Interesting that Queen Elizabeth had her mother and paternal grandmother, who were each outstanding queens, as guiding lights to help her on her way to becoming one of the greatest herself.

Her mother and grandmother were consorts not reigning in their own right. However, Hitler called Queen Elizabeth the most dangenerous women in Europe. She did a remarkable job backing up her husband King George.

Marching with arms reversed must be very difficult as the torso is twisted with one arm behind the back holding the barrel/shaft of the gun/sword.
I wonder how many people know the difference between a State funeral and a Ceremonial funeral.
State funeral - the most visible difference is that the gun carriage is drawn by members of the Royal Navy, on foot.
Ceremonial funeral - the gun carriage is drawn by horses.
In addition - State funeral - the actual ceremony is held in King George’s Chapel, Windsor.
Ceremonial funeral - the ceremony is held at Westminster Abbey.
The burial of members of the Royal Family is usually at Windsor Castle.
Examples - State funerals - King George V and King George VI
Ceremonial funerals - Queen Mary, Queen Elizabeth (wife of King George VI), Diana, Princess of Wales, Sir Winston Churchill, Baroness Margaret Thatcher.
Exceptions to the above were - Duke of Windsor (his funeral was a mixture of state and ceremonial), Duchess of Windsor and Princess Margaret - private ceremonies in King George’s Chapel, Windsor and burials there.
Also - there may be a period of lying in state in Westminster Hall -
Done for - George V, George VI, Duke of Windsor, Queen Mary, Queen Elizabeth (wife of George VI) and Winston Churchill.
Not done done for Diana, Margaret, Duchess of Windsor or Baroness Thatcher,

Even though the monarchy is self funded, it is still subject to often unfriendly scrutiny. The European monarchies seem to employ fewer people. The Danish Royal Household is only about 100 people.

The St. Paul's comment is accurate. Yes, she was a collector, often of jade, which was sent to her by a dealer in India, and for which she paid. She also tried to get back pieces that had been in the Royal Collection. The stories about her demanding pieces have no basis in fact. There is no documented evidence of any of those stories. But the only things she tried to get, and she did offer to pay, was things that had been in the Royal Collection, and left for some reason. Quite often it was a chair from a set that Queen Victoria had allowed one of her children to take when they married, things like that. I have known a few people who knew her well, including my mother, who was her God daughter. One antique dealer remembered her from when he started in the family business in the 1930s. I knew him in the 1980s, and he remembered her with great affection. He also said that she wasn't demanding or expecting things to be given to her. I think it's one of those myths that spring up around people. She is one of the people that I would love to have met, but she died 3 years before I was born. My mother told me quite a few stories about her. She called my mother to Marlborough House before my parents married, gave her a lecture on the the virtues of marriage and what a good wife should be. She then handed her a box of jewellery as a wedding gift. I inherited it, along with the rest of my mother's estate 10 years ago. A beautiful tiara, necklace, bracelet and earrings.
