Welcome, my fellow Weirdman. You are embarking on (along with many others - over 210 million views just on their official YT channel, plus over 40 million reactor plays!) an awesome, progressive, hard-rock journey with 5 incredible women. Here's my intro blurb for those who may be new to Band-Maid:
BAND-MAID’s songs and sound beat with the heart and soul of all rockers. But you’ll also hear heavy influences of Prog, Punk, Metal and Pop, with nice touches of Blues, Jazz, Funk and Grunge. Sometimes they use multiple genres within the same song. Their Composition, Execution, Joy of Playing, Consistency (130+ songs), Uniqueness, Charisma, Charm and, oh yeah, Cuteness factor, position them as becoming the hard rock Beatles of our time! In other words, they’re destined for mega-stardom. Each member's personalities are super interesting and their musicianship among the best. Their writing, arrangements and overall sound, especially guitar tones and drums, are kick-ass! Having seen them LIVE, I can honestly say their performance, sound, stage appearance, and band synergy is off-the-rails spectacular! Band-Maid is the only band in decades where I love nearly EVERY song they’ve done. I have over 70 favorites! "Thrill" (2014) is a great place to start: ua-cam.com/video/Uds7g3M-4lQ/v-deo.html Their songs from albums Unleash, Unseen World, Conqueror, World Domination, Just Bring It, Brand New Maid, and New Beginning drive even more - Hate?, Shambles, Influencer, Warning, No God, Different, Black Hole, Rinne, Blooming, Moratorium, Domination, Clang, Dice, Spirit, Don’t You Tell Me, Turn Me On, Fate, Play, You, Hide-And-Seek, Secret My Lips, Puzzle, Choose Me, I Can’t Live Without You, and on and on. But don’t miss out on their powerful, beautifully written, mid-tempo songs like Daydreaming, Bestie, About Us, Memorable, Anemone, Endless Story, PAGE, At The Drop Of A Hat, Mirage and Smile... or more punky like After Life, Don’t Let Me Down and Screaming… or funky like Bubble… or bluesy like Manners and The Dragon Cries… or poppy like Start Over… or a bit jazzy like Wonderland… or progressive like No God, Giovanni, and Black Hole… or cultural like the Band-Maiko series… or instrumentals like From Now On, Don’t Be Long, Onset, Without Holding Back and Going Nuts… or their many acoustic versions like Catharsis and Sayonakidori... and last but not least, their Anime hits (AniMaid) like Protect You, Sense, Different, Glory and Unleash!!!!! (from their own Anime MV (series?)): ua-cam.com/video/7LB_EPS48HE/v-deo.html) And many songs are represented with over 50 well produced music videos. ua-cam.com/users/BANDMAID Most performances should be experienced from their LIVE audience & online OKYUJI concerts: 2023 Yokohama 10th Year Anniversary Concert “Endless Story” ua-cam.com/video/Za1y-RRVd70/v-deo.html ONLINE OKYU-JI (Feb. 11, 2021) “No God” ua-cam.com/video/nAdWnIRjGak/v-deo.html Tokyo's LINE CUBE SHIBUYA (February 14, 2020) “Domination” ua-cam.com/video/QbyQCJn6rYg/v-deo.html ZEPP 2018 “Real Existence” ua-cam.com/video/-qQnKILR5u0/v-deo.html Shinkiba Studio Coast 2017 and other full concerts are on bandmaidprime.tokyo, bili, and official Band-Maid’s DVD/BD/CD. I'll go back and see an older song like YOLO, Order, Shake That, Freezer, Don’t Let Me Down, Before Yesterday, Real Existence, Non Fiction Days and Alone, etc. and realize there's no band that can consistently construct and play like Band-Maid. At 30 and the youngest, “Sensei” (Teacher) as band members call her, has the last word on many musical decisions. High-heels or sneakers, Sai-chan’s smile melts away her sometimes perceived, coldish persona. Saiki’s powerhouse performances, charisma, and voice focus the experience that’s driven her to the top echelon of hard rock frontwomen... or frontmen! Miku Kobato (Me-Ku) "Small Pigeon" - Rhythm guitar, vocals, lyricist, 32 years