Discord and scams are like peanut butter and jelly. No matter where you are on Discord: femboy hangout servers, genshin impact servers, or the worst of the worst, my server, you will be a target of a scam at some point.
Now unfortunately for the sake of my sanity, there are a lot of very common Discord scams that people still fall for. Like 50% of my DMs are about scams that I have already talked about (it got so bad I just use keyboard macros to copy and paste responses). To save myself, I made a video showing you common discord scams to look out for.
So now whenever someone sends me a DM about a scam, I can just send them this video. HOWEVER, I can't just be selfish about all of this. So uhh, you can also send this to your tech-illiterate Discord friends so they can learn how to not get scammed on Discord!

The irony of discord having so many scams problems and yet they still have that "joins server for you" for bot 💀
The odd thing is that they ban victims for it too when it is invoked.
Usually things like that keeps some sort of log every time a permission like that is used. So if a user appeals it and goes "my account joined these servers against my will," it would be easily verifiable by greping the said log. But no, they can't do that so they just don't allow appeals.
I had this conversation about the "joins server for you" permissions with some devs. Tell yourself that I was still the only one skeptical about the utility of this permission.
@@lewizooo I still wonder why the yagpdb bot has it.
well the permission is useful for bots like Patreon bot so when you support someone on patreon, it joins their assigned server. but yea keep an eye on any other bots that might have it and remove them
@@ansemik Patreon bot, thats the only utility i also found yeah
"A accidently reported you to discord" -your smart friend

