Neil degrasse Tyson basically does entire podcasts by himself. The hosts just have to sit there and nod their heads. He’s one of the very best educators out there!
Stumbled upon this by happenstance, clicked because of Neil deGrasse Tyson, but am subscribing out of sheer respect and appreciation for the energy and curiosity you brought to this conversation! What matters to me in a podcast isn't that a person is able to go toe-to-toe with their guest in whatever the subject of conversation it is that they've been invited on to discuss. What matters is just having the sincere interest to learn anything at all, and it was clear from the very beginning that you were genuinely interested in Neil's work as an astrophysicist. Seriously -- amazing job!

I'm amazed how good Danica Patrick conducted this interview. I've seen Neil DeGrasse being interviewed by journalist types and wasn't as good as this one. I believe Danica did a very good job .
i saw Ben Shapiro interview him. He is a conservative republican political commentator. They got into controversial stuff, but Neil was equally informative as this podcast because he isnt here to impose his opinion on others. Just to inform you on science. I loved it.
Neil is always a pleasure to listen to, and Danica asked really good questions and was super charming and fun. Can’t wait to see more from her new podcast.
What a great discussion between two very interesting people and Danica really brings out the humanness of intriguing thoughts and questions. Absolute joy....thank you both!!!
This interview and dialogue almost touched me to tears. I just love Neil deGrasse Tyson attitude, and HUGE knowledge, and the fact that he's so focused on what he doesn't (we don't) know. And it's been a very nice discovery of you, I confess. I knew your name because of Indy car and Nascar, and you've been a very nice surprise to me, I admit. Your questions were intelligent, spot on, deep, and lovely put, and you have humor and lightness, which are increasingly rare nowadays. Thank you for this gem. Bring us more of these.
@@geoffreynhill2833 I don't see how. In my eyes, he shares a HUGE knowledge, in a light, even funny, way. But you know, perception is subjective... Could you, please, tell me what, specifically, makes him seem "vain" to you? Maybe I overlooked something. :-)
Dr. Tyson I am a Physics major grad myself and yes I used the slide rule all through my college years (1972-76), even used it in exams specially in Physics 211-212 and 215-216 courses. During that time there were TI scientific calculators costing $1,200 and above not allowed to have in the classroom even if one could have afforded it.
I'm totally impressed by Danica's ability to do this. I've only ever seen her in a race car or a Go Daddy commercial, and of course she was great in those, but, for me, this is a whole new side of her.
I do totally agree with you. She was amazing. I've seen Mr. Tyson in multiple of talks and usually the others don't know how to keep things flow smooth.
This is kind of a dumb comment. I’ll just say most race car have more personality than ten humans of the street combined. They’re confident, cocky, and #1 in their own mind. They have to be to be winners. But it looks like those go daddy commercials didn’t do her website business a bit of good if she’s having to start a podcast 😂😂

The more I learn, the more I realize I don’t know. And then I want to learn more! Boy will Neil be surprised when he finally crosses over. Such a cool man!
Agreed. Neil doesn't tolerate being labeled an athiest. He is open, to not the possiblity of the existence of God. But he is open to the PROOF of God's existence. He has admitted that if ever he finally becomes convinced, by solid evidence that God, as the highest intelligent being responsible for the creation of the universe and life, actually exists, if he has to die in order to meet him, THAT would be the ultimate privilege. To have an audience with the Creator and hopefully get all his questions answered. You could sense the depth of his excitement in contemplating such a thing. But he is deservedly cautious. Because he does not want an army of theologians lifting him up as their champion of religious truth. It is many of those same theologians that has not satisfied his search for God.
@@melvinharmony2427 I merely shared what Tyson said in an interview. Which reveals nothing about my belief system. And yet you chime in with some prejudiced mumbo jumbo. No one is demeaning your personal belief system or posing as a threat to you. So what are you afraid of?
@@melvinharmony2427 look Melvin. Your viewpoint is important to you. I get it. Now allow me to repeat myself because you completely overlooked my point: I revealed Tyson's viewpoint, not mine. Your wasting your energy trying to impress me. Take that argument to Neil. When Neil said what he said he wasn't trying to force his views on anyone. He was asked a question about HIS viewpoint. HE said he wasn't an athiest. You say he is. You want to force him into becoming something he declares he isn't go ahead. And yes I said "afraid". Because you obviously were uncomfortable enough to hear what Tyson said that you got triggered by it. You don't believe in a divine Creator? No problem. But if you were truly comfortable enough about your belief system, no alternative viewpoint should make you cuss and swear and freak out or panic and reduce to calling other people cheap insults. Or is your belief system so fragile that an alternative proposal could make it crack and split apart right underneath you? How does that old saying go? "The truth is like a caged lion. Let it loose and you don't have to defend it- it will defend itself." You go thru life fighting every religious person, at best you reveal just how little faith you have in "athiesim".

