Gotta say, Steam Deck comes out on top for me. Price Customer service 3rd party accessories A large community to draw info from Idk seems like the safe bet.
Reviews, as much as possible, ought to be more like this--comparisons to what's already out there. You do a fantastic job of of showing what this offers by comparing it to a Steam Deck others might already have.
I decided to buy a Steam Deck cause of price point. But love Ayaneo 2, it's having everything I want: 2Tb hard drive, fingerprint unlock, more power CPU&GPU and compatible with ALL games on Steam (not just a bunch), larger battery. Dock with a cable OMG, I want that. Don't like you have to break a bit plastic to open it. I would prefer more accessible screws
I bought the 64gb deck. Put a 256gb ssd in it and started to dual boot. Then I took my 512gb ssd and partitioned it. Half for steamOS, half for windows. Best of both worlds and less than this device.
Except the trackpad. If you only play multiplatform games with full gamepad support, that's fine. But if you want to play some PC exclusives, it's a huge oversight, making playing things such as HoMM3, Battle Brothers or Field of Glory impossible.
There are just so many reasons I can't even consider ayaneo yet. Street price for this device will likely start at 1500€. They really have to wipe out the Steam Deck in every category to be worth that asking price.
Hardware and performance wise; These 6800U APU’s match the Steam Deck in nearly every category EXCEPT price. Every Ayaneo has been, on average, more expensive than prebuilt gaming PCs. The only one of these handheld gaming devices, apart from the steam deck, I’d consider buying around the $1,000 range is the GPD Win 4… ONLY because it’s design has a lot of personality I haven’t seen from electronics since flip phones & the Sidekick… if anyone else remembers what the market used to look like back in the day, the GPD Win 4 gives me a lot of nostalgia. Still love my steam deck, if these other 6800U units were in the same price range I’d probably pick one up. I don’t think they ever will become more affordable to be honest …
Just snagged an aya neo 2 on eBay for way less. In fact, I think people just didn't see the listing. Regardless, I got hell of a deal. And, to be fair, the geek is far more affordable. If you can snag that for 849, I'd say it's a better value than the deck considering the power, screen, controls, and ports are objectively better. The only real advantage for the deck is the community and support.
The AYANEO 2 looks pretty slick I must admit, but not nearly as slick as that Fan The Deck cap. 🔥🔥 Shame the price is as high as it is but it will hopefully get better with time!
I want this too but I really want FULL integration with SteamOS. Like Ayaneo 2 has the two buttons on the bottom right and I'd love those to be able to function as the Steam Button and (...) button respectively. That's just a small example. Hopefully Valve is able to do this with handheld makers
This isn't competition. Anyone that's paying that much for a handheld should just get a laptop it will perform way better. The thing that has always made consoles even viable was the performance per dollar. This isn't it.
@@SimpleEnigma331 You can say it's not competition but no I wouldn't say people should just go for laptops. I've been a fan of handhelds since before the Steam Deck and I'll continue to be a fan of handhelds. I have a gaming laptop but I stopped using it as soon as I got a GPD Win Max 1 (again, pre Steam Deck) simply because it was less convenient for me. I can't compare to consoles because 99% of my gaming library is on PC. Not everyone is going to be the same but handhelds exist for a reason.
@@FanTheDeck well, if you already have a gaming laptop you can choose handheld but if you can only have to choose one you should just go for gaming laptop as you can play at better resolution, graphics and fps with gaming laptop at the price of this handhelds. Gaming laptops have better value for your money compared with these handhelds at this price.
@@Molacules In my country and currency, a steam deck costs about $900 for a 512gb model. While a base gaming laptop is around $1500 minimum. If all I want to do is play games, I struggle to justify why I would ever buy a gaming laptop. A gaming desktop would make more sense (costs around $1000), which is why I do have one, but as a primarily mac user, my desktop just gathers dust whenever i can't be arsed to sit at my deck to game after a whole day of sitting at my desk to work. I bought the deck as an experiment to see if I can finally do away with this waste of space that is my pc. The deck appeals to a demographic like me, not necessarily people who are counting every dollar per value performance for everything. Sometimes convenience outweighs value.
