Originally this was to be made right after Matrix 4, and both Matrix 4 and John Wick 4 were tentatively scheduled to be released to theaters on the same day. Fans of the franchises were tweeting that they were planning on taking time off of work so they could marathon all the Matrix movies, all the John Wick movies and then go to the movie theater to watch the 4th movies of the respective franchises back-to-back. It didn't end up working out because while filming Matrix 4 the pandemic shutdown all movie productions and with the delays John Wick 4 got pushed back.

Last I heard the script for John Wick 5 was being written, but both Keanu and the director have said that if they don't like the script then they won't make the movie. They aren't in it for the cash grab, they want to make good movies, so there is still a possibility that this will be the last John Wick movie. I think I remember reading that the director said, "I could call Keanu tomorrow and ask if he wants to make Wick 5, he would say "Hell yeah" but then he would ask "What is it?" meaning what is the story" and if he doesn't like it, he'll say "No." The director has also said that he has notebooks full of ideas for John Wick movies that he'd like to shoot, but I'm assuming he means action sequence ideas. He has enough ideas for like 9 movies, but not stories for them. Keanu has said as long as he can physically do the movies and audiences still want to see them, he will do the movies. So, again we might not get anymore, or we could get a lot more.
JW4 didn't work for me. The blind guy that could kill you in a sword fight was just too over the top, and the relentless body count actually got boring towards the end. It felt like watching a video game.
What an epic franchise this is. Emily and I have really enjoyed this ride. Where's JW5 at?

Thats kind of how Emily and I felt. It got a little repetitive with the fight scenes. Especially on the stops up to the church at the end.
