I cant believe it !, you just found the same Lord Byron poem piece I just pulled out of a rocky ocean beach here in Nova Scotia Canada. I can only read one side of mine. Wine Women Mirth Laughter Sermons and soda water the day after. Cant read the other side. Great video new subscriber
@@IDigHistory one in a million shot to see the same piece. At the time i had only watch two of your videos. Was hoping your other side had clear writing. Not a bracelet piece as its decorated on both sides but possibly a token. Not sure. Ours seem to be the only two i can find. Keep up the great videos, nice and clear and no dead airtime. Happy hunting
The hallmarks on the spoon handle will give the maker, the date, where it was made and the precious metal alloy it was plated with. They predate the civil war back towards colonial times. Actually they predate the Revo War being I've dug several up north, in Southern New Jersey while hunting for Revolutionary War artifacts and it came up with Colonial Coppers, Tombac Buttons, Musket Balls and a Crotal Bell so if you research it and say it shows the date range is between '75 - '82 that would be 1775 to 1782 and not 1875 to 1882. There are a few rare know copperware cutlery pieces made by Paul Revere but his Hallmarks have a Boxed R. Most of his pieces are out of silver. That spoon most likely came from Europe.
Awesome area, I found the same piece to a powder flask. A month later I found the rest of the flask. You definitely have a good spot there, the powder flask itself came up a lower signal. Definitely look forward to more of that area videos. I shared with a friend that's new to the hobby. I don't have FB, best I can do.
@@IDigHistory yeah I seen that at the end I couldn't make out what was written on the bottom of it cuz that's what it looked like at first awesome button congratulations 👍🦀
Fantastic Civil War relics! I have seen your "How to do research" video, so I know you put a lot into getting these locations. Very informative. Enjoyed it, thanks!
Congrats, Jon! You were picked as the winner! I saw your shared post on IG so you're all good. Thanks for watching and sharing. Shoot me your address in IG DM and I'll mail this week. Congrats again!
It really just depends on how much you want to spend. The Nokta Makro Simplex+ is about as good as you can get for the money for a good starter unit ($300 or so). If you aren't really sure you'll stick with the hobby, something like the Garrett Ace 200 - with headphones - (around $200) would do well. If you think there's a good chance you'll enjoy it and want to spend a little more, I'd recommend something like the Garrett Apex or Minelab Vanquish 440 or 540. Whichever you decide on, try to get it bundled with headphones and a pinpointer. As far as what works, any of the machines I mentioned and many more will work great, you just have to learn to use it. That’s the key. ... Be patient starting out and really try to learn the detector. You'll dig plenty of trash, but that's ok. Consider it training. It's a great hobby!
@@IDigHistory thankyou for the reply! I plan to spend around $200 to $300 on 1. I do want to get a real good one cause I do plan on starting to do a lot of detecting for the first time. I live down in the low country of S.C. maybe me and my kids can find some cool stuff. Thanks again for the reply
@Keith Carmichael that's a great area to dig some really old stuff! I lived in Beaufort Sc for a few years but it was before I detected. Wish I had been back then because that place is loaded with history!