I'm so glad I've got the deck, ayaneo series is nice but it costs my bum, legs and 2 lungs and a heart to buy that thing (referring to ayaneo overall) way too expensive
The aya neo 2 is marginally better, yet a lot more expensive, I'm more excited for aya neo next 2 when it releases with 7000 series and zen3 and touch pads.
I'm really glad Valve is going the best price to performance route and leaves the premium market to other companies. The iteration of the AYANEO devices is impressive, I can definetely see myself buying an AYANEO 4 or something like that in the future. But it must outperform the deck in native resolution, otherwise I don't see the value of higher resolutions than 800p, when game developers target the deck as minimum spec.
There it is! Amazing video! Loving my Ayaneo 2 - although I share all of your criticism. The biggest letdown has been Windows for me so far. The Moment SteamOS 3.x or AyaOS releases, I'll get rid of Win in a heartbeat!
The biggest question mark for SteamOS on AyaNeo devices will be instant sleep. I don't know if the hardware is capable of it at all, or how much development would be necessary to make it work. Sleep tends to not work very well on many hardware configurations under Linux, let alone resuming a running game.
@@seeibe though I don't have any first-hand experience there is actual software you can implement in order to help with sleeping a computer with a game running and you're resuming it.
Steam Deck (~$450) vs Aya Neo 2 (~$1100) = roughly $650 more expensive. IndieGoGo is not a retailer; it's temporary crowdfunding, with very limited stock, sold at a discount
@@FanTheDeck But i heard that the glass gets extremely hot on the bottom right side and then you have the support issues. Valve is going to give you better support anytime or even if they don't give you can fix it yourself, where the Aya you need to see if support decides to answer you, ship it to china and wait for it to come back.
Kaze is a great game! The platforming feels perfect & the masks keep the gameplay interesting. Playing it I could tell that the devs are fans of classic platformers from the artwork and level design
Thinking of getting a Neo 2 over the Deck, I live in Australia where you can only grey import the Deck. Meanwhile you can order an Aya Neo 2 at JB Hi-Fi for $AU2000 but you also get WAY more support and warranty from JB.
Really loved the comparison, I opted for ayaneo 2 because I want to replace my desktop pc for a portable with an option to use a dock + eGPU. I think that ayaneo 2 is the better option for my needs. I really hope that other companies step their game for the handheld market, the chinese market is really great for making these handhelds.
For me the Steam Deck is great like the iPhone is great: streamlined optimisation between software and hardware is what makes it a winner. All the competition can go home.
@@FanTheDeck yes the device looks to be really well done and the specs make it worth the step up in price if you are willing to spend more, competition is always good in the mobile gaming market. Makes me wonder what Valve could do in a few years.
You do got a point but for apple is very dated in terms of features XD and I own the lastest and greatest pro and pro max steam on the other hand it's unlike any other company the updates are just amazing
also Steam is a rock solid company who is not going anywhere while who can say what the future holds for Ayaneo since they are a new company who has likely yet to turn a profit
The AYA products are well made from what I have seen (a friend has the Next) and seem to perform really well, they are probably worth the money they cost but cost more than I would want to spend. My main problem with all of these Chinese brands though is I don't trust them to support their devices nearly as well as Valve supports the Steam Deck. AYA just released the AYANEO 2 and are just now starting to get them out to consumers, but have already announced two more handhelds.
Bro like wtf, why you need support from Aya Neo? The software is done by Windows and Hardware support comes from AMD...... You don't need Aya Neo support..... Bios runs stable that's enough, no need further updates from them unless you want Aya Space which is an "Extra" that you don't actually need anyway
It's refreshing to hear a review of a d-pad and hear 'I can do my FADCs' instead of just, 'I can do Hadokens' lol. Don't get me wrong, basic motions are crucial, but knowing that advanced inputs are still comfortable to do is not to be understated.
Love that we are getting all these new handled gaming devices. Does this one have the suspend/resume feature? I didn't know this was going to be a big deal for me, but to me this has been one of the best features of the Steam Deck.