they're all the same.. him, Brian Greene, japanese MK guy that I can't spell his name... their jobs seem to be celebrities first... Tyson tries to dumb things down so much that he makes brazen statements like in this interview saying that before (america) there was no tolerance for other religions historically, but that's far from the truth - that was the reason some empires could stay together... however.. what he probably meant was that it was the norm to be intolerant, however, as an entertainer it makes more sense to say it the way he did - then this 1% dna thing, where to start? lol.. he makes a lot of assumptions

Among lions in Africa, are small stones that go unnoticed. Stones are found by drinking water and in the shade of trees. If you were standing in the shade and you cupped your hands around your eyes to see into the distance, the heat might ripple and ruin your view of the horizon. Yes, the damn heat is annoying man! Katanga lions in Africa were over hunted and so are engaged, but their numbers are slowly growing so good things to come in the next ten years or so.

I hope you come back with a different topic whatever you feel needs to be discussed for pure knowledge and information on the Univers. Thanks
She managed to check he intensity at the door, her inquisitness came through as it should from a host. I am a fan of race car drivers, Danica, you are wonderful. Thanks.
For someone who couldn’t get a single win in her whole NASCAR career while running a Stewart-Haas car which is one of the best teams in nascar, her teammates consistently finished high, while she was wayyyy in the back of the field consistently landing in 27th place next to drivers in gear half as good as hers, she. Very much was a flop in NASCAR
I wish Star Talk was produced more like this, instead of having obnoxious comedian hosts that do nothing but constantly interrupt and waste 80 percent of each Star Talk show time.
You spoke my mind. I have stopped watching StarTalk for this very reason. Now I look for his interviews or podcasts like this. Hope they will get rid of that comedian. On the contrary, Lawrence Krauss is going well with his new channel.

Neil quotes the Bible in 1 Kings as giving the value of Pi as 3.0. The basin was 30 cubits around and 10 cubits across. What he forgot to take into account was the width of the rim of the basin which is given as one hand breadth. This is approx 4 inches. So the diameter of the basin is 10 cubits from outer edge to outer edge. The basin would have been casted over a mold that was specified to be 30 cubits around. So the circumference of 30 cubits refers to the inner rim of the basin. The diameter of the basin as measured from the inner rim is therefore 10 cubits minus 8 inches. 1 cubit = 18 inches. Therefore the inner diameter = 10 x 18 - 8 = 172 inches, and the inner circumference = 30 x 18 = 540 inches. So the valuation of Pi is 540 / 172 = 3.1395 or rounded off = 3.14. Also: The value of Pi is encoded in the Genesis 1:1 correct to 5 digits (3.1415): see: The Evaluation of Pi from within Genesis 1: - Whatabeginning And: The value of 'e' is encoded in John 1:1 correct to 5 digits (2.7183) by the same equation: see: Whatabeginning - Aspects of a Miracle- The evaluation of 'e' from within John 1:1 - then go to section 2.3.2

More of a popularizer than educator. He sparks interest, but doesn't teach - just gives you juicy bits. Like the headlines to the stories.
they're all the same.. him, Brian Greene, japanese MK guy that I can't spell his name... their jobs seem to be celebrities first...