old. “Koba”, as Saiki calls her, is the Band founder and a firecracker MC & PR SpokesPigeon, po! Her “Magic Spell Time” charm and energy ignite the room. Kuruppo! No, no, no… KURUPPO!! Kanami Tono (Ka-Na-Me) “Princess” - Lead guitar, keyboards, 32 years old, is a prolific writer of most Band-Maid material. Kanami (translates “Song Wave”) is a possessed riff-slayer who’s so damn adorable it hurts. The only thing you want from Mincho is more! Akane Hirose (A-Ka-Nay) "Gorilla" - Drums, 33 years old, band energizer & co-clown with MISA. Achi’s talents include massive consumption of noodles and bananas, of course, (even during performance!) while revolutionizing rock drumming with relentless drive, dynamics and the kick. This “DrumZilla” is the Party! MISA (Me-Sa) "Barefoot Assassin" - Bass, 31 years old. An alluring free spirit driving her 5-string to rapturous low-ends while pulling off surprising counter leads with Kanami, off-stage MISA is the band’s goofball ballerina. Sometimes seen as the Mysterious One because she lets her instrument do the talking, the Assassin literally kills it… every note... uniting Band-Maid’s world-class rhythm section. A slug of JB, a slight grin, and let the slappin’ begin… MISA! MISA! MISA! Maidiacs (Maid-e-acts) - Band-Maid’s crazed yet supportive, knowledgeable and loyal Super Fans. Thank you *Roger Chance* for spreading the word of *BAND-MAID* 🍺😁 ----------------------------------------- _The Carrier Pigeons delivering the message of _*_BAND-MAID_*_ to the World_
Aussie Maidiac here, I worked in the Oz music scene on and off for a couple of decades, gave music away because it all became tainted by toxic ego's and BS, then a few years ago I tumbled onto BAND-MAID and holy fck the whole passion came back. Mate this band is the real deal and are the top tier of the top tier and there's no BS or toxicity just 5 incredible musical unicorns who are a real Rock Sisterhood. I'm gonna sub to support a fellow Aussie and one who's B-M journey I want to follow and the more Aussies we get following these amazing women the more chance they'll tour here, cheers 👍🍻
Another Aussie, it has been a long time waiting for a tour, at this point I think I'll need to go see them in Japan. Kanami's the best rock composer of the last 10 years imo, but the whole band talent is amazing.
@@Sp0ticus I hear you and yep I've got Japan in my sights but in 2025 I'll go wherever the Maids will be, they are the only thing on my bucket list and I 100 percent agree with you on Kanami, what a band, any band is lucky to get one musical unicorn in it but mind blowing to me is all five of the Maids are musical unicorns, they are also a strong sisterhood who are truly grateful to their fanbase, but hey you know that 😁 the best band of my life, cheers from Townsville 😀🍻
Welcome & thanks from Japan 有難う💛。 My wife and I witnessed this very performance at the venue on Nov.26, last year. Very exciting 3-hour-40-minute-long show with 33-song setlist. We were in bliss (and happy fatigue thereafter 😄). Band-Maid is one of the best bands in our country, especially in live performance. We say "Japan is the country obsessed by Rock Music". The history is very long and the obsession started in 1966 when Beatles visited Japan and held 5 concerts at Budokan. Speaking of hard rock / heavy metal music, a number of bands started to come to Japan since as early as 1970s : Led Zeppelin / Grand Funk Railroad (1971), Deep Purple (1972), Queen (1975), Kiss (1977), Cheap Trick / Van Halen / Scorpions (1978), Judas Priest (1978/79) and so on. Now, any type of rock can be enjoyed here, especially by many all-female or women-fronted bands. They are daughters of American / European rock, for sure. (Many are grand-daughters in terms of age.) Uh-oh, we also say "Japan is the country obsessed by Jazz". It had started earlier than rock 😄