@@jmb3d idk about better. I've had good luck with sleep + video games on my desktop at least. It's not as fast as the Deck's suspend/resume but it works
I am not a fan of the ergonomics/layout of the AYAs. The smaller form factor means it does fill the hands as well, and the right joystick is not in the place your thumbs rests naturally. I have bigger hands, so that influences this view. Having a lot of inputs on the Steam Deck is hard to give up; especially how you can map the trackpads to all sorts of combinations and functions. Once you start to utilize the power of that, it’s really missed when not available. It also enables kinds of games like RTS (which can map specific screen regions to a trackpad etc).
Eh Windows on all handhelds is pretty clunky but Windows on AN2 is still better than Windows on Deck. Better driver support. Better TDP management. Better navigation (i can pop up virtual keyboard with LC).
Also steam deck Apu is custom made bro, valve made sure that they want there is software to be supported down to the bare metal of the deck. Aya is just grabbing hardware off the shelf and just putting altogether to create the ayaneo series.
Ayaneo geek with the 800p screen is the logical choice (of the Ayaneos) for me, native resolution and the performance hit to 1200p isn't worth the very minor visual improvement.
I dont mind devices being more expensive than the deck considering the deck is underpriced and if valve didnt have steam it would be more expensive. But at a higher price it needs to be clearly better in majority of categories across the board.
Yeah, when does 11 is really bad for a gaming PC especially a handheld because it’s up so much power it’s like using Google Chrome on your handheld. It heats up so much power that you could be using towards gaming. That’s why the steam deck is a better handheld. With less power.
Aya neo keeps mass releasing multiple models, thereby diluting the value of their own product. I don’t know why they can’t focus on 2-3 models total and perfecting them as much as possible. This model will probably be obsolete in a year.
Idiot consumers kept re buying their older Vega iGPU models that re released every year with 5% more performance for over $1000...no reason for them to slow down now with dedicated buyers who have more money than sense
I have (or had) both. And I can say, one thing that Steam Deck wins by a lot margin, and this is THE only thing where Steam Deck wins is... Price. Anyone who said that "duh my Steam Deck runs X better" is a simp and can't judge objectively. Of course I am not saying that those who have Aya (or other UMPC) typical defense "well Steam Deck sell at a loss" is a solid argument either. As a consumer, I don't care how or why, I only care at the product and my wallet. So... Let's put it this way. Does iPhone 14 Pro Max perform 3x better than popular Android mid ranger at half of it's price? No right? But people still buy both right? It's just a matter of preferences AND buying capability. You can't judge those who buy $1000 devices as a fool. They like it and it's their own money. They are not burning money, they get what they want. And at the same time those who pay cheap for 64 GB Steam Deck and upgrade it on their own does not mean they are poor peasant. Appreciate what we have right now. Mind your own business. We are seeing the beginning of a new era in handheld PC. Just play your game and have fun instead of debating here And yes, I sold my Steam Deck
No instant suspend and resume for you along with plugins.🤦. Janky sleep instead. Windows is kinda awful as a handheld console OS. The H/W is great the OS eeeeehhhhhhhhh good as a desktop OS but as a handheld OS 🤢🤮
First ;) It's a decent device from what it looks like, but it comes in at pretty much twice the price of the highest steam deck configuration and I reckon simply for that reason it will not sell nearly as well. I think the only reason people would spend a far higher amount on a device like this is if it had about 3x the battery of the steamdeck and performance to boot, given that higher res just means lower framerate than if it was running at 800 like the steamdeck this isn't really something I'd see as a selling point on a device like this but rather as the manufacturer shooting themselves in the foot, i'd rather have low res and smooth gameplay any day of the week. I know the aya series has been around for a while and they've always been pricy but they clearly missed the memo that these devices are becoming more popular and the price is dropping seeing as every new device immediately gets compared to the steamdeck that still mostly stands out there with few competitors in the bang for your buck department, continuous software support, repairability and manufacturer credibility.
It's definitely pricey and that means it's just not accessible to a whole lot of people. They also can't do much to bring the price down so I'm glad that they at least thought about how to make the price more worth it.