Ain‘t nothing gonna happen anyways - it‘s f***ing Discord
Accidentally reported your steam account is another fun scam
It happened to me and I hate myself for it
Man i fell for it, im such a idiot
As someone actually into game development, with friends also involved in game development, the "test my game" scam is absolutely the worst. Discord's file sharing was really handy for sending unfinished builds and assets back and forth but now it's so strongly associated with scammers.
i acutally fell for that scam since I have a friend who IS going into game development, he got hacked from that (he also has dev friends, so its a big ol loop), but the scammer was so fucking stupid I still had complete access to my account, they tried to buy nitro but i had no money whatsoever in my bank so it didnt work. managed to delete the malware, change my passwords and I was fine.
@@fatknuts Same situation here. They took so long trying to threaten me into sending them money that by the time they finally started to try and do stuff with my accounts I had changed all the passwords. Deleted malware and ended up just being an annoyance during finals
Rule 1: don't click on random links.
Rule 2: If a friend (or even a stranger randomly sends you anything out of the ordinary such as "i accidentally reported you" report them to discord.
Let's skip to R34
Rule 34: if it exists, there's nsfw of it, no matter what
@@paolarei4418This is NOT relevant!!
@@paolarei4418bro skipped a couple rules💀🙏
Rule 3: turn off dms.
If they accidentally reported you, purposefully report them
I've had easily a half-dozen people try the "oops, I think I accidentally reported you to Valve/Steam". They crack me up. Every time they claim it's for an exchange made through a game community involving a game I don't even own. Helps to not own any games that allow for player-to-player exchanges of digital goods.
Sammee, i started calling them out as scammer etc, and they block me instant
Yea its like its for illegal game content trading for CS Go or Team Fortress 2 and its like I dont even play them games so big false.
I do like to play along and waste a few minutes of their day. Every minute wasted could potentially save a true victim
i almost fell for one of these LMFAO
i eventually figured it out and just stole the account and now i use it as my main 😭😭
OOPS!! I accidentally reported you to UA-cam/Google man!!! I'm so sorry look at this proof: \\Google: We gonna ban Blakkrazor69//
Give me your credit card number and password, i will send it to google and they will not ban you
I'm a mod in a server, and the admins above us once thought it would be a great idea for April Fools Day to pretend they got hacked and that the hacker would be sending fake Nitro links, only they would send actual real Nitro. Me and the other mods panicked so hard, trying to figure out how to keep the server safe, and the admins backpedaled really quickly after that
As funny as it seems. It also would be easy way to condition children/teens into falling for scams easier
It's very funny and *almost* a good idea lol. But not quite
free nitro is nitro
@@CranicVT Giving out free Nitro is like driving around in a white van and asking kids if they want candy. 99.9% chance you gonna get kidnapped. There aint no free things in this world
@@user-pe6ct7ut8t what does that have to do with my comment lol
General rule for internet scams: if it's too good to be true, it is. Also, if it's banking on a time limit and fear, like the fake report scam, then it's using that to scare you out of thinking straight and into falling for it.
If you are already not thinking straight cuz you are rushing, stress becomes panic. And it's even easier to fall for scams in those circumstances.
It helps to not put yourself in that scenario but it can happen to anyone.
Time limits, fear, and being panicked into making bad decisions?!? This isn't anything new...It's been the core of UK foreign policy for over 750 years! ⚔🇬🇧😉
The steam account one worked on me. I got my account back but I wasn’t thinking straight due to a fear factor
I'm really disappointed in myself for both falling for the fake nitro and the " I accidentally reported you on steam" scams
someone tried scamming me but it was obvious that it was fake so i was just rapidly telling them that they're a scammer they denied it until i gave up and just blocked them and unblocked them and they never dmed me again lol😆
I almost fell for steam one, but checked at first before clicking the give access to my steam accout in USA. I checked after that with real support, i guess they are banned
dumb ass
@@BurglackOK About ~3 years ago, I got that "Accidentally reported you to Steam" scam and nearly fell for it too. The only thing is, I trust Valve a lot, so I thought that Valve wouldn't just ban me because some guy mass-reported me or something, so I never followed through the scam.
In hindsight, I should've done more to troll them.
Well I guess it's a modern day miracle because I haven't encountered a fake Nitro bot.
I didn't encounter fake nitro one but I did encounter all other ones lol.
Same. By the grace and glory of Jesus
I have not either 😁 waiting for the day
Same, maybe because i don't join in 30 thousand servers
Same
I haven’t come across a scammer yet.
Today on another episode of
PLEASE DISCORD, REMOVE THE "JOIN SERVERS FOR YOU" permission...
I can't believe it is still a problem... like when was your first video about this, over a year ago? *sigh*
Honestly the only function I can see for the feature is for the discord bots. Otherwise, why would anyone need to give external access to manage your account?
oh yes, because the problem is the permission and not people who don't think just for a second the implications of that
well the permission is useful for bots like Patreon bot so when you support someone on patreon, it joins their assigned server. but yea keep an eye on any other bots that might have it and remove them
@@minecrafter9099 In 99.9999999999999999999999999999999999999999% of cases that permission uses for scamming and other horrible things. So it really shouldn't be a thing.
@@ansemik There is multiple other ways to solve that without this specific permission tho.
4:53 the easiest way is to actually press "register" or "forgot password" it won't work, because they aren't going to make a register or forgot password page 💀
This actually saved me as a kid from getting scammed on a game called "Dungeon Fighter Online" lol.
It also helps that I don't actually know my password, the computer does. But the computer will see that the website is wrong and won't suggest the password to be entered.
It doesn't? Interesting, never knew that
@@lolidemon3163 the computer, rather the browser, suggests the login details based on the domain. These websites are using similar domains, but they aren't exact, so no suggestions are given.
And now you told the scammers to look out for this flaw by commenting this...... Because some very likely watches scam related videos so they can learn about what their victims know.
I actually had the "I accidentally reported you" scam. The user then suggested to contact the support and this "support" guy than requested me to change my Email to a specific Email. He also didn't have any moderator badge. It was at that point I blocked and reported him.
That one happened to me and I got to the change email part before I realized and I logged them out + added a security key then went to discord report and changed email back, I feel stupid for falling for it 💀
@Sunny-lr6cn kind of how hackers/scammers gets the more savvy peeps. One lapse of judgemet is all it takes
@@Sunny-lr6cni did that but discord support hasnt helped me change the email back and its been a month and a half. “we have an entire team working to help you” ok then why do my friends have their accounts back already and not mine?
@@Plaguecoric same thing happening here as well..
I just got it today on discord
Discord needs to add a banner in dms that says: discord, valve, riot will never reach out to you in dms, ask for personal info or ask you to scan a qr code code. Or sth like this
Exactly they need to dumb it down😂
"Butthole jumpscare" was not on today's bingo card lmao
10:18 I love how the current Polish president is trying to scam me.
Same
Can't believe anyone these days
That game tester scam shocked me, so there was a friend i had which i no longer talked too, and he sent me a file telling me it was a game he created, i just didn't download it because my other friends told me to not do it, this happens probably 2 years ago and this video made me remember that incident, i'm so glad that my other friends told me to not download that file because i was so dumb back then.
I once downloaded a zip file from a hacker though i didn't do anything further. Though it was my phone so different way to hack it with wat they were doing
I almost fell for #5 a couple years ago. I was 99% sure it was a scam the whole way through, but I had so little self confidence at the time that I allowed the 1% to drive me until I finally cut the crap at the last possible moment. So glad my confidence has grown since then.
There was one scam that went as the following:
Edit: its called "baiting" not scam
Random DM: What is 5x2
you: 10
(they edit their message to "how old are you")
Random DM: how old are you?
you: 10
Makes it look like your 10, but I said "5 * 2 = 10". Blocked and reported spam as well. I got screenshots
I’d reply with 5x2 = 10
Already covered in a previous video
that's not a scam, scamming is when they steal money from you.
not a scam, that's just a 12 yr old trying to ban your discord account
Discord gets reply context and edit logs for reports so that won't do anything (that's not a scam, that's called baiting btw)
Sometimes I like to entertain these scammers and myself. Acting, questioning, being stupid etc. Really get the most out of their time for nothing while I cut my time and enjoy them trying their maximum to scam me lol.
WTF you talking about they don't talk back they are bots if you send them a message they just send the keylogger link again lol.
@@basillah7650 If its a bot they won't respond or set up automated message. But not every one does that so yes they do respond but i don't try to mess with everyone. Just when I'm bored
Fell for the last one a while ago since my friend that had dmed me was actually working on a game, knew it was malware when all my operation systems flagged it. Was not fun changing all my passwords and taking my computer to best buy to have it wiped, was extremely stressful. I truly don’t wish that kind of thing on anyone because it freaked me out so much.