This is best interview with Neil deGrasse Tyson, amazing topics.. Thanks Danica
It’s nice to hear this. I was ten years old when I notice that there are three truths: your truth, my truth, and the absolute truth!
Dr. Tyson is one of the greatest people on this planet.
Bernard McGrane Carl Sagan's "son".
I wonder if he and #ElonMusk have met n talked
Hadn't seen your channel before and was a bit skeptical, but this was one of the best Neil deGrasse Tyson interviews I've seen, and Ive watched him a lot. Well done you got his best out of him.
He’s a pompous @$$

And you are???
Danica Patrick thank you so much! You have always inspired me with your courage, strength and power. You did a wonderful job in this interview.
Very happy to see this appeared in my recommended... always down for more Neil in my life!
Danica, my respect for you increased 1000 fold after seeing this interview. I was dramatically impress with your inteligence and desire for knowleged. Thanks for sharing these moments.
She did a great job.
Wow, when I saw this was an hour and a half long, I said no but I will listen for a little while to see the tone of the interview. I was pleasantly surprised and watched the whole interview. I did not go in with the assumption that this would be a particularly good interview, but I now think this was the best interview I ever saw with Neil. I did not particularly expect that Danica to be able to orchestrate this given what I knew of her background as a driver, but I was totally wrong, she brought out the best in Neil IMO. Thank you.
It’s a given that Neil DeGrasse Tyson is a smart dude. Seeing that Danika is no dummy is a bonus.
the heck? she was mega cringe
That’s like a little kid who isn’t intellectually inclined yet asking a dad what is everything that’s like what I used to be.
Time well spent. Hope to see more interviews like this.
Mark .Smith .... Agreed!
I wasn't expecting much when I started watching this but I am very impressed with how Danica handled the interview. It was informative but delivered in an informal manner. Like to intelligent people having a good, casual conversation and I was allowed to listen in. Thank you.
Critical thinking is one of the most important skills that is not taught enough
I love neal... he is truly brilliant and relatable to the common person. Someone that smart and that educated that could speak well above 95% of peoples knowledge is so relatable and puts insanely complex things in a way that 95% of people can easily understand. He's amazing!
Fantastic podcast. Happy to find your program on youtube. I am very gratefult you brought Neil for a 90 min journey through the universe. I am impressed you are not only fast racing Indy and Nascar but you are a great host and a well rounded human being. Best wishes and keep up your great work online.
Neil's humility comes from his great knowledge and understanding and his drive to know more.
Curiosity is what separates truly intelligent people from the merely educated.
He probably knows that Aliens exist and teach fake saints that's why he smoked so much ..🤣🤣🤣🤣
Neil hates what evidence shows and so do his loser followers.
Neil deDumba$$ Tyson asked about the start of the universe and if he believes in God:
Larry King, "Who started all this; do you believe in God?"
Neil, "The proper question should be who or what started it, but I don't know. If I don't know I'm going to say I don't know."

What we KNOW and have NO doubts about...
Real science says nothing does nothing. Real science says if there was something there already it must fit with the evidence of what we know. We know the 1LT says there's a conservation of energy. It can change forms and neither can be created or destroyed. Creation cannot happen by natural means. The 2LT has various aspects, one being the universe is winding down, entropy. Usable energy is becoming less usable, so at one point usable energy was at its max. This all points to a supernatural creation, by a supernatural creator at a certain point in which matter, space and time were created. When I read how it can happen otherwise, ALL the fools resort to science-fiction. Once a supernatural creation is accepted, then the next step is finding proof of what supernatural power did it.
Neil does not know BASIC science. Not only can't we have creation without God, Neil does not know that we also can't have science without God. The laws of nature can only come from a Lawgiver, God.
Tyson says his dung at about 2:00 in the video below about the eye evolution. It is proven false in the rest of the video. But to shallow people, to hell with details and what the evidence shows. Your agenda is all that matters.

Danica, honestly no idea who you were (I'm not from the USA, had to google you) but have to say, this is one of the best interviews of Neil deGrasse Tyson I ever heard. Great job!
One of the best and most inspirational podcasts I have ever heard
Neil is, by far, the greatest speaker that I have ever listened too. His explanation of whatever question is asked of him is always explained in the most understandable way, that I can listen too him, and appreciate his reply every single time. He is truly an inspiration to our genius motivators. Thank you Danica for this video. I found it most educating.
Danica did such an amazing job. I’ve watched and heard countless interviews with Neil, but you asked great questions that showed Neil’s thoughts on topics that I Hadn’t heard him speak about. I don’t know how you don’t have 300k+ views yet, but it will get there once it’s out a bit longer. Awesome job!
Amazingly diverse interview, thank you for letting him talk but more importantly adding a sprinkle of yourself
This is the guy I want to hang out with. So insightful with what he presents to all
Then hang out with that loser.