Yeah it's not compelling enough vs the steamdeck. But some people may want a windows handheld vs steams. I have a deck and love mine mind you, but some people just aren't willing to tinker beyond the scope of what they already know. It would definitely have to be cheaper for this to even be in a ballpark, people hesitate even at the $400 mark for a steam deck. Maybe when the new 7000 series apus start to eek out onto the market they'll be something compelling, untill then none of these can hope to have more merrit then a steamdeck. Valve has all that revenue from game sells and etc, why these guys don't. The only way I see a competitor coming anytime soon is if Microsoft threw their hat in the ring (not a cloud gaming backed one either)
The Steam Deck remains the best value mobile device of this type. For me. I mean, this looks great, but three times the price of the base Steam Deck nice? It seems that lots of companies are trying to get into this market even more now. This looks like one of the best, but it is no impulse buy product is it?
I understand why these are so expensive but I really wish they could price it a little closer to the deck. I would love to have one of these but they are just so expensive.
What I love the most about the SD are the trackpads. I really don't like shooters with a gamepad. I enjoy using the outring option to walk or run without pressing, just touching.
Deck is the king, but Ayaneo2 looks amazing. I may get it or wait for the Next 2 since that is going to have trackpads like the steam deck. Me and my wife love our steam deck, but will probably get an aya neo device instead of a second steam deck device. Great review
I've got the Ayaneo 2 ordered over here in Australia through Harvey Norman. Cost $2000 but they also have a 5 year interest free plan which makes it so much easier to be able to pay off. Would love a Steamdeck but they don't sell them in Australia and I don't trust ordering them from scalpers. Never know what you're gonna get so for that reason the price point is a non issue for me.
Go to other countries and buy it My bro went to the philippines and they sell it in locale retail store from malls he got the 64 gig for 445 dollars and bought a 1 tera nvme 2230 and 1 tera sd card and watch youtube how to replace and install the steam os.
I got the Steam Deck through Dick Smith not long ago and it arrived with no problems and I’m absolutely loving it. The price point for the Aya Neo really hurts and the customisation of the Steam Deck is definitely a win cos I want to try and find a see-through shell cos I love looking at the hardware of my devices
I was about to buy a Steam Deck, but I think I'll buy the Ayaneo or GPD Win 4 instead. Valve isn't making money on the Steam Deck, they can afford to break even, I will be supporting the competition. Sorry Gabe!
I wanted to buy a gaming laptop to replace my laptop but the new ones are way too expensive, I've been thinking about buying a handheld and making do with my laptop until at least the end of the year to give the laptop prices a chance to go down. The Ayaneo 2 seems like a somewhat better performer than the Steamdeck and its size + overall look is more attractive to me, but the price difference is really making me hesitate. Like everyone else has said, Steamdeck is probably the best bang for your buck.
Each to their own but when it comes to warranty, updates, online community/forums and parts for servicing/ replacements.. Steam deck is a better off option until the next gen unit in 2 to 3 years... Other handheld unit options are good but the CPU performance and price are something left to be desired...
Why Steam OS is considered better since it runs way less games? Even more if you take new releases in mind. Genuine question since I'm not really that familiar with the OS.
@@jmrishun That's a fair question. Here's my personal take: - SteamOS obviously has downsides (e.g. compatibility). - I personally don't care too much about the downsides (99.9% of the games I want to play are compatible) - The upsides to SteamOS are extremely important to me. The Gaming Mode of the OS is incredibly easy to navigate compared to using Windows and it comes built in with the ability to tune hardware (i.e. set TDP) in a way that is a lot more clunky in Windows. Mostly, I don't use the Steam Deck as a PC - I only use it to play games. So I like that the entire OS is basically tuned for that specific purpose and that games are slowly accommodating that. - In this review, I called the "Software" a tie because it really depends on what kind of gamer you are. If you want to play the big online shooters, you're probably better off on Windows.