As an actual game developer, number 6 sucks that it exists and I have to resort to my friends only testing my ACTUAL game
I don't know how it works, but maybe you could upload your game on Steam and then have people download your game on Steam? That way you can still have random people testing your game and they can be assured that it's not malware
@aronasmundurjonasson3175 there has been cases where malware can get through steam so that isn't a foolproof situation
Why not offer a free demo (or early build) on some site or something? Last time I checked, there were a few that let you do that.

Keep it simple.
If it's too good to be true, then it probably is a scam.
I caught two scammers in the past week lmao. Thanks for keeping your community aware of discord scams and IP grabbers ❤
Remember!
No good artist will ever contact you asking you to commission them.
I've had exactly one exception to this - but it was because i'd commissioned her before and she was notiftying me of a sale.
same. almost fell to that trick, but luckily another user had something similar to the case I had.
different username, same PFP. so I told the other user that had the same problem as me to just report it
Amen.
I used to get those a lot but didn't realise they were scammers, I genuinely thought they were just desperate to get someone to commission their shit. I was safe though because every single time it happened I just told them I don't need to commission shit.
@@thequ5914 Now that I've been made aware of this... I actually just straight up gave them a follow on Twitter and said that I too, am an artist trying to get around this world, and therefore are broke.
It just dawned on me that they might be a scammer. Their Twitter page seemed legit though.
Thank you for making these videos. It was because of you that I was able to recognise the "Download My Game" scam when I got it from a fellow student in a uni discord. I like to believe that by being able to share your video in that discord, naming and shaming the stolen account, I was able to stop someone else from getting scammed/hacked.

Never trusting anyone again. I got sent a request for someone to get an achievement on a game called "First Dwarf" and it took 2 months for Discord to reinstate my email. I am now less stupid but more cynical.
(4:40) This is also why having not English as your language is very useful. As soon as the login is in English, it's a scam. Of course it can still be a scam even if translated, but this is a very big clue.
I come from the country that invented English 🇬🇧 and trust me, it's been the crux of scams *long* since before the Internet was invented... 💷🐒😉
But aye; Even if you do use English as your main language ( _Aber daß mein erste wahl nicht..._ 🇩🇪❤🔥😉) having your OS set to a non-English language really helps with scam spotting. The less widely spoken the language¹, the better! 💱🇭🇺👍
(¹ - Mandarin, Spanish and French all have wide global fluency and might become more viable targets for scams as time goes on. For this reason less widely spoken languages - Hungarian, Polish, Welsh, etc - Are better choices if you can make use of them. 🇵🇱🛡👍)
The "Free 100.000 ROBUX" live going on when ntts shows the video of how to clean and install windows 11 is just so funny
I thought so too.
Someone tried the "i accidentally reported you" scam on me on steam, except it was just some random guy who I'd never talked to previously and didn't have any games in his library. He wasn't very good at the whole scamming thing.
Must've been a rookie, lol
7:19 goated game
Thank you for exposing the fake artist scams. I have a list of over 90 of them that have tried to scam me. It's extremely annoying.
The worst is that those illustrator scams are very common on servers for writers. Because not too many people would suspect them immediately there, since in very limited scenarios illustrators can be related to writing. (yeah i won't call them "artists" because the proper name for it would be illustrators, if they weren't scammers)
They don't know their characters in their profile pic nor relevant characters. That is a big red flag.
I would love to troll the “i accidentally reported you” scammers by changing my profile picture and responding to their message with *”WHOOOO??”*
I'm an admin in a smallish public server (~2200) and I ban probably 3-5 art scammers per day. It's insane. It's always the art scammers, too.
I've seen servers with 10-100 peoples at max, your server is actually giant btw

