I really don't care what they did to the design, as long as they kept the V8, which they did! Lovely engine for a lovely car. The sound can always be improved.

Nothing wrong with having a design language. After all, no one seems to claim when Porsche maintains the status quo.
Excellent point! I tell my friends this all the time. The Porsche 911 has looked the same for damn near 50 years, and the fan boys still get a hard on with each new release.
Porsche has brand cache and superior engineering that you can trust. An Audi is so mundane and characterless, except for the R8, and even that is the least interesting supercar. This could be any performance SUV, so it needs to stand out, which it doesn't.
@@strangerdanger8462save the panamera and the macan, who WOULDN'T get a hard on when Porsche r coming out with literal art pieces in the form of 3RS, the S/T, Sport Classic, and the Mission X.
I don't exactly envision anyone getting a stiffy while poring over a facelift of the A1 series from Audi.....
Porsche is not the status quo in looks, just performance. You can’t convince me the Cayenne and Macan look better than competitors.

So let me get this... Audi gave you LHD cars in a RHD country. How many of you pulled a Matthew Broderick??
Because if you look at the number plate, it has a European plate with a "D" that means it's from Deutschland which is Germany, and Germany cars are LHD
Good build quality, clean design, and not intrusive tech. I think the "safer" route Audi is taking with this and the new Q8 e-tron models will pay off. Great review as always, Rory!
Not anytime soon. There's just no good reason to switch to EV.

@@paulklp8262 Not really, they make some of the least efficient around and worse still are now fitting larger and larger batteries to compensate which makes them even less efficient. Design wise they are great but their EV technology is poor at present.
The much-needed facelift looks good! Love it even more now …

For a trained eye, they improved everything what had to be improved in SQ8 except the fact it should always be black packed.
I think they should let the customers choose. Aluminium, Black, or bodycolour. On the rs3 its only available in black, wich i think can be a bit boring, or too much black. If there was the Option to get it in Alu or bodycolour, it would be much more customizeable, yet relatively simple.
I disageee. The choice makes mine look just that much more special.

I am from Cape Town and I smile when I see SUV drivers who paid a fortune to feel imposing yet Im watching them from within a bus
Looks wise not much difference but I think the old car was just a tad more crisp in design. Still a good looking car though.
I cannot believe they spent money to customize the lighting designs of the tail and head lights.

SQ8/RS Q8 should come standard with the black optic package. We have a RS Q8 in our showroom without the black optic and it has been sitting for months. The same issue with our none black optic SQ8, it has been soaking up some florida sunshine for months.
Finally u land here ,u should do a car show and talk about our car market here in south afrixa

Rory, maybe you could do something on auto-besity. I know selling is at the heart of Auto Trader and the bigger the car the more money, but don't underestimate your educative influence. I think (and hope) that in the (distant?) future, reason will end up prevailing and normal cars will reappear.
Can someone explain, i ve had A4 last generation and it had this exact steering wheel. Why doesnt audi use in Q8 SQ8 RSQ8 those more premium steering wheels with glossy buttons, leather-like stitching in middle (optional), that are used in a6 a7 a8 models?

My Q8 with another 160 HP, V8 grunt and sound, is enough for me. 😃
It's a bit funny that in end of 2023 the "coasting function" is still highlighted (in 11:20) while this function is in my VW Passat already 10 years now

Ι stronlgy believe that out of all the sporty suvs, the q8 is best designed inside and out. Also its sporty enough to be enjoyble and confisence inspiring, without sucrifacing comfort on every level which in my opinion, thats what a luxury sporty suv should be all about. I dont need crazy performance and handling from my suv. What i also dont need, is a massive tv on my dash. Thank you audi for keeping it simple. bmw, take notes. What i do need, is take it offfroad, and audi suvs with the proper quattro(torsen plus lsd rear) are suprisingly good at it, as long as you put the right tyres. Thats why i belive the q8 and sq8 are probably the best option out there in that segment. I just wish that the sq8 was still a 4.0 tdi.
I actually appreciate Audi’s delay in technology advancement. They take their time and update when the time is right, I think in 10 years time the current Mercedes and BMW’s of the world are going to feel incredibly outdated and old when compared to the system Audi is using, its elegant, simple and damn easy to use