In my opinion the real game changing thing that came from the steamdeck is steamos. Valve making an os specifically for gaming on par with PS and Xbox for a PC opens up a lot of possibilities especially for a small formfactor PC with low to mid range specs
I ordered the aya 2 in indiegogo and am patiently waiting for mine to come in. The one big feature for me that that the aya has that the deck doesn't is the support for eGPU's. I'd like my portable pc device to be able to take advantage of a real gpu when it's connected to my monitor or tv (similar to how people were originally hoping the switch would get more graphics power for the switch dock). I'm hoping the next deck will support eGPU's but till then I'll stick to the aya.
@@odaddy82 yeah I got it. I got the tracking number on a Wednesday and I got the actual item the next Tuesday. I live in the US on the east coast so depending on where you are I guess it could be longer or shorter
@@lasersGoPewPew123 thanks I stay on the east coast also am I’m about to purchase from the same site I have two last question lol is it worth it in your opinion and the 2nd question is from the time of order to the time you received it was about 3 weeks?
@@odaddy82 I bought it on indiegogo. I think the campaign might be over but that just means they have it on their actual store albiet 200$ more I think. Actually the wait was grueling. I ordered on January 11th and received it on march 28th 😓. It was a long wait but the device feels so premium. I'm able to play far cry 6 on it with decent frames. I think it was worth it for me but I don't think it will be worth it for 90% of the gamers. Price is just too high. For me the biggest thing was the egpu compatibility and I was able to hook up my egpu with my gtx 1080 to do some gaming at 1440p on my tv. I would first consider the steam deck and see if that will work for you and if not then you I guess you can consider the more expensive options. For my self though and with the way my life is considering my wife and baby, it's totally worth it since I don't have to be at my desktop to enjoy my games. I still play on my desktop for a more premium experience when I have the time but handhelds just always worked for me ever since I was very young. Also, you might already know this but I think in a few months the Asus ROG Ally is supposed to come out and Asus is claiming they'll have a competitive price for their device and it'll have a new and faster chip as well. Customer support with aya is not supposed to be amazing so you could wait for that as well.
Instead of Oled I would genuinely like valve to consider releasing a smaller version of the deck. I don’t mind the bulkyness but I don’t like how wide the device looks or the button placement. I wouldn’t mind a no trackpad version as I don’t really care for those.
Surprised there wasn't much more detail on the controls... One of the biggest draws of the deck for me are the back buttons and the touch pads. There are so many games that may as well be (or are) unplayable without the pads (strategy, base building etc). Back buttons are necessary for games that require you to keep your thumbs on the sticks like shooters. It would feel really limiting to me to lose that stuff and a good chunk of my game library would either be unplayable or unpleasant to play.
With the Geek, the sticks are more offset from the buttons so you are a bit less likely to bump the right stick when you hit a button. I don't have either device, but I have an old Aya Neo Pro, and I have an issue in some games with accidentally hitting the stick when I go to press buttons.
Gotta go with the Deck. More reasonable price, and the trackpads make it easy to use as a portable PC which bodes well for certain types of games and productivity.
I am looking forward to these finding their way down to reasonable prices. At what they are charging for this, a) I can't justify paying double what i paid for my deck and b) at that price, a full desktop is just a better value.
Can you also please list the games that you showed in this video with time so that I can try getting them. Some of them look very interesting to try!!!
At the start of the video you said that you find yourself only picking this up other than the deck... did you try other handhelds? which ones? more reviews incoming?
I was going to fund this on indie go go but I found out they have models coming with better specs than this coming, so I think I’ll wait I rather get a 64gb and upgrade my SSD to 2 tb and duel booth from a sd card and upgrade it as parts and new mods come for the steam deck
LOL with Highest Price of Ayaneo I can get 64 GB Steam deck and upgrade it with 500GB SSD + 256 SD card for total 500$ and build midrange PC with RX 6750XT/RTX 3070 + Ryzen 5 5600x/R7 5700X for 1000$.
Each to their own but when it comes to warranty, updates, online community/forums and parts for servicing/ replacements.. Steam deck is a better off option until the next gen unit in 2 to 3 years... Other handheld unit options are good but the CPU performance and price are something left to be desired... still waiting for CPU with 1080p, low settings (igpu) performance.. with upcoming solid state active cooling (from Frore Systems) or hybrid cooling design with it...