🐦 *My Kind Of Weird* 🐦 Welcome to the world of *BAND-MAID* (2013 - Present) A group of 5 young ladies from Japan that will rock your world: *Miku Kobato* (Kuruppo) = Lead Vocals / Rhythm Guitar *(Po!)* *Saiki Atsumi* (Sai-Chan) = Lead Vocals / Piano *Kanami Tono* (Kanamincho) = Lead Guitarist *Akane Hirose* (A-Chan) = Drummer *MISA* (MISA, MISA, MISA) = Bassist If you wish to continue down this Pigeon Hole 😊 you will enjoy over 100+ great songs you will start saying to yourself “This is my favorite *BAND-MAID* song”. _(No joke Po!)_ Below is a list of songs that will get you started alone (Official Music Video) Choose me (Official Music Video) HATE? (Official Live Video) Blooming (Official Music Video) YOLO (Official Music Video) the non-fiction days (Official Music Video) I discovered *BAND-MAID* in 2019 and came to a realization that *BAND-MAID* more then just a rock band they are a band that does not have any boundaries and is willing experiment into different genre from (Blues, Rock, Punk and Jazz) and a lot of fans including me would say “you got to check out their live videos” from: 2017-STUDIO COAST 2018-Zepp Tokyo 2020-LINE CUBE SHIBUYA 2021-BAND-MAID ONLINE ACOUSTIC In the end I realize that *BAND-MAID* more then just a band but a band that cares about each other and their fan base and in October of 2022 I had a fortune of experiencing them live and with that *BAND-MAID* cemented their Legacy into my heart. Rock On! 🤘 *100% satisfaction guarantee or your money back…*
Band-Maid spent a little over one year on tour between the US and Japan for their 10yr anniversary. They'll melt your face then melt your heart. Stay with them because these girls are for real....
Welcome to the amazing world of Band-Maid. Great reaction Master MY KIND OF WEIRD...! (BTW, the Maids call their fans Masters and Princesses). If you like the bass, then Band-Maid is definitely the band for you. As you noticed, MISA is world class and the band members have no egos, as everyone does what best serves the song. And in the case of Band-Maid, MISA is always allowed to shine...like everyone else in the band. Band-Maid's discography is deep and diverse, so you will have an fantastic musical journey with them. Master Roger Chance suggested "Dice" OMV. That is a great next song. And then maybe an amazing instrumental...try "Onset" Official Live MV, since you mentioned you like the bass. With this one, watch MISA closely...her picking to slapping transitions are magic... PO!🕊 🤘😆🤘
Welcome to pigeon hole call Band-Maid! Please keep reacting! You won’t hear a bad song and that their +120 discography! Also give a shout out to Akane (drummer) for driving that Hate? train! 🤘🕊️🦍🥷👸🏻👀PO!
Welcome to Band-Maid! The best hard rock band I have heard in my 58 years on this planet. While they don't class themselves as a metal band, they don't stick to any one genre and often mix genres in songs. They are extremely diverse and have an extensive back catalogue featuring Punk, Pop-Punk, Hard-Rock, Classic Rock, Metal, Prog, Blues, Jazz, Groove, Rap etc. From face melting 220 bpm punk-prog mayhem to ballads, instrumentals to acoustics they do it all. They can make you headbang, they can make you pogo, they can make you cry like a baby. They are also five of the nicest people in music, without a shred of ego. They are funny and fun and world class musicians to boot. They are currently into their 12th year with the original line up. Btw, Miku the rhythm guitarist (red rose) formed the band. She had the idea of Band-Maid after working as a maid in Japanese maid cafe's. Her idea is a concept called "The Gap" - that is what you see (cute maids) is NOT what you get (Hard Rock/Punk/Metal). They take the maid café concept literally. They call their concerts "servings" and their fans "Masters and Princesses". Oh, and Miku is an 810 year old small pigeon. Welcome to the pigeon hole Po!