Great interview. Niel is an incredible person with a mind that goes beyond the stars.
Over hunted is a strange term for some people. Over hunted implies there is an acceptable level of hunting and not everyone agrees that there is.
NEIL
She is an extraordinary interviewer.
One of the most inspiring persons of our time. His anecdote about Carl Sagan and the responsibilities of educators towards their students cannot be underestimated.
Mark , how true !
🌻 I ought not to say this, as I find myself saying this far too often: If this is the only Neil deGrasse Tyson interview that you have time for, which I hope is never the case, then this ought to be the one.
🌸 #DanicaPatrick, A huge and heartfelt thank you for sharing this inspiring interview. You both are wonderful beings.
I am an absolute new fan of Danica, she did such a good job in this interview. Plus she's gorgeous to boot!
I could listen to Neil for a week straight
Great guest! Niel is a very clever dude. Danica's energy, enthusiasm, and curiosity are refreshing as well.

My hero Dr. Tyson,
It has been two to three years that I have been addicted to watch literally 3 to 4 times a week on UA-cam. He is unique and something gift to all of us.
Your discussion with him is an excellent and lovely to listen and even sometimes makes you laugh. I hope you come back with a different topic whatever you feel needs to be discussed for pure knowledge and information on the Univers.
Thanks
Neil Degrasse is one of the few people in the world i can listen to for hours and not get tired of listening
@4:35....Neil repeats what he said in his MasterClass. REPEAT that to yourself. Profound wisdom in this man. Never ceases to amaze me.
She managed to check he intensity at the door, her inquisitness came through as it should from a host. I am a fan of race car drivers, Danica, you are wonderful. Thanks.
I noticed that too...vibration attraction..
For a high school drop out yeah
For someone who couldn’t get a single win in her whole NASCAR career while running a Stewart-Haas car which is one of the best teams in nascar, her teammates consistently finished high, while she was wayyyy in the back of the field consistently landing in 27th place next to drivers in gear half as good as hers, she. Very much was a flop in NASCAR
D! You must make Neil a recurring guest a few times a year!
You are a great host. Glad to see you join the fray! New Sub!
Great interview and discussion it kept me riveted to my seat the whole time! Thanks.
Being comfortable not having all the answers has been a gift .
I wish Star Talk was produced more like this, instead of having obnoxious comedian hosts that do nothing but constantly interrupt and waste 80 percent of each Star Talk show time.
Max Tahir I love that format though. So many people do.
You spoke my mind. I have stopped watching StarTalk for this very reason. Now I look for his interviews or podcasts like this. Hope they will get rid of that comedian. On the contrary, Lawrence Krauss is going well with his new channel.
I could listen to Mr Tyson all day long. I watched him when he interviewed his Mom. That was great.
This was an amazing podcast. So much that was talked about.
That was a great episode, very well done to you both 👏👏👏
You should interview Brian Cox if you haven’t yet.
this is beautiful. His voice is enchanting and so much knowledge , yet he isnt arrogant nor does he try to create controversy to drive clicks and views. Only 33K views, what a shame
437 k four months later.
Well that’s one of the best Neil sit downs I’ve watched thanks a lot Danica 👍
best interview I have head this year. Thanks to both of you
Neil quotes the Bible in 1 Kings as giving the value of Pi as 3.0.
Also:
The value of Pi is encoded in the Genesis 1:1 correct to 5 digits (3.1415):
see: The Evaluation of Pi from within Genesis 1: - Whatabeginning
And:
The value of 'e' is encoded in John 1:1 correct to 5 digits (2.7183) by the same equation:
see: Whatabeginning - Aspects of a Miracle- The evaluation of 'e' from within John 1:1
- then go to section 2.3.2

My mother use to say, "you know enough to be stupid" The one good thing is learn what you don't know!
Your mom is right. If you know nothing you do not realize there is so much to learn. You feel confident so you just deny all science and claim stupid thing like that the earth is flat. It is called the Dunning-Kruger effect.