The Aya Neo 2 has the same two giant negatives that all PC handheld Deck rivals have - price and shipping with the truly awful Windows 11 pre-installed. Even Aya Neo seem to concede that Windows is terrible for handhelds because they're working on a Linux distro (rather pointless - why not just collaborate with Valve to get SteamOS working on their Aya Neo models?). We've yet to see a major rival to the Deck in the PC handheld arena - GPD Win, OneXPlayer and Aya Neo are niche players within a niche - they ship in the thousands and not in the millions like Valve does, so the community, developers, accessory makers etc. are barely going to ever consider supporting any of the Deck rivals. Valve really does need to expand the countries it ships the Deck to though - this is the one big "loophole" that its Deck rivals can take advantage of. Aussies in particular must be fuming that they were mentioned early on as a future country to ship to and yet almost a full year after launch, the Deck still isn't shipping there.
I want to say I play some games on the Deck at TDP 3W and GPU 200Hz as well. Especially great with some old emulators to maximize playtime. I have a question in regard to this topic. When you talk about the Wattage setting on the Neo, do you only talk about the TDP of the CPU or the total Wattage? What about the GPU setting?
But the Steam Deck is only offering some tiny storage options. 64, 256, and 512. All these newer handhelds know what gaming is all about and increased the storage by double and even triple. I want the Steam Deck, but I don't want to go through all the song and dance of getting Windows (which I have to pay yet again for a serial key) AND SteamOS on it then have to go through all the settings to fine tune it just to get it right. Spending hours doing this (not to mention having to open up a brand new Steam Deck before you play it, it just seems frustrating to me. But then the other side of the coin, these Chinese handhelds with HORRIBLE translation and software leaves me perplexed as well. I live in Thailand and so the Steam Deck is not really an option unless I pay a scalper a 100-150 more to have it in my hands, but that's not to assume that buying an Ayaneo 2 won't place me in the predicament of having to pay import fees either. I just don't know what to do. These reviews are great, but this is not a daily driver for this reviewer and I need a review where they have used a Steam Deck AND a Ayaneo 2 as daily drivers for a few weeks to a few months before I can trust a review like this. Things break. Software fails. Watching Linus' video, the Geek bugged out and I believe so did the Ayaneo 2. I would rather trust a review where the person bought the product themselves than had one given to them to test.
Question: The 512gb steamdeck is 650 over here. I can get a Aya neo geek with 2tb ssd for 700 from a friend. Would you guys put the 50 bucks for the upgrade or still go steamdeck?
The price, while understandable, is upsetting. It's a lot smaller than the Steam Deck, making it more portable. I would buy it at 600€ max, tax and shipping included.
Yeah it comes with windows just a automatic no for me. It's the whole reason I got a steam deck. I'm moving away from windows and apple. I even got graphine os on my pixel.
Aya Neo has okay performance and performs or underperforms on 15W compared to SD. Going max Wattage overperforms but RIP battery life. So im disappointed. Ill wait for 7000U series like the 780M. Then that will perform better than Steam Deck on 15W because of that 8.9TF
I just want to play PUBG, COD MW2, and nba 2k23 60fps on high, so far of my research pubg normally is not supported by steam deck? As i did not saw any video apart third party apps that it would be possible to play by handled controller, or i miss somthing?
I think all Steam Deck comparisons should be "devices the same price as the STeam Deck or less" Are they better or worse? I think it's dishonest to compare a product 2x more expensive
I'm sincerely more of an Air Plus kinda guy when it comes to the Aya ecosphere since you pay extra to avoid the major reason I'm not completely sold on the Steam Deck, the size; due to the Air Plus using the 6800U as well but with the form factor of the OG Air.
@@samgoff5289 they already stated it would be borderline Pro specs & form factor to try and keep the hunger of the 6800U in check, could also feature the 7335U that was announced this CES since it's much stronger than the incumbent 7000M processors.
Deck is still king for price and value are always updating it.

