- In this video, I introduce you to the flat iron steak. It is one of my favorite budget Friendly steak that is often overlooked. It has great beefy flavor and is pretty tender if cooked to medium doneness. I will also demonstrate a great sauce for steak, Cowboy Butter.

We are being criminally overcharged for meat, it ridiculous.
It's almost like the elite got rich by printing more money, which they then routed to themselves, by laundering methods such as war, pork, and government contract kickbacks...
Meanwhile, all that printing made _your_ paycheck worthless, at the grocery store (inflation).
They're looting the country, as they intentionally destroy it (to pave the way for Global Fascism).
@@hxhdfjifzirstc894. Coincidentally Trump printed more money than anyone
You should raise one.
Flat iron steak is great, cooked by sous vide for *24 hours, at 131°.*
You can actually cook it anywhere from about 2 hours, all the way to about 48 hours. I prefer the range of about 24-48 hours, for flat iron. This provides a lot of convenience, because you can just keep it in the water, and sear it whenever you get hungry.
131° is on the low end of medium rare, and by the time you sear it, it's probably standard medium rare, to medium. The extended cooking time turns a cheap cut into one of the better steaks I've ever had.
Just this week I saw an internet article that dissed flat iron steak ! I’ve always liked this cut and was glad to see your video.
Great interview with Dr Baker
Nice easy sauce looks tasty & I will definitely try this with the ribeye. 😸
Curious, in AZ we were able to get a hanger steak. What is that in Minnesota terms? Also what is a Denver steak? I have been more confident to buy whole cuts since I found your channel! Thank you and all my dinner guests thank you as well!
I can get flat iron steak in my area for $6.99 a pound also. These i get are a little smaller but cut thicker the fit in my small air fryer, and that's my preferred cooking method.
Can you do a video on Tri-Tip? I have seen these cut starting to show up at Costco lately. I’m wondering what part of the cow they come from and how to best cook them. What primal cut do they come from & can you get those bigger cuts at Costco to cut them out of? Thx love the videos!
Could you show how to break down a shoulder clod ? Our butcher cuts me flat iron roast , they call it english cut roast . I usually smoke it to 133 degrees internal , it is amazing . Sometimes I’ll fillet out the membrane and cut finger steaks and cook them fast and hot in an iron skillet. The roast is now about $6 /lb with the steaks in the same case being $11/ lb . I also got my first Chuck roll thanks to you !
The way to cook tough cuts is like cooking very lean cuts...low temperature and slow, donyoi can watch it so it won't overcook..
Basically, a quick search, on each side, for a coupla.seconds, than off!
The redder the inside, the juicier it is😊.
I would like to see how you can cut the chuck roll into different steaks only. No roasts. I was researching and found that many people have found a way to get some great steaks in a large amount out of the chuck roll. But each version is different. I would love to see your take on this!
Is this a good steak for the dehydrator/making jerky?
My hometown butcher retired... He sold what he called a Charcoal Steak... I liked it very much... I have went to the butcher next town over... He has never heard of it... Is this the same steak... It looks like it...? 🤔 👀 😊
The great thing about flat iron steak is that you could feed a family of 4 with it. It is because you will slice it up. I need to try the cowboy butter. I recently moved from Dallas, Texas after 10 years living there back to my home state of MI, I cannot even find a flat iron steak. The meat prices are insane here except for Costco. So I will cut up my own strip steaks and filet mignons. No one even the butchers here have heard of a chuck roll which is frustrating. That is the only part of Texas that I miss is the flat iron steaks and great pricing.
With a steak that thin, how long do you recommend letting it rest before slicing?
Great videos! It’s difficult to hear you sometimes. Have you considered a wireless lapel mic?
Thanks for showing us options with how to make cheaper (but good) food at home. Now, for many of us, the prices when we eat out are IMPOSSIBLE to afford. Yeah, eating out once a week is possible, but not much more. We aren't spending $20+/$25 a person if you go places, so we are learning how to cook from great UA-cam Chefs like you and cutting restaurants out now. That's why copycat recipes are becoming so searched on UA-cam and on Google now. And, you can easily look for any recipe online and find a copycat. So, thanks for helping all of us save money.
