not going to heat up the milk like you for cow's milk.
      Blend your coconut in a blender, add water to extract the juice. Let coconut milk sit in the fridge or freezer overnight, scoop the thick frozen milk that is formed on the surface and that is your cream.
      For almond you only need very little water to blend it after that you can strain the milk with a fine material and store in the fridge, it will thicken up as it sits.

    Is the milk pasteurized or not?
    Asking because I am confused which one to use.
    I have both easily available and would love to know which one is needed

    • @OnyxFoodHill
      @OnyxFoodHill  3 роки тому +5

      Pasteurised milk simply has been heated to destroy microorganisms before storage. Unpasteurised has not been heated and is directly collected from the animal.
      This milk that I used was unpasteurised but heating it up has pasteurised it.
      So the main issue is for the milk to have whole fats, that is, it has not been skimmed.

    • @OnyxFoodHill
      @OnyxFoodHill  Рік тому +1

      The milk doesn't need to be frozen, if you have enough time you can leave it to cool down naturally on its own. Then go ahead and scoop out the fat on the surface.
      You can heat the milk again and again until you have gotten all the cream out.
      What will be left after all the cream is removed is known as skimmed milk.

      I like something simple and which does not consume much electric units. The lighter it is, the better for you to hold and maneuver.
      You can maintain it by cleaning with a dry clothe and oiling the metallic parts with any cooking oil to prevent rusting.

    I am not sure why the praising comments for.. already everyone knows how to extract heavy cream from milk.. but a in much better easy way you can add 1 cup of melted butter to 2 cups of warm %3 milk and beat them with the egg beater for about 5 minutes and cool it, you wil get 3 cups of nice heavy cream milk