The AYANEO 2 looks pretty slick I must admit, but not nearly as slick as that Fan The Deck cap. 🔥🔥
Shame the price is as high as it is but it will hopefully get better with time!
Really glad to see some competition in the market. I would love to see one of these devices potentially running SteamOS.
Yeah I'm so happy the Deck exists
The aya neo 2 is marginally better, yet a lot more expensive, I'm more excited for aya neo next 2 when it releases with 7000 series and zen3 and touch pads.
Great points and comparison. Loving my Steam Deck and for me it wins hands down.
Of course it wins for you. It’s the one you bought.
Nyrna specifically
Just run Steam in big picture no big deal, actually it will support more games than SteamOS does by this method
@@TRX25EX Massive difference.
Steam Deck (~$450) vs Aya Neo 2 (~$1100) = roughly $650 more expensive.
IndieGoGo is not a retailer; it's temporary crowdfunding, with very limited stock, sold at a discount
I love my deck to death but god that ayaneo looks so damn beautiful…
It really is gorgeous.
@@PolCmara Steam Deck gets a Big W for support. That's absolutely something to keep in mind and something I mention in the video.
and smaller. problem is the price tag
@@lutzaby1997...for almost double the price it should be
Kaze is a great game!
Check if they have USB 4.0. Those supports eGPU
For me the Steam Deck is great like the iPhone is great: streamlined optimisation between software and hardware is what makes it a winner.
All the competition can go home.
Deck is still the big winner but I really like what AYANEO did with this one.
Yeah that goes in my "Support" column, I'd say.
Running Windows so no. It'll go to sleep like windows though.
Sleep in windows works almost as well. Won't adjust play time though.
@@bikechan9903 Oh did windows get better with there suspend/sleep mode. I thought it took forever to go into and out of.
Im glad you still went with the Steam Deck. It’s just hard to beat what Valve was able to achieve as a complete package.
Why is windows on steam deck clunky but windows on other handheld ok?
Eh Windows on all handhelds is pretty clunky but Windows on AN2 is still better than Windows on Deck. Better driver support. Better TDP management. Better navigation (i can pop up virtual keyboard with LC).
Also steam deck Apu is custom made bro, valve made sure that they want there is software to be supported down to the bare metal of the deck. Aya is just grabbing hardware off the shelf and just putting altogether to create the ayaneo series.
The same reason why Linux is often clunky on Windows PCs. Using the OS that the manufacturer put on the device tends to be a better experience.
With windows looming in the background of this device makes the price not worth it.
Yeah, when does 11 is really bad for a gaming PC especially a handheld because it’s up so much power it’s like using Google Chrome on your handheld. It heats up so much power that you could be using towards gaming. That’s why the steam deck is a better handheld. With less power.
I have one and it’s nice, but the minimum brightness level is a dealbreaker. I mostly game at night, so I almost always stick with the Steam Deck.
Nothing beats the Steam Deck at $399 nor will for a very long time.
Great content, would be nice to see a comparison between Steam Deck and GPD Win 4 as well.
I would love to do this. I don't have a GPD Win 4 but if I get one, I'd def do an in-depth comparison against both SD and AN2
Aya neo keeps mass releasing multiple models, thereby diluting the value of their own product.
That bduck variety, hot damn I love it! Why can't company's make vinyls like this, instead of the same boring ones over and over again.
Just play your game and have fun instead of debating here
And yes, I sold my Steam Deck
No instant suspend and resume for you along with plugins.🤦. Janky sleep instead. Windows is kinda awful as a handheld console OS. The H/W is great the OS eeeeehhhhhhhhh good as a desktop OS but as a handheld OS 🤢🤮
First ;)
It's a decent device from what it looks like, but it comes in at pretty much twice the price of the highest steam deck configuration and I reckon simply for that reason it will not sell nearly as well.
The ayaneo 2 looks absolutely gorgeous and more portable, it’s just too pricey.
I've started to prefer Flick Stick over Trackpads but yeah you can't argue how good Trackpads are and I prefer the option to have both haha
@@FanTheDeck I don't know what is that. I'll check it out. Thanks
Other than that, great review and comparisons bro
Thank you brother!