@@Davey-Boyd Lol. And she's got the purple fringe now too. Did you ever see the epic custom guitars i designed for them? They were for an April fools joke but Mr B never showed them. Miku has a 7 string Zemaitis.😁
11 years and 130+ songs of pure greatness 💥 They have it all..Passion Work Heart Talent Groove 🔥❤️ I was working about 30 years in rockbusiness, seen few thousand gigs and NEVER seen or heard BETTER band than Band-Maid. Magical band, amazing musicians, best friends. Greatest band in history of rock. Thank you for reacting Band-Maid 🙏🏻❤️
Hey Anthony I requested ‘Dice’ five days ago on your Linkin Park reaction and I still see it. You also replied back to me. Anyways thanks for checking out our maids! 🍺😁🤘🏻🕊️
Ah whoops. Sorry dude couldn’t find the reply. It got buried amongst others. But thanks once again for the recommend. Keep them coming. (I might have to start screen shotting all the recommendations that come my way and keep in a separate folder so this doesn’t happen again)
Best rock band on the planet. Play anything, it's all good. You might like Morotorium live next. They play any genre, and write their own music. If you really want to hear Misa (bass) go at it watch NO GOD live. I like the online version from a couple of years ago for sound clarity.
Japanese hard rock band -- excellent guitar, bass, and drums. They are themed on Japanese maid cafes -- their costumes and their interaction with audience. Sadly they have never toured Australia -- still waiting here for that. Lots of touring in the US and some in Europe, and of course East Asia. You might like "Rinne", "Manners/Black Hole" (double feature with funky Manners, chaotic and fast Black Hole), the instrumental "From Now On". They do play intros or outros for anime shows -- "Sense" and a number of others.
Thank you for your wonderful comment. Some American people say that "Rock was born in America, grew in England, and was perfected in Japan!" I think that "Rock has entered a new era in Japan!" In addition to this group, there are many other great groups active in Japan. Please enjoy it.
A thing about the maid outfits, Mr. Weird :-) as Fans and Maidiacs know, Miku -- the 2nd guitarist, lyricist, founder and who worked at a maid cafe -- wanted to show that everyday working "Kawaii" girls dressed as maids in high heels while having fun and smiling could rock as hard as any guy band sweating it up in their hip, poor tortured artists "outfits"... and by showing that contrast (the Gap), it would generate interest, which it so successfully has done! It also represents Woman Power (Equality), which is an important theme with the Maids. Now they show up as Maids for all band business and interviews, etc. and have created a long-lasting, unmistakable, visual band brand. Very cleaver, Miku. Your diabolical plan for world domination is working, Po! Of course, none of this would work if their music and stage performance wasn't at such a remarkably high level. Band-Maid is considered by many of their fans and Maidiacs to be the best hard rock band in the world - maid outfits and all!
It's a play off the uniforms worn at the traditional Japanese Maid Cafe's. The have adjusted their outfits quite a bit over the last few years, so most of them are wearing a maid inspired style of outfit.
Thanks for nice reaction and for support the Band Maid. However, If you like strictly power and thrash metal music, there is another fantastic all -female Japanese band called Lovebites, five ladies extremely talented and skillful. I suggest you take a look at their YT channel where you will find all the videos you want, even the very recent ones (I recommend "Soldier stands solitarily" LIVE 2023). Personally I am a fan of both Band Maid and Lovebites, according to their different musical genre
The Japanese metal/rock scene is the best in world currently with the all-female bands leading the way. There are some immensly talented bands coming out of Japan with elite musicianship. Lovebites, Nemophila, Hanabie + as you just saw/heard Band-Maid are all incredible (+there are others). If you really want some "what have I been missing" moments just dive deeper into these bands. It's truly impressive.