I have loved flat irons for many years, but where i live (dutch harbor Alaska) flat irons are over 20$ a pound.
Where are you getting this for $6?! It's been years since I've seen it priced so low. It's a great cut, almost as good for the money as carne' asada, but too many people have figured out how good it is and the price has gone up quite a lot.
UA-cam is likely right. Maybe you should rebrand as saving money? I have no idea, but I like your primal cut demonstrations. Do I want a sauce for my steak? Well, they don't usually need it, but if they do, i go for broccoli and cheese sauce ... Green Giant. Great baked potato topping.
Yeah, unfortunately my go-to steak is now around $12-14 per pound! Ouch! I do look for it on sale to make my Japanese curry recipe still. Just like everything else, there are no good "deals" anymore- it has all been found and flipped already by desperate folks looking to make $$. Depressing. Thanks for the info man!
What did I miss? how much BUTTER ??”
I wish the flat iron steak was a available where I live in Florida.
😂
Just ask, at the store, or the butcher shop... sometimes it's sold under a different name.
UA-cam is wrong about what I want to watch next. I recently watched that video and I don't want to watch it again. It was a good video and I might want to watch it again some time in the future but not now.
They're always adding features nobody wants instead of fixing things like recommendations.
First of all, there are some kinds of videos that people only want to watch once (some video about a particular historical event, for example) Then, there are videos that people might like to watch over and over (music, for example).
They can't even get this distinction right, in the algorithm.
Garlic is great
Yep, garlic is always 👍 great❤🎉😊
we were getting these for $4-5 an lb before Covid.. Now $13lb..
Yeah, I had one in the freezer, marked $3.99/lb.
Everything has become expensive! The currency is collapsing!
I forget that some people eat less than 1lb of steak at a time. I was like no way that 6 bucks. Was right unfortunately
Do you reply...Butcher Wizard? Comments?
No, he's too busy counting his UA-cam ad revenue money and contemplating his next misleading video.
@@FirstAmendmentTests
U are probably right ! LOL !
😆😁
$14 a lb will buy a ribeye or strip
That flavor is everything!
$13/lb is cheap!? Lol, if beef is over $8.99/lb I'm not buying it. I'd rather buy lamb, it's only $5.99 for a boneless lamb leg at Costco and it's heavenly delicious.
Paid $6 for 1/2 lb.
just salt
It has become expensive…..
Yeah about over priced I bought a steak last year I think 🤔 and it was $25.00 and two months ago I went to acme and found 2 steaks cut ✂️ paper thin for $4.00 not worth Buying.
Skirt and flank unless you get it on sale 16 to 20.
6? lol, try 15
$13/lb is now a budget steak? Yikes.
Yeah I found the same nearly $18/lb.. 3x the price. This steak is a joke.
Must disagree. Got one out of curiosity the other day. Fired it up. Nasty chewy. Very odd texture. Flavor was meh. I'll take a skirt steak or a flank steak any day, thank you.
dude, get a mic. your sound is aweful!. so much echo. I do love your content, though!
Your videos are getting more and more ridiculous. You're calling a flat iron steak at $13 a pound a cheap cut. What are you smoking? Ribeye is $14 a pound. Strip loin can be had for about $10 per pound. Moreover, like in your other videos, you do not mention the USDA grade. Are we talking about select, choice or prime?
For someone that has compared Angus beef bought at the grocery store with non-angus beef bought at Costco, your record speaks for itself.
Why don't you just stop misleading people and go back to telling people how to cut steaks and prepare good meals? Oh yeah, you need to make more money with UA-cam ad revenue and affiliate links for knives and knife sharpeners on Amazon.
Sorry I do not watch videos with Ads, as ads contain Malware that is killing Peoples computers. Get a real job and a life!!!
Yeah, there buddy not $6 more like between 13 to 15 bucks and that's here in Tennessee.
Flat iron in Colorado, at its cheapest, is $11.84/lb