Sorry Gabe!
Interestingly your complaint with the analog stick is alleviated on the geek since it has a slight offset with the joysticks.
Price and steam os makes the deck unmatched.
Can't be mad at that
Why Steam OS is considered better since it runs way less games? Even more if you take new releases in mind. Genuine question since I'm not really that familiar with the OS.
@@jmrishun That's a fair question. Here's my personal take:
- SteamOS obviously has downsides (e.g. compatibility).
- I personally don't care too much about the downsides (99.9% of the games I want to play are compatible)
- The upsides to SteamOS are extremely important to me.
Omg the duck.
Right?
I ordered the aya 2 in indiegogo and am patiently waiting for mine to come in. The one big feature for me that that the aya has that the deck doesn't is the support for eGPU's. I'd like my portable pc device to be able to take advantage of a real gpu when it's connected to my monitor or tv (similar to how people were originally hoping the switch would get more graphics power for the switch dock). I'm hoping the next deck will support eGPU's but till then I'll stick to the aya.
Did you receive it yet and if so how long did it take?
@@odaddy82 yeah I got it. I got the tracking number on a Wednesday and I got the actual item the next Tuesday. I live in the US on the east coast so depending on where you are I guess it could be longer or shorter

Did you buy it or are you getting review product now?
If review then congratulations for building up enough to get in their lists
Instead of Oled I would genuinely like valve to consider releasing a smaller version of the deck. I don’t mind the bulkyness but I don’t like how wide the device looks or the button placement. I wouldn’t mind a no trackpad version as I don’t really care for those.
steam deck needs to be 40% smaller
Ayaneo 2 is just better for me. I also feel the ally is better. I do love the steam deck and it deff deserves the hype.
Just ordered 😂😂
Got myself a steam deck and now will be getting a neo 😚
I prefer small handhelds overall but the price is way out my league for a device that won't have the same community support for the next years
Surprised there wasn't much more detail on the controls...
No back buttons is a deal breaker
Do you get to keep the samples Aya and other companies send you?
Can you also please list the games that you showed in this video with time so that I can try getting them. Some of them look very interesting to try!!!

Aya Neo 2 more powerful more premium way better in all aspects than steam deck.
You'd be worried if it wasn't for the price.
Hold on. Wait a minute. Where do I get that cap!?
ayaneo 2 price = build a decent gaming pc and emulate some cute games xD
Can't wait for the next steam deck generation
Try Steam Deck vs GPD win 4 pls
ayaneo just looks like an expensive anbernic
Would you guys put the 50 bucks for the upgrade or still go steamdeck?
did not age well when AMD just replaced apu to Z ones
Biggest problem with Ayaneo is the support. Good luck with getting support when your handheld died.
can you do one on the OneXPlayer
The price, while understandable, is upsetting. It's a lot smaller than the Steam Deck, making it more portable. I would buy it at 600€ max, tax and shipping included.
What game is being played at 18:11. Love the art style and want to try it
Yeah it comes with windows just a automatic no for me.
It's the whole reason I got a steam deck. I'm moving away from windows and apple. I even got graphine os on my pixel.
Look like Nintendo Switch for PC and that doesn't look ugly looking like the steam deck 😅
I think it's dishonest to compare a product 2x more expensive
which do u like better
New releases will not be playable at 1200p. They should have gone for native 1080p.
Ayaneo geek is much more logical, 800p display.
would u remake this with the ayaneo 2s?
Install Steam OS on the AYANEO 2 ? how good would that be
I wish the DPAD are all playstation ish style. dpad are separated
I'm sincerely more of an Air Plus kinda guy when it comes to the Aya ecosphere since you pay extra to avoid the major reason I'm not completely sold on the Steam Deck, the size; due to the Air Plus using the 6800U as well but with the form factor of the OG Air.
The air already gets 1 hour of battery life..imagine it with the more power hungry chip 💀
@@samgoff5289 they already stated it would be borderline Pro specs & form factor to try and keep the hunger of the 6800U in check, could also feature the 7335U that was announced this CES since it's much stronger than the incumbent 7000M processors.