While Band-Maid is considered a hard rock group, they incorporate many genres of rock music in their songs. Most introductions to Band-Maid is through their hard rock songs., but they do write, produce , and record several beautiful rock ballads. They have also performed an acoustic on-line Christmas Okyu-ji (concert/offering) in December 2021. They are also well worth reacting. Nearly every song in their more that 130 song discography is great listening. Band-Maid recently recorded and did an officlal musical video collaboration with The Warning, an all-female rock band from Mexico. Believe me it's a banger. The song is titled "Show Them" and has been released on the Band-Maid official UA-cam channel.
Best rock band on the planet. Their 9th studio album was released yesterday (UK time), September 25th. Only about another 130 songs to check out. Oh, and they also play acoustic versions of some of their songs too.
Excellent and detailed reaction, subbed! I hope you react to more Band-Maid soon. Lots of good suggestions in the comments... and it doesn't matter which you pick, every song is amazing. For real.
Fellow Aussie and Maidiac for the past 8 years. This band has been a big part of my life lately as it has reignited my love of music. Hoping that they decide to tour in Australia one day. I will be there for every venue.
Metalhead , Welcome to BAND-MAID the look on your face when they started was great , enjoy your journey down the Pigeon hole , MISA !!! MISA !!! MISA !!! the Barefoot Bass Assassin .

The only other band i put on these girls level right now is The Warning. Thankfully both bands are fans of each other and are great friends. They did a collaboration together that is pretty cool
Band-Maid is the happiest and most charming hard rock band currently touring. I saw them live twice in 2023: they really know how to put on a live show and totally engage their audience. "Puzzle" live from Tokyo Garden Theater is another facet of Band-Maid, but this band plays all kinds of rock: pop-punk, prog, folk-metal, and they'll surprise you by doing everything they attempt astonishingly well.
Well done reaction and I have subscribed. I liked how you let most of the video continue and only interjected a bit, but saved most of your analysis until the end. I also like that you enlarged the screen for us. We listen because we want your reaction to these women, but we are also coming to listen to them perform as well. It is so nice when a reactor saves it for the end and that way we get the best of both, a great performance and then hopefully a great reaction. Well done again and I am looking forward to following you on your musical journey and hope it will include some more Band Maid as well.😀
Hard rock and metal is going through a stage similar to moto world in the seventies. A number of Japanese factories said "hold my beer let's do this properly". And they crucially have the music education system and infrastructure that allows a bunch of schoolgirls like hanabie (your next stop - their "Pardon me I have to go now") to form a band of mates, to work the Tokyo club circuit while still in school and be touring the world now and killing metalcore with a whole new take. Their lead singer is the size and energy of a honeybadger and roars like a demon.
Love Band-Maid ... my recommendations is all 130+ songs/versions :). They have been my #1 band for many years, I listen ever day. Thanks for sharing your reaction and look forward to more!
You only need to react to another 120 songs and you'll be up to speed. Don't ignore their old songs because they didn't become great they were great from the beginning.
Band Maid🎀 has around 130 songs and you can't find a bad one among them. Some of my favorites, Manners ,Freezer, Warning, Blossom...point is, they all ROCK!😸
8:30 That is Saiki's vocals. Some of their songs have been used for the opening or closing of animes. They also appeared as themselves playing in a club in the movie "Kate".
Sorry, someone should have warned you that MISA MISA MISA plays lead bass ;) . BAND MAID is: Miku Kobato (小鳩 ミク) - rhythm guitar, vocals, PR (Band founder, lyricist ... our flappy pigeon, po!) Kanami Tōno (遠乃 歌波) - lead guitar (musical composer extraordinaire - the princess) Akane Hirose (廣瀬 茜) - drums, percussion (see bananas ... and ramen - the gorilla) Misa - bass guitar (drinks hard liquor and performs without shoes on stage - the barefoot assassin) Saiki Atsumi (厚見 彩姫) - lead vocals ("we dance in the palm of her hand" - Domination - The Queen)
They're on the cover of Japanese rolling stone next month which is a huge deal because the Japanese edition is highly relevant and regarded by young people. Not a place to find a bad ass rock band. Ironically they impressed the USA RS reporter at Lopalooza last year and that impressed the Japanese among other things. So they are becoming A list celebrities in Japan. Not bad for a real rock outfit. I think one of the secrets is that each of them is star material in their own right except that they are a kind of ninja sisterhood who really look after themselves and each other as well as all the creative and business stuff.
