No, because bubbles have a fix amount of particles inside it, and therefore the other bubbles would thin out to refill that space. What Brian suggest if that the space it will recreate it self from nothing to repair itself, without losing any other space that is already in existence. Two different concepts.

You can look up the experiments that prove we have no free will to a certain extent but I still think we do have some free will in a macro level. like choosing a degree or a career path. but when it comes to deciding if you want McDonald's for lunch, then that's possibly different.
Han South You can argue that the future not only exists but is also finished for any particle that has crossed over the event horizon of any black hole that is massive enough. (to our perspective, that particle basically cubes to a standstill and we are now catching up to its time.)
@@EmpyreanLightASMR i certainly believe the psychological assertion that we have parts of us without free will.... But in physics, determinism is the axiom not the proof. Its all still philosophy! If you set out your field of "hard science" is essentially "to find the clockwork in the universe" then it looks clockwork. Except it looks random sometimes, which isnt free will either its a whim of dice.

that implies that energy stops just transmitting and for energy to disappear maybe not to be destroyed but to disappear by going outside the universe or something like that where energy stops changing things and now because there are no changes then there is no time
@@myutubechannel_nr1 "thing" doesn't scientifically describe the essence of your point - Energy is a function of matter in an unstable system, be it thermodynamically, electrically, so on and so forth. Your simile doesn't inspire much confidence that a productive dialogue is about to take place, so I'll leave it there.
Light travels about a billion feet per second so everything you observe is one billionth of a second in the past per foot of distance. Space is Time, it's spacetime. From your standpoint you are the end of time and everything away from you is the past; but from the perspective of any other thing, it is the end of time and everything away from those points is the past. The distant edge of the universe is the dawn of time, not the end of time. From the perspective of every point in the universe, relative to every other point in the universe, right here right now is the end of time and every point at any distance is the past. It is in the right here, right now where the future unfolds based on occurrences in the past effecting the present.
Problem with Brian's statement that religion is useful to understand your place in universe is that religion then encourages the tribal mentality, that's how we get sexism, racism and every problem because of the differences in the world, religions are the root of it. Religions condition the brain for tribal behaviour(us vs them), they do make you feel special about your place in the world but at the same time it makes you closed off to accept any scientific fact that would challenge your "special place" in the universe.
48 minutes is wayyyy too short for this.. I mean, it's 3am and I gotta sleep but really, if this episode was 5 hours long... Bring back Brian and make this 6x longer, dammit ;) I paused watching Episode 4 of Picard Season 2 for this :D
It would be beyond arrogant to think that we, as humans, know everything that there is to know RIGHT NOW. Calculus “existed” before Newton “found” it (worked it out). Relativity “existed” in the 1700’s but was “discovered” by Einstein in 1905. There’s NO REASON to think that we know everything now. LUCKILY we live in a time (and hopefully it never is taken away from us), that RELIGION does not dictate what we “know” because THEY (religious leaders) TELL US what is fact (sorry Galileo, Copernicus, etc) and what isn’t. We (humans) have an entire universe to discover yet!

For every time Dr. Neil interrupts, either himself or someone else on the panel, take a drink!
Of course, if you do that, you'll miss all the times he calls out Greene on absolute BS.
@@ZeroOskul lol
@@alwilsonwastheman Joe Rogan loves to hear Neil talk, too. Just ask Joe Rogan.
@@ZeroOskul sometimes, he calls BS without fully grasping the point being made.
WOW! Mr. Neil degrass Tyson is so very brilliant. I love hearing speak about anything. If you have a tough question he always has a precise answer. He ought to be in every school Across the Nation, is so we'd have a vastly different population always seeking more knowledge never having their thirst quenched
Livestream the ultimate vlog: a crew living on a near-lightspeed space vessel. Oh! would we need to eventually buffer and speed up the playback before we could watch it here at home?
I absolutely love the questions and answers. Thank you for feeding the curious mind
“I don’t believe any of us, really have free choice or free will” - Brain Greene
Its both...
if you can travel to the past, which i believe he does, future too, it implies that future already exists, right?
These ads are perfect. They're really just part of the show and I don't feel compelled to skip them.
I love that I have my own "personal physicist". :D
Somewhere Upthere nooo he is mine
Wish I had people who knew this stuff and would dive deep on these topics ...even the basic stuff! Everyone seems to just walk around living their life not knowing or caring about these big questions and even more the actual mind blowing answers we have found out that are facts! MORE PEOPLE should know this stuff and care, cheers to all the people in these comment section who thrive to be in a world that is so misunderstanding to the average person and never getting any chances to release all this information with someone without getting a boring not interested weird crazy look or not even get that chance you are not alone!
I tried to make a comment but Neil interrupted me
You're soooo funny omfg
I'll never get tired of listening to these guys.
The way they laugh at 34:48 is just too awesome! It was a great joke!
I LOVE this show. I recommend--if there is somebody who has the ability--to cut episodes into clips. This is so fascinating that I want to share, but it's difficult to show the right moment.
The end of time : when every proton, neutron, electron, photon has decayed away and nothing can change anymore, no more gradients.
you mean entropy is even everywhere, nothing changes.
that implies that energy stops just transmitting and for energy to disappear maybe not to be destroyed but to disappear by going outside the universe or something like that where energy stops changing things and now because there are no changes then there is no time
@JS 09 can energy disappear or convert into something that isnt energy like matter or something else
Some of the stuff Brian says is blowing Neil's mind. Let that sink in.
I'd still be watching, and getting up late to go to the football tomorrow.. and you know what, I'd be okay with that.
Stop being so arrogant.