Not from a Discord scam, but I've already seen a BITB Steam login page that I was able to drag around :D
Also even if we ignore the first scam, the third is like.... wtf.... Shame on discord for not blocking this years ago, they could stop it so fkin easily ._.
Even if you can drag it around you likely won't be able to move it out of the website.
@@tovarishcheleonora8542 Yes, I forgot to include that.
I think I once came across that, only the BITB window was... wrong. I wasn't using Windows 10 at the time which threw me off hard.
@@re57k The BITB browsers also won't correctly relay accessibility settings like the legitimate site loaded in its own window will, so if you're using certain accessibility functions the two become vastly distinct. ♿👍
You know what would solve most of these issues? Disabling DMs by mutual server members, and only allow friends to message you.
lol, yesterday i got a dm and I wasted 5 hours of the scammers time with stalling and fake info and then told him that I reported their center to the police, his account no longer exists😂
My online friend fell for the fake verification scam recently and he spammed that exact fake Steam card link to every channel of every server he was in, including DMs. Needless to say, he got banned from almost every server.
I know we're all hardcore Discord users who would never fall for a scam, but please educate your friends too.
Funny thing, dev of the game that Im currently translating send me same message with "50$ for steam". I was like "Oh, cool", but then I clicked on the link and it asked me to log in, I checked in other tab am I logged in, and I AM, so that was obviously a scam.
I wonder where dude got scammed for his account.
Man i almost fell to the download my game scam once. The dude contacted me a week before and made small talk. I didn't really care but I responded out of politeness. He then said he wanted me to test his game and sent pictures of "him making the game" so I said sure, thinking it was going to be a steam link or something. He then sent me an .exe and only then did I start doubting the whole thing and ghosted him because I'm not downloading a random .exe. Truly a devious scam.
I just want to say thank you for making these videos about these scams. I've personally fallen for two scams with one on steam and one on discord. Thank you for spreading the word about the scammers.
Always loving seeing idiots clicking those scams, and then complain getting hacked 💀
In TL pro server there's a lot of hacked users that send only fans links repeatedly😂
The only people downvoting you are either people who keep getting scammed or the actuall scammers LOL.
Art scammers and the such annoy me a lot. They take so long to get to the scam part.
So...
First thing I do is write BUT NOT SEND "I knew this was going to be about art, you're a scammer, don't say otherwise" And I take a screenshot. I then erase it all and just send "Hi, do you need anything?"
And I continue asking this until they send their copypasta bullcrap. And boom, screenshot. Then I report to the servers we share after they start sending evil words to me
You misspelled "illustrator scammers". lol
To think I accidentally avoided 2 of these scams cause one was from an actual friend who was in a depressive state so I thought she was dumping money and I felt bad and denied it and for the other had a “starving artist” asking for commissions cause they lost their job 2 months ago and I went “same bro except mine was last month.” To which they tried to get me to commission a pfp for cheap and I replied with “I ain’t even got money to put gas in my car” to which they offered to pay me to commission them and I just ignored that one unintentionally cause it was late.
the last scam.... i didn't know of it and it is nightmare, cuz i am making my own games and i am sending it to my friends to play test. Soooo.... GG for these guys like me x_x
Could maybe msg them on another app as verification or so

The "I accidentally reported you" scam happened to my friend yesterday, we just found out about this that discord mod was fake and now were trying to get his account with 1 year nitro back, Thanks so much for informing us about this
I had like several case of almost every case you mentioned before.

I actually got DM'd by one of the scammers saying they reported me thinking I was a imposter of someone and as soon as I said I've seen this scam a thousand times they blocked me
Maybe we should start Rick rolling everyone again to teach people to not open random links. 🤔😉
Happened to me but after exposing them for hacking and saying I’ll involve the authorities.
They say I can get my account back in one condition, send ‘sexy photos’ of myself.
I was appalled so I report block and report to discord about them. It’s too disgusting.