I suggest you react to a Japanese metal band called Lovebites, all women, choose any song live, and I'm sure they will surprise you, they never disappoint.
Well they are Fast but they have texture to their songs. The other all female metal Band Lovebites also so fast and talented but uses two guitarists with an Opera singer. Band maid has the edge because of over all sounds but it is close.
Thank you for checking out the greatest rock band on the planet.

Like most Band-Maid songs, I like them from the get-go but really start to appreciate them after more hearings and seeing their LIVE videos. I'll go back and see an older song like YOLO, Order, Shake That, Freezer, Don’t Let Me Down, Before Yesterday, Real Existence, Non Fiction Days and Alone, etc. and realize there's no band that can consistently construct and play like Band-Maid.

Everything you said. 🤘👍❤
(Many are grand-daughters in terms of age.)
Uh-oh, we also say "Japan is the country obsessed by Jazz". It had started earlier than rock 😄

Best rock band on the planet. Play anything, it's all good. You might like Morotorium live next. They play any genre, and write their own music. If you really want to hear Misa (bass) go at it watch NO GOD live. I like the online version from a couple of years ago for sound clarity.
You just heard the best current rock band on the planet !!!!!! Keep listening and you'll see.....
Some pretty perfect rock coming out of Korea as well.

Band Maid! ❤ 🤘🏽

The best live rock band on the planet.
Get yourself a couple of band maid shirts. One day in the future they'll be recognised for the greatness they possess. Rock On.
Add the new Hagane line-up and the new band Nek!
Welcome to *Band Maid!*

Best Band Ever! IMHO
MISA MISA MISA!!!!! MISA uses all methods of playing depending on what the song calls for
Well done reaction and I have subscribed. Well done again and I am looking forward to following you on your musical journey and hope it will include some more Band Maid as well.😀
Awesome. Thanks mate. But yes another Band Maid reaction vid is definitely in the mix!
Groovy!
You only need to react to another 120 songs and you'll be up to speed. Don't ignore their old songs because they didn't become great they were great from the beginning.
Welcome to the fandom!
I think that all the "LA-LA-LA'S" near the end represent all the words they wouldn't let Saiki say. That lady was pissed when she wrote this.
Akane's heroic drumming is 🔥
Sorry, someone should have warned you that MISA MISA MISA plays lead bass ;) .
BAND MAID is:
Miku Kobato (小鳩 ミク) - rhythm guitar, vocals, PR (Band founder, lyricist ... our flappy pigeon, po!)
Kanami Tōno (遠乃 歌波) - lead guitar (musical composer extraordinaire - the princess)
Akane Hirose (廣瀬 茜) - drums, percussion (see bananas ... and ramen - the gorilla)
Misa - bass guitar (drinks hard liquor and performs without shoes on stage - the barefoot assassin)
Saiki Atsumi (厚見 彩姫) - lead vocals ("we dance in the palm of her hand" - Domination - The Queen)
Greetings from Townsville. These ladies are awesome and you've got of catching up ahead of you.
G’day! Thanks for stopping by
welcome to band-maid!
Do you have to listen to at least 20 of their songs to get a handle on them because they are so diverse. The good news is all their songs are awesome!
🤘🤘🤘
Got to check out the band that started the modern era of female bands in Japan...
Do Aldious Spirit Black.
I think you should definitely check out Hanabie. If you're looking for really good weird metal, that's a good one.
If you’re a metal fan,why wouldn’t you listen to LOVEBITES? Song name “soldier Stands Solitarily “2023 LIVE.

Misa is equally brilliant either playing with a pick or slapping, and she can switch quickly and seamlessly between the two methods. ❤🥷
